Very tasty food. The dishes are served tapas style and can be reordered quickly. The drinks were also very good. Gladly again!

The food is okay, the service is exceptionally good. Attentive, courteous and discreetly present at all times. Unfortunately it is very loud and you can't have a conversation without screaming.

Beautiful atmosphere! Really good Swabian food and delicious drinks. We were also welcomed with a welcome drink. There is a good mood in every corner, the waiters are all really friendly and communicative. We also really liked that the portions weren't too big and the prices were very reasonable! If you want to eat more, you can order a little more. I would love to come back!

We had a great evening with very good food. Everything Swabian cuisine has to offer in medium-sized tapas variations. If you listen to the waiters, 2-3 tapas dishes will fill you up well. Particularly noteworthy is the exceptionally good and more than attentive service, which reads your every wish...highly recommended!

A charming restaurant with an original Swabian tapas concept. Our five dishes were served almost simultaneously and were consistently delicious. Unfortunately, our table had very little space for it and was placed a bit narrowly between others. But the service made up for it: the welcome schnapps was not only delicious, but was also served to us again upon request when we said goodbye

Found by chance, but a great concept. There are basically Swabian tapas. The quality of the food was top, nothing more can be said about it. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. The service looked chaotic at first because there were so many waitresses running around, but everyone knew what they were doing. An absolute recommendation in Stuttgart. Definitely coming back.

Baren is a great restaurant, they have tapas to share and they are yummy. Ordered a few tapas from the menu, beef one, egg one, pork and couple of vegetarians. Loved all of them. A must visit for Bavarian hospitality and beers.

I like the concept and the service was excellent. The menu is also well done, but the quality of the food itself could be improved. For example, there was far too much vinegar on one of the dishes, and another was significantly too salty.

Absolutely great dining place with fantastic music and vibes all over. I was greeted by the Owner who is so friendly and helped made it a very pleasant stay. Alice was the Hostess taking care of my table and she offered a 10/10 service and recommendations on all the famous and traditional dishes of the region. It is highly recommended and a great vibe for everyone, single people to.large party groups.

The service was great, but the food didn’t justify the high prices. We ordered several dishes, and the cost was shocking—€8.50 for Rindsroulade (despite the menu listing it as "Rouladen," they only served one). It was a small portion, roughly 4cm x 11cm, and the taste was just average, nothing memorable. The spätzle was bland due to a lack of seasoning. While the tapas-style menu is a good concept, the quality doesn’t live up to the steep prices.

A great restaurant with a great idea behind it that in my opinion doesn't exist in Stuttgart, the food is top notch and the quality is top notch. Very good service, no long waiting times, every wish was fulfilled, everything was clean. The owner is very friendly and communicative at the same time, and some other restaurant owners can learn something from him. We'll definitely be back. It would make sense to reserve in advance as it is quite crowded in the evenings.

Today I was out in Stuttgart again with two friends after a long time. We had a great evening with food and drink in a pleasant atmosphere! Janne, our waiter, was really cool. Even though there was a lot going on, he ensured a great evening with a pleasant relaxed attitude and a high level of professionalism!

I can only recommend it. We were there for tapas in the evening. Two tapas per person was more than enough and was very tasty. The only point of criticism is the noise in the restaurant.

This is a great place to try lots of different local German dishes all in one meal. Careful, though, because it gets expensive if you aren’t sharing all the food. My favorite part is that they will bring you a BUCKET OF ICE. This is unheard of in Germany, and is a requirement on hot summer nights.

Phew… We were very happy about this discovery because of the beautiful location and the cool concept. Unfortunately, we didn't have a single really good dish in our very large order. I think the tapas concept is good so that I can really try a lot. Unfortunately, all dishes in almost every German middle class restaurant are much tastier. Unfortunately we won't be coming here anymore.

Grape arbor on the market square is not recommended. Yesterday I came across the most unfriendly staff. Asked for a table. There were obviously 4 seats available at a half-reserved table. The only answer was “go somewhere else.” Ok….we did that. I have never been treated so arrogantly. I won't be visiting the restaurant again either.

Unfortunately, the bear in the wine village made a very sad picture. Completely overwhelmed staff, warm drinks, no wine coolers... and that with a reserved table! We will no longer come during the wine village.

