Gaststätte - Restaurant "Alt Waren" in Waren (Müritz)

Unfortunately I can only give it 5 stars, 10 stars or more would be more appropriate. We were served by “young, dark-haired Gaby Köster”. And that's not meant in a bad way. Super nice, she has the shop under control and knows her stuff. The food was super tasty and also very filling. The rooms are very nice. From the outside, from the service and from the ambience, you might think that the food costs €40 and more, and then you have to go to the golden M to get your fill. But far from it here. The prices are normal, the portions are generous and very tasty. Really very very highly recommended. 👍👍👍

We ate here today for the second time this year - and it was very good again! We had solyanka, schnitzel with spiced meat, rump steak and game goulash. The food tastes very good and the portions are more than sufficient. The price/performance ratio is good. The service is great, very friendly and courteous staff. We'd love to come back!!

Delicious food and very child friendly.

We had lunch in the restaurant after a visit to the Müritzeum and were given a very friendly welcome, given a nice seat by the window and our food came to us quickly. We enjoyed it very much. We would especially like to thank our friendly service, so attentive and friendly and in a good mood. 🥰

Place is very stylish, loved the paintings on the walls, super lovely atmosphere of history and town itself, workers are very friendly, food is German good quality, a bit fatty, but not too much, you can find diet options in the menu too. We came on Friday evening, families and locals had dinner. Loved it here, recommend.

Maybe we had a bad day? It was also very crowded. The seating is very cramped (we had a large table). Unfortunately my food wasn't tasty. The schnitzel (Vienna style) seemed like it had been warmed up several times. The breading was soggy and the meat was very dry. Unfortunately the fries were also baked. The half mini tomato and a sprig of parsley on the edge of the plate seemed a bit lost. My partner's food was slightly better. He had a Hamburger Schnitzel, which was also juicier. The waitress was friendly. Unfortunately, another service worker who helped the many people with the delivery was quite snippy. My personal impression of the atmosphere: nice pictures, but otherwise it seems quite uncomfortable. The room has the character of a hall.

We were very surprised and excited about the great restaurant. The waitress Sandra looked after us very well and the child-friendliness was great. The order could be placed quickly and the drinks arrived quickly despite a last-minute change to the order. The food was very tasty. The portions were a decent size and the price-performance ratio was good. We will come again.

Very tasty food. The service is also absolutely world class, we were there with a child (3 years old) and a dog, very accommodating and extremely friendly. Children's coloring books as well as dog treats and water were even thought of. Highly recommended 👍

Es wurde uns im Vorfeld viel Gutes berichtet...aber leider waren wir enttäuscht...bei meinem vegetarischem Gericht fehlte das Salz gänzlich und war etwas abgekühlt....mein Mann hatte sich für das Eusbein entschieden....viiiiiel zu groß und teilweise das Fleisch trocken....Ambiente war gut, leider nicht so gemütlich wie das alte "Alt Waren"...Bedienung freundlich...Getränke lecker....aber wir müssen nicht noch einmal wiederkommen....viel Glück für die Zukunft

I didn't think it was such a big deal... Pork knuckles were still great (warning, you need to be very hungry if you want to make them 😀😀). The fish plate, on the other hand, did not meet my expectations. The three different fillets had somehow been fried completely in fat and therefore looked very greasy. A light dill sauce was served in an extra “sauce bowl”. But somehow it was just a “flour mush” with a few bits of dill in it and it tasted terrible.

All in all we were very satisfied. The staff are all very friendly, only the procedures seem somehow inappropriate. Take a seat, wait, get a card, wait, order drinks, wait, get drinks, wait, order food, somehow seemed very optimizable. The meal then went very quickly. The knuckle, noodle pan and schnitzel were very good, but the spare ribs, which were delicious, didn't give us the feeling that they were homemade.

Service,👍, great value for money, food is tasty, dogs welcome, they also get a treat. Wild goulash is buttery tender and delicious with dumplings.

Was there again for a long time, at the new location in the Müritzeum. Had Wiener Schnitzel with fries, portion was sufficient, I found the schnitzel too salty. And the waitress made me wait quite a bit for the second drink (even though there wasn't much going on) One minus point, there is no light Hefeweizen.

Top quality food, fast and friendly service for years. Kenny's witty nature is also excellent, as he always has an easy-going saying and puts everyone in a good mood.

The Alt Waren restaurant is centrally located next to the Müritzeum. The food is highly recommended. Everything was nicely prepared and very tasty. The employees are very friendly and the service is good. Price, performance is absolutely fine.

The lovely service lady with full body tattoos deserves a bonus medal. She comes across as authentic, very nice and you can clearly tell that she does it with heart. We ate here three times in one week. Great selection, the food tasted very good, praise to the chef and the price was absolutely right. But what shocked us twice was that there was a loud conversation at the counter about guests who had been sitting outside or had called and reserved a table. Then the food and drink... Even as a service person, you obviously have to comply with this, no question, but leaning on the counter and then going to the table with your mouth full to take the order, that really doesn't have to be the case.

