Gasthaus Daniel in Ingolstadt

One of the most traditional restaurants in Ingolstadt.

Great food - highly recommended. Even if we came from outside, we were greeted here randomly in a very friendly manner. On Good Friday there was a large daily menu with fish (trout and carp), but we stuck with roast pork and were very happy with it.

I got the best wienerschnitzel i ever tasted here, one of my favorite places in Ingolstadt.

Worth a visit! There were five of us there, the food was hot and served at the same time. Friendly staff.

German food is salty and strongly seasoned... but, the food here was not as seasoned as I expected, so I could enjoy Bavarian cuisine. Recommend!

Traditional brewery with an attractive restaurant, very tasty beer, super friendly hosts

Food and service good. What we didn't like at all was that there was a sticker on the door with the accepted forms of payment (see photo), including American Express. When paying, the waiter told us that American Express was NOT accepted and that card payments were only possible for orders over €30. You should provide this information to your customers before starting the service.

I visited for the first time for a meal with colleagues and was extremely satisfied. Delicious food and great service. Will definitely be back next time.

The beer is very good, the restaurant is quaint, the service ladies are very nice and quick. I had dinner there with a friend from Lake Constance, I have known the restaurant for 30 years and have always been very enthusiastic about Willi's cooking. But now..? Had liver with mashed potatoes - a disaster. Mashed potatoes were almost raw, lukewarm dumpling dough, liver was raw, just edible in the thinner parts, raw inside in the thicker parts... very, very unfortunate.

The home-brewed beer is excellent! The service is fast and friendly, the food comes quickly, tastes good to very good and is reasonably priced. We particularly recommend the Kaiserschmarrn and, if you like that sort of thing, the liver dumpling soup.

The food has deteriorated significantly in terms of quality, taste and richness. I have the impression that guests are now being "handled off" here. I made the decision not to go there anymore.

Mein Spezl und ich waren hier zum Abendessen. Es gab ein Cordon Bleu und einen Zwiebelrostbraten. Beides war sehr lecker und die Portionen ausreichend. Das selbstgebraute Bier war sehr gut im Geschmack und extrem süffig. War haben einen Platz in der großen Stubn bekommen. Da ist es sehr gemütlich. Der Service war sehr nett und flott.

We had made reservations for a celebration for > 10 people. Unfortunately we had to pay €25 for one person who couldn't take part.

A historic inn with centuries-old tradition and a small brewery. The food, duck, tasted excellent and even though it was packed in the run-up to Christmas, the quick waitresses had it completely under control.

We were seated without a reservation, but were informed that the table would be taken from 7 p.m. So we had over 1 hour to enjoy our food. It was easy to change the order from potato salad to fried potatoes as a side dish. The food was very good, as was the service.

The food was very tasty, unfortunately our waitress on the upper floor was very unfriendly for some inexplicable reason, which quickly took away our enjoyment and we didn't stay longer, which was a shame.

Four of us had dinner at Daniels today and had made reservations in advance. Despite the reservation, we were asked to go upstairs and tell a colleague on the late shift (2). When we did this, we were spoken to in a rude manner and asked what we wanted up there, even though we had made a reservation. We explained that our colleague had sent us upstairs. Eventually we got a table upstairs and continued to be served by late shift 2. Unfortunately, the unfriendly treatment continued: When we made special requests for food, we were treated snippy and later even mocked because we hadn't used the ketchup we had ordered and paid for. The whole thing took away the joy of our visit. We finished our drinks quickly and decided not to order anything else. Despite the good food, we unfortunately couldn't leave a tip for this service. It's a real shame because we used to enjoy going to Daniels, but we've rarely experienced such unfriendly service.

As is well known, when it comes to feedback, you start with the positive. The food in this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. However, I am writing this review for a different reason. Unfortunately the service today was really poor. The waiter (only listed as late shift 2 on the bill) ruined today's visit. As soon as we walked in we were hit on quite stupidly, and this continued throughout our entire stay. Just inappropriate comments and mean-spirited laughter after your own bad and offensive jokes. Unfortunately, this behavior forced us to leave early. And although the food was really excellent, I'll have to look for another place in the future. But I definitely won't be the only one until the problem is fixed.

