Full marks!!! Food that actually tastes like home, a waiter who loves his job, lives it and does it to perfection and just have a great time in an uncomfortable restaurant with a great ambience! It was great, the roulade was nice with cucumber and meat (meat was new to me, but it's good), delicious dumplings and you can order as much sauce as you want. The wild herb soup as a starter was excellent. We had a great time here, period. :-)

Leider sehr enttäuschend. Wir hatten keine Reservierung. Vor Ort bekamen wir die Information, dass wir den nächsten freien Tisch ( in ca 30 Minuten) bekommen könnten. Wir sagten dies zu. Als wir nach 25 Minuten zurück kehrten, hatte man den Tisch unmittelbar zuvor an andere Besucher vergeben. Wir wurden mit dem Kommentar "abgefertigt ", dass sich die Situation nun geändert habe.

Today we were at the Feuerkugel inn. And what can I say... it was awesome! Actually only chosen as an emergency choice, it was the best decision to eat there! The staff was super friendly, accommodating, funny and great. The food, we had beef roulade and sauerbraten, each with red cabbage and Thuringian dumplings, was worth every bite. Super tender and delicious. All in all it was a very successful evening and visit there! Highly recommended!

Three of us had dinner there on Friday evening. Reservation necessary. Near the Krämerbrücke.We ate a typical regional meal. Sauerbraten, liver, everything was very good and plentiful. Sauce will be added again if necessary. Service very courteous and friendly. Ambience very pleasant. Highly recommended

I've been to this restaurant several times and have always had very good service. Yesterday I spontaneously went to this restaurant with my wife and when we arrived a table had just become available. When I asked if there was an available table, the waitress told us there wasn't one and it would probably take a while for a table to become available. As we stepped aside, I heard the customer behind us also ask for a table (he also didn't have a reservation), and I saw the waitress immediately lead him to the newly vacated table. In summary, the restaurant decides which customers they want to serve in a discriminatory manner.

Great location and staff, food was very, very good and the price wasn't bad either.

I had a very good meal with my wife. Unfortunately it is always fully booked and reservations were no longer possible, but due to high demand, after 30 minutes of waiting and a very nice waiter, we managed to get a table for two. Many thanks to the staff. Highly recommended.

Das Gasthaus wird meiner Meinung nach völlig überbewertet. Der Gastraum mit viel Holz ist traditionell schön, aber das war‘s dann auch schon. Viele freundliche Bedienungen, ja der Laden läuft. Die Rinderroulade, das Aushängeschild, das nahezu jeder Gast wählt, war trocken und die Soße, von der man in einen Sauciere nachordern kann, nicht einem Schmorgericht gemäß eingekocht. Man isst und macht wieder Platz für die Nächsten.

It's impossible how interested customers are turned away!!!!! We wanted to eat something in this restaurant, unfortunately everything was occupied. We then asked if it would be possible later, which the waiter said yes. When we wanted to make a reservation for a later date, the waiter just shouted "No" very unfriendly and loudly for whatever reason. So this restaurant is done for us. We don't need to allow ourselves to be bullied in this way.

Very solid restaurant, slightly higher prices but also good quality food. You should like it hearty and traditional. The boiled beef in horseradish didn't appeal to me as well. But I think that's more a question of taste since I tried it and not the problem of the inn. But the roulades were very, very well received.

Very tasty Thuringian specialties in a cozy atmosphere.

Together with colleagues, I visited this rustic restaurant in the old town of Erfurt. I was expecting Thuringian cuisine and was not disappointed. The roulade with red cabbage and dumplings was very tasty and when we asked, we were also given free sauce so that the dumplings could float. The service was nice, quick and very polite. I would call the furnishings rustic, but clean and absolutely appropriate. The Feuerkugel is a great restaurant and worth (at least) a visit.

Food was okay so far, a bit overpriced... Staff arrogant to almost arrogant when entering the restaurant. I thought, like in GDR times. Usher impossible. You can be happy if someone else comes.

We hardly had to wait for the friendly service and the food because we were there right at 12. Unfortunately, the Thuringian dumplings did not meet our expectations and their price. The roulade was very good, the sauerbraten was quite dry. Although we remembered the restaurant well, especially from previous visits, today it was unfortunately no more than average.

