Gasthaus Schusterstein in Schönau a.Königssee

We ate here several times during our vacation. It was simply delicious 😋, the portions were generous, the ambiance was lovely, and the staff were very friendly. We highly recommend it!

We wanted to go out to dinner, but there were reserved signs on all the tables outside, giving us the impression that we weren't welcome. So we drove to another restaurant for dinner.

We had a fantastic meal here, and the service was also great. There's a decent selection of food and drinks, including some vegetarian options. We went on a Thursday, and they have an extra grill menu with various grill options. The desserts are also delicious, and the staff is very friendly. Definitely recommended if you're staying overnight at the campsite next door.

My wife and I went here for dinner. The staff is attentive but not intrusive. In my opinion, the dishes are prepared with love, the value is good, and the food is delicious. Very nice...we loved it!

Some waiters here really don't treat tourists very well. When I tried to move them before I even placed my first order because it was too chilly in the shade, they rudely refused, saying it wasn't possible. The idea was that you probably won't see them again anyway. Yeah, too bad. You'll definitely never see them again.

We came here for dinner. The restaurant was busy, and the food was delicious.

We spent 10 days at the campsite and were really looking forward to the meal at Schusterstein. We got a nice seat, the service was nice and friendly. The drinks and food were all good. I ordered and received the roast pork. Unfortunately, it was dry and very tough. (You can even see this clearly in the photo.) I then complained. The server said she would have to speak to the manager about it. The manager made the decision. All the roasts that day had been good, so he didn't accept the complaint. He didn't investigate the matter himself, but rather communicated it through his staff. It's a shame, we would certainly have returned in the next few days. But that's simply not hospitable behavior. So, never again! Addendum after the innkeeper's response: Okay, then, for the sake of completeness, I'll tell you that my companions enjoyed the food. I also want to mention that my lukewarm soup arrived before the drinks and significantly before my companions' appetizers. For the record, a hair was found in the dessert at the next table. In another review, you mention that you should report immediately if something is wrong, and a solution will be found. I did that. No solution! I think that's enough.

It's a real pleasure to stop at Schusterstein for a meal when we're in the area, and for me they remain number one. High-quality Bavarian cuisine, a spectacular location, and always such kindness from everyone, I highly recommend it. Here you feel at home, the prices are more than fair and the portions are generous, and the bathrooms are spotless like a resort! I can only rate the food. But to keep the average, I'm giving it 5 stars. We've been there twice. Service and food were top-notch both times. The kids gobbled up the nuggets! Reservations are a good idea.

We stopped there after a short hike, on the recommendation of our hosts. The food was incredibly good! Truly heavenly. This is exactly how I imagined and longed to dine here in Bavaria. Unfortunately, we only discovered it on the day of our departure, otherwise we would have come every day!

I've been coming to the campsite opposite the inn since 1974, and we've always come to the Schusterstein. This year, unfortunately, was the inn's anniversary. The menu was shortened—okay on a day like that, paying with every order?! Then, unfortunately, we had to wait an hour for our food. After all the guests around us, who arrived much later than us, received cutlery and food, we asked the waiter when our food would arrive. We were told we hadn't ordered yet. But we had, an hour ago. Our order was probably under the "ball of paper" in his pocket. We then went back to the campsite and had a delicious barbecue. Unfortunately, I didn't receive a response to an email to the restaurant staff. One waiter for the back terrace and three young people who wanted to serve but didn't know how is perhaps a bit too little for an anniversary. Other restaurants in the area could do better.

We wanted to have a cozy meal with six people, so we all ordered. The drinks arrived fairly quickly, and then the first meal arrived. 15 minutes later, the second meal arrived, another five minutes later, three meals arrived, and another five minutes later, the last meal. Well, it was just a cheese platter, so it can take a while. Anyone who runs a place like this should be able to serve six meals at once. Strangely, it worked at some tables, but not at others. As an apology, the server offered us two shots of schnapps; there were six of us. Then, when we paid, the worst happened: the change was only returned after we asked for it. All in all, not recommended. Regarding the review by CHRISTOPH LORENZ: If you don't know exactly what happened, you should stay out of it.

We've been coming to Königssee for years, and this vacation was our first visit to the Gasthaus Schusterstein, and we've eaten several times. The dishes are very good and unique in their style. The service is also very good. The waitresses are always friendly, even when it's very busy. We'll definitely be back. We don't understand the bad reviews, especially yesterday's. They offer you one shot of schnapps for the whole table as compensation, and then you ask for a whole bottle! The two shots that were brought weren't even touched. To top it all off, the waitress didn't even get a tip.

I've been there for dinner for the second year in a row, and I'm really impressed by the food and the service. I'd love to go back ☺️

Our glasses never stayed empty for long, even though the waitresses had their hands full with the rush of guests. We highly recommend you and look forward to our next visit.

A recommendation from me, Strindberg onion roast is simply a delight and for dessert, chocolate soufflé.

