I love traditional establishments! Daniel Bräu is definitely one of them. Not just because of the style, the super friendly staff, and the delicious food. The beer really stands out here! The small brewery is on the top floor 😉 oh well! But everything was perfect for me.

Nice beer garden, food has some room for improvement. Fried potatoes were barely fried or seasoned, while other guests' dishes looked excellent, except for the fried potatoes.

An institution in Ingolstadt. Excellent Bavarian cuisine, incredibly delicious beer (home-brewed, if I understood correctly), and a wonderfully rustic Bavarian atmosphere. Just what an Ingolstadt pub should be.

We were passing through from Lake Garda and just ate here. The food, service, and everything else was excellent.

Surely it was due to the heat and the long, stressful weekend. But I've never experienced such rude staff. When I asked if we could get a table for two, the older waitress in lederhosen replied: "I don't know! Please wait for the colleague!" Wow. After he arrived, it took him a full 10 minutes to take orders and then assign us a table. When taking our order, he pedantically pointed out that it was called Cola-Weizen because I had ordered a wheat beer with cola. The Wiener Schnitzel and Munich Schnitzel I ordered arrived quite quickly. My Munich Schnitzel was too salty. The fried potatoes weren't greasy and were quite crispy. Overall, not recommended. There are much better places nearby.

We had a birthday dinner a la carte. Everything was great. The setting was particularly beautiful! Excellent service! The food was great too! I had chanterelle mushrooms, a delight, just like at my grandma's house. The homemade beer was also excellent! That's how I imagine a Bavarian pub should be. The music was too loud for us, and the waitress immediately turned it down.

A beautiful historic location. The food was excellent (6 stars!!), the service was incredibly friendly, and the value for money was absolutely perfect. Everything was quick, and the restaurant is highly recommended. My wife and I were delighted. Note: The house-brewed beer is freshly tapped and delicious. But my taste is more towards filtered lager. This is entirely subjective, however, and should not influence my rating.

Had an amazing evening at Gasthaus Daniel. The food was delicious Bavarian fare and the live entertainment, two gentlemen with accordions, was perfect. The weather was lovely so I sat in the biergarten and soaked in the atmosphere. The staff were attentive and friendly and the service was quick. The garden itself is very cozy, with warm lights, candles, and comfortable tables throughout. An excellent evening.

Yesterday, the two of us visited Daniel's to enjoy the best Zwiebelrostbraten (onion roast beef) in Ingolstadt. Unfortunately, our joy was quickly spoiled when an elderly server pointed out to us that we were sitting down without prior reservation. You could even say we were yelled at. Here are some key facts: We were in the beer garden; there was no sign anywhere saying we had to wait to be assigned a table; it was at least half empty and without reservations; and if we did something wrong, we could have said so in a normal tone. We then spent our 80 euros plus the purchase of a gift certificate at another restaurant because we didn't need to be insulted for that expense.

We had a summer party at Gasthof Daniel yesterday. I've actually always enjoyed going there. Solid food, a pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, and fair prices. Yesterday, at our summer party, we experienced the exact opposite. If the goal was to annoy at least 90 of the over 100 guests, then they succeeded. It started with a colleague who was on the phone when he walked in and was told that only the boss was on the phone. Despite the nice weather, we weren't allowed into the beer garden as agreed, but had to go upstairs with over 100 people. Oh well, let's put the party in the worst room and, if the weather's nice, make some extra profit in the beer garden with the other guests. It was hot upstairs, and the acoustics were terrible. We all had to huddle together because there weren't enough chairs and uncovered seating. The room was bursting at the seams. We had two problems: a very unfriendly female server who took our orders, and an unfriendly male server who brought the food and drinks. Both seemed dissatisfied with the overall situation and completely overwhelmed by the number of guests. I think almost every guest was addressed in a very unfriendly manner at least once that evening. I've never experienced anything like that in a crowd before. Example: When someone wanted to pay by card, they were told they were probably too stupid to read because it said at the bottom that card payments were only possible for orders over €25. Note: The meal was a flat rate, but everyone had to bring their own drinks. Someone wanted vegetables or spinach instead of potatoes, but they weren't available; they were too exotic. They were then offered a salad (a side salad), but like every small deviation from the standard menu, it was charged extra. There was a stripped-down menu with only six dishes. They hadn't budgeted enough for salmon fillet and suckling pig, the only really great dishes, and most of us couldn't order them. Great... The pretzels and bread that were served, which were actually included in the package, were simply billed afterwards. And surprisingly, the flat rate of €25 per person was charged for 25 no-shows. Aha... we had announced this beforehand. And that even though they didn't even have enough dishes for Carmen. So what would have happened if 25 more people had shown up? Besides, even the people who were there didn't have enough space in the provided room. Would the others have had to eat in stages? All in all, because the whole evening at Gasthof Daniel was simply a disgrace. It was all so bizarre and so completely wrong that it became funny again as the evening progressed. This really surpassed their Bavarian comedy, and we were always looking for the hidden camera. Never again a summer festival there. The service could be completely different. By the way, the food this time was unfortunately just cheap mass-produced. The salmon fillet, judging by its size, I'd say it was a maximum of 80g, was cooked to death. Totally dry. Well, if you don't have fresh fish, you'll probably have to do it that way. Very weak. Never ever Daniel again.

