We went out to eat with a group of seven people. The starter, soup with liver dumplings, was incredibly good, and so was the pumpkin soup, both 5/5. The main courses were also excellent, both in terms of taste and quality, even at the higher price point. I had the "Hunter's Pot" (Jägertopf), but the dumplings weren't homemade, which I had hoped for, and the loin was tough, almost impossible to cut, and unfortunately inedible. The Maultaschen (swabian ravioli) weren't anything to write home about either. The service was super friendly and attentive. In summary, there were a few minor flaws with the food; it could have simply been a mistake and could have been better otherwise. The service and ambiance were excellent. Overall, highly recommended.

Very tasty and friendly staff During peak season, the restaurant steadily fills up, but the noise level is still very moderate. You can even hear the background music playing, and it's great to have a conversation with your companion. The style is a fusion of traditional and modern, which is subtly but very convincingly executed. The service is very courteous, attentive, and friendly. The food arrived very quickly. This is by far the best schnitzel I've had in a long time. Amazing. Highly recommended.

We chose this place because I was craving Franconian Schäufele (pork shoulder) with a crispy crust. First, we had to wait almost 20 minutes before we even got a menu or could order drinks. The service was simply not up to scratch. Then my Schäufele arrived, and the "crust" was soggy. I complained, and they wanted to "put the meat back on," which I declined. They only send food if it's OK. If I'm waiting an hour for my food, I don't want meat that's been reheated several times. The sauce was rich and good (too salty for me, but that's a matter of taste). And the Knöpfle/Spätzle (snacks) were okay. For €18.20, I expected a crispy crust—as usual. And the service could have been faster and more attentive. Maybe I was unlucky and had a bad day. It was a shame.

It's a real shame, because the place initially made a good impression. There were four of us there, and each of us could hardly believe what we were served: tasteless, overcooked spaetzle, tough meat, ready-made sauces and dips, and all served with such carelessness.

A very nice inn right in front of the Teutonic Order Castle in Bad Mergentheim. We made an online reservation the night before, where we could choose a terrace or indoor seating. Very friendly staff and fast service. The food was served promptly and was absolutely fresh and delicious. Good value for money. We would definitely go back and highly recommend it 💯

Unfortunately, they use ready-made spice blends, the contents of which are unknown even to those cooking. The kitchen was very well-intentioned, so it was uneatable. Five people tried it. Unfortunately, the restaurants were not accommodating in any way. However, the service was consistently friendly.

Three completely peppered children's portions of cheese spaetzle. Inedible, as was the staff's reaction to the criticism.

July 2025 We ate here twice. Once after arriving at our hotel. Very hospitable: we were able to sit outside and the food was freshly prepared. Very good currywurst. You can eat outside and order at the bar for pickup. We had currywurst with fries and Bavarian Bratwurst with fries. Both were exceptionally delicious, and the service was very friendly. A beautiful location in the center of Bad Mergentheim. The second night we ate here, we had a reservation for two people, but we arrived with four. It was very full, but they did their best to fit us in. Then we had currywurst and Schaüfele with Spätzle: both delicious again. Large portions, good prices, friendly and good service, who take their time with you despite the crowd. The table was clean! If you want traditional German food in Bad Mergentheim, this is the place to be: there are many restaurants to choose from in this beautiful town, but for traditional German food, this is the best location.

That was really not very good. 4 different dishes, each of which appeared cheap and of low quality. Sometimes that can still be yummy though. It wasn't this time. Service was alright. Location as well.

I highly recommend this inn. The price/performance ratio is excellent. The food is outstanding – a big thank you to the "mother" – as we learned, she cooks...it's a family business. Hats off to them. We were all thrilled. The two girls who served us were so friendly and quick.

Absolutely fantastic. We were on our way home to Schwäbisch Hall and stumbled upon this quaint restaurant. We were absolutely thrilled! The excellent service, which alone managed to take the restaurant, both inside and outside, to a whole new level. That alone is unique! The interior is incredibly cozy, and the schnitzel is fantastic. One reason to go back. Thank you!

The food is abysmal. It's a combination of instant gravy, bad meat, and burnt potatoes. It's ironic that they even ask you if you enjoyed your meal.

The schnitzel was excellent. I had the "Claudia" schnitzel with hunter's sauce. You could also choose poultry instead of pork. The fries, however, were EXTREMELY OVER-SALTED. Almost inedible. The price was OK. I paid €15.60 for the schnitzel.

Well-crowded restaurant with young staff who still need some time to learn. Some of the food was good, some things might have taken the kitchen a few more minutes to bring to the guest, our sirloin pieces were not even medium rare and so raw that we left half of each back and the potato pancakes as a side dish were also only brown on the outside and raw on the inside. Then another cappuccino, yes, that took another 20 minutes because the coffee machine was supposedly broken and that was on a Saturday evening. It can sometimes happen that food doesn't leave the kitchen quite as it should, but almost all of us have found fault with something about the food. There wasn't a word of apology or a price reduction offered in any way, even though I showed the waitress the meat and she took the plate without even saying a word. The 9 of us don't come there anymore and we won't recommend this restaurant to anyone else.

We were there on Fri. March 21st. with 6 people for dinner at Johanniter. Everyone ordered a different dish. Everyone liked it very much. Service friendly and attentive.

