A fantastic place with excellent service; the food is absolutely delicious 😋

I thought long and hard before writing this review. Our wedding reception took place in April. We arrived with our guests at 2:15 p.m. The food was very good, and the staff were friendly – ​​that wasn't the issue. What was absolutely disappointing, however, was that the staff member in charge had explicitly assured us beforehand that we could stay until 9:00 p.m. or even 11:00 p.m. if needed. Despite this, the waiter started repeatedly asking when we would be leaving as early as 4:00 p.m. This behavior created enormous pressure and completely contradicted what we had been promised. In the end, we were allowed to stay until 6:30 p.m., but the atmosphere was already very strained by the constant inquiries. I clearly felt that we weren't welcome or that our wedding celebration was seen as disruptive. For such a special day, this experience was truly disappointing. For this reason, I'm giving it three stars – otherwise, it would definitely have been five.

I always recommended the Echostüberl because the price-performance ratio was good. I'm sorry, but that's no longer the case. Beer 5.30, wheat beer 5.60. Duck is on the daily specials menu, but only available with a reservation. That's understandable. The waiter's response: "No, it's only available on Sundays." Trout sold out. At Königssee? I was especially looking forward to the mussels, also on the daily specials menu, but they were sold out too. The rice with the turkey cashew was bland and overcooked. The gravy with the roast pork was, in my opinion, made from powder. The appetizer was great. The prices aren't exactly on par with the famous Windbeutelbaron or St. Bartholomö. But seriously, does it have to be this way? Tourists only come once a year. Not me anymore.

Every time I'm in Berchtesgaden and at Königssee, I can't go home without stopping at the Echostüberl. The food is fantastic, as are the waiters and servers. Very friendly and helpful. The ambiance is simply superb, beyond compare. I'll definitely be back next year! 👍👌

Never sit outside on the terrace in the evening unless you enjoy spiders on your back, under the tables, or even almost in your food. They're everywhere, and nobody seems to care. The food was okay, obviously, being right by the lake and in a tourist area, which is why the prices are completely exorbitant for the portion sizes.

Although Google indicated the establishment was open, and the sign clearly indicated it was open, and the lights were fully on, I was ignored upon entering. Only after asking several times was I very rudely informed that there was a private event and that the establishment was closed to the public, which was supposedly clearly indicated (but unfortunately not). A polite explanation would certainly have been possible. 👍 I'm also not getting my €9 parking fee back! In some places, that's considered fraud! It was 5:15 PM when I entered the establishment.

We pre-ordered the cheese fondue for 15 people for my birthday via email: the communication beforehand was excellent! When we arrived, the table was beautifully set and everything went according to plan :) The fondue was delicious, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy. We would have loved to stay longer! At the end, we received a lovely email informing us that we had forgotten a mobile phone, and they even sent it to us free of charge! We will definitely come again!!!

A special place. With fantastic views of the lake. Very good and friendly service. Space with a good terrace and clean. The food is good but the Fileteller Echo is spectacular. Easy parking and with the 24-hour parking ticket (€9), they give you a discount on your drink, as long as it exceeds €20.

The food tastes good and you don't have to wait very long for it, nice service

We were there in April 2025 during sunny weather and had a table outside right by the water. We were allowed to bring our dog, and they even provided him with water. The panorama is priceless, with a magnificent view of the lake and the mountains. The server was extremely friendly and personable. The wait for the food was perfectly acceptable. The food itself (including fresh asparagus) was very, very tasty, and the portions were quite generous. Given the location and the ambiance, I had expected a lot more. Everything was excellent and highly recommended; we'd be happy to come back!

A very nice, traditional inn, but very cozy, with regional sports memorabilia on every wall. The food is excellent, the service is incredibly friendly, and the view, both inside and out, of Lake Königssee is magnificent.

