Gasthaus Eisernes Kreuz in Kempten (Allgäu)

Mega nice and attentive staff, really tasty and traditional food! I'm not from Kempten, but I immediately felt at home. I'll definitely do it again, thank you!!!

On the recommendation of a good friend, he and another friend went there for a “men’s evening”. Heard a lot of positive things. Upon entering, I had a "deco flash" - someone had gone wild! :-) The place was very tight for a taller person! Luckily we reserved seats, but we were able to move us because I was sitting in the way. Very friendly, courteous staff, drinks very quickly! Food took a while. 2x schnitzel with fries, 1x three little pigs. Very tasty, but with a price of over 14 euros for a schnitzel, the portions could have been a little larger, or at least a handful more fries. In addition to the bill there were 2 chocolate sweets for everyone. I probably won't go there again as it doesn't have a unique selling point (for me, as a bigger man with the corresponding hunger).

Were here for the first time today and will definitely come back. I haven't eaten so well in a long time. Portions are plentiful, price/performance ratio is absolutely right 👍🏼 super nice hosts, great service 👍🏼

Everything is more perfect than I expected. The atmosphere is super cozy, the food is great. We got a warm welcome and my kid got some little gifts as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

There were 6 people there for lunch. We ordered different dishes. From cheese sparrows, meat and fish. It was super delicious. The portions are plentiful. The service is awesome. Recommendation 100%

What a beautiful and original restaurant. Great food, nice portions, fresh, tasty, inexpensive. So there is still a really good, home-style German inn in Kempten.

Definitely a 12/10 here :) All the dishes we had were really tasty, the waitresses were friendly and funny, and the atmosphere was full of character. We felt absolutely comfortable.

We just had dinner with 7 people at the Eisernes Kreuz inn. From the greeting to the farewell, everything was just right. The food and service were as good as you can rarely enjoy today. Big praise at this point. The prices are more than fair. All 7 people were thrilled. The only drawback, but again fair for the quality of the food, was the slightly longer waiting time. But you're happy to accept that.

Waited 1.5 hours for food. If you have all day, you eat, but otherwise it doesn't happen quickly.

The food was very tasty, everything is freshly prepared so take some time. The staff was very nice, friendly and very attentive. Unfortunately we're only here for vacation otherwise we would eat there more often.

It was a very pleasant and delicious meal

S U P E R! Very good food, freshly prepared and also: enough. Very reasonable prices for delicious food. We had the spare ribs and the pork schnitzel with cognac sauce, with salads and fries. Each with a giant glass with half a liter of beer and half a liter of Coca Cola. Together for less than € 39.00.... and you can pay with Pay Pal, but not with a bank card! This is how they pay attention to the little ones. But it paid off, the place was almost full. It wasn't even 6pm yet! A really nice local place with some people from the neighborhood having fun eating and drinking. That's always a good sign!

Because of the many positive reviews, we went to the “Iron Cross” in Kempten-Durach on Sunday evening. And what should I say? Simply great, can't be topped. The portions are really big, a taste you can eat and the price is really reasonable, very low for the large portions. And very important: the service staff are super nice, always up for a joke and respond to every customer request straight away. All in all, definitely recommended.

We stopped at the inn while passing through, very nice service, extremely service-oriented, the food was very tasty, would be happy to come back the next time we were in transit. We also particularly liked the furnishings of the guest room.

Great little inn. We were lucky to get a place for four people. It's best to reserve in advance. Very good and inexpensive food. We just had to wait a little long for the food, actually not a problem if it was announced when ordering, especially with children... Otherwise everything to the best of our satisfaction! Again any time!!!

It's great for celebrating. Eating takes almost 2 hours...well. Otherwise ok. Carnival people are ❤️welcome.

Cozy restaurant 😊 We visit the restaurant regularly as it offers such good home-style food at a very reasonable price. The waiting times are a little longer, but it is absolutely worth it. Many guests play cards here or simply meet in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly, and the highlight is the sweet extra you get after paying. A thoroughly recommended address!

