Title: Simply brilliant – Swabian tapas at a high level! I went to this restaurant with a small group and we had an absolutely amazing evening! The idea of ​​offering Swabian tapas is simply great, and the implementation exceeded my expectations. We were lucky enough to get a cozy outdoor space under the roof, which was perfect that evening. It was very relaxed and we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather. A tent pavilion is also available for larger groups or in bad weather - really well thought out and flexible! However, in the evening it became very windy and the pollen from the trees and bushes blew through the air. This could be inconvenient for severe allergy sufferers, but we took it with humor. However, it shouldn't be an obstacle. The atmosphere is modern and cozy at the same time, so you immediately feel at home. The service staff was attentive and very friendly, which made the evening even more pleasant. The dishes were a perfect mix of everything without having to order large portions - from the classic Maultaschen to innovative spaetzle variations, everything was excellently prepared. Every tapas specialty was a little surprise and showed the attention to detail in Swabian cuisine. The price-performance ratio is also good, especially for the high quality of the food. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend this restaurant!

We found the place by chance based on reviews on maps and did not regret coming. It’s a very cool concept here - they serve full meals for 8-9 euros in small plates as snacks and this way you can try different dishes of local cuisine, which was very convenient for us as tourists. The food is delicious, there’s nothing to complain about at all. We tried exclusively Swabian cuisine and were very pleased. I was also very pleased with the raspberry schnapps. The next day they returned for cocktails and schnapps.

Excellent place to learn about Swabische cuisine thru tapas. Maultaschen and meatballs are a treat. Asiya was a great host, walking us thru menu. Overall well deserved 5 stars.

The place is full of people, but the guys are very good at the service and the typical Swabian cuisine is excellent. They are small tasting portions to share together happily. My goulash with home recipe (shame I didn't photograph it) was excellent! And the dessert was delicious too!

It was our first time here and we were completely satisfied. The staff was really friendly, the food was very tasty and the portions for tapas were also large. Even though it was a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was very busy and reservations are also recommended during the week. Because the restaurant was very full, the noise level was relatively high. We definitely had a great evening with delicious food and will definitely come back!

I have to revise my outdated rating :-) I now think the portions are reasonable and so far everything I've tried has been delicious. The waitresses are also always friendly and very attentive. I also really like how well-kept the outdoor area with the adjacent public green strip is. Other locations in Stuttgart could follow an example.

A very nice evening at the Bären inn. The food was really delicious and the drinks were also really good. We were immediately greeted with shots and the waiter was very attentive and very hardworking. We were very satisfied overall and had a great evening! ☺️

The ambience is nice, the service is OK with room for improvement, the price-performance ratio doesn't suit me at all. The taste of the food is okay but it doesn't stand out from other really good Swabian restaurants. In my opinion the prices are exaggerated, the tapas are ultimately just tiny portions for a lot of money.

It was an incredibly great evening with delicious food and great service. We were very pleased with the choice of food and the service. The cocktails and Bärenspritz in particular are highly recommended! Our highlight was definitely the fried Maultaschen ;) PS: Also a great choice for birthdays, as you can even get table fireworks with shots with the support of your circle of friends! We went there for dinner about a week ago. In my mind, I pictured a small restaurant with eight people inside and a quaint bar. So, I was surprised that everything was a bit different than I expected. It was so crowded, you'd think you were at Chez Ritz or something, but we tried our luck and actually got the last table before 8 p.m. - GREAT. We were assigned our waiter, had two shots, and the concept was explained to us. Basically, you order whatever you want from the menu from various categories, which cost an average of €6, so you basically put together a large meal. We had the fried Maultaschen (swabian dumplings), meatballs, cheese spaetzle, salad, and dessert. Be sure to check the prices on the menu, because it can get expensive if you lose track. But we really got our money's worth. - Maultauschen in sauce - Käsespätzle - Meatballs - Beetroot salad - Regular salad - Dessert 1 - Dessert 2 - Dessert 3 - Large blackcurrant spritzer - Iced espresso So, for a meal with a large dessert and drinks, we paid just under €70, which is a bit high compared to the portion size and the competition. The quality is consistently good, though; the fried Maultaschen are very, very good, the meatballs are rather average, and the spaetzle are good. What really blew me away, though, was the pancake with jam... If I'd known how divine they tasted, I would have simply ordered a wheelbarrow of them instead of the meal. How can something be so good? If you've seen that one scene in the movie Ratatouille where the critic eats this little thing, you know how I felt. All in all, we were treated nicely, given good advice and it tasted good too