The Echostüberl am Königssee is a great place to linger – with a beautiful outdoor terrace right on the water and shore of Lake Königssee. Beer from the Berchtesgadener Hofbräuhaus is served. It's particularly known for its fresh fish from the lake, whether smoked or traditionally prepared – simply outstanding! The interior is quaint and cozy, with many photos of famous bobsledders, as the restaurant is located right next to the bobsled run. The service is friendly and attentive, and the food is high-quality. Reservations for dinner are recommended; parking is available right at the entrance. A true piece of Berchtesgaden coziness!

A small, quaint little restaurant right on Lake Königssee. Parking is subject to a fee, whether in the large visitor parking lot at the front or at the back of the restaurant. Sitting outside on a nice sunny day, right by the lake, is wonderful. Friendly and attentive service, clean restrooms, and good food at affordable prices—what more could you want?

A culinary addition. And not only that. To get to the Echostüberl, you have to walk a good stretch of flat path around the lower tip of the lake, past the passenger boats. This also has the advantage of being closer to the parking lots. Behind the wooden bridge, on the left!

Great atmosphere with a view of Lake Königssee, beautifully situated. Unfortunately, we were visited by two mice in the evening and a not-so-friendly waiter with very short hair. They couldn't turn on the heaters for us in the evening either. The food, however, was very tasty and the portions were fair for the price.

We were very satisfied: seating right on the lakeshore, delicious pastries, friendly waiters, a perfect place to relax and enjoy. We think it's brilliant that the parking fee is fully refunded if you eat in the restaurant – it's €9, after all. We've never experienced that before, fantastic.

I've visited this restaurant several times. Depending on the number of guests (it's very busy during peak times) and the attentiveness of the waitress, the service varies from very attentive to less than excellent. With a few exceptions, the food was delicious. Prices (probably due to the location) are relatively ambitious... Lovely ambiance with a lake view on the large, partially covered terrace.

We visited this restaurant for lunch in July during our trip. The atmosphere was very nice and one of the younger male staff members was extremely helpful, recommending dishes and providing good service. The food itself was also quite decent. However, our positive impression was completely overshadowed when we were about to leave. While I was at the table settling the bill, my young daughter was walking toward the front of the restaurant. At that moment, an older male staff member,acted in an extremely inappropriate and shocking manner. He deliberately pushed my daughter aside, seemingly because she was in his way. There was absolutely no need for such rude behavior toward a child. Physical contact of any kind is already unacceptable, but this went beyond that,it felt aggressive, almost like an act of physical harm, over something so minor and unintentional. This experience left us with a very negative impression and completely ruined what could have been a pleasant meal.

Overall, it's okay. Nothing special. The view from the terrace is very nice.

The location is very beautiful, right on the lake. The service was also very friendly. The food wasn't impressive. The cordon bleu was tough, and the potato salad with cucumber was poorly prepared and bland.

We ate at the Echostüberl today. The meal was very disappointing. The sauce from the Deifi toast was carelessly slapped on. As a result, some of the toast was already soggy. I can't say whether the sauce was homemade, but I suspect not. The fries were okay, but they were partially covered in sauce and soggy. There was also an excessive amount of sauce on the toast. Overall, it didn't look appealing. The salad didn't seem completely fresh either. The waiter just said he was sorry it didn't taste good. What a shame! We can't recommend the restaurant.

We had an excellent meal that evening: echo toast (pork loin with creamed mushrooms) and a burger with two kinds of fries (one made with sweet potatoes). Fast and extremely friendly service, a cozy dining room, and a pleasant atmosphere.

We had reserved for six people, but there was still no table set for us. We were given a table in the back, where we had to push two tables together. I think a busload was brought forward, and the bad weather deprived the operator of many outdoor seating options. Not so bad; we had a great parking space thanks to the reservation. The soup was very good! The cordon bleu was small, the meat a bit stringy, and there was actually no cheese in it. The fries could have used another one or two minutes of hot oil and salt. We both agreed that we wouldn't come back because of the food, sorry. The service was great.

