Gasthaus Sonne in Engen

The Reich family's brickyard restaurant is a wonderful culinary destination; the service and cuisine are outstanding. The ambiance is sophisticated yet relaxed and welcoming. Our dinner began with a superb field salad with a delightful raspberry dressing. For our main course, we enjoyed a tender roasted venison and wild boar combination with delicious side dishes, as well as tagliolini with flavorful winter truffles (from Wahlwies!). Our dessert was a perfectly baked chocolate tart with a still-creamy center, accompanied by a wonderful plum compote and vanilla ice cream. Absolutely delicious! The house wines and a smooth, refreshing sherry as an aperitif are also highly recommended. A true asset to the Engen culinary scene! Reservations are recommended.

When we're on our way to Lake Constance, this is where our vacation begins. Delicious food at reasonable prices, very friendly and attentive staff, clean restrooms, and a beautiful view from the terrace. It's also one of the most beautiful rest stops I know.
