Gasthaus Eisernes Kreuz in Kempten (Allgäu)

Seit Gregor das Gasthaus Eisernes Kreuz übernommen hat, bin ich hier regelmäßig und sehr gerne zu Gast, so auch vergangenen Freitag. Diesmal waren wir mit einer Gruppe von sieben Personen vor Ort. Gerade am Wochenende empfiehlt sich eine Reservierung, da das Gasthaus sehr gut besucht ist. Wenn man einmal hier eingekehrt ist, weiß man auch sofort warum: Die gemütliche Atmosphäre, die liebevolle Dekoration, der herzliche und persönliche Service sowie das außergewöhnlich leckere Essen laden einfach zum Verweilen ein. Wir haben uns quer durch die Speisekarte probiert und unter anderem Grillteller, Zwiebelrostbraten, Schweinebraten, Hackbraten und Kalbsschnitzel bestellt. Zum krönenden Abschluss gab es noch einen Kaiserschmarrn. Und was soll ich sagen – alle Gerichte waren ausnahmslos hervorragend! Man merkt, dass hier mit Leidenschaft gekocht wird. Besonders hervorzuheben ist auch das faire und kundenfreundliche Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Die umfangreiche Speisekarte lässt kaum Wünsche offen und macht definitiv Lust auf weitere Besuche. Wir werden das Eisernes Kreuz auf jeden Fall wieder besuchen und uns weiter durch die vielfältigen Köstlichkeiten schlemmen. Dieses hervorragende Wirtshaus mit seiner einzigartigen Atmosphäre kann ich uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Vielen Dank, lieber Gregor und dem gesamten Team – macht weiter so!

Ein sehr gemütliches und mit Liebe eingerichtetes Gasthaus! Im hinteren Bereich befinden sich dazu noch ein kleiner gemütlicher Biergarten! Unser Essen war einfach richtig gut und die Bedienung sehr freundlich! Werden das Gasthaus bald wieder besuchen!

Super leckeres 😋 Essen, die Bedienung ist ein Traum und an der Decko kann man sich nicht satt sehen. Sehr zum empfehlen.

Das Essen ist mega. Top Preis - Leistungsverhältnis. Etwas weniger Deko wäre aber etwas schöner.

So schnell findet man ein neues Lieblingslokal. Hier wird Gastfreundschaft richtig groß geschrieben! Das Essen schmeckt super lecker und wird mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Wir waren eigentlich nur kurz auf der Durchreise und sind so begeistert, dass es wohl auch in Zukunft unser Lieblingszwischenstopp wird. Herzliche Grüße von den „Oberhausenern“ ;)

Klasse Restaurant mit toller Atmosphäre, ganz netter Bedienung und sehr leckerem Essen. Es war viel los und daher die Wartezeit etwas länger, aber es wurde alles frisch und hausgemacht zubereitet und da warten wir gerne drauf.

Das Personal war unglaublich herzlich und das Essen einfach köstlich! Ich bin zufällig auf dieses familiengeführte Restaurant gestoßen und war sofort begeistert! Es gehört zu meinen schönsten Erinnerungen an diesen Ort 💗

Es ist immer ein gutes Zeichen, wenn der Kellner als Gast angefangen hat. Die Wirtin und der Kellner sind freundlich, herzlich und super zu Kindern. Unsere Mädels bekamen 2 kleine Mandala Blöcke und kleine Stifte um die Wartezeit auf das Essen zu verkürzen. Das Essen war gut bürgerlich und sehr lecker! Erwähnenswert: sehr viele Stammgäste! Kleine Deko-Explosion die zum schmunzeln einlädt 😉 Fazit: Wir kommen im nächsten Allgäu Urlaub gerne wieder