You have to have been here. It was very busy, but the lady from the service quickly prepared a table for the 4 of us. The food is great, first class. We were actually there a second time, we found a place again, although very busy and the menu offers variety. When we are back, we will visit the restaurant again and are really looking forward to it.

Extensive menu, very tasty food, fast and very friendly service. One of the few local restaurants where the prices are still within reasonable limits. That's probably why it's always very well attended. Highly recommended.

Food was a disaster... Fries were rock hard... Schnitzel was very dry and not edible... Pasta with tomato sauce didn't really have much taste... Fish was okay, but there wasn't enough sauce and therefore a bit dry. The service was very friendly and the ambience was also okay. So we won't eat there again...

Maybe it was the wrong day today? Very sad about the food served today. Meat very bland and tough. You could hardly cut it, let alone chew it. The fried potatoes were drowned in oil and I had to look for the 3 small fillets under a mass of bacon, onions and beans. I've eaten this dish several times before but today's really has nothing to do with good cooking. It was carelessly presented on the plate and there was no side salad as usual. The whole thing cost €22.90, which is crazy. I don't have to eat this again. Service is nice and friendly but the chef should rethink the way he prepares the plates and serve decent portions for the price. I'm very sad because I always enjoyed eating there. I'm sorry to say it like that, but it's my conclusion about today's meal. MFG

The food and the service were great, which is unfortunately really annoying - ketchup is charged extra at 80ct for a main menu and without any notice... This is of course an unsightly ploy and leaves a bad aftertaste...

I bought dinner for my friends and acquaintances for my 70th birthday. The place was very nicely decorated. Everyone was able to choose their food and was very satisfied. At the end there was a surprise for me. Toll was very enthusiastic. Thanks again.

The best thing was that our dog's well-being was immediately taken care of

We went to dinner for my wife's 60th birthday and were looking forward to a rump steak. After a nice reception, we continued with bad food! The first rump steak was lukewarm and went back into the kitchen, then my wife's rump steak, which was fried again, was covered in tendons and was taken back and served again. Unfortunately, the new rump steak was not fried medium/well, but medium/rare. The attempt at a free dessert for my wife also failed because my wife has an allergy to applesauce. We turned down the last attempt by the service, a liqueur on the house, no recommendation from us.

The best restaurant in the area, we go there every year on our vacation

The welcome was first of all: problem with the beer system and kitchen. We didn't want beer or food from the kitchen. And so we were able to take a seat outside. A waitress quickly brought us an ice cream menu. Coffee was ordered. I couldn't decide between apple strudel or ice cream with hot raspberries. The waitress made it easy for me: apple strudel with ice cream and a portion of hot raspberries. Super!!! She responded to requests!!! It tasted very good!!! The waitress made the afternoon an experience with her humor and good mood! Thank you! Next time we will test the kitchen more. The guests at the neighboring tables all raved about the food.

Nice location, nice staff but unfortunately the food is very overrated here. Deep fryer schnitzel and very fatty fried potatoes. Portions were very sufficient but I preferred smaller and better quality. Card not current, if I offer a kids box I have to have something like that too. Explaining to the kids that they have to choose something else is pointlessly laborious.

Attractively decorated restaurant. Very friendly service, fair prices and portions. Drinks are a little more expensive, but that makes up for the good food. My fried potatoes were clearly home-cut and not frozen.

Looks very nice. You can also sit outside. Unfortunately the service was quite unfriendly and the seven of us only got one card. We won't be coming back.

Celebrated my 50th birthday there on July 29th, 2024 with 13 people. Very friendly and attentive service, modern atmosphere, right at the Müritzeum. My guests consistently praised the food. Personally, I can warmly recommend a visit to this restaurant to every visitor Thank you for the lovely evening

Delicious food and very friendly staff, we felt very comfortable there. The restaurant was always busy and we didn't have to wait long for drinks and/or food. Dogs are also very welcome, which of course makes us very happy. So if we go on holiday to Waren again, we will definitely come back. We ate there a total of 4 times during our 7 day vacation. Simply delicious.

A very chic restaurant. The food was good. But it would have been nice if when the menu was handed out, it would have been stated what was no longer available. Three entrances is not optimal for the overview. But still highly recommended.

The ambience was ok, but the food was completely overpriced. The plate of Soljanka was empty after eating 5 spoons and the pasta for the children wasn't much larger (for €6.90). It's a shame... It's better to eat somewhere else.

