Reservation super recommended on weekends for lunch, it was fully booked when I went so glad we had one. Classic Bayern dishes, menu of the day available as well as the normal menu. Asparagus were available now for the season so consider those, they are delicious.

Amazing restaurant, the best schnitzel in a long time

We were able to drop in spontaneously at 4 p.m. It wasn't busy, and we were quickly treated to a delicious and the best schnitzel ever. Very comfortable seating and highly recommended!

The food is very good, the service is fast and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. It's worth a visit.

I was very pleasantly surprised! For starters, I had a hearty beef soup with noodles and fresh vegetables – cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots – everything was nice and crispy, the soup was flavorful, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. For my main course, I had the Viennese fried chicken: super crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside – just as it should be. The potato salad was perfectly balanced, with tomatoes, radishes, and a delicious potato and cucumber salad on the side. One small downside: Unfortunately, cranberries weren't served, even though they're often a staple in Austria – but they weren't on the menu either. I reordered them, but unfortunately, they weren't available. Nevertheless, the place was very busy for a Monday, with an international clientele, and the service staff was extremely friendly and attentive. You feel completely at home there – I'd love to come back!

Nice restaurant with a beer garden feel, right on the street, but the noise level is perfectly acceptable. The main courses are really great, although there could be more vegetarian options. On the other hand, the desserts and pastries haven't really impressed me. Apple strudel wasn't really my thing; it was too bland. The Kaiserschmarrn is ridiculously large, so I'd say two big eaters would be satisfied as a main course here. On the plus side, it's made with raisins and almonds and is well caramelized, which is how it should be. On the down side, the consistency is extremely compact, 3cm thick lumps with no visible air in them; fluffy is better. The coffee is average, a bit too strong for my taste.

Recently renovated, excellent traditional Bavarian restaurant. The Käsespätzle for example are home-made, hand-made (!). The menu is limited but all dishes are very well prepared and high quality. Additionally, the restaurant offers seasonal dishes like asparagus. Value is great for the food quality and most dishes come with side salad. Also offering special Italian coffee and espresso (Hausbrandt). Staff is quick and very friendly. Highly recommended!

The decor is very new and a mix of sobriety and old-school style, reminiscent of a Bavarian inn. The food arrived quickly and was served piping hot, top notch👌🏻 The prices are moderate and the portions generous. There's seating in the small beer garden, which is already overgrown with trees. I would especially like to emphasize the very friendly and prompt service🙏⭐️, which is very rare these days.

Had a great time here, food was great and service as well. We were in Munich for 3 days and came here twice! We had Adela as a server and she was incredible, one of the best servers I have had in my life.

Very good food, family environment, in a quiet area in Laim, 300 m from the U5 stop and 400 from the tram line 18 stop. It also has a courtyard with tables for days with good weather!

We've been there several times with our company, and in terms of quality, it's one of the better Bavarian restaurants in Munich. The price/performance ratio is excellent. The portions are extra-large, the ingredients are fresh, and the taste is unbeatable. The clientele tends to be older, but the atmosphere is very cozy. There's also a small, sheltered outdoor area where you can sit comfortably. The overall package is absolutely perfect, and I'd happily recommend the restaurant if you're looking for a quiet evening away from tourists.

We were on vacation in Munich for a few days and came across the Gasthaus Gotthardgarten by chance. The food was very tasty, we had onion meat and cheese spaetzle. The service was also very friendly, an absolute recommendation from us!

Very good cuisine for many years

What a pleasant discovery! Down-to-earth and tasty dishes are served under a mighty chestnut tree: the lamb tastes like lamb and the vegetables are not overcooked but have a bite and a sausage salad is so wonderfully balanced in vinegar without drowning in sourness that you are tempted to wipe the plate with bread. In addition, despite being close to the street, you can sit quietly in the garden and have a conversation without having to shout at each other.

I had the pike perch fillet with spinach and potatoes. The fish was super tasty and tender, the potatoes were cooked to perfection, the spinach was seasoned very tasty. We had a great time. Great atmosphere, modern and cozy, friendly service. We'll be back ☺️

We stopped in spontaneously for lunch – very friendly staff, who immediately pointed out the daily special. The fish soup was a bit too salty, but the ambiance was nice. Next time, we'll try the promising schnitzel, which was on every other guest's table.

5 star Bavarian German dining experience. We were seated immediately although I am told that it is wise to make a reservation. I had the Wienerschnitzel and my family had the the pig with skin special and dumplings. The coleslaw which my son and I don't typically eat was also delicious. Then we finished it off with a scrumptious apple strudel. The staff is very friendly and proud of their food. We want to explore other places to eat while we are here but we may come right back here.

Were visiting Munich. Since we only had breakfast at the hotel, we were looking for a good guesthouse. And that was only 500 meters from the hotel. The food was first class, the service was quick and courteous and the prices were also moderate. An absolute recommendation from me. Because my veal wiener schnitzel was so good, I ate it twice. 👍👍👍

Delicious roast pork, is still available after the landlord (?) tells you/calls you!!! Instead, suckling pig, which was mixed and very clear, 2 dumplings 👌, cabbage (salad) not dressed very well, disgusting (also meant to point out that a quarter of a tomato decorated the cabbage, was probably the best thing about the salad because it was so shrinky) , Service was nice, but we won't be going there any time soon.

Nice, small restaurant with a small beer garden. Rather inconspicuous from the outside. Very nice service and super delicious food. Everything freshly prepared and nothing out of the box. Prices completely ok. For me it's an insider tip for anyone who wants to eat deliciously and relatively cheaply in Munich. Update 2024: Since we enjoyed it so much last time, we were guests in the Gotthard Garden again about 3 weeks ago. And what can I say: it was again excellent and extremely tasty. I think our waiter's name was Zoltan or Zoran and he is an absolute man of honor —> always friendly and with a nice saying on his lips. Great and keep it up - we'll definitely be back at some point!!

Super cozy restaurant with a beer garden and Bavarian cuisine. The house recommendation, the suckling pig knuckle was very tasty and the skin was crispy. There was also a homemade coleslaw, homemade dumplings and an ultra-tasty gravy. The service was very courteous and you felt very welcome. I found the price-performance ratio (main course €18.90) to be extremely good. Therefore, an absolute recommendation from me. As soon as I'm in the area again, I'll definitely come back.

As always, when you visit Munich Laim, you have to eat here! We asked for a little more dressing and were helped straight away. Sitting in the beer garden is really pleasant. The service is top, the food is plentiful, fresh and very tasty. We recommend. Probably a lot of regulars.

Bavarian restaurant with beer garden. Parking can be found in the surrounding area. Better with public transport. The food is good. The Wiener Schnitzel didn't have the bubbles in the breading as you would expect. But it was good. I would have liked the fried potatoes to have more flavor. Overall it was okay and we would come here again if we are in the area.

I followed the reviews again. It was probably nothing! Fresh Bavarian sausage salad. The bread has nothing to do with Bavarian, just dry. If there had been enough brew, the bread could have been soaked. The radishes were already brown when they arrived, even though the journey from the kitchen was short. Conclusion, 4.6 rating is too high here.
