Gaststätte Echostüberl in Schönau a.Königssee

There is one star for the great location and the lady in service. Three stars deducted for the convenience classics with microwave character. Not recommended.

Been there twice, twice so thrilled

We went there for dinner on New Year's Eve and were welcomed with champagne. There was a fire bowl outside where you could warm yourself and drink the champagne before going inside. The staff welcomed us in a friendly manner and served us, so once again a huge thank you to the staff for doing such a great job on Sivester to ensure the guests had a lovely evening. The ambience is what you would imagine a parlor to be, just to feel good. Unfortunately, in this case a point was deducted for the food because the price-performance ratio was not right for every dish. I had the Müller-style brook trout, which was very, very good and can only be recommended. There was a point deducted for the veal because given the price of 30 euros and what came with it, you expected a little more and the seasoning was a bit sober. But overall it was a very nice evening. If you would like to eat at the Echostüberl on New Year's Eve, you should make a reservation in good time.

Ate fish fondue here for the second time after 2023. It was very tasty, the service was great and the price was fair. What more could you want?

The food was okay. Typical Bavarian hearty cuisine. Portions were decent, but unfortunately my meat was so overcooked that it was almost inedible. Ambience with the view of the Königssee 10 out of 10.

Highly recommended! Although it was quite full at 1 p.m., we managed to get a seat straight away, even without a reservation. The service was very attentive. The food was very tasty and the portion size was perfect. For the very little ones, there is also a good changing facility in the women's toilet.

Lovely indoor deco ! A bit out from all the other restaurant but SOOO worth the extra few steps. Food is great we had one beef dish, one fish and one chicken and all super nice ! Really recommend and service is fast !

Magnificent and idyllic restaurant for something to eat. Been here several times already. Had the family dish here this time with 2 small children. It was really great. Can only recommend this.

Unfortunately the waiter was here on Saturday, November 30th. not very customer oriented and very incapable of criticism. After feedback on the Kaiserschmarn, which tasted like an omelette without any flour, we were informed that the three other guests had not complained. Very unprofessional and the completely wrong way of dealing with criticism. When the bill was asked, the waiter clearly looked at the full plate and had no interest in asking if anything was wrong. After the dish could no longer be canceled and we accepted it kindly, it was still explained in a continuous loop that complaints had to be reported in advance, as if the customer had to know how the cash register system worked. Very unnecessary behavior, as the restaurant initially attracted positive attention and the other four dishes were very tasty and you left almost 80 euros on the table. Even if the catering industry is not without its problems, the professional acceptance of friendly and objective criticism is always part of it!

Went to eat in the Echostüberl for a short detour after the tour of Königssee. The ambience is great and it is rustically furnished. I chose a plaice fillet. Unfortunately there was too much of the breading and it was baked too much. I can therefore only recommend the court to a limited extent.

A little away from the hustle and bustle of Lake Königsee, a wonderful inn directly on the shore with a unique view. The waitresses are pleasantly friendly and attentive. The quality of the food is impeccable.

Super nice, rustic restaurant right on Königssee. Very friendly staff and the family offering is particularly noteworthy. Here you get a huge platter with a large selection (cheese spaetzle, sausages, chicken wings, chicken nuggets, schnitzel and fries) and all at an unbeatable price. This will feed at least 2 adults and 2 children.

We actually only went to the restaurant because the parking fees from the parking lot in front of it could be used as a credit. In the end we were very satisfied, drank coffee and ate desserts such as yeast dumplings, apple strudel and quark strudel. There is a great view of the Königssee.

The food was very tasty, but the portion could have been a little larger. The draft beer was very tasty, but unfortunately the iced tea only came from a Tetra Pak. Otherwise a great atmosphere and highly recommended.

This restaurant relies solely on the good lakeside location. The food is accordingly in need of improvement. Unfortunately my toast was served lukewarm. Service was OK.

The food is delicious, but there will be a lot of bugs attracted by your delicious food in the outdoor seating, so remember, outdoor is only suitable for drinking, it is better to eat indoors

Well attended restaurant, quick service, food was top, you didn't have to wait long for everything you ordered. Price and performance very good. And of course the view of the lake, just idyllic.

Location directly on Königssee. We know friendlier service staff. The chef will be doing his guests a big favor if he no longer frys the meat in the pan for too long. But the waitress wasn't interested. Too bad we won't come back. There are significantly better restaurants in the surrounding area!!!

Food: I wanted a weisswust, I got a weisswurst with a pretzel, I was excited 😁 Service: great, after my broken English, we agreed that we can speak Czech😝 when the service is from the Czech Republic. Atmosphere: mega, Königsee, beautiful weather and a pleasant restaurant on the shore. D.O.P.O.R.Č.UJ.I.👏

The restaurant is located directly on Lake Königssee and you have a very nice view from there. The food, roast pork with dark beer sauce, red cabbage and a dumpling, tasted very good👍🏼💪🏼👋🏼

Eaten well for years. In 2024, a lot of things have changed for the worse. It was very well attended. Annoyed service, but then friendly. Roast pork with dumplings a 6. Tough, dumplings not cooked through with ready-made sauce. Schnitzel with fries… ok. Fries limp. Plate chipped at the edge. Mayonnaise in the tube, half open from the previous one. Tourist rip-off won. Not again. It's a shame about the 60 euros. We were always happy to be there. Totally disappointed, very slacked off. 2 stars for the view.

