Gasthaus Zum lustigen Kegler in Bad Rodach

Excellent Italian cuisine with very good value for money. Very friendly staff. The Schlemmerblock (also digital) was accepted without any problems!

We had three orders of cordon bleu with fries and a mushroom sauce. We didn't recognize the cordon bleu at first because it was rolled up. It looked okay at first glance. The cordon bleu was incredibly dry; hunger barely made us eat it. The fries were rock hard; they fell off the plate when you tried to pierce them with a fork. The salad that came with it had no dressing—it was just washed and placed on the plate. But to mention something positive, the mushroom sauce was tasty. Ultimately, though, I wouldn't even serve that kind of food to my dog.

The "Lustige Kegler" (Funny Bowler) lives up to its name and its food. Absolutely fantastic Italian cuisine – so good you might even consider adopting the chef. The service is superb, incredibly attentive, and they seem to anticipate your wine-buying sip before you even think about it yourself. You arrive as a guest and leave as a fan. Anyone who leaves hungry has definitely made a mistake. Highly recommended – we'll definitely be back (very soon)! 🌹🌹🌹

Excellent pizza and Italian food. On Sundays they also serve roast meat with dumplings. The service is always very friendly.

The staff is attentive and the service is good, but the quality of the meat dishes leaves much to be desired. My son's children's schnitzel was frozen, and my pork medallions and the sauce weren't particularly good either. We had fries and croquettes as sides, which were unfortunately the "best" part of our meal. The salad was brown in places and had no dressing. I find the prices too high for the poor quality; I'm happy to pay a bit more for good food, but that's not the case here. In my experience, you shouldn't expect homemade dishes with good ingredients here.

Update December 6, 2025: Unfortunately, our recent visits have shown a decline in the quality of the food and, at times, a less than ideal service. The pizza used to be fantastic, but the last three times it was noticeably worse and very dry. The side dishes, such as fries, are becoming less plentiful each time. A new, young waiter seems to be struggling to understand orders, as he repeats everything multiple times and asks for clarification. Plates are cleared even when you still have a slice of pizza in your hand, or the waiter stands by you when your plate is almost empty and waits until it's completely cleared, even if everyone else at the table is still eating. We visited at least ten times in 2025 and were always offered a complimentary shot afterward. This has (at least for us) been discontinued. And yes, we always left a generous tip. It's a real shame, as it was our favorite local restaurant for a while. Plates are cleared even when you still have a slice of pizza in your hand, or the waiter stands by you waiting until your plate is empty, even if everyone else at the table is still eating. First impressions from early 2025: We've been there several times and it's always been very good. Whether pizza, pasta, schnitzel, cordon bleu, or salad – everything is excellent. There could be a bit more choice for vegetarians, though. The service is also great and very friendly. We'll be back soon.

We were here in the summer and everything was very good. We ate here again today, but the food wasn't good. The schnitzel was pan-fried last time, but today it came from a deep fryer and tasted like toast. The fried vegetables on the fish plate were unfortunately burnt. It was also very loud in the restaurant, which I found unpleasant. The chef offered a cake as an apology. Perhaps it was just an off day.

No toilet paper in the ladies' restrooms, ate pork tenderloin with croquettes.

This very pleasant and excellent restaurant near the Medical Park offers a very good selection of food and drinks, which also represents excellent value for money. The service team also delivers very good service. They are polite and help promptly with questions, as well as with requests for drinks and food. Here, too, they are not pushy; they get straight to the point, as it should be. It is beautifully tucked away between the sports field and the hotel, very discreetly in the background, as befits a good inn. Of course, one could exaggerate, but in this case, it works very well, whether it's with the ordering of drinks and food, which is bridged somewhat with a small gift, but the time is excellent. I could write more, but you should see for yourself and come here.

The pasta wasn't hot. The sauce was from a packet. The turkey was also just a ready-made product. A wine spritzer cost €0.25 and cost €6.50. Totally overpriced. And there wasn't enough wine in it. I come from the industry.