Went there this week with our friends with a toddler from abroad. The store was full. Long waiting times are understandable given the number of visitors. But the service was very unfriendly. We were embarrassed in front of guests. Especially when we asked for a pen for the little one (they didn't have any toys or a play area) they said, we have, but we won't give it, otherwise she'll paint the table for us and then we'll have to clean it. The food is usually very good, perhaps due to the number of visitors there was something to complain about. Spaetzle - cold, lamb shank - very dry on the outside. Other dishes carpaccio, ox pelvis - very tasty. Although the food is usually very good, I will no longer bring visitors to Daniel's or come myself.

The minimum order value is 20 euros, depending on the waiter, or the table is occupied. Service at the “height”(((( I do not recommend this restaurant.

We went to this restaurant with friends this evening. Since we weren't very hungry, we just ordered beer. When the waiter came over to take our food order, only one of our friends ordered an entree. The waiter was very surprised by this and said that in this case we would have to order at least 20 euros per person, otherwise we would have to leave the restaurant. Shortly afterwards he came back to us and asked us to leave the restaurant in 20 minutes. Where is that written?! Where does it state that you can't just drink a beer without food?! When I asked him to tell me his name, he also refused.

No-show fee 25€ Food was good and served quite quickly. The service had a rather harsh tone, but the inn was full and you can understand that they are stressed. However, we ordered for 18 people today and one person couldn't come due to a sick child at home. So we were only 17. Although we had a main course, several drinks per person and some desserts, we had to pay a no-show fee of €25 for the missing person. We were in a separate room - the one seat couldn't have been occupied by anyone else. If a reservation is made for 30 people and then only 20 show up, I can understand a no-show fee. But if 17 out of 18 people show up, that's a red flag for me. In the end, this is unfortunate for the service staff and the kitchen because such an action affects the tip. I can therefore not recommend it for Christmas parties.

We were eating there on Friday in a large group. As it turned out today, pretty much all of the dishes were counted twice because I found my own items on someone else's bill even though I have a receipt myself, it was okay relatively easy to understand because I was the only one who had the liver dumpling soup... I find it very strange and I would like to warn everyone to check their bills carefully, as I said, we have it in black and white

So the food was good so far. The sauce could have been seasoned better but it was ok. Only three people were missing due to illness and we had to pay €25 per person, which was a shame. Above all, we made enough sales all together. So I'm not going to celebrate anymore. I think that's a rip-off because, as I said, enough sales were made.

Because of my first name, I was basically forced to eat here. Definitely a good decision. Although it was quite busy and stressful, the ladies at reception were super friendly. The food is a delight for the eyes and the palate. Definitely recommend the house beer. The dessert was so delicious. But it's best to come here and find out for yourself. The best thing of all is actually the smiles of the service staff

Nice place to eat and drink a good beer!

Unfortunately, the waitress served us beer against the repeated wishes of everyone involved. As an excuse, it was suggested that a schnapps would be given out on the house, as there was also a personal relationship between the waitress and some of the guests. When we wanted to pay, both the beer we didn't want and the liquor were charged for €6 per person (there were 4 of us). Despite enormous discussions, we paid the bill even though the overall process was not at all right. Apparently this is not an isolated case. I would advise everyone not to visit the location.

I went to this place with friends for half a beer per person and a Watterer. After we wanted to pay, we were persistently talked into adding another half a beer. When we finally wanted to pay, we were offered a schnapps. We thought that this should serve as compensation for the unwanted half beer. We were wrong. Very wrong. For 8 half beers and 4 schnapps we received a bill of over €70. This showed that the “Reparation schnapps” was the most expensive schnapps on the menu and that we were also turned down and charged for it. Finally, all I can say is that I will never enter this store again.

There was no 1 because 0 stars. First there is a lot of talk about the “tricks” that can be used to “pull” the participants away from Christmas parties and then do the same with us. This way of dealing with the guests was very cheeky.

The inn is beautifully furnished and you feel very comfortable. The taste and quality of the food are very good. Big compliments to the kitchen. The portions aren't exactly small either. The entire team was very friendly and accommodating. There's a great team here. You will be truly pampered here.

Die Portionen sind auch nicht gerade klein. Das gesamte Team war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Hier ist ein tolles Team am Start.

The day before the reservation there was a bit of confusion regarding possible "penalties" if we didn't show up with the full reservation size. However, everything could be clarified in advance and we had a really fun evening with delicious food at the Gasthof Daniel.

Nice, middle-class restaurant with its own beer. Attentive service. If you come after 6 a.m. you should have a reservation, but it's worth a try.

