Great breakfast in a pleasant atmosphere. Right next to the Goethehaus in a beautiful, new building made of wood and clay.

Great brunch, best food, correct coffee specialties also with milk alternatives. Service very friendly, not intrusive but present. Price/performance correct. Personal tip: Poor knight with bacon!

Seit der Übernahme des Gretchens durch die Brotklappe ist das Frühstück hier leider keine Empfehlung mehr.Die angebotenen Speisen an sich geschmacklich gut,allerdings für ältere Menschen aufgrund der ca.5cm dicken Brotscheiben mit krosser Kruste nicht händelbar. Für Kinder gibt es keine speziellen Frühstücksangebote ,ausser vielleicht einem Croissant mit Honig für über 6 Euro ! Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist nicht nachvollziehbar.

Very nice house, fantastic roof terrace with sandpit. However, the food contains mint in many dishes. If you don't like that - like me - you can unfortunately only enjoy the food moderately. The bread tastes good. The service is very accommodating and exceptionally friendly.

Pretty little cafe/restaurant, tucked away in a small alley. There were three of us there for breakfast. In addition to the cozy interior, there is a mini garden with 2 tables and a pretty roof terrace, although this is only self-service from the ground floor. Breakfast menu is extensive. Prices in the upper range. 3 people each 1 large cappuccino and 1 breakfast a little over 50€

Great place to be! Very pleasant atmosphere to relax in - the roof terrace was also super nice. We'll definitely come back. A real recommendation in Weimar!

Trotz Reservierung wurden wir erstmal relativ lange stehen gelassen. Dann dauerte es ewig bis die Karte kam und Getränke/ Essen dauerten noch viel länger. Angeblich sei die Dachterasse sehr voll aber der Gaststraum war leer. Auf Basis der überhörten Gespräche des Personals war eher die Unkoordiniertheit das Problem. Das Essen war an sich gut, aber stolze Preise und trotz angepriesener veganer Speisekarte kaum Optionen.

Ich hatte ein Gericht aus Blumenkohl, das sehr schmackhaft war. Und das Brot davor und dazu war so lecker. Nachtisch war ein Kösekuchen. Mmm. Danke schön an die Küche, danke auch an die freundliche, kompetente Bedienung.

This little restaurant is a true gem. We had breakfast here and absolutely loved it. It was a very unusual breakfast. Very diverse, full of ideas, extremely tasty, prepared with love. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. We felt very comfortable.

My family and I enjoyed a pleasant buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The staff was friendly, warm and professional. He asked us about our needs attentively, and brought a cute wood horse for my daughter, who had a lot of fun with it.

Breakfast at the Gretchen.We had a great breakfast buffet last year and therefore flew into the Gretchen again. The atmosphere is still cozy. We only found out about the carrier change when the service staff told us. Because contrary to expectations, breakfast is now available a la carte. We were also not aware of the primary “vegetarian” orientation. That's why our assessment is certainly more modest. Two of the variants for breakfast, one with cheese and the other with sweet spreads and an egg each plus coffee, tea and an orange juice, came to a total of €40. Unfortunately, the execution and quantity of the food were not sufficient. Butter was added on request, Otherwise we had a disappointing feeling. Things are getting better.

Small but fine restaurant in the heart of the old town. High quality food that is all very tasty! Definitely worth a visit!

The bread flap has been running Gretchen's since April 19, 2024. Delicious, regional and small menu. We'd love to come back.

This was the second time we had family breakfast at Gretchen's and we were very happy that it was possible on Easter Monday. In a small, cozy atmosphere everyone found everything to their liking and the service was again great. We'd love to come back... keep it up👍

Our meal for the adults was very tasty and reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere and nice staff. However, after I paid, I realized that the small portion of pasta without sauce for a small child cost €8.90. Very outrageous for a restaurant in a family hotel.

Gretchens has a wonderful atmosphere, the service is fast and friendly, and the wine is good. I had a wild mushroom soup, which was very good, and a wild herb salad, which I found very overpriced. It was really just wild herbs and a rather boring dressing, for €16.50 I expected more (even if the delightful waiter had added an extra slice of bread). Still a nice restaurant.