A perfect evening. Very friendly atmosphere, attentive service, and excellent food. Just go there. It's a bit hidden. Parking is no problem in front, including the shooting range.

We used to love going to the "Lustige Kegler." Now, when I read how much a wine spritzer costs, I wonder what's going on in the heads of the owners. It's a rip-off at its finest.

Very, very tasty and great service too. The weather was great, so we were able to enjoy the atmosphere in the beer garden. We'd go back anytime we're in the area. Prices are moderate and more than reasonable for the quality and the accompanying food. My wife and I had an appetizer, main course, and dessert, all with superb portions. We both had two cold drinks and an espresso. And all that for under €70, it was really great.

It was delicious. We came here because my mother is in rehab here in Bad Rodach, so we ate here every now and then when we visited her. It's delicious, and there's a large selection of different dishes, including a wide selection of desserts. You're immersed in the Italian world here, so it's definitely worth having dinner here.

Bad service, the waiter was overwhelmed and everything took a long time

We ended up in Bad Rodach for four weeks for rehab. Luckily, we discovered this restaurant right away. We ate there almost every day with numerous friends and family members (16 adults). The menu is so extensive that we didn't order a single dish twice. Everything we and our guests ate was delicious and plentiful. We also devoured numerous ice cream sundaes. All of them were absolutely delicious. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Even our dog was warmly welcomed every time. If we ever go to Bad Rodach again, we'll definitely come back.

Ordered dumplings with sauerbraten sauce, got ready-made watery roast pork sauce. They swapped them, and then they got dumplings with a tasteless instant sauce. Didn't complain again. My child had lasagna with grease floating in it. My wife had pizza, which was okay. Price/performance ratio was mid-upper range. Conclusion: it used to be better; pizza is edible. But we won't eat here again.

We stopped in here very spontaneously. It was absolutely no problem. It must have been the perfect timing, because about 30 minutes later, more and more guests arrived, so the place quickly filled up. At first, we were very pleasantly surprised by the friendly welcome and the consistently friendly service at our tables. We were even able to vary something that wasn't on the menu (drinks) 👌🏽. We hadn't even finished the "greeting from the kitchen" (olives and baguette) before the food we ordered was served. We thank you for the pleasant atmosphere. Very nice, very child-friendly, and everyone is totally on the ball 👌🏽. We'll definitely be back! The furniture is still from the previous owner, except for the counter, which is already new. Little by little, after all, Rome wasn't built in a day 😊. We wish you all the best and always pleasant, friendly guests.

We were there as a group; the regional/local menu was very small and apparently only offered on Sunday lunches and afternoons. Upon request, it was also available in the evenings. The service was friendly, but a bit pushy; as soon as you were seated, you were expected to be sure what you wanted. They didn't wait for everyone to be sure what they wanted. The food arrived very quickly, and the regional cuisine was very good (5 stars). Unfortunately, the quality of the Italian cuisine (pizza) was much lower than that of the regional cuisine. After the food arrived, one of the servers was always around the table clearing away empty plates and glasses. The whole group perceived this as rather intrusive. At the end, the waitress surprised us with a generous selection of digestifs (espresso, grappa, Ramazzotti) that were on the house, and the ice cream menu was presented. Rating: Food: - 3 stars for Italian cuisine - 5 stars for regional cuisine Service: 3 stars, as the initial ordering process was stressful, and the constant barrage of waiters unfortunately made the meal tiring. I was pleasantly surprised by the pleasant atmosphere, the excellent service, and the quality of the food. They had asparagus with delicious local potatoes. Highly recommended.

The service seems classy but doesn't live up to the standard. The food was solid, with asparagus and a good side dish, but not great. The lasagna simply wasn't seasoned well.

First time here today. Based on the name, I expected a cheap club bar. Super attentive service. Every dish was incredibly delicious, whether it was fish, asparagus, bruschetta, or schnitzel. Cozy garden. Simply a truly wonderful evening. I'd happily go back anytime.

