We had lunch at your restaurant today. We had the roast pork with crackling, and it was absolutely delicious. For dessert, we had Kaiserschmarrn. It was the best Kaiserschmarrn I've ever eaten. It was incredibly fluffy inside and crispy on the outside, and the flavor was simply fantastic. Truly exceptional! The service was very friendly, and they even wished us all the best for the rest of our vacation when we left. We highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you so much for everything! 🫶🏻

Anyone wanting to eat here with (small) children is absolutely out of place. Strollers are not allowed, there are no changing facilities, and no high chairs... Offering something like this in 2025 is questionable... The Spätzle, which we ordered without sauce, were dripping with grease. On top of that, the server was clearly not very good at listening... Even after repeatedly pointing out that the order had been taken incorrectly or not at all, it was completely ignored. Very disappointing.

We've always received quick and professional service here. The creamy mushroom sauce and the trio of dumplings are very tasty, as is the house-brewed (alcohol-free) beer. The ambiance and decor are classically Bavarian, but very well-maintained, clean, and nicely decorated. The selection of vegan dishes could be improved; other restaurants and breweries offer a more modern approach in this regard.

A cosy Wirtshaus with a solid, down-to-earth menu. Most of the dishes were flavourful and well executed. The Fleischpflanzerl were a highlight - tender, juicy and served with a rich, smooth sauce. The Schnitzel were also great: thin, perfectly crispy and exactly what you hope for in a traditional Wirtshaus. Unfortunately, the Kaiserschmarrn was a letdown. It was too soft, lacked the characteristic caramelisation, and the portion size was small compared to what you typically get in Germany. Service was efficient, with food and drinks arriving quickly. Overall, good food with a few weak points — worth a visit, especially for the savoury dishes.

This restaurant is a traditional one: The old house, wooden indoors! It is traditional german style and cuisine. I loved it! The staff was fast and kind, the food delicious. The pricing is reasonable. Would definitely go again! Apparently it is a chain with multiple locations throughout the city ;)

Today I googled for the best Kaiserschmarrn in Munich and came across "Ayinger am Rotkreuzplatz." Thanks to all the reviewers before me, you were all right. Super delicious food, the Kaiserschmarrn of course, but also the roast pork. Our service was very refreshing and cheerful. That, too, is contagious. The beer was €3.90 for a half-liter.

Lovely pub, very cozy! The food was excellent, and the Ayinger beer is excellent. We'd love to come back; the atmosphere is fantastic and relaxed.

Cozy regional restaurant with live Bavarian music. The Kaiserschmarrn was first-class, and the beer tasted excellent. The two musicians created a great atmosphere and were attentive to the guests. If I were in Munich more often, I would visit Ayinger again and again.

Unfortunately, I have to edit my review from 2 years ago (it's still below). I think management has changed because the staff wasn't nearly as friendly and welcoming as last time, the food quality has dropped, and to top it all off, they didn't tell us on the bill, and we found a 10% tip added by them! Too bad, we won't be returning. (2023) Kind and friendly staff, excellent traditional Bavarian cuisine! Much better and less cheesy than the large, "touristy" places in the city center.

Two of us visited this restaurant on the evening of September 14, 2025, and got a table without a reservation. It's a simple restaurant with a quiet atmosphere, just what you'd expect in Bavaria (as a non-Bavarian). Friendly and attentive staff served us the cheapest beer in Munich (a 0.5L Helles for €3.90!). Other beers were available, of course, and delicious (my favorite: Altbairisch Dunkel!). The food arrived hot and fresh, and the taste and quantity were impeccable (my Käsespätzle were absolutely fantastic!). Price-wise, this restaurant is a bit lower than the surrounding restaurants, or even those in the city center. The Ayinger on Rotkreuzplatz was our best dining experience in Munich, so we highly recommend it for visitors to the city!

Update September 14, 2025 Unfortunately, the service has deteriorated significantly. We probably won't go there again for a while. The food is still good, but unfortunately, the overall experience is no longer quite right. It couldn't have been better. Thank you for the wonderful evening.