Tolles Ambiente und Einrichtung - allerdings macht das leider nicht die sehr kleine Auswahl mit mittelmäßiger Qualität nicht weg. Das preis Leistungs Verhältnis passt leider überhaupt nicht. Sehr schade …

Wir waren gegen 6 Uhr unterwegs und leider war es geschlossen. Eine sehr komplizierte Einführung für jemanden, der es nicht weiß und der erste ist, der geht. Diejenigen, die abends die Terrasse genießen möchten, sollten vorsichtig sein, da Sie möglicherweise nicht die gewünschte Leistung sehen, wenn Sie gehen. Wir gingen die Treppe hinunter und fragten jemanden und uns wurde mitgeteilt, dass es nach 20 Uhr öffnete. Es ist nicht genug Information für diejenigen, die im Internet im Freien sitzen wollen. Ich hoffe, dass wir nicht mit der gleichen Situation konfrontiert werden.

Sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und die Bedienung war extrem nett.

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Abend in Gretchens Restaurant. Die Bedienung Ali war himmlisch, das Essen ausgezeichnet. Auf Sonderwünsche wurde offenherzig eingefangen. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Beim nächsten Besuch in Weimar werden wir unbedingt wieder dieses bezaubernde Lokal besuchen und uns von Alis Humor und der tollen Atmosphäre verzaubern lassen.

Cozy lovely place with a short selective Menu. They have some good vegetarian options but sadly no Vegan options. Still the staff helps in customising and putting a vegan meal. I tried Cauliflower cream soup and it was simply divine 🥹 one of the must go places if you find yourself in Weimar.

Wir kommen immer wieder gern ins Gretchens. Das Essen ist super! Das Personal ist sehr nett. Es gibt Kräuter zum naschen auf der Dachterrasse für die Kids und einen Sandkasten. Das Personal super nett. Wir fühlen uns sehr wohl.

Sind spontan zum Mittagessen eingekehrt. Schöne Dachterrasse, gut mit dem Fahrstuhl zu erreichen, leckere, frisch zubereitete Speisen, freundliche Bedienung, sehr empfehlenswert.

Sehr schönes kleines Hotel und Restaurant. Es wird viel Wert auf heimische Produkte gelegt !! Man muss reservieren !! Es gibt ein tolles Frühstück und eine sehr schöne Dachterasse..!!

Ganz tolles Essen und nette Bedienung. Das Essen kann zügig und war heiß, so wie es sein sollte. Die Speisekarte ist überschaubar, was ich für einen Vorteil halte. Dafür eine gute Auswahl an Wein. Von Ambiente her keinesfalls schlecht, aber auch nicht überraschend. Dafür aber unglaublich ruhig und hektikfrei. Preislich völlig i.O.

Wir haben sehr gemütlich gefrühstückt! Sehr schönes Ambiente! Der Service war super und sehr freundlich! Das Buffet überschaubar, aber sehr lecker und wurde auch rasch nach gelegt, wenn was alle war.

Hervorragende Küche und guter Service. Nachdem die Gäste, die vor uns die Plätze nicht geräumt hatten, wie abgesprochen, überbrückte der Wirt die Wartezeit von ca. 10 Minuten, indem er uns zum Prosecco einlud. Unsere Bestellung wurde anschließend schnell aufgenommen, alle Gerichte wurden gleichzeitig serviert.

Wir wurden zum Abendessen und zum Frühstück äußerst freundlich begrüßt und bedient. Fleischesser und Vegetarier werden hier fündig und unser Geschmack wurde auf jeden Fall getroffen. Dazu das moderne warme Ambiente - uns haben die Besuche sehr gefallen.