Unser jährlicher Urlaub in der Region ist für uns immer etwas ganz Besonderes – doch seit wir das Gasthaus „Eisernes Kreuz“ entdeckt haben, ist er um ein echtes Highlight reicher. Auf Empfehlung von Freunden sind wir erstmals hier eingekehrt, und schon beim Betreten wurden wir von einem außergewöhnlich liebevoll gestalteten Ambiente empfangen. Jeder Raum erzählt seine eigene Geschichte, mit viel Herz zum Detail dekoriert – man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und rundum wohl. Kulinarisch ist das „Eiserne Kreuz“ in jeder Hinsicht herausragend. Die Speisen sind nicht nur geschmacklich exzellent, sondern auch mit großer Sorgfalt und Kreativität angerichtet. Hier merkt man, dass Qualität und Leidenschaft im Mittelpunkt stehen – ein Genuss auf höchstem Niveau. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir den Service: selten haben wir ein so herzliches, aufmerksames und gleichzeitig entspanntes Team erlebt. Gerade als Familie mit Kindern fühlt man sich hier nicht nur geduldet, sondern wirklich willkommen. Die Kinderfreundlichkeit wird hier gelebt – und das macht den Besuch für alle Generationen zu einem rundum gelungenen Erlebnis. Für uns steht fest: Ein Besuch im „Eisernen Kreuz“ gehört ab sofort fest zu unserem Urlaub dazu. Ein Ort, den man erlebt haben muss – und den wir uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen können.

Ich habe gemeinsam mit meinem Schwager und meiner Schwägerin einen köstlichen und urgemütlichen Abend im Eisernen Kreuz verbracht. Das Essen war durch die Bank weg himmlisch lecker und der Service einfach super freundlich und herzlich. Für alle die Kempten einen Besuch abstatten, ein Muss. 🫶

Alles passte. Zu Beginn vielleicht mit Deko etwas überladen aber nachdem man die Herzlichkeit der Menschen kennenlernte, verstand man auch das „zu viel“. Der Service war toll!!! Sehr zuvorkommend und absolut kinderlieb. Das Essen war super lecker und wirklich viel… zu guten Preisen. Wir haben uns wie bei Oma gefühlt. Von der Masse an Essen überwältigt und mit Herzlichkeit überschüttet.. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder, wenn wir in der Nähe sind.

Wir waren diese Wochenende in Schwangau um Schloss Neuschwanstein zu besichtigen und in diesem Atemzug am Sonntag den 22.02.26 im "Eisernen Kreuz" essen. Ich hatte Schweinelende mit selbstgemachten Spätzle und meine Frau das Hirschragout mit Rotkraut. Beide Essen waren hervorragend. Ich wüsste nicht was man besser machen kann. Ich habe bei Ihr probiert und überlegt, ob ich es nach meinem Essen auch bestelle. (War ein Spaß). Der Service war schnell zuvorkommend und sehr nett. Die Preise für die Qualität angemessen. Sollten wir nochmal ins Allgau kommen werden wir das Essen da sicher noch einmal genießen. Danke, für den netten Aufenthalt. Grüße aus Heidelberg.

Wir hatten einen ausgezeichneten Abend im eisernen Kreuz in St. Mang in Kempten. Und haben die Suppen, der Zwiebelrostbraten mit Spätzle, die Käsespätzle und der Hirschbraten alle hervorragend geschmeckt. Ebenfalls ist der exzellente Service besonders hervorzuheben, man fühlt sich hier richtig wohl und willkommen. Gerne kommen wir wieder.

Richtig gute Gastgeber und super Essen

Wir waren dort zum Geburtstags essen. Was soll ich sagen ... Essen mega lecker, man hat zwar etwas Wartezeit, dafür wird alles frisch zubereitet. Die Bedienung ist unglaublich freundlich und absolut motiviert. Von Anfang bis Ende. Es gab sogar kleine Geschenke zum Schluss. Absolute Herzens Empfehlung

Das Essen wäre gut, wenn man bereit ist dafür 2 Stunden zu warten, dann wird mann wird auch noch nicht nett behandelt bei Nachfrage. Ausserdem werden schlechte Rezensionen sofort entfernt

Ein Restaurant was total aus der Masse herausstechen konnte. Schon direkt zu Beginn wurden wir so lieb begrüßt. Die Speisekarte hatte eine schöne und vor allem große Auswahl. Das Essen war so so köstlich! Wir konnten es kaum fassen WIE lecker es war! Einfach unglaublich! Und es gab so besondere Gerichte: hatten unter anderem Spareribs vom Reh! Wir waren so begeistert dass wir direkt zwei mal in unserem Kurzurlaub dort essen waren und kommen das nächste Mal wenn wir im Allgäu sind auf jeden Fall wieder! Es war ein ganz toller Besuch bei euch! 😍

Cooles uriges Lokal mit sehr gutem Essen, Grüße gehen raus an die leckere Küche 🥳 Die Bedienung war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen und wenn wir wieder in der Nähe sind, gehen wir aufjedenfall wieder dort hin.