Great decor, great service (quick and attentive, nice boss), good beer, delicious food, well located (public transport to Rotkreuzplatz) and nice outdoor area.

First of all, the Kaiserschmarren was world-class! Fluffy and truly delicious. I've been very critical of it lately, but it's definitely worth a visit at Aying! Unfortunately, I didn't find the service so good; it was a bit arrogant. I went back a few weeks later; the service was a bit better, but there's still room for improvement.

Food was a pleasure, service was friendly. In my opinion, this is where you get the best Kaiserschmarrn in the city. Roast pork is also highly recommended! It's a shame that the terrace hardly gets any sun.

Unfortunately, a bad experience. Today, Saturday, August 16, 2025 We wanted to enjoy a delicious meal on the terrace, but unfortunately, we were rudely informed that it was closed. It was 25 degrees Celsius. Well, Other people were eating outside!

I wasn't able to dine here on the evening of August 15th. We arrived at 8:55 PM and the kitchen was closed; they only served us drinks... Strange, considering the restaurant was actually open.

Highly recommended. Incredibly delicious food. The Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) were divine, and the Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes) was divine. The service was very friendly, and the location was just what you'd expect from a local restaurant. I can only echo the many positive reviews. Anyone in Munich should dine here at least once!

The roast pork for €18.90 wasn't a bargain, but both the meat, dumplings, and sauce were top-notch. Unfortunately, our second order of a "Schnitt" (a German "Schnitt") came with more than three-quarters of the foam. We were also told that a private party was about to arrive (which we didn't see...) and that the order for the second beer (the aforementioned "Schnitt") was somewhat uninspired. Perhaps the waiter wasn't aware of this either?

Good daily specials at reasonable prices

Although there were a certain number of free tables inside and outside, we were turned away by a short, overweight waiter for not having a reservation. First, the restaurant should train its staff on how to treat guests politely and respectfully. Even if he might have had to serve many tables alone or had just returned from a family member's funeral, respect comes first. Just plain bad.

I was looking for a place to drink beer and came here because of the good reviews, but this place is really delicious and the servers are all very friendly… If you’re Korean, you should definitely come here!!!! The bathroom is also very clean..

Five of us (business partners and friends) visited last weekend. Subconsciously, one of us tore a few beer mats while talking. Then—after we had already paid a mid-three-figure bill and were on our way out—a male server first verbally attacked us, and then on our way out, even physically (!) by grabbing one of us. There were no insults, which makes the whole situation all the more shocking. No apology or similar has been forthcoming. In the days following the incident, we read here that the person in charge himself accused us in reviews of destroying chairs and insulting staff, which is a deliberately false claim. We have never seen such behavior in a restaurant with a reputation for excellence.

I think the nicest service I've ever experienced works here. Top-notch restaurant. Top-notch beer garden. The schnitzel, etc., is amazingly good.

We went there twice. The first time was nice. A very friendly lady served us. We ordered food, and it was served 5 minutes later, which we found very unusual. The food was good. Second visit. Loud, a neutral man served us, and the food wasn't tasty at all. It seems to be a surprise package after a visit there. A shame.

The main dish we ordered had a smaller serving size, but the flavor was fantastic. We especially loved their kaiserschmarrn, which was extremely flavorful and satisfying.

I had a very good impression of this restaurant. Unfortunately that changed last night. I went there for dinner and ordered Natur Schnitzel with Käse Spätzle. In the menu it was Butter Spätzle, I have asked to change it with Käse Spätzle. The waiter took my order and served me Butter Spätzle. When I asked the reason he said he can provide me a small portion of Käse Spätzle along with it. But this dish comes with Butter Spätzle. I told him that I had this dish with Käse Spätzle for lunch in this same restaurant some months ago. He was rude at that point and I simply didn't want to waste my time arguing with him. He also spilled Beer on our table while serving it to my husband and didn't care to clean it afterwards. In summary really rude and bad service.