Wir kamen durch Zufall und etwas zu spät in dieses Frühstücksrestaurant und waren wirklich äusserst positiv überrascht. Obwohl zu spät wurden extra nochmal frische Brötchen gebacken und frisches Rührei zubereitet….die Wurst- und Käseauswahl war nicht reichhaltig aber qualitativ sehr hochwertig….es gab Lachs, frisches Obst, tolle Marmeladen, hausgemachte dips (sehr lecker) und auch ansonsten fehlte es an nichts…Kaffee und Tee soviel man wollte plus Orangensaft inklusive und das alles für 16 Euro !….Die sehr bemühte und nette Bedienung rundete das kaum zu übertreffende Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ab….alles in allem eine klare Empfehlung für ein tolles Frühstück in Weimar !

Wir waren heute zum Frühstück im Lokal. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Sehr schönes Ambiente. Die Bedienung war sehr nett und sehr aufmerksam. Die Produkte waren frisch und wurden sofort aufgefüllt, wenn was aufgebraucht war. So war alles immer frisch. Ganz nach dem Motto "Klasse statt Masse". Für 16,00 € inkl. Getränke ein absolut fairer Preis. Sehr zu empfehlen.

We ate dinner here with our extended family last weekend (24.09.22). The building is very nicely renovated but the service we experienced was incredibly poor. We waited a very long time for my father-in-law’s meal to arrive and after waiting 10 mins from the time the rest of the plates had been served we alerted a waiter to the missing dish. The waiter disappeared without returning and 5 minutes later we then asked another waiter to investigate what was going on. After some minutes he returned saying the kitchen was very busy the cooks were stressed as the restaurant was full and they only had 6 burners to cook on. The second waiter then tried to appease the situation by apologising and offering other cold alternatives, at which point the first waiter returned with a replacement meal which had been hastily prepared. On inspection my father-in-law found that the liver dish he had ordered was completely raw, the second waiter then examined the plate and agreed it was unacceptable and returned it to the kitchen. As an alternative the waiter then offered my father-in-law a plate of cheese and ham and some bread (which we were subsequently charged 27 Euros for). By the time this cold plate was served half an hour had gone by and the rest of us had already finished our meals. The dishes we ate were all fine, but not particularly special, but you can imagine our collective disappointment at not being able to eat together, as this was meant to be a special occasion. Of course, mistakes happen but Gretchen’s restaurant is pitched as a high-quality venue not Burger King (and in fairness to Burger King I expect they might have handled the situation better). We won't be going back again because we don’t think the restaurant handled the situation professionally. Here's a few suggestions to avoid losing more customers should this happen again: 1. Check all the plates are served and the customers are content with what they ordered within a few minutes of the service being 'complete' (this didn't happen) 2. When a waiter is alerted to a problem, they should report back to the customer immediately (this didn't happen) 3. When the problem is identified, don’t blame your colleagues or the equipment (this did happen) 4. When you try to catch up and get the missing plate out do make sure it is properly cooked (this didn't happen) 5. When you are still flailing around after 30 minutes don't make any further excuses, get the customer anything they want within reason and tell them its on the house (this didn't happen) 6. When you prepare the final bill, try to be generous - even a small reduction or a free glass of wine or two (on a bill of several hundred Euros) would go a long way as an apology (this didn't happen). 7. This is an 'incident' where the manager or front-of-house should have made a formal apology - not just the waiter. (this didn’t happen) Mistakes happen, but it is how you deal with them that counts. Restaurants are not just selling food; they are selling an experience. This was an experience that could have been avoided, at every one of the steps listed above, and is one we would be very happy not to repeat.

Heute waren wir zum Frühstück, hatten dafür extra einen Tisch bestellt. Die ersten Eindrücke waren enttäuschend, Mini Buffet fast alle, Brötchen alle, kein Saft etc. Die 2 Herren der " Bedienung " waren sichtlich überfordert aber freundlich und bemüht. Hier geht das Konzept " Frühstück " bei vielen Gästen einfach nicht auf. Wann man weiss was man für Gäste erwartet kann man sich als Gastgeber darauf einstellen zumal es mit 16,-€ pro Person auch kein Schnäppchen ist, das geht mit Sicherheit besser.