Wir haben das 2.Mal dort gegessen und es war wieder sehr lecker. Leider bleibt auch das Eiserne Kreuz nicht vom Personalmangel verschont, weshalb man etwas länger auf das Essen warten muss, wenn man mit mehr als 2 Personen erscheint. Dennoch leidet die Qualität der Gerichte nicht darunter und man wird mit sehr schmackhaften Essen belohnt. Die Bedienungen sind äußerst bemüht und sehr freundlich. Das Gaststube ist etwas eng, dafür aber gemütlich und die Deko ausgefallen aber originell. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen bald wieder!

Wir sind durch zufällig auf das Gasthaus gestoßen und sind absolut begeistert. Das Restaurant ist total gemütlich. Noch alt eingerichtet, aber richtig schnuckelig und mit ganz viel Charme. Sehr freundliches Personal. Das Essen war mega lecker, die Portionen mehr als ausreichend und alles einfach stimmig. Der Besuch war es definitiv wert, wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und waren sehr zufrieden. Kommen gerne wieder, wenn wir wieder in der Nähe sind und können es nur weiterempfehlen!

Super netter Service, es gab sogar kleine Geschenken für die Kinder. Die Freundlichkeit und Herzlichkeit, die man dort entgegen gebracht bekommt, erlebt man nur noch selten. Essen sehr lecker. Super Dekoration des gesamten Restaurants, was alles sehr gemütlich macht. Besondere Empfehlung: der Kaiserschmarrn. Unbedingt mal vorbeischauen.

Man muss etwas Zeit mitbringen, wenn man dort essen geht, aber man wird für die Geduld belohnt. Und zwar mit wirklich sehr gutem Essen. Die Portionen sind groß genug für jeden und es schmeckt absolut Super dort. Wir waren zu zehnt und es hat jedem einzeln geschmeckt. Auch die Dame im Service war eine ganz liebe Person. Wir können dieses Lokal ohne zu überlegen 100%ig weiterempfehlen.

The food is absolutely delicious, even if it takes a little longer than you'd like. But it's definitely worth the wait. A must for anyone who enjoys traditional German dishes.

The food there is so good!! For me, it's not just the best pizza in Kempten, but all the other dishes on the menu are definitely worth trying! A culinary delight that you shouldn't miss if you're looking for good food in Kempten. And I don't even want to start on the prices... it feels like a fever dream every time to get such good food for such a reasonable price... especially these days. We found the inn by chance online and spontaneously decided to check it out. And we weren't disappointed! The ambiance in the dining room takes some getting used to, in a good way, but it has a certain charm :-) We were lucky to get a table; making a reservation would be a good idea. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The menu was very diverse, with many dishes, but everything was top-notch. Kudos to the kitchen; everything is freshly prepared, the portions are generous, and the prices are good. The Eiserne Kreuz is highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back.

The food was very good. When we were there, the place was packed, which speaks in its favor. The decor is debatable 😉 Unfortunately, we had to wait about two hours for our food, and the table next to us, which arrived and ordered later, received their food before us. The explanation didn't make it any better 😁. So, if you like good, traditional German food and a cozy atmosphere, this is the place for you. 👍

We came after reading the excellent reviews and were not disappointed: the food was delicious, especially the schnitzel, where you could feel the care in its preparation. Service was friendly, though a bit slow. Just note that payment is only accepted in cash or PayPal, no credit cards

Delicious food, a great atmosphere with hospitable service. A very cozy interior, like a traditional Dutch café where you see something new everywhere you look. Large portions, good quality, and prosecco for only €2 (!!) Payment is via PayPal or cash. Parking is available next to the building.

If you enjoy quirky decor and good food, then this is the place for you. Check out the portions before you decide you need three courses. Good value for money; we'll be happy to come back.

I was traveling by bike in the area and by chance I found this restaurant open on Sunday for lunch. Very good traditional local food. It was the best dish of my entire trip to the area.