We have enjoyed going to Daniel's regularly for years. Unfortunately, in our opinion, both the quality of the food and the service have deteriorated significantly. The good reviews on Google no longer seem appropriate. The price-performance ratio is not at all right, especially for the vegetarian and daily specials. We also think an extra dumpling (so you get two at least) for €3.50 is quite steep. I would recommend that vegetarians don't even come here: the salmon with avocado bread, for example, cost over €20 and the proportion of fish to bread was outrageous... On the next visit, the only thing left to order was the soup. The roast pork doesn't taste as good as it used to, not tender at all. The service staff sometimes speak German poorly and waiting times are immense (30 minutes until the food is ordered and another 45-60 minutes until the food arrives) The waiter also kept a 20% tip after understanding the problems. Unless absolutely necessary, e.g. due to celebrations or invitations, we will no longer eat here.

We really enjoyed the little detour to Ingolstadt's oldest inn. The food was good to very good and we have fond memories of Daniel... maybe see you soon

Beautiful old brewery which was already very full when we visited. Even a reservation at 1600 for the current day at 1730 was only possible to a limited extent; they had already said that we had to be included. This was also done during our visit, and we were really lucky with our “seat neighbors”. :) The food was good and the service was quick, good and always in a good mood, which is not always a given given the number of guests! The Kaiserschmarrn at the end of the evening was definitely a highlight! :)

Very nice Bavarian atmosphere! We were the only tourists there so I assume it's super authentic and full of locals. We had schnitzel and beer and it was very tasty.

Four of us were there without a reservation and were seated immediately by the friendly staff. Starters and main courses (Schäufele, roast pork, schnitzel, cheese spaetzle) were without exception delicious. Kaiserschmarrn as dessert was delivered without asking and three cutlery. Perfect for sharing. We'd love to come back.

Four of us on site, reservation couldn't be found even though we had to postpone the first time by half an hour by phone. Impressions: Were on the upper floor where it was very noisy, everything was very hectic, even when ordering, the waiter was nice, we had 3x schnitzel and a crusty roast which came after about an hour! was served in rather small portions. No man will be full, my companion - 153/53kg cleans the plate! and then we each ordered a Kaiserschmarn. Quality: Schnitzel tastes good but lukewarm, crusty roast tasty but unfortunately also lukewarm, the dark beer sauce with it is very light, thin and with too little taste for a roast, the medium-sized dumpling is ok, with draft beer which pleased the palate :-) Conclusion: the advance praise from our Bavarian friends was great and therefore the disappointment was somewhat visible on our faces. A second chance: why not, maybe we just had a pitch black evening?

Good Bavarian restaurant. The light beer is brewed in-house in the inn and tastes good. The roast pork was a bit firm and dry. The crusted roast (belly meat) was very good, of course there was a lot of fat, but also a lot of tender, juicy meat and a wonderful crust. Dumplings are big enough, but could be a little more - also considering the amount of meat. If you order a side salad with it, it's enough. Four of us had reserved and were accommodated in a nice adjoining room. The service manager in our area (upper floor) was a bit brash and cheeky. Overall everything was good. But I also have to say that I like the food at the Weissbräuhaus a bit better.

Gastro guides aren't bad, but tips from locals are often better. And so we ended up at the Daniel Inn, the oldest in the city. Excellent cuisine, wonderful home-brewed beer like before and a rustic, cozy atmosphere.

Sauerbraten was definitely not fresh, the sauce was slightly over-salted, red cabbage used to be served as a side dish... the rest of my food was carelessly wrapped up in aluminum foil... and the waitress apparently didn't have any change to give out, Sunday lunchtime at 1 p.m., that was real disappointed

Wir waren auf der Durchreise und hatten ein lokales Gasthaus gesucht. Das Daniels war ein super Tip. Wir saßen im Biergarten bei selbstgebrauten Hellen. Das Menü war vielseitig und bayrisch. Das Personal war aufmerksam. Das Essen schmeckte uns sehr gut. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Once again super tasty and very nice staff

We stopped here for dinner with a larger group (21 people). The staff seemed a bit "relaxed" that evening, but were otherwise nice and helpful. With 21 people, it took a while to bring the food, but it was super tasty. Parking spaces or parking facilities (parking garage) are nearby. It is advisable to reserve a place early enough, especially for larger groups.