Wonderful atmosphere and rustic traditional Thuringian cuisine with great Thuringian dumplings, made with a solid recipe by Grandma Käthe, who seems to somewhat stand behind the brand. The historic restaurant (not named ”Feuerkugel or Fireball” then) had its inception in the late 1580s and is hence one of Erfurt’s oldest standing establishments. We enjoyed the Sauerbraten and the (meat filled) Thüringer Rouladen, never had them filled with meat but as the Sauerbraten they were authentic in taste and had a simple savoury taste profile, just like they are meant to be. The red cabbage or Rotkraut is excellent in taste and not too sour like you find in many restaurants in Thuringia. The Klöße or dumplings have lovely buttered breadcrumb on top and are filled with buttered roasted white bread, just like they are meant to be - definitely freshly made. The only downside was the extra sauce they offer, as it seemed a bit generic and not the same as neither of the original sauces that came with the Sauerbraten and Rouladen. The grilled and ham-coated dumplings were very tasty too, as for the salad - it was good and tasty but definitely not their strong point or signature dish. The home-brewed country beer was a little on the sour side, too sour for our liking. Generally a wonderful restaurant with amazing authentic Thuringian cuisine, yet very pricey - with authentic dishes at almost €25 each, it’s downright not affordable for the working class, which is a bit sad, because they too should enjoy these wonderful treats.

Nachdem wir eine kleine Extrarunde durch die Altstadt geschlendert sind, weil im Außenbereich alle Plätze belegt waren, bekamen wir in dem gemütlichen Innenhof einen schönen Tisch. Wir entschieden uns für gebratenen Zander auf Meerrettich-Stampf und für Ochsenbäckchen mit Thüringer Klößen. wir wurden sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend bedient. Die beiden Gerichte waren äußerst lecker - wir haben alles bis auf den letzten Krümel gegessen.

I was there for the third time now. The food is exceptionally authentic and very tasty. Old memories come flooding back and the taste of my childhood was everywhere. We ate at Feuerkugel this evening and I really have to say, the food is simply very tasty. The dishes are beautifully prepared and there is something for everyone. But our connoisseur Sabrina particularly blew us away We really liked her super friendly nature, especially towards our two children. We can highly recommend the restaurant not only because of the delicious food, but especially because of Sabrina. Thanks for that.

This inn on a side street near the Krämerbrücke is sensational. It starts at the reception, where a waiter shows you the table with his blunt but loving manner. Then the food. Home cooking very well prepared. The meat, we had the boiled beef and the pork cheeks, everything cooked perfectly with great dumplings and sauces that were very tasty. Traditional culinary delight, in a great ambience with very friendly staff who are happy to have a quick saying on their lips. An absolute must for every visit to Erfurt. I would give 10 stars if I could!

Very good food, combined with a great ambience and courteous service. No intrusiveness from the service staff, quick work in the kitchen and a great atmosphere. All in all, this was a wonderful visit to the restaurant. In terms of price, the Feuerkugel inn is good middle class and absolutely affordable. It will definitely be added to our restaurant portfolio! The inn is definitely worth a visit!

Extremely delicious Thuringian cuisine, fantastically soft ox cheeks, homemade sauces, very attentive and entertaining staff. You can sit on the traffic-calmed street, at the back in the beer garden or inside.

The food was great and the service was very nice. I have rarely eaten such good roulades. It was a bit noisy, but otherwise highly recommended.

We were in the restaurant with 10 people. It was registered. We got there wishing to get an outdoor table. The arrogant and very unfriendly waiter couldn't find an option and so we had to eat our food in the restaurant when the outside temperature was 30°C. Even when we wanted to smoke a cigarette, he immediately came running after us and immediately told us in his snooty and arrogant way that this wasn't possible here and there. The food was very tasty and requests were also fulfilled. Conclusion: Nice restaurant with home-style Thuringian cuisine, unfortunately with a waiter who really spoils your visit to the restaurant.

We were a fun group of girls. The waiter was very cynical and bad-tempered. He sometimes responded to questions with not very nice words. Small wishes were not fulfilled. For example, we had pre-ordered and wanted to sit outside. At 30 degrees. This was not possible, although there was still space and these places were only reserved much later

I'll keep it very short... Go there, it's worth it! I'm actually more of a critic, but there was nothing to criticize here. Ambience great, nothing that could be perceived as disturbing. Das Essen war von mir und meiner Frau nicht wirklich gut. Verstehe nicht wie das Lokal an die vielen positiven Bewertungen kommt. Leider eine echte Touristenabzocke. Nie wieder!!!! Bedienung war gut und sehr aufmerksam, konnte das mäßige Essen nicht kompensieren. Ich schreibe diese kritischen Bewertung nicht gerne, möchte zukünftige Gäste die Enttäuschungen ersparen.