Very tasty food, and the restaurant is also a very good host, something I've never experienced before. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by. The apple strudel is particularly recommended!

Rustikale, gemütliche Wirtschaft. Aber wichtig ist, was auf dem Teller ankommt. Und das stimmt hier. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis stimmt auch. Und es schmeckt !

Leckeres Essen und freundliche Bedienung. Hatten eine Ente mit Blaukraut und Knödel, sowie Currywurst mit Pommes. Beides hat richtig lecker geschmeckt und hat uns gut satt gemacht. Das ganze zu einem vernünftigen Preis. Am Sonntag Abend auch noch genügend Parkplätze am Haus. Wir kommen wieder und empfehlen das Restaurant wärmstens weiter!

Das Essen war sehr gut und der Service sehr freundlich. Es ist schön das es auf der Karte Gerichte gibt die man sonst kaum mehr irgendwo bekommt. Z. B. Schinkennudeln, Saurer Käs usw. Finde ich richtig toll. 👍

Essen war gut und relativ günstig, allerdings hatten wir sehr lange Wartezeit und Kartenzahlung ist nicht möglich!

Haben kässpatzen cordon bleu und Salat zum mitnehmen gehabt, sehr sehr gut geschmeckt und Gute Portion plus frischen knackigen Salat. War definitiv nicht das letzte Mal. Kann ich empfehlen.

Ci siamo fermati per caso in questo locale durante un viaggio, trovando un ambiente splendido. Non avrei pensato di vedere un arredamento marino nel cuore della Baviera, ma è proprio bello. Il cibo è buonissimo e il personale molto gentile. I nostri bambini sono stati coccolati con matite e fogli da disegno.

Nicht von der Einrichtung abschrecken lassen, ist gewöhnungsbedürftig. Essen ist wirklich 1a wirklich auf obersten Niveau. Kässspatzen, Cordonblue, Schweinebraten alles einfach super! Vorallem der Kaiserschmarn Wahnsinn!

Wir waren auf dem Weg von Österreich zurück nach Hause. (RLP) Da wir noch nichts gegessen hatten, und noch 3 Stunden Fahrtweg vor uns hatten sind wir in Kempten abgefahren und haben mit Hilfe der Googlesuche dieses schnuckelige Gasthaus gefunden. Wir haben uns auf eigene Faust einen Tisch gesucht und uns aus Versehen an den "Stammtisch" gesetzt. Wir wurden daraufhin freundlich gefragt ob wir uns an einen anderen Tisch setzen würden und wurden an unserem neuen Tisch direkt bedient. Als Vorspeise gab's für uns Eine Maultaschen- und eine Leberwurstspätzlesuppe..Das war auf jeden Fall schon mal ein sehr guter Einstieg! Als Hauptgang haben wir ein Rahmschnitzel vom Schweinerücken mit einer Champignon-Cognac-Soße mit Spätzle und Salat bestellt. Das Essen war frisch, das Fleisch sehr saftig und alles in allem super lecker ! Am meisten geschwärmt haben wir aber von der ultra leckeren Soße 😋 Lieben Gruß an den Koch, das war wirklich lecker ! Sollten wir nochmal ins Allgäu kommen haben wir euch auf jeden Fall im Hinterkopf 😊

Naja, als Zecke stossen mich "eisernes Kreuz" und "stolz" an der Fassade ehrlich gesagt erstmal ab. Aber Vorurteile über Bord geworfen einfach rein in den Biergarten. Genauso habe ich mir als Touri Bayern vorgestellt. Extrem authentisch gibts bayerische Küche vom Spezialisten. Man setzt sich dazu wo Platz ist und kommt auch leicht ins Gespräch, was in Bayern absolut üblich ist. Auch wenn hier eher Stammgäste zu verkehren scheinen, aber genau das macht es ja authentisch. Warmherzige Bedienung rundet das Erlebnis ab. Man kam als Fremder und ging als Freund. Jederzeit wieder und sorry für die anfänglichen Bedenken!