I recommend the Kaiserschmarrn (super fluffy) and the Munich schnitzel. Both were delicious. There's nice seating inside and outside. The service was really friendly. I would come back anytime. There's a special on right now! Beer is only €3.90❤️

Overcharged by the restaurant. What should have been 7x becomes 93 Euro. But I believe it is just a genuine mistake. We should have reacted faster but it was difficult to double-check the billed items when the receipt was not presented. We were a family visiting the restaurant for lunch. The waiter was smiling at everyone else except us. The attitude was very obvious. The food is also pricier than most other bavarian restaurants.

The service is truly exceptional; the waitress was super friendly, especially to my granddaughter. After asking, my wife received the schnitzel as a senior citizen's plate. The idea of ​​donating a slice to the kitchen staff for €5 appealed to us, as did the staff, who personally thanked us. The restaurant is beautifully and discreetly decorated, as befits a Bavarian restaurant, without any kitsch. My daughter thought the vegetarian dish (cheese dumplings) was incredibly good; the chef really put a lot of effort into it, including the accompanying salad. The fried potatoes with the schnitzel were low in salt and not at all crispy. My duck was juicy, but a bit tough. On another visit, we again had a friendly and very attentive waitress. The Tyrolean Groestel was a modern but successful interpretation with crunchy vegetables. The roast leftovers weren't tough, and the whole thing wasn't stuck together with a mess of scrambled eggs, but topped with a fried egg. The children's schnitzel with fries was good, and my companions were also satisfied with the meatballs and the potato dumplings. I didn't like the ketchup and mayo that came in plastic bags.

The beers are top quality and pair perfectly with the dishes. Perfect spot for a relaxed evening out with friends or family. Definitely recommended if you’re in the area!

Simply great, always happy to come back

We were at Ayinger today and once again we all left very satisfied. My roast pork for €17.90 was exactly as it should be. Two large slices, crispy crust with a layer of fat still attached to the meat, sauce, and two kinds of dumplings. A coleslaw is served separately. It takes a while to eat it, and afterwards there's hardly any room left for dessert. Then it's just an espresso or an affogato, which they also serve here. The friendly waitress immediately pointed out the senior portion option to older guests! No matter what was ordered, the other pub classics, such as the homemade meatballs, were also tried and tested and very tasty. Only the interior perhaps deserved a more imaginative decorator. We'd be happy to come back.

Very good, clear menu with traditional dishes, some interpreted with their own twist, together with great service, this is a top restaurant and a real asset for the district. We go there regularly and really enjoy eating there or just for a few halfs.

I organized a dinner here for 14 people on the occasion of my birthday. Super friendly service and top service. As a highlight, I was able to order a 10l barrel of beer to the table, which I tapped myself. Very tasty beer, but the food was also great. Can only be recommended.

Customers were always offered drinks like their companions. My visit here today was more than unfriendly from the new waiter. The restaurant is really good, but I am extremely disappointed with the new service that I will avoid the restaurant as soon as this uncouth service is in the restaurant. A Bavarian economy, plain and simple ambience, but it is completely sufficient. I had seen the wonderful roast pork online with a great crust, which shouldn't be missed. I was very disappointed in the restaurant - there was no traditional pork roast made from pork loin, pork shoulder or pork leg. It was a rolled roast with very, very little crust. The dumplings were too firm, the bread dumpling must be fluffy. The potato dumpling was at the limit. Well, and the sauce was too thick and had a very strange smell, beer sauce yes. Coleslaw was good. The waiter was friendly and waited 25 minutes for coffee. Although it wasn't that busy, it was around 1:30 p.m. I think it's a shame when you post pictures of food on the internet and what you actually get on your plate isn't identical.

The food is traditionally Bavarian, very tasty, sensational sauce for the duck, crispy, the schnitzels are very good and the vegetarian food is also specially prepared. And at the end, probably the best Kaiserschmarren we have ever eaten in Munich.