Top knuckle of pork on the daily menu! Juicy and crispy. Delicious dumplings, unfortunately no potato dumplings, but with plenty of sauce (very tasty). Sauerkraut was also excellent. Cheese spaetzle was super creamy and hearty, just as you'd expect. Leftovers were packed up. Service was exceptionally good, very attentive and friendly. Beer is delicious! Would gladly go again

Gasthaus Schusterstein is now a MUST for us. Nice drinks and very good selection of food. Absolutely great in taste. In my opinion, the best cheese spaetzle is available here. Surf and Turf is a culinary delight. Salad like it was fresh from the field, very well dressed. The conditions are nimble, friendly and always fun to have. The boss is a perfect hostess, which is of course reflected in the staff.

We wanted something very tasty, but at the same time classic, we ordered the schnitzel “Engardiener” it was really very tasty and hearty, a large portion, four beers and two large meals for two 60 €, for a tourist place, near the Könegsee, it is a very good price, also very good ambience and service, very friendly waiters. I was there a very beautiful ginger kitten who pleases the eyes with her presence😃 The view from the restaurant is very nice, you can see the beautiful mountains 😍😍

Restaurant has a good location and nice terrace with great view on the mountains. Foot taste is good, nothing special, but nothing bad. Salad for the meat dish was a bit strange, cause consisted only from salad leafs, two slices of tomato and one slice of paprica :) It is also a first time heard rule: dish from kids menu is ONLY for kids. If adult would like to order smth from it - he won't get it :) A bit pushy, I'd say.

During Corona times we had to reserve here in advance, which isn't a bad thing. The restaurant was well attended and we were kindly assigned a table at the counter. The food was ordered and arrived in a reasonable time. The taste of the food was average, I would say 3 out of 5 stars. However, what we overheard at the table at the counter was loud gossip between the waiters and the boss about how stupid all of their customers were. Something like that is unprofessional and, in my opinion, not possible at all. What topped it off was the absolutely exorbitant prices! The drinks here are significantly more expensive than usual in the region.

Never again Since the Carnival restaurant was closed on Monday and Tuesday, we called on Monday to reserve a table for Kasnocken dinner on Wednesday We were told on the answering machine that we would be called back However, this did not happen When my wife asked in person at the inn on Wednesday, she was told very rudely that they no longer had a table and didn't think it was necessary to call back As a guest who has been coming to Berchtesgaden for more than 40 years, this approach is met with incomprehension If you are not dependent on guests, you should not place advertisements in the local daily newspaper, such as the Berchtesgadener-Anzeiger The answering machine was neither listened to nor was the guest book checked to see if there were free places My wife was rejected by the manager of the house

We stayed here in the inn for our vacation this year. The inn is owner-managed and you can see the love for the guest and the job. We felt comfortable and cared for from the first minute. Due to a medical condition, I am able to eat wheat flour and other delicious breakfast products made from other types of flour. From the next breakfast onwards I was provided with whole grain bread and other seed products. The hospitality was noticeable in every minute of our stay. Whether for lunch or dinner, the inn is highly recommended. But this is no longer an insider tip, so please reserve a table before every visit, especially in the evening. We would like to thank the Punz family and their employees for giving us a wonderful holiday. Thanks for the hospitality. PS Father and son conjure up one culinary dish after another in the kitchen. It is a real culinary delight. Ms. Punz is a friendly angel directly to the guest and supported by her equally friendly staff. Please stay like this!

My favorite restaurant...the food is great. Very great salad dressing, the guest can feel that the chef practices his craft with love. Very friendly staff, friendly landlady and beautiful view. Not exactly cheap, but it definitely pays off in terms of quality. Top!!!!

Since it was so crowded at Königssee, we stopped at the Schusterstein Inn on the way back. After we found a seat, we were served immediately. The food selection was clear and sufficient. The food we ordered was good, but nothing special.

Relaxing break and good food, the girl who served us was very kind and quick. Even if you are facing the main road to Konigsee the traffic does not disturb you in the slightest, in fact it can be fun to observe the various cyclists passing by. Yesterday (July 22nd) there were two of us at the Schusterstein and we got what were probably the last available seats, at 5:15 p.m The waiter was attentive and friendly and the drinks came quickly. For dinner we had a Berchtesgaden schnitzel and turkey medallions. We will definitely, definitely come back. Everything was a success, good quality and tasted very good. Many many thanks.

Nice staff and nice to sit on the terrace

We were on vacation at the beautiful Königssee in the summer of 2023. We noticed the restaurant simply because of the beautiful location and because there was a small area for the children :-) Unfortunately, we discovered that after ordering, our food was ready less than 5 to 10 minutes later. The place was full. My children's fish fingers didn't taste that good. I had cheese spaetzle. So if the food is ready after less than 10 minutes when the house is full, it can't all be super fresh. Unfortunately we didn't like it. But the location is still very good and the waiter was also very friendly, despite the fact that he was very busy. And no, it hasn't bothered me for a year, I'm just now starting to write reviews because I've never done anything like that before but I find it absolutely helpful. You should be able to deal with criticism in the catering industry ;-)

The reason was that today is a barbecue evening and everything is reserved and the kitchen doesn't open until 5 p.m. It also says on the website that you have to make a reservation on Thursday, said the waiter. I looked and I can't find anything about reservations, only that there is a barbecue every Thursday and that they look forward to welcoming guests. The sheer mockery. Always make a reservation, it's not easy to go out to eat. 🤣