Amazing location. Bang average food, microwave chips, the burger was full of cheap sauce sludge, service was rude at best. Come for a drink and the view, eat elsewhere.

Perhaps the employees were somewhat exhausted after a "pretty long day"? At least their body language suggested it. The salad we ordered was noticeably aged in parts. The Obazda (traditional Swiss cheese) was half-heartedly portioned, seasoned, and garnished with a lack of refinement. It would have been quite easy to "turn things around"! At least there was an espresso as "compensation." The lakeside location is, of course, a plus. And if you spend €20 or more, the hefty parking fee (€9) is refunded. If you still want to enjoy some sunshine, keep an eye on the sundial.

Absolutely. We had a family menu for €39. It included a large salad plate, and the amount was so large that we (2 children + 1 adult) couldn't manage it.

Perhaps the best café with a view of Königssee. It was quite crowded, but I still managed to get a seat. The waitress was very nice, asked if she could open a parasol, and quickly got me an ashtray. The food was delicious! The wait was a bit longer, but with such a view, it was still enjoyable. So, I definitely recommend it!

We wanted to get something to eat here after paying €9 for parking in front of the door. My question about the restroom was met with a brusque "We're not a public restroom." I left immediately. I rarely experience such rude treatment from people.

My husband and I were staying across the lake and wanted a nicer dinner to end our trip. We only spoke english and our waiter was very kind! The food was brought out quickly and SO delicious. We ordered the käsespätzle and the pike-perch fillet. Then for dessert shared the chocolate soufflé which was AMAZING! The view was beautiful as the sun went down and it got darker. You can see the lights in the mountains. We can definitely recommend stopping by this cute place while you’re in Konigsee

The cheese spaetzle were delicious, and the family platter was definitely enough for the four of us. Very friendly service, a pleasant, cozy restaurant. We'd be happy to go back.

First row of lake view, delicious food, not too salty

We were ignored. Unoccupied tables were cleared, crates of beer were carried back and forth, and people walked past us empty-handed, without even a glance. Unfortunately, we left hungry. No thanks.

We visited during summer while exploring the famous Königssee. The restaurant is located right by the lake, offering a picturesque view and a great atmosphere. We ordered some local dishes — the food was decent, though prices are on the expensive side. Parking is also pricey at 9€, but there’s a small note on the ticket: if you spend more than 20€ at the restaurant, the parking fee is deducted from your bill. That made it a bit more worthwhile. Overall, nice spot to enjoy the view with a meal, though expect higher prices for the location.

Food is was good, we took three diferent types od dishes and each of them was unique, fresh. Also with outstanding.

I highly recommend it. The food is top-quality and everything is freshly prepared. I had a fish platter with three different types of fish, king prawns, mussels, and shrimp. I chose rösti as a side dish because I really like them. The atmosphere is right on Lake Königssee, simply fantastic! We've only been there on winter holidays, when it's quiet, relaxed, and magically beautiful! Shops are open even in winter, and the passenger boats also travel to St. Bartholomew in winter; simply stunningly beautiful! We'd love to go back!

Very good food. Very friendly. One of the waiters was perhaps a bit tired and annoyed in the evening 😉 the others were all friendly... And everything else was great... The location on the lake is fantastic... Right on the water.

Unfortunately, unlike before, I can no longer recommend it at all. It used to be good, but now it's significantly overpriced, especially in terms of quality and, unfortunately, the quantity of food on the plate for the significantly higher price. Even with the Königssee surcharge. It's a shame. But perhaps this constructive criticism will inspire the owner to rethink things, with a positive outcome.

: Had a refreshing iced coffee (after a bike tour), tried a new version with really cold coffee, vanilla ice cream, and ice cream. Swiss restaurant owners could learn a thing or two from this... Maybe we'll come back for dinner sometime!

