Wir haben 12 Plätze zum Abendessen bestellt, wurden herzlich von Anja begrüßt und haben uns sofort wohl gefühlt. Getränke- und Essenswünsche wurden bestens erfüllt. Alle Speisen frisch zubereitet, sehr schmackhaft und serviert mit Charme und Humor - so konnten wir einen wunderschönen Abend bei unserem Weimar-Besuch genießen. Wir waren rundum begeistert von unserem Besuch im Restaurant August Fröhlich! Das Essen war wirklich mehr als lecker! jedes Gericht war frisch, hervorragend gewürzt und mit viel Liebe angerichtet. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns die Portionsgröße! Hier bekommt man nicht nur Qualität, sondern auch reichlich auf den Teller. Unsere Erwartungen wurden definitiv übertroffen! Auch der Service verdient ein großes Lob. Das Team war unglaublich freundlich, aufmerksam und herzlich, ohne dabei aufdringlich zu wirken. Man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment an willkommen und bestens aufgehoben. Ein Restaurant, das wir mit bestem Gewissen weiterempfehlen können. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Wir sind auf Empfehlung hierher gekommen und es ist ein sehr idyllisches Plätzchen mit gutbürgerlichen Essen, Getränken und einem tollen Überblick über Jena. ​Wir waren am 5.04. hier essen. Leckeres Essen, toll fürs Auge und ein sehr herzlicher Empfang. Ein toller Ort in Weimar, den man besuchen muss. Gerne wieder!

Ich habe am 14.03.2026 meinen 60. Geburtstag dort gefeiert. Meine Gäste waren alle sehr begeistert vom ganzen Umfeld und die herzliche Bedienung. Das Essen war sehr lecker und wurde von allen gelobt . Wir haben uns alle sehr wohlgefühlt und kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. We were in Weimar from February 12th to 15th, 2026. On Valentine's Day (Saturday), we wanted to eat in the city center, which proved difficult, if not impossible. We were turned down by seven restaurants (for two people), and none of them offered any alternatives—for example, "sit at the bar and wait," or "come back in an hour." We then searched online and came across this restaurant! It was difficult to find; even the GPS had trouble—but the food was very good, and the service was outstanding, including a small Valentine's Day surprise. It's a shame we live too far away; otherwise, this small, cozy restaurant would be our favorite.

The atmosphere is very cozy. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.

The food was delicious and the price was perfectly reasonable. The service was excellent. A small suggestion: perhaps it should be mentioned that the potatoes come with their skins on – not everyone likes that. We had the farmer's breakfast and head cheese with fried potatoes.

Our New Year's Eve celebration was meant to be a lovely end to the year with family, but it turned into a complete disappointment. We ordered our food in good spirits... After patiently waiting for over an hour and politely inquiring about it, nothing happened; in fact, after a three-hour wait, we finally received our food at 10:30 p.m. The quality was unworthy of a New Year's Eve meal, the service was incredibly slow and indifferent. The restrooms were appalling, and the entire atmosphere was disappointing. Neither the server nor the owner bothered to inform us about the long wait or even apologize. We have never experienced such a poor New Year's Eve celebration, especially considering the price. Beware when choosing a nice place for a cozy celebration...

We had a very tasty lunch while passing through. The menu is small, but all the dishes were delicious. If it weren't so far away, we would come back.

The drive there was a bit of an adventure, down an unlit country lane – the GPS was to blame. But the view, the food, and the wonderful atmosphere pleasantly surprised and definitely won us over. The food was delicious, and the service was simply top-notch. Very friendly and helpful. We were offered a smaller, child-friendly menu (judging by the size of the schnitzel), even though they could have made much more money with a regular-sized dish. The menu is handwritten, which I assume means it varies from day to day. This gives it a unique charm, and there was something for everyone. The motto here is: small but perfectly formed. The only downside is the restroom. It's only accessible by going outside. That's not so bad in itself, but you have to climb three steps to get there, and the path isn't lit. Unfortunately, there's a risk of injury if you don't bring a light. If this is improved, the restaurant will get full marks. I would highly recommend it and will definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again.

We were here again today for dumplings. The food is always delicious. If you're looking for a good Sunday meal, go to August Frölich.