Everyone really enjoyed the food! It was freshly cooked, we didn't have to wait long, and there was also a seasonal menu with asparagus dishes in addition to the regular menu. The service was very attentive and friendly. We were looked after unobtrusively and friendly the entire time. Unfortunately, the restaurant is a bit hidden and inconspicuous in the second row...but it's definitely worth a visit!

Today we had a wonderful celebration with 24 people. The food, the service, everything was very, very good. The food came hot and promptly for everyone to eat together. Unfortunately the older lady is very unfriendly. Came with a baby in light rain and sat on the terrace as everything inside was full. The answer we got was “Yes, and should I walk through the rain now?” and had to leave again. For a restaurant, I would have liked a friendlier and, above all, more child-friendly way of being a guest. Therefore not recommended due to the emphatic level. Unfortunately I can't rate the food... Edit: The older lady sat down on the terrace a little later with coffee and a cigarette.

The restaurant is set back from the parking lot and was recommended to us by friends. We had reserved and got a table in the beer garden because the weather was right. Very accommodating, nice, friendly service that is on the ball. The menu is not huge, but sufficient. From meat to fish to salad. But you get good home cooking in return. We all enjoyed it very much and the prices are reasonable.

First impression from the outside it didn't seem very comfortable, it's right next to the sports field, we thought it was a "typical" sports field restaurant. Very comfortable inside, all seats were occupied, be sure to reserve (we were there on a Saturday), probably because the rehabilitation clinic is nearby. The food was excellent, varied, we were there during the asparagus season (there was an extra menu) - for example, my father was missing a typical roast dish with dumplings. The service was all excellent, quick and on point. The price was also good. So a good recommendation.

Ein netter kleiner Biergarten und sehr freundliches Personal

Eine schöne, traditionelle Gaststätte mit gemütlichem, mit Bäumen beschattenden Biergarten . Obwohl die Gaststätte voll besetzt war, würden wir sehr zügig bedient. Auch das Essen ging relativ schnell. Die Speisekarte ist regional und vielfältig. Das Essen ist geschmackvoll und das Preis - Leistungsverhältnis passt. Bei unserem nächsten Besuch in der Therme werden wir den Tag sicher wieder mit einem guten Essen hier ausklingen lassen.

Wir gehen immer wieder gerne dort essen. Alles, was ich bis jetzt verspeist habe, war vorzüglich. Die Bedienung immer nett und zuvorkommend.

Wir waren begeistert! Haben freitags spontan für 12 Leute ein Restaurant gesucht und wurden hier total freundlich und flott bewirtet.Das Essen war lecker,wir haben gemütlich draußen gesessen----hier kommen wir gern wieder her!

Wir waren mit der Familie hier und haben sehr gut gegessen. Bodenständige Gerichte zu moderaten Preisen und dazu eine sehr zackige Bedienung. Wir hatten uns nicht mal richtig hingesetzt, da gab es schon die Karte und die Getränkeabfrage. Das Essen kam dann auch sehr zügig und war lecker. Das Ambiente ist einfach, aber in Ordnung. Insgesamt waren wir mit dem Abendessen sehr zufrieden.

Man sollte sich nicht vom äußeren Eindruck beirren lassen. Sowohl das Gasthaus als auch die Innenausstattung sind sehr in die Jahre gekommen, daher 3 Sterne Abzug. Das Essen und die Bedienung hingegen sind anstandslos. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und haben zügig unser wirklich leckeres Essen erhalten. Auch den Kindern hat es sehr geschmeckt! Wir können das Gasthaus weiterempfehlen!

Immer, wenn wir in Bad Rodach sind, besuchen wir die Gaststätte "Zum lustigen Kegler" und immer waren wir mit dem Essen sehr zufrieden. Die Preise sind angemessen und die Speisen werden frisch zubereitet. Das freundliche und flotte Personal bewältigt die Bewirtung auch bei großer Gästezahl.