The Echostüberl offers delicious regional dishes and a truly beautiful view of Lake Königssee. We were there in the evening and had a lovely table on the terrace overlooking Lake Königssee – a fantastic setting for dinner (although we had already reserved this table the day before, and without a reservation, many guests were waiting in line to snag one of the available tables). The food is good regional cuisine, tasty, plentiful, and delicious! Our children also loved the menu for "little guests." Highly recommended!

The Echostüberl is located directly on the shore of Lake Königssee and offers a wonderful view of the water. The terrace is very spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately, it rained during our visit, so we couldn't fully enjoy the beautiful terrace. However, the interior ambiance of the restaurant, which exudes warmth and conviviality, made up for this. The waiters who looked after us were right at our tables and super friendly. We didn't eat anything during our visit. We highly recommend this visit. We really enjoyed it and will definitely come back on our next vacation at Lake Königssee. 🤗

We've been guests at the Echostüberl for years. The reservation process has worked out well so far. Yesterday, as always, I wanted to reserve a table for two people. After someone answered the phone, who unfortunately wasn't able to give me the time of day, I was told that tables can only be reserved for groups of 5 or more. Hello???? Simply outrageous

A very nice restaurant with a beautiful view of Königssee, Jenner, and the Kehlsteinhaus. The food was delicious, and the staff was super friendly. Unfortunately, the food was a bit pricey, and the portions could perhaps be a bit larger. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

The food was tasty and well-prepared, and the dishes arrived at the table quickly. However, the service left much to be desired. We waited 25 minutes without any attention from our waiter, and when we asked about items on the menu, our inquiries were met with visible annoyance. This wasn’t due to a language barrier, as we spoke in German. It’s unclear whether the issue was understaffing or simply inattentiveness on the part of our server, but it certainly impacted the overall experience. In total despite that we enjoyed the place and the lake view and the superior nature and view. I recommend the place as it could have been bad luck.

The food was good, but the service left a lot to be desired. I tried to pay five times and all I heard was, "Yeah, yeah..." I got up after half an hour, and only then did the waitress come. This was reflected in my tip. Perhaps some people don't need it anymore.

After a visit to the salt mine, we drove a bit further and had dinner at the Echostüberl by the lake. Although it took a while between ordering and the food being served, the food arrived promptly and quickly. Apart from a misunderstanding regarding a wrong delivery, I was very satisfied; the food was tasty, and everything was fine.

We've been coming here for many years and have always been satisfied. The ambiance is lovely with a beautiful view of the lake. The food has always been good. This time, however, was disappointing due to a rude waiter. I immediately pointed out the inappropriate tone, and he became even more rude! We left. It's a shame that such a lovely restaurant has such unfriendly staff—that's not customer service! 🤷🏼‍♀️

There was plenty of parking, but you have to buy a day ticket for €9. However, if you spend at least €20 on food at the Echostüberl, the money will be credited back. The food was truly delicious and beautifully presented. Kudos to the kitchen! The staff were friendly, but we had to wait a bit longer to order, even though there were hardly any customers. That's the only negative thing I can report. Suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. I don't know if there are wheelchair-accessible restrooms. We can highly recommend the Echostüberl, even if the prices are a bit higher than elsewhere.

I was at this restaurant with my young son. We ordered spaetzle and spaghetti. My son asked for the restroom, so I briefly took him to the indoor restroom. Immediately afterward, I returned to pay. Suddenly, the waitress came in, furious, and loudly said to her colleague – quote: **"That black sh*t guy and his son ate and just left without paying!" I was shocked and replied: **"Really? That 'black sh*t guy' was just briefly in your restroom with his child." The waitress immediately began to apologize – for the racist and completely inappropriate choice of words. I concluded: **"By the way, that black sh*t guy would like to pay." I was born in Germany, come from a German family, hold a doctorate in clinical psychology, am recognized as a professional psychologist in Austria, and am a member of the Austrian Psychological Association (BÖP), the German Psychological Association (BDP), and EuroPsy-certified. I have contributed more than just taxes to both countries—primarily through my psychological work with people in emotional distress.