Ordered food to be delivered. Food came quickly, unfortunately everything was different than expected, pork loin in cream sauce was ordered. At best it was comparable to a minute steak... unfortunately the cream sauce wasn't good either. Have ordered several times, now was probably the last time

People! Here you'll find the greatest and tastiest schnitzel platter you can imagine - for 2 people - mom makes it herself in the restaurant! A dream - and it's cheap too! Definitely go there! But you have to do it beforehand reserve already order….

The food was miserable. The meat tasted old and warmed up and the side dish was a few spaetzle drowned in ready-made sauce. The fried potatoes were heated too quickly and were blackened on the outside. That you are not ashamed to serve something like that.

From the outside the restaurant looks very inconspicuous, but once you enter you can't help but be amazed. A wonderful ambience, especially when you sit in the beautiful winter garden. The service was friendly, attentive and on point. The food was a 10 out of 10 and the portions were very generous. I can only recommend the restaurant from the bottom of my heart. The price-performance ratio is totally right here.

We spontaneously received a table on Saturday. Very friendly service. Very good side salad. Food was also good and really reasonably priced.

Very bad. Four of us wanted to have lunch there outside of peak times. Apparently everything was reserved, even though half the dining room was empty. We were then put off coming back in the evening. No thanks. There are really better places in Bad Mergentheim!!! It's not a 5 star restaurant. Then put a sign on the door: CLOSED DAILY OR NO FOOD WITHOUT RESERVATION!

They weren't able to offer a free table, other restaurants can do that better!

Das Restaurant ist gediegen schön dunkel mit Holz ausgekleidet und strahlt fränkische Gemütlichkeit aus. Am Sonntag mittag war es sehr gut besucht und es empfiehlt sich vorab zu reservieren. Mein Schäufele war eher lauwarm und es fehlte die typische Kruste. Selbst für ein Schäufele war das Fleisch eher sehr fett und die Schwarte eher teigig. Die Portion war eher üppig. Die drei Röstitaler und die Dunkelbiersoße waren vorzüglich, gerne hätte ich noch einen weiteren Taler vertragen. Das Altfränkische Dunkelbier war so süffig, daß ich wünschte, nicht mit dem Auto da gewesen zu sein.

We booked here for a birthday. It was very organized and the food was delicious. Extra requests were addressed without any problems. Very few of our guests have eaten here before, but they will come again. And that's what happened to us too! Great team, great food, great ambience.

I was in Bad Mergentheim for rehab. I ate here twice with my husband. The first time we didn't want to go in because it didn't look that inviting from the outside. But when we came in we were thrilled. And the food was great. Salads very fresh and tasty. The meat tastes very, very good. We really liked it there and the staff is super friendly. So this inn is highly recommended.

The food delivered was subpar. It consisted only of finished products. That was money wasted. Now we are both sitting on the toilet bowl. But the driver was nice and the delivery time was shorter than stated.

The taste of the Maultaschen was average and left me with a suspicion of convenience. A little more egg wouldn't have hurt, but the dish with dip is certainly appealing. The service was friendly and attentive, there is nothing to complain about here, not even in the dining room. The prices were also not negative. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities leave a lot to be desired. In addition to the lack of a toilet paper holder and instead a taped-up hole in the wall, you dry your hands with facial tissues, the remains of which you can then wipe off your hands.

We were able to enjoy an excellent meal with you in a beautiful ambience. We will definitely check in with you again.

If you want to eat a delicious schnitzel in a variety of variations, you've come to the right place. Really delicious. The Schäufele that are carried past you also look good enough to bite into. Service was very quick, hardworking and friendly. Portions really big at fair prices. Online table reservation worked great.

The small Schäufele was dry, the usual crispy crust was drowned in the sauce and lay next to the meat. The menu offered 0.3l beer, but it was served in 0.5l glasses that were only half full: apparently there were no suitable glasses available! The small salad fit into a regular coffee cup. The men's toilet only had a small cardboard box with paper to dry hands. The waitress ate behind the counter and then busied herself intensively with her smartphone. The place was a complete failure!

The food was great, we were particularly impressed by the savoy cabbage. Super friendly service. The children were asked whether the sauce should be on or next to the spaetzle. (Parents appreciate that there are experienced staff here). And at the end there were even gummy bears for the kids. We'd love to come back.

It's right at the castle, we had sauerbraten, which was very, very tasty! I can only recommend it, simply a taste explosion! From the sauce, the dumplings, the cabbage to the meat, it's a high standard. Everything tasted great. Simply great.

Very rustic restaurant, very nicely decorated, nice service, unfortunately everything had been pre-ordered, we were still able to eat at a table that arrived an hour and a half later, which was fine. A number of guests came who had enjoyed eating, but everything was reserved. I thought it was a shame that everything was always pre-reserved and what I noticed Tables also stand empty for a very long time

Nach dem "Genuss" des Schäufele hatten wir beide 2 Stunden später Brechdurchfall. Das Schäufele hatte eine Gummikruste, war kaum gewürzt, die Soße tranig und die Spätzle kalt. Die Bedienung war nur so lange freundlich, bis wir das Gericht beanstandet haben. Wir haben es auch nicht aufgegessen, das Fleisch war nicht weich. Das Lokal hat zwar eine nette Atmosphäre und außen sitzt man nett, aber man sollte halt nur was trinken. Essen nicht zu empfehlen.

We decided to have dinner there in the evening. Were escorted straight to a table on the terrace. A very pleasant place when it was still warm at 27°C. There is no longer any waiting time from being seated to being served. And the food was very tasty (liver dumpling soup, Schäufele, cream slices, small salad). Staff very friendly and attentive. We can recommend the restaurant and would love to come back ourselves.