Great restaurant, good food, super friendly service, prices totally reasonable (venison ragout €18, pizza €8), lavishly decorated seasonally, the kids were given small blackboards with chalk and everyone received a small sweet as a farewell treat—I can't think of anything negative to say.

We decided to come spontaneously, as I always check Google reviews. The ambiance surprised us a bit, as we were expecting something more "traditional." Yes, it was a lot, but it was very cozy, warm, informal, and open. We quickly felt at home. The waiters were very friendly. The food came very quickly, and the portions were very generous. Which doesn't bother me 😅 But everything was delicious, and we were completely impressed and satisfied, from the starter and main course to dessert. A definite recommendation 👍🏻

It was our first time there, but we loved it from the start. The service is very friendly and the food is excellent. Unfortunately, I only realized too late that I hadn't taken a photo beforehand to post proof here. But even without a photo, we can say that we would come back anytime, if possible. It's important to be quite hungry here so you don't end up leaving half of your food.

After our first, very pleasant visit, we returned to the "Eisernes Kreuz" two days later. There were three of us each time and we ate a total of six different dishes. All the dishes were very tasty and plentiful. Almost every dish comes with a mixed salad, which is also very tasty. The menu is large enough that everyone should be able to find something. The waiters are very friendly and attentive. They often ask if everything is okay and if there are any requests. The value for money is definitely good. The ambiance and decor are, of course, a matter of taste, but we liked it (lots of decorations and pictures). We were on vacation in Kempten. If we ever go there again, we now know where to go for a good, enjoyable meal.

Great inn, you can easily get your fill here and yes, there is a lot of decoration in the dining room, but it is for sale.

The decor in the entrance area is a matter of taste, but if you don't let that put you off, you'll get an excellent meal in the cozy beer garden at reasonable prices and with super friendly service. The spare ribs were delicious. We'll be back. Highly recommended!

The service was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, we had to wait 110 minutes for the food. That's pretty extreme with children! The schnitzel was very good, the cordon bleu a bit tasteless, and the meat from the grill was dry. Maybe we just had a bad day, but we'll probably hold off on a second visit...

We spontaneously went there for the first time today and spent a wonderful evening in the beer garden. The atmosphere was lovely, the food absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Both the roast pork and roast beef were truly amazing, and the walnut ice cream for dessert was also excellent. The service is extremely friendly. We would definitely recommend it to people we like! We'll be happy to come back!

A very good restaurant, very delicious food. Even my mother, who doesn't usually like these dishes, found it very delicious.

The ambiance is definitely a matter of taste; the interior is very kitschy and over-the-top. The beer garden in the back courtyard makes a pleasant impression. The pricing of the drinks and food is astonishing. Aperol Spritz and Limoncello Spritz cost €5.50, and a 0.5l beer costs €4. The extremely large portion of cheese spaetzle with mixed side salad costs just under €13. It tastes very good, even the roasted onions are clearly homemade. The Cordon Bleu with fries and mixed side salad costs €19.90. It also tastes very good. The portions are huge. We're used to paying €6-7 for a side salad of this size and variety at other restaurants. We're only here on vacation, but we'll definitely remember this place and come back. We highly recommend it. The extremely positive reviews were a bit of a surprise, but we visited nonetheless and can only confirm these reviews. We'd be happy to come back.

VERY delicious food, really! 10 out of 5 stars! My grandma would be very disappointed if I had to tell her that it tastes EVEN better here. Great, friendly and attentive people in service, nice, cozy atmosphere. We had pork fillets and beef goulash, followed by probably the best chocolate mousse outside (and within) France. Conclusion: We will be here all the time!

Absolute insider tip for fans of hearty home cooking like grandma's. At first the guesthouse is a bit “kitsch” and furnished differently, but it’s actually totally rustic and cozy. The waitresses are all more than nice and absolutely attentive. The entire menu is absolutely great, a clear insider tip in and around Kempten. Classic dishes, various roasts with dumplings/spätzle and red cabbage, buttery meat, portions that fill you up, the chef is an absolute expert. You rarely get something like that these days. Absolutely great, the price is also absolutely right, it's not for nothing that the store has 4.9 stars...

We live in the neighborhood and always enjoy coming over for dinner. Ordering also works wonderfully. Super delicious food and very nice people. Location also cozy and rustic.