Great German food in Ingolstadt!

Sorry, but this restaurant fulfills all the clichés of a tourist trap. I've been there twice now for a large event and was disappointed on both visits. There won't be a third. The food is completely oversalted, and the meat tough and dry. The only thing that showed any refinement was the appetizer. The service is fast and reliable, but when the staff just look stressed and annoyed, it's hard for guests to order anything. And the fact that card payments are only possible for €25 or more is, in my opinion, not appropriate for today's times. But by far the biggest annoyance is the acoustics in the large hall upstairs. It's almost unbearable. The room is so reverberating and echoing that your ears start ringing after just a few minutes. Conversation is almost impossible. In the end, in my opinion, the best rating is the location in the heart of the old town. It's a real shame. But that's not how you impress guests.

We were guests at the Gasthaus Daniel on the upper floor for a company celebration with around 120 people. The ambiance, with its large cauldrons, is rustic and Bavarian in style – visually truly beautiful. Unfortunately, the acoustics upstairs were very poor, which made communication difficult. The appetizer was good, the main course simple – not culinary highlights, but okay. The biggest criticism concerns the service: The staff was significantly understaffed, which is obviously problematic for such a large group. Two of the three waiters unfortunately seemed very stressed and at times unfriendly. Even more unpleasant was the attempt to blame the customer for any mistakes that occurred – this seemed unprofessional and unpleasant. Overall, a nice place with potential, but it urgently needs to improve, especially in terms of service and organization for larger groups.

Unreserved recommendation. We visited the beer garden without a reservation. Friendly and fast service. Delicious food at reasonable prices.

My family came to Ingolstadt on recommendation from my daughter. She raved about the town and Daniel Gusthaus. The asparagus soup was superb. But our experience was terrible. We made a reservation for the beer garden, but when we arrived the staff yelled at us that there was no room for us because of a big group, and that we should go inside. So we did. Inside the host said that our reservation was for outside, and he chased us out. They made a space for us, but after being yelled at we didn’t feel like guests. No apology. We left before we ordered. Very disappointed. I don’t remember ever being treated that badly for showing up on time to a restaurant.

A beautiful, centrally located beer garden with a decent, traditional menu and home-brewed beer. What more could you want?

Never before have I experienced such a welcoming restaurant. Every wish was fulfilled without exception by the service staff, chef, and kitchen team. A cordon bleu was prepared for us with chicken and a modified filling. It shows that the food is freshly prepared; the taste is excellent. Thank you for that, huge praise!!! The beer garden is a bit hidden, and at first glance, it looks smaller than it actually is. Nevertheless, we received our food at the same time and quickly. The 5 stars 🌟 are more than deserved, and the price is top-notch despite the many price increases. Perfect for parties and celebrations, with small and large separate spaces.

Ketchup costs extra for one dish (schnitzel with fried potatoes) for €17.90, even though there wasn't even any cranberry jam or anything similar included.

Very tasty food (South Tyrolean Cordon Bleu) at reasonable prices in downtown Ingolstadt, not far from the cathedral. The staff was also consistently friendly, so I can definitely recommend it.

Good restaurant with typical German cuisine, very kind and attentive staff. We dined in their internal courtyard where, even on hot days, you can find some refreshment. You absolutely have to try the Daniel's Hell as a beer! Reservations recommended.

Real Bavarian food and the best roast pork ever

Sorry, but never again 😡 I can't recommend this restaurant. Great atmosphere, friendly, attentive service, I must say. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that great. We had shriveled pork sausages with sauerkraut, which was really good. Unfortunately, the potato salad we ordered was missing, and despite complaining, it wasn't brought. When it came to paying, we were asked to pay €10.90 with potato salad (which we didn't have). After asking again, we were told to pay a good €1 less. So, €9.90. That was the official price on the menu. They wouldn't listen to reason and didn't offer a discount because of the complaint. So, the police had to be called. Really sad, after the police arrived, the manager also showed up (he had been denied the whole time by his employees). Conclusion: The price/performance ratio isn't right, and they don't like complaints either!!!! The service staff were friendly and hard-working; management should take a leaf out of their book. We definitely won't be back! PS: I was there with 52 people. What happened to me was simply a disgrace and a fraud. Sincerely, N.W.

Wow! That is how our server described the asparagus soup and I would have to agree. We were looking for some Bavarian food and were well rewarded. Had some classic weinerschnitzel a couple of beers and some good desserts.