Normally, we're far from criticizing. But now it's happened to us for the second time. A disaster on Boxing Day, when we were immensely disappointed. Yesterday it was another disappointment: the staff were completely overwhelmed and, after asking four times, we still didn't have a menu, even though the beer garden wasn't completely full. You obviously dismiss constructive criticism as your own fault. What a shame! You need to work on that! Since we still hadn't had anything to eat by 8 p.m., we made up our minds: this would be our last visit.

We came to the August Frölich restaurant through friends and had a lovely day. When you arrived there, you were very friendly taken to the table you had already ordered. We immediately felt very comfortable and also had a fantastic view over beautiful Weimar. While we were waiting for our food, we really liked being informed that our food was coming soon. Very attentive and the guest doesn't feel forgotten. Great👍🍽️🥂 Now the food came and I have to say that it was very tasty and skillfully served. Simply very, very tasty. I was there for a guild meeting. The innkeeper was very friendly. Food and drinks very tasty. Unproblematic ordering as a vegetarian. Thank you.

We had reserved a table for 5 people for Boxing Day at 1 p.m. We were welcomed in an extremely friendly and courteous manner. Everything was easily accessible for wheelchair users and without any hurdles. The Christmas menu was very tasty and really an absolute positive attack on our taste buds. You could choose between roulades and duck in different variations. Likewise between red cabbage and peas with carrots. The only thing we found a bit unfortunate was the size of the small dessert. But I know these days, food is expensive. Otherwise everything was fine. The warmth of the waiters and chefs and the ambience were wonderful. This is how we imagine a few wonderful hours for Boxing Day. Thank you very much and keep it up. It's definitely not the last time we've been with you.

Endless catastrophe. One star is definitely too many!

Hey guys. So, we had a 1 p.m. appointment as a family for the 2nd week of the week. Yes, peace and joy and all, but we felt ignored. The worst part was that other families got their food earlier, even though we were there 30 minutes early. After about an hour and a half, we were informed that there were no more roulades for us (thanks for the nothing). Three families who arrived after us also had the pleasure. We then had two meals without meat (sad and angry). We'll definitely never come back, it was simply abysmal. Oh, and the price per person wasn't that flexible after the disaster; it was a disgrace for me. I hope this gets to the right person. Bye.

Fantastic location with a fantastic view! The food was truly delicious, and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating! We were absolutely impressed by the view. The sweeping view over the city made our visit perfect. A place we'd love to return to!

Very cozy and very friendly staff. Six of us were there today. We had requested a table at short notice and luckily 🙏 we still got a table. That was very commendable.

We were here today for the second time in 2 days because we liked it so much the first time. We weren't disappointed. Food was again first class, good German cuisine, nice staff, there is nothing to complain about. I can only recommend it.

Main directed me to the garden restaurant because I had my dog ​​with me. I had pre-booked seats. Dogs are allowed on the homepage. I was supposed to eat my food in the awning when the outside temperature was 13 degrees. Or should I put the dog in the next room or in the car or take him home. I came especially from Leipzig. So very rude and cheeky. What is this woman imagining? Doesn't know your own homepage. I am extremely outraged by this manner.

Absolutely recommended location with a fantastic view!!! The food is good, home-style and very tasty. Every meal tasted very good and was perfectly prepared. I personally recommend “Dumpling Sunday”. 😉 The service is attentive, quick, very friendly and sometimes you get some entertainment from the service... Many thanks to the boss and her great team. I don't really know where to start, from the service to the very tasty food to the ambience and view, the August cheerfully is definitely worth a visit. The waitress always has an easy-going saying and gives you a smile at all times. Extra requests are very well taken into account. And all I can say about the food is that you can't get such delicious food anywhere else for this price. I'd love to come back :)

We had Szeged goulash with dumplings. The goulash was completely overcooked, there were no pieces of meat and the accompanying sauerkraut could not be found on the plate.

A gastronomy run with heart, small things can certainly be improved, but nice service, food tastes great with an enchanting view over Weimar.

First visit today. Convincing all around. Easily accessible by city bus. Parking possible at the bus turning loop. Just a few minutes away. There are only a few parking spaces at the restaurant.