Nous nous sommes présenté sans réservation et nous avons été accueilli très cordialement. L'homme à la réception était top et que dire de notre serveuse ? Patiente, souriante, adorable... Et elle pratique un très bon anglais, ce qui ne gâche rien lorsque l'on est pas bon en allemand... Elle nous a conseillée de prendre la carte "tapas", histoire de nous donner une idée sur l'ensemble de la carte. Quelle bonne idée ! C'était un compromis idéal pour la famille. La bière était délicieuse. Nous avons eu droit à un échantillon d'apéritif et de digestif offert pour toute la famille (avec et sans alcool). Très bon repas dans l'ensemble, certes dans les plats tout n'était pas excellent, mais ce fût une agréable découverte (Cela dépendait des goûts de chacun). Et rien que pour la relation nouée durant le repas avec notre serveuse, cela vaut bien une note maxi !

It's a tapas style restaurant. The food comes out a bit small and you can order a variety of things. I think you only need to order one. Each piece costs around 8 euros, so it's a good restaurant for solo travelers or those on the go. The Kejes spaetzle was salty... (wherever you go, the food is salty...) The schnitzel was disappointing because it was different from the sauce I had in Munich or Austria, but it was fried well and warm, so it was delicious. They give you a welcome drink, and it's alcoholic and sweet, so it's delicious. The server was very friendly. At the end, when I was paying with my credit card, I mentioned a tip, so I gave it to him willingly, but I guess there was a reason for his kindness. Haha. Still, I left the meal in a much better mood than if I was being racially discriminated against. I tried the beer because Keller sells it as a draft beer, and it was not much different from regular beer than I thought and had a slightly wheaty taste, so it was delicious.

Rustic brewery style. The Swabian tapas were very tasty. Well suited to get to know Swabian cuisine or simply to share. Great selection of drinks. Very friendly and attentive staff.

The food and the idea behind it are good, but the price doesn't fit at all. Way too expensive for the portions! For example, we ordered bruschetta and received a small bowl of chopped tomatoes. You have to order bread separately…

Hier konnten wir die schwäbische Küche in Form von Tapas kennenlernen und waren von den verschiedenen kleinen Gerichten sehr angetan. Der freundliche Ober erklärte uns geduldig einzelne Tapas und beriet uns gut. Alles kam warm auf den Tisch und war sowohl geschmacklich als auch optisch 1A. Sehr lecker auch der alkoholfreie Mojito. Eine tolle Idee, einen Querschnitt der schwäbischen Küche auf diese Weise zu ermöglichen.

Host was super friendly and made us feel like friends. He acted as though he remembered us (our last visit was 4 months earlier) and treated us so well. Food was great and our out of town guests had fun eating traditional German food. We love the idea of German tapas so that you don’t have to commit to one dish. Great place to go with a group! As you can see, we ordered so much!

Place To Be for delicious Swabian specialties! Good ambience, good beer, delicious food. The small tapas sizes are perfect for simply trying out the menu. Recommend 2-3 dishes for an average hunger 😊

Good tapas in the Palatinate version

The ambience is great, everything looks wonderful, nice service - but the tables are too small even for two people. The food is mostly good, but doesn't blow you away - although you might expect that given the prices. What bothered/surprised me: Dishes with a presumably expensive cost of goods are priced similarly, such as the potato salad, which was boring (no acid, no depth, not bulky, not worthy of a Swabian tapas bar) and, at €7.40, was overpriced for the amount served. The excellent lentils with spaetzle and string sausage cost 90 cents more, similar to many other meat dishes on the menu. In my opinion this is disproportionate. A bit of price differentiation might be possible. do well. Otherwise, everything we ordered in terms of food and drinks was tasty, but sometimes only lukewarm. The food felt like it came straight away, which is generally not a problem since most of the food is prepared, but it just leads to a short overall enjoyment on site. Overall, I expected more from the food.

Swabian cuisine is inherently hearty and humble given the history and geography of the region, and Gasthaus Bären elevates it exquisitely. From meaty flavorful Maultaschen to eggs, potato, and sausage hash, the best of Svaiban dishes are all featured and delivered well in smaller shareable portions so that the cuisine can be experienced in its entirety. Located in an ultra charming setting, this is highly worth going out of your way to visit with family or friends if visiting Stuttgart. Kudos to the excellent service I received as well.

Great food, great attentive service, sitting outside on the street is something you have to know and like, but we had a great evening!