I've never eaten so badly, but never really. I wouldn't even put something like that in front of my visitors. The animal died three or four times, such wasted meat that you couldn't eat, it just wasn't possible. I've never eaten such bad red cabbage, but Mildessa's red cabbage is better. And the dumplings were probably from Maggi too. And that for almost €23. That was a shame, no apology or a free drink....nothing. I would fire this chef immediately. I didn't want to go there because there weren't many people there, that says a lot about a place. The restaurants next to it were jam-packed. I wasn't given the disappointment of experiencing a nice Thuringian meal.

The menu is not that different from the other restaurants with Thuringian food, but this is not a tourist trap, but a restaurant with really good food. We can recommend the wild herb soup, the salads, the sauerbraten, the black beer meat and of course the dumplings. Definitely worth a visit…

Without a reservation, we easily got a table for 13 people around 3:30 p.m. The service is worth highlighting here. There were consultations and pleasant communication. Local beers and home-style food were served. The Feuerkugel inn can be recommended without reservation.

Cozy restaurant with a quiet outdoor area in the inner courtyard. The menu is not overloaded, there are authentic Thuringian dishes here (there is also a small selection of vegetarian dishes). The food was very good! It's also great that you can get seconds of the delicious sauce if you wish. This means the food doesn't have to be swimming in the sauce when it's served. Here you are offered delicious food with great service at a good price! Top price-performance ratio!

The food is very good and the service is also perfect. However, I think it's excessive to charge €3.40 for 0.4 liters of water. People like me, who hardly consume alcohol or soft drinks, are forced to resort to expensive water in restaurants. In no other country in the world is water in gastronomy as expensive as here in Germany.

Despite the full house, we were well seated after a short wait. Our waitress Stephan with “AI” between the M and the K - was sensational - eloquent and authentically honest in response to the small comment about the chef's infatuation #SomethingZuMielSalz. This restaurant is completely recommended and on normal Saturdays, well-known singers sometimes sit at the neighboring table :-)

We went to this quaint Thuringian restaurant for dinner on Friday. Luckily we reserved in advance - the places were in high demand. We had Thuringian specialties - of course with dumplings and regional beer. It was super delicious! The service was very quick, incredibly friendly and more than made up for any small mix-ups. I can fully recommend the fireball.

We are very excited about our visit to the Feuerkugel inn! Since we didn't have a reservation, we tried our luck there on Saturday morning (6 p.m.) and it was worth it! Despite a number of occupied tables and reservations, we got a seat. The service staff should be particularly praised at this point, because without exception they were all very friendly, attentive, courteous and humorous. The dishes (spinach dumplings, beef roulade and roast pork) were all delicious, especially the sauces! If we visit Erfurt again, we will definitely come back!

We spontaneously visited the Feuerkugel inn on Good Friday and were served very friendly and treated to extremely delicious Thuringian specialties. The atmosphere is also very cozy and overall we felt very welcome as guests. A full 5 out of 5 delicious Thuringian dumplings. 🙂

We spontaneously came over for dinner and were then invited in straight away. Our child (1 year old) was sitting in the stroller, and right at the entrance we were told to put the stroller down. Our child was already a bit tired, so we wanted to leave him in the stroller. We were given a high chair and were able to put our child in the high chair while eating. Because of the tiredness, our child became more and more restless. When asked again about the stroller at the table, the immediate response was “No, that’s not possible,” even though two chairs at the table could have simply been exchanged for the stroller. So both parents ate alone & one parent had to go out with our child because he was too tired to sit in the high chair. The question is, how are parents supposed to do this with a baby who can't even sit? And are dependent on the stroller because the baby can only lie down? Unfortunately, it's a bit discriminatory when it comes to babies and toddlers who can't sit in a chair for long. Unfortunately, you couldn't enjoy your stay in the restaurant at all and you were just stressed. A pity!

Great food - although for my taste the sauerbraten can be marinated for longer - but that's a matter of taste - great and genuine gastro service - only one point deducted because it is relatively loud - a few sound-absorbing elements would make it more comfortable.