It's best to share lots of Swabian tapas with a lot of people. All the food was very good, the atmosphere was very pleasant and the service was very unobtrusive and yet extremely attentive.

The staff is friendly and nice, the service was fast and precise. The reservation time was respected, but since we arrived a few minutes early we were given a glass of wine. The dishes are tasty.

It was our first time at Bären and we were warmly welcomed with a welcome shot and a short explanation of the restaurant concept. We thought the idea of ​​using local dishes as tapas was great, but unfortunately we weren't able to try as much as we would have liked! The homemade Maultaschen and the apple cake were sensational! We can describe the service as excellent; we have rarely seen such nice, attentive waiters at work! With two people we spent just under €55 and were very full and had a great evening! As tourists, we wanted to eat Swabian, but with a bit of a twist. We enjoyed everything in the bear; nice atmosphere, fine food, a nice local wine list, and everything at a fair price. After the main course we wanted to order dessert - the waiter said it was too quick and we should play a round of cards first - and brought a set of UNO playing cards... Be sure to reserve a table.

We were in Stuttgart today for an event and reserved a table in Bären. The reception was friendly and our waiter was very humorous and attentive. We really like the concept because we like to eat tapas and “tasters”. I can't understand some of the negative recessions. Tapas are small dishes of which several are ordered. This guarantees satiety. My husband is 1.96cm tall and simply ordered more, he was full. The price is absolutely appropriate. There was a lot of staff in business, we were there from around 3:20 p.m. and little by little more staff came into the restaurant, which was certainly needed for the evening. This staff costs money because if there are no staff, then there are fewer guests. Who else is going to cook or serve them? Who else is supposed to prepare the tables or wash the dishes for the next guests? We will come again with friends. Thanks for the great afternoon By the way, the “toilet sound system” is really funny. We've never experienced anything like this before.

Swabian tapas. Something new and a great experience for local Swabians too.

We stopped by the Bären for a Swabian tapas evening. You should definitely make a reservation on the weekends. All dishes are very tasty and the Maultaschen are homemade or definitely of a higher quality. The concept of the bear building the menus in school notebooks and ordering the tapas yourself on the order sheets is simple and something different. Food is brought to the table promptly so that all hot food at the table was warm. In some cases the prices for the small dishes are slightly higher, and you also pay a bit for the location. Hence 4 stars. Paying by card was no problem, the cocktails were delicious and the service was friendly - despite the restaurant being full.

Overall we weren't impressed. We were there on a Saturday evening and it was very busy. You sit very close together and it was very loud. Unfortunately, the food was only lukewarm, nothing hot. The recommended 2-3 tapas per person will not satisfy any adult, neither woman nor man. (We had 3 per person). Overall, very, very expensive. However, the staff was very friendly throughout and the food came quickly.

Great concept, nice service, great ambience. A lot of things were very tasty, but the food/cooking water was often missing a pinch of salt. Dear Bear Cooks, I know bears are a bit clumsy when it comes to courtship, but being a little more in love would certainly bring even better reviews for the inn. You know the expression, right??? :) Good luck and the concept is 1A, keep it up. 🙏

The restaurant has the Spanish sweet concept with small portions served in pans (tapas). Unfortunately, they weren't even full, so you would definitely expect more for the price. The costs are simply too high - actually a pan should cost maybe half as much to be fair. The taste of the food was mediocre, so nothing special that would justify the high price. The friendly service is positive, but overall the price-performance ratio is simply not right here. Afterwards we went somewhere else to eat because we were still very hungry, even though we had already spent almost €30 p.p. had issued.