Great place to get to know traditional food in small portions (tapas). Great idea! Unfortunately we had to wait a bit for our reserved table (approx. 5 minutes), but we were immediately put off with a glass of wine without being spoken to. The staff was really very friendly and attentive. The tapas we ordered were all very tasty, only the spaetzle could have been more seasoned (nutmeg, pepper). The restaurant was very full and therefore loud and everything was a bit hectic. A timely reservation is recommended! Been there again, like last year everything was great...

The tapas didn't particularly appeal to me as they are quite small and nothing special. Dumplings in mushroom cream are great.

It's a very nice place and has a cool concept "schwabian tapas" the food is delicious and it's. A great way to try a lot of dishes instead of one big one. Of course it's pricey compared to a normal restaurant but delicious!

Staff very friendly, operations are on point. As a welcome there is schnapps for everyone. The food was served quickly. The taste was okay (no taste explosion, more like home cooking). Prices are ok.

Music too loud. Big money for little food. But the food was good compared to the standard metro food of other restaurants.

Once and never again. The food isn't bad but the prices are extortionate and sometimes you feel like you're being ripped off and the owners are greedy. Everything is served in tapas form. So mini portions. Each mini portion costs 8 euros. You need 3 plates to fill you up. Two mini meatball balls 8 euros. Two mini bread dumplings 8 euros. But the hit was the drinking water. I asked for a bottle of still water and I received an open jug of tap water 0.5l. I asked the saleswoman if it was tap water and she said yes but filtered. Oooooeeeoo. And? Because the tap has a filter, does that mean I want to drink this water and pay for it? It cost 5 euros. More than the beer. The tap water. They should be ashamed. In other European countries the mains water is protected. I then asked for a shot bottle of water. No, they don't have anything like that. Sorry, but I won't be fooled. If you like to be fooled then please. They should just rip him off. And if someone says: But almost all restaurants do that... then I will say. Everyone should be ashamed. And then above all, traditional German cuisine in tapas form? That's no go. Your ballerman inspirational...

Nice idea with the Swabian tapas, even if not all of the dishes are convincing (potato salad). Some things are a bit puny (meatballs, goulash).

Gasthaus Bären is my favorite restaurant in Stuttgart for German food. The customer service is simply the best. Everyone is very friendly and even multilingual. I look forward to visiting again soon.

The food, location and service were very tasty, nice and super friendly. Unfortunately there was a lot going on and the background noise was unpleasantly loud. It was difficult to have a conversation.

I went to the bear in Engstingen and I was very impressed. The atmosphere is very, very nice. The best castles!!!! 100/10 I recommend Bären Engstingen with a very clear conscience. Thank you team bears 🙏 See you soon

We are here for the Pentecost weekend We spontaneously got a table due to a guest's cancellation. This was rewarded with great service and food. Very nice service and exceptionally friendly, despite the restaurant being fully booked. Very happy again, can always be recommended. Thank you very much

A great opportunity to try Swabian cuisine

Swabian tapas... something completely different, but a great idea. We put together various tapas pans from various Swabian pre-main desserts. There were 8 of us there and so everyone could try everyone and everything...a fun and unusual idea. The service was also friendly and very accommodating. The only small drawback there, it is quite loud... P.S. The welcome schnapps was the burner 😉

If you want to try many of the delicious Swabian dishes and not just one, you've come to the right place. The dishes are available in small bowls and you can then count on around 3 bowls per person. The drinks (limos) are homemade and also delicious. Service staff are consistently friendly and “on the ball”. The price is not cheap, but reasonable.

The Swabian tapas were a great meal. This made choosing food so much easier because the four of us could easily eat our way through a lot of the menu. The staff was super friendly and the food was excellent (and I'm actually a very picky eater). Highly recommended, whether for everyday use or a visit to Stuttgart.

The Maultaschen were excellent, the cheese spaetzle was miserable and the schnitzel was dry and relatively expensive. Waiters were competent and friendly. It was extremely loud and not a pleasant atmosphere for conversation.

Everything is perfect, delicious food, great service and atmosphere. Perfect spot to discover the local cuisine. Also excellent if you have ppl visiting you and want to show and try different dishes from the region. The only shame is that there is no menu in English. This in 2024 in a city like Stuttgart should not be the case….otherwise highly recommended!

Best food I've had in Stuttgart. They serve small plates, recommend 2-3 per person. The ravioli were absolutely delicious - they reminded me of pot stickers in a delicious caramelized onion gravy. The deep fried apples in caramel with vanilla cream was an excellent dessert. The staff was incredibly kind and worked to help us interpret the menu when Google translate was taking us forever.