A warm atmosphere, pure sunshine

The Leberkas was fried too much. The egg was probably in the pan too long. My wife's brawn didn't contain enough onions... Otherwise, the look of the Königssee was super good. The service was quick and polite and we didn't have to wait long.

I was a guest at the Echostüberl on August 27th, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. and would like to share my experience. Unfortunately, the visit was anything but pleasant. The older lady with blonde hair was extremely rude, constantly angry and extremely impatient. Your behavior negatively affected our entire trip. I am very disappointed and will never recommend this restaurant.

Good food, beautifully located on Königssee

The food has really gone downhill, we've been coming here for years.

The food was mediocre and the portion was very small for the price. Of course you pay for the ambience. But it should be more than just a children's portion. The service was quick and polite and we didn't have to wait long.

Despite the fact that something went wrong with the reservation, the waitress responded to us in a friendly manner and solved the problem immediately. Great food, service and you can't be any closer to Königssee to eat.

A great place to stay, a little away from tourism

Delicious food and good views. But be careful: the portions are small!! If you come hungry you won't be satisfied here. The schnitzel, spagetti and XL burger are simply not big enough. Staff is friendly, the skirts/pants are good in the conditions. but inappropriately short.

Spontaneously went for dinner, partly because one of the few restaurants in Schönau am Königssee offers a BAVARIAN SAUSAGE SALAD. Because of the rain the terrace was not occupied. The non-Bavarian waiter at least wiped a table dry for me and brought the menu. But then I was never seen again. Had to go in to order after waiting 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the sausage salad is not served without cheese (because supposedly it has already been mixed). Cheap grated cheese was sprinkled on top of the sausage salad (round slices of Lyonnaise - unfortunately no Regensburg cheese). Plus grated cucumber strips like the IKEA hot dogs. At least rounded off with fresh yellow & red peppers and red onions. Plus the traditional decoration (= lettuce leaf + tomato slice) The not exactly generous portion at the proud price of € 12.90. The small beer we ordered came without a head of foam and the Pinot Blanc was more lukewarm than cold. Maybe you just couldn't expect more from the bored buffet man who was constantly fidgeting on his cell phone and even sat on a box behind the counter several times. The only thing that made up for it was the really fantastic location right on Lake Königssee with a view of the Jenner. All in all a “tourist stall” that I will definitely not see again. It's a shame that something like this has to happen to someone in such a beautiful place. Unfortunately not a recommendation!

Idyllic restaurant right on Königsee. The narrow access is located at the north-eastern end of the Königsee. Somewhat irritatingly, there is a traffic ban sign with the addition “Residents free”.

Here you can have really great food and slow down wonderfully - you have a view of Lake Königssee. We found the prices absolutely okay. Great here.

Had a drink - fine. Location nice, parking bit difficult. Fussy, rigid about paying by card. Waiter friendly, could not help that. More wasps than people visiting. Almost nothing done about that. Bummer.

Beautiful location on a historical site: Eva Braun used to swim and do her yoga exercises here, bored with the tedious stays at the Berghof. Friendly service, but diconnected from the 21sth century: no digital/only cash payments. And a lot of wasps (month of August).

I really enjoyed my dinner here. The food was good and reasonably priced, the helles from Hofbrauhaus Berchtesgaden hit the spot, but most of all the atmosphere is what makes it great. We sat outside on a nice summer evening right next to the water as the sun slowly set and it was beautiful.

Food is quite good - not outstanding, but really okay for the very touristy location. The price is still ok - very quick service. Lots of pushy but not aggressive wasps on the terrace during our visit.

We were lucky that a spot just became available on the lakeside terrace. We enjoyed the wonderful and very warm weather at the beautiful Königssee with a mug of coffee and a shandy. The service was very nice and served us very friendly. A nice atmosphere by the lake.

We as a group of 4 adults and 6 children wanted to eat there, tables were wet because it had rained 3 hours ago and they didn't want to dry them at first, then a waiter came and reluctantly wiped the tables dry with a mop. With a grim look he said to us, don't answer it, he'll be right back. We turned around and left. I can't judge the food or atmosphere. However, the service staff was completely unfriendly!!!

Ate there with my friend. Had to wait a long time before they brought the menu and ordered drinks. (we were there at 4:20 pm and it was quiet there) I ordered a steak and I asked for a medium rare. Later the waitress came back that it was not possible. And asked why not. I get the blunt answer that "we are not a steakhouse". Every restaurant where I could eat steak could always make it medium rare and they couldn't?! If you can't cook a steak, don't sell it. If you sit along the waterfront there are a lot of wasps/flying vermin. I couldn't find wasp traps etc. anywhere. When my friend was drinking, a wasp came and drank into them. We asked for a new one and we had to pay for a new one. The view is nice, but I won't go to this restaurant again. The rest of the food tasted okay, but if you're a big eater, it won't be enough for you.

We were a family of 4, we had 2 soups and 2 meals, we paid 41.80 Euros, the portions were small. The service was absolutely tragic, unpleasant with no willingness to explain anything, she brought us food without cutlery, she brought one dish much earlier than the others, everything took a very long time, we waited about 10 minutes to pay. The restaurant is in a beautiful location. We will never go here again.

The Echostüberl doesn't promise too much (maybe the echo is missing...) and I got what I expected: hearty food, fairly quick service, relatively fair prices. The view of Lake Königssee is very beautiful. The terrace is - or will not be - protected from rain. The coffee is fine.

We both ordered fish and it was delicious. Our baby loved it too. Service could be a little quicker, but there were just a lot of customers, so I understand that the girls were busy. Ambiance is great!