We visited the Bären for the first time with a larger group and it was GREAT. The quality of the food, the really cheap price in my opinion and the great, calm service. Great all around and we will all be back. Unfortunately, we were relatively late and the table was very, very full with the delicious Swabian delicacies, all of which (and we had almost everything) were great without exception. Next time we'll come by 7 p.m. at the latest so that we can eat over a longer period of time and don't have to order everything at once. The great concept seems to have gotten around, so we recommend making an early reservation as the restaurant is always fully booked. Clear recommendation!

The service was great, absolutely friendly, funny and in a chatting mood. The food was world class. Everyone should have been there. The service is very friendly and nice. The food is completely overpriced. For two small meatballs (mini meatballs) you pay €8! (See picture attached) The concept used to be good and the prices around €5 were reasonable. Today one can only speak of significant overpricing with less than average quality of food.

Very tasty, varied food. First class staff, professional hospitality. I loved listening to Peppa Wust in German in the toilet, great gag! :) The place is popular, it is recommended to book a table in advance. If I return to Stuttgart, I will definitely come here again.

disappointing. the service was nice and attentive. The concept with the Swabian tapas is absolutely great - and the reason for our visit. Selection is i. O. But: the dishes were all lukewarm to cold, the taste was average at best, and by no means appropriate for the price level. When the waitress asked, we mentioned that the food wasn't warm. We were then offered compensation in the form of a coffee. After speaking to the restaurant manager, we didn't get this, nor any explanation. It's incomprehensible why it was offered at all, and the invoice wasn't adjusted either. Conclusion: no culinary highlight, mass processing and a restaurant manager who does not consider it necessary to respond to feedback. We won't come back,

The service was friendly. The price-performance ratio is disappointing: the portions are not only disproportionately small, but also unsatisfactory in quality. Classic Swabian dishes, which should normally impress with their taste, were surprisingly bland and more reminiscent of canteen food. The price for tap water, which is charged at €5, is particularly unreasonable. In addition, the layout of the space is not very inviting - the tables are so close together that it is almost unavoidable to touch other guests when you want to reach your seat. The overall ambience gives the impression of mass processing, which also detracts from the experience. There is an urgent need for improvement here in many respects.

We were a large group of 9 people. No problem with advance reservation. Food good as usual. I always enjoy coming back.

After a lovely evening at this bar, I can assure you that the German food is some of the best in the world. The bar is perfectly located in the city centre. All the waiters and waitresses are very friendly and pleasant. I especially recommend the meat with sauce, and the Spätzle among several other delicacies.

Loved the food and the atmosphere. It’s a little different from a traditional restaurant. Here you order with your dining partners, sharing each dish. It was all traditional Swabian food and carefully prepared with great ingredients. We had a lovely cheese platter paired with jam and grapes, spatzel, sauerkraut, pot roast, bacon fried potatoes and beet salad and it was a good amount for two adults with big appetites who hadn’t eaten all day. Highly recommend!

Good selection of Swabian cuisine in (mostly) small plates; good choices for omnivores and vegetarians. Visited December 2024. We ordered too much food (very easy to do) but it was all quite good. the roasted potatoes with salmon was seasoned nicely with tender chunks of salmon. The other dishes we ordered arrived quickly. There's a good drink selection with some interesting cocktails. We didn't have a reservation on account of an early dinner but if arriving after 1900 or with a large group, reservations are recommended.

We spontaneously had dinner here and were able to get a seat without a reservation, even though there was a lot of activity (apparently company Christmas parties). The principle of the inn is based on that of a tapas bar. You order small dishes that you can then share. Everyone gets a plate and can take any of the dishes ordered. The highlight: there are regional dishes including cheese spaetzle, bread dumplings, Maultaschen and co. My partner and I really enjoyed the evening at Gasthaus Bären and would like to give them high praise and a big recommendation. If we're ever in the area again, we'd love to come back.