The food was ok. (There was dry schnitzel with fries, neither ketchup nor mayo was served with it, and the lemon with the schnitzel was also missing from one of the plates.) Our service was really unfriendly. Apparently there were discussions between the employees that carried to the tables. During the time we were sitting there, all the tables were bluffed at by the bad-tempered lady, heard a line and stupid comments. You don't want to be served like that!

We had dinner there. The service was really very friendly. The soup as a starter was really tasty, but the main course wasn't as tasty...the meat and potatoes simply lacked the spice.

I've never eaten such good salmon before. I'd be happy to spend 20 euros on that. Top👍

The "Alt Waren" is a great restaurant! Despite the full house, we got a table quickly. The prices are fair and reasonable. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful evening and highly recommend this restaurant. The meals were more than delicious.

Unfortunately they are overwhelmed with regular operations. The shop was half full and yet turned away with a note saying “you can see what's going on here - you can't do it without a reservation.” Luckily, there are some 'normal' restaurants in Waren that you can go to without a reservation, even if they are full.

Wir wollten am 15.5.24 ,in einem Lokal essen gehen,da Ihre Bewertungen immer so gut sind ,haben wir uns entschieden. in Ihrem Restaurant zuspeisen . Um 18.55 haben wir am Thresen gefragt ,ob wir da bleiben dürfen und er bejahte das und das wir draussen sitzen wollten war auch ok,aber leider kam keine Bedienung zu uns am Tisch,nach 20 min.kam die Kellnerin und schmiss uns die Speisekarten auf dem Tisch und dann verging die Zeit und es kam wieder keiner,da hat es uns gereicht und wir sind gegangen.Was nutzt ein volles Lokal und sehr gute Speisen,aber das Personal überfordert ist und nicht hinterher kommt.Man hätte auch mit uns sprechen können,dann hätten wir es ja verstanden,aber nicht mal nach einem Getränkewunsch fragen.Zum Glück gibt es in Waren noch genügend Restaurants,wo man nicht so abgefertigt wird.

We didn't find it small and quaint, as other reviews said. However, it was extremely child friendly. Home-style food at fair prices. One thing was surprising: Why wasn't a cream sauce without onions possible?

We ate there for lunch 2 weeks ago We were extremely satisfied with the service and the dishes. First of all there was spiced meat which was really good, others have had it too :-( The Müllerin trout was TOP and also of size, not the kind of stickleback that is often offered. The fair prices for goods on the Müritz were also convincing

We stopped by spontaneously. We got a table straight away and were served quickly and friendly. The food (hamburger schnitzel) was world class! Absolutely recommended!

We stayed here with our 4-year-old daughter and were very satisfied overall! The little ones have a play area where they can sweeten the waiting time. Even though it took a little longer for us, but it was really full, we weren't disappointed! The food was delicious and the service was super friendly and accommodating! It's a shame, it's a shame. After visiting the museum we thought we could have a coffee. Even that was denied to us. We were told they needed a cut. We are not being served. They're getting ready for tonight. There would be no capacity for us now. So for me it means that the opening times are out of place there. We were there at 4 p.m. Not to be rejected so unpleasantly again. It's a shame because it would have been nice for non-local wheelchair users. They don't want our money there.

Das Restaurant befindet sich jetzt im Müritzeum und wurde im März 2024 wieder neu eröffnet! Wir waren zu viert und haben einen wunderschönen Abend verbracht. Das Essen, der Service und das Ambiente, einfach toll und Wahnsinn! Vielen Dank an das Team. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Wer dort essen gehen möchte, der sollte vorbestellen!

We had been eating in Alt Waren for a long time and were completely thrilled, the atmosphere was very cozy, the staff were very nice and took great care of the guests. The food was very, very tasty. The menu is very extensive, with something for everyone. We had lumberjack steak and schnitzel/forest style, portions very rich and tasty, very good reasonable prices. Keep it up, we'll be happy to come back.

Great restaurant with a unique atmosphere. The food was very good, special requests were no problem. Very nice staff! We came to eat with 5 people. All dishes were served at the same time. Everyone was happy with their dish 👍🏻.

The menu promised “Hollondaise sauce” for the vegetable boulette. In fact, there were about 20g of garnish sprayed on from the fine nozzle. The unpleasant reaction to the criticism was also disappointing. Pretty clumsy trickery.

The quaint little restaurant in the pedestrian zone of Waren (Müritz) essentially offers German home cooking at very acceptable prices. On the weekend you might want to reserve a table in advance, otherwise you could end up empty-handed in this busy restaurant. Despite the considerable workload, the service was extremely friendly and calm. We stopped here on two evenings and all the dishes we chose were extremely tasty and filling. We really felt very comfortable and will be happy to stop by again when the opportunity arises.

We really like the new location. It is modern but still in the usual “old goods” style. The food is great as always. The service is friendly, nice and attentive. We love it here and will come back again and again.