Only for locals! Visitors better find another place - the service is abominable, and unapologetic. The food is simple and of questionable quality, so the general experience is bad.

The service was very poor. The younger waiter tried to save the situation because the manager was very unfriendly and rude. The food was okay...but we were used to much better food at the Daniel three years ago. Unfortunately, the food and service have deteriorated considerably. We won't be back.

The Daniel isn't what it used to be. One waiter was super nice, but the other didn't hear the shot. How can someone be so rude to their guests? The one in the red shirt really yelled at an older couple and "told" them that if they sat at the table for six, he would move them at any time, even during their meal. The tone of that gentleman was absolutely insane. The food tasted okay, but it gave me a terrible stomach ache.

An incredibly recommendable restaurant, with a cozy atmosphere and very friendly, and above all, fast service. I don't think I've ever received my food so quickly in a full-service restaurant. The food itself was delicious and hearty, as you would expect from Bavarian cuisine. All in all, a thoroughly satisfying experience!

Not necessarily recommended for vegetarians, but if you're looking for something typical of the region and enjoy a good beer, this is the place for you! Very tasty, hearty meat dishes and a small, changing, and very fine menu. The Kaiserschmarrn is also highly recommended!

A truly beautiful and classic inn/brewery. They serve great Bavarian classics, as well as a daily special with something new, like asparagus. They also serve a lovely house-brewed Helles beer. It pairs perfectly with a nice Schäuferl (small beer mug). The service is very friendly and attentive.

One of the oldest inns in Ingolstadt with a rustic ambience

A very bad experience... waiting over an hour for the food, wild garlic dumplings without any wild garlic, completely stressed service, and a "roast pork" that consisted exclusively of pieces of fat, chunks of meat, and leftovers. I can't for the life of me understand where the great pictures come from in the positive reviews, especially since the proprietor told me that his fatty "roast pork" and the individual chunks are always served like that. Pure deception. When I asked how the food was, I politely only mentioned the roast. The manager then became personal, loud, insulting, and abusive. Among other things: "What do you want with your slops?" Completely inappropriate. Aside from her cheeky demeanor, this is the completely wrong response to criticism. The lady had apparently never heard the "customer is king" approach, especially since I was polite and she would have had no way of defending herself in such a low-brow manner. I've never experienced such public harassment. One of the best restaurants in Ingolstadt is losing its reputation. Never again. One star is still too much.

Quite a cozy beer garden in the middle of the old town with shady corners (if you don't want to sit in the blazing sun). The salad is very good and fresh. But the food was quite greasy, including salmon and redfish fried in a generous amount of butter. On top of the potato dumplings comes a batch of butter-roasted breadcrumbs with cinnamon - you have to like it. But it's Bavarian, down-to-earth, good. You have to order salad side dishes separately. The bechamel sauce for the asparagus wasn't really homemade 🤔 There's definitely a star extra for the light beer from our own brewery ("Daniel Helles") - tasty, strong and very digestible (see description on the homepage) - it's worth coming for that alone 🍺! Unfortunately it is not available to take away, but only as a house tap. The staff is very friendly, patient and attentive! Always my pleasure. The prices are within the usual range.

Then if it were for the girl (maybe the owner's wife at least I think) the service would be 5 star, always smiling and kind, she even made an effort to use a few words in Italian so top, while the owner (I presume) seemed almost annoyed, perhaps because we were Italian? First place where we felt this slight prejudice towards us, even when taking the orders he was half annoyed, called to ask him for a sauce he clearly pretended not to hear us (he was 40cm away) and then started laughing with a person next to him...Then the icing on the cake at the end he even asked us "tip? Tip?" (Tip) laughing…For the food promoted all in all.

Quaint Bavarian tavern. We were able to get a table at short notice on Easter Monday. The asparagus was just to die for. The friendly service and the ambience rounded off our impression perfectly.

Great food - highly recommended. Even if we came from outside, we were greeted here randomly in a very friendly manner. On Good Friday there was a large daily menu with fish (trout and carp), but we stuck with roast pork and were very happy with it.

Traditional brewery with an attractive restaurant, very tasty beer, super friendly hosts

Food and service good. What we didn't like at all was that there was a sticker on the door with the accepted forms of payment (see photo), including American Express. When paying, the waiter told us that American Express was NOT accepted and that card payments were only possible for orders over €30. You should provide this information to your customers before starting the service.

I visited for the first time for a meal with colleagues and was extremely satisfied. Delicious food and great service. Will definitely be back next time.

The beer is very good, the restaurant is quaint, the service ladies are very nice and quick. I had dinner there with a friend from Lake Constance, I have known the restaurant for 30 years and have always been very enthusiastic about Willi's cooking. But now..? Had liver with mashed potatoes - a disaster. Mashed potatoes were almost raw, lukewarm dumpling dough, liver was raw, just edible in the thinner parts, raw inside in the thicker parts... very, very unfortunate.
