Excellent German pub one street behind the promenade by the lake. The food here is very good and we had a delightful waitress. There is a menu in English, too.

I can highly recommend this inn. It was delicious, the portions were good, and the prices were reasonable. The decor is old but nice, with lots of old pictures between the old circus and the train station. Simply beautiful.

The restaurant is right in the city center, crowded and bustling. I like the salmon and beer here. However, the restaurant is quite crowded so I have to wait about 30 minutes for food.

A great place with delicious German cuisine. Unfortunately, we were a bit unlucky that day and were often overlooked, making us wait a long time for our food. The service was nevertheless very friendly and attentive. However, the smoking area right by the entrance is very annoying if you have a table on the corner there. Otherwise, the atmosphere is very good and the rustic decor very inviting.

Unfortunately, it's a warmed-up convenience schnitzel. Nevertheless, the time and atmosphere make it a good place to go, but I wouldn't expect much from the food.

We really enjoyed the Gasthaus an der Alster. My rump steak was well-cooked and tasty, and my girlfriend's asparagus and schnitzel were also excellent. The decor is quaint, clean, and inviting. The service was friendly and attentive. We'd love to go back!

Very delicious food, the service is super friendly and prompt. The whole thing took an hour for two people. It only took 15 minutes for the food to arrive, and dessert was quick too! The restaurant is very rustic yet cozy. I always enjoy coming here.

Regional and cozy... ...we wanted to have dinner, and the walk to the hotel shouldn't be far – during our online search, we repeatedly came across the "Gasthaus an der Alster" and chose it. The inn is cozy and quaint, with several seating areas, making it well-divided. This also creates a sense of separation between the different areas. Our table was on a small gallery, which, like others, was enclosed by a balustrade. It was also spacious enough for five people. We had a variety of dishes, from Labskaus to salmon to schnitzel. These were all good and to our taste. The portions were generous and good value for money. We were served by a friendly and pleasant employee who was also very attentive overall.

We celebrated our birthday there. Everything was well organized and lovingly prepared. Everyone really enjoyed it, and everyone really enjoyed the food. We'll definitely be back. Thank you very much.

However, we were lucky here, and the lady on the phone was super friendly. We called shortly before 7 p.m., and by 7:30 p.m. we had already booked a table. The service was fantastic; we were served quickly. Less than 30 minutes later, our food was on the table. The food was delicious. Highly recommended; we'll be back if we're ever in Hamburg again.

Hello! We came to Hamburg for a short trip. We decided on this breathtaking restaurant for the evening. The rustic decor is truly beautiful! We really wanted to go to a restaurant and this one caught our attention. From the reception to the payment, we were very pleasant, and we were very well looked after by the nice lady. We arrived without a reservation, the restaurant was FULL, and on a Tuesday evening, outside of the school holiday season! After waiting less than two minutes, we got a chic table in a niche… that's what I call hospitality! We'd be happy to go again. I had the herring fillets, home-style, a feast I won't want to miss. If we come to Hamburg again, this will be our first stop. Thank you very much for the lovely evening, and see you soon!☺️

I visited this restaurant as a party of two, and we spent nearly €60 for one glass of wine, one tea, and two main dishes and one desert which is pretty good price. The service was very slow, not to be unfair to the waitress, who was friendly and doing her best, but she seemed to be managing all the tables by herself. With more support, the service could have been better. The food was okay, not something I would crave or come back for, but it was edible. There was a lot of sauce, which overpowered the flavor of the fish. Overall, I would rate the experience as average I would have rated them 4 if I would have not tied the desert! The ice cream was very low quality ice cream with wipe cream coming from those sprays.

The friendly man behind the counter is so quick and clean, I've never seen anything like it! If I lived in Hamburg, I'd love to work a few more hours in this restaurant as a waitress! Chapeau! It's always nice to eat in this restaurant. The food is German cuisine. The portions aren't that big and the prices aren't among the cheapest either. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. The ambience itself is quite nice. It's exciting what you discover there. The toilet is in the basement and can only be reached via stairs. A bit difficult for seniors.

Located in the old city (Altstadt) of Hamburg, close to the lake, the municipality and shopping area. With a traditional atmosphere, they serve very well and the quality of the food is excellent.

We always enjoy coming here, nice restaurant in the middle of the city. Original furnishings made to look old. The service is very friendly, sometimes it takes a while to get something to eat... but it's not a bad thing. The food is "home-style" and if you want to eat something hearty in the city without having to take out a small loan, you've come to the right place.

Although the atmosphere is rustic, the sewer smell drowns out everything, the food is overpriced, the quality is not great, and the wine is not recommended!

Had a traditional meal, and since it was a side street away from the Alster, it was well located and quieter. The inn is interestingly old-fashioned, but decorated in a very cool way. The food was surprisingly good. Would go out to eat again. We paid around €55 for two people with a starter and drinks. But we were also well full.

The restaurant is very large and spacious. We had two lovely service staff who asked several times if everything was OK. While the two were busy, the barman also ventured out from behind the bar and spoke to people. I felt very comfortable. The food was very tasty and inexpensive. The furnishings are rather rustic and therefore create a nice atmosphere of a long-established inn. There is a large selection, especially for fish and meat lovers. The selection for vegetarians was also okay. All in all we had a great stay.

We were back after a long time. A quaint, original restaurant right on the Alster, affectionately known as "Grandma's," located right next to the Europapassage. The menu is homely and the food is delicious. The beer is tasty, and the place invites you to linger. A small criticism of the food was initially taken lightly by the service, but after discussion, the solution wasn't entirely satisfactory. We will be back, nonetheless.

We were back in this nice inn today. A very open-minded waitress and great food again. Today the tribal food was fricassee with peas and asparagus with a choice of rice, potatoes or penne. An absolute insider tip! Originally decorated shop with quick and really friendly service. We had a great time and heard a few Hamburg stories. Also probably one of the very few restaurants that still offer Labskaus (the really recommended one, don't be put off!!).

My German-born wife had called and booked a table a few days before. When we got there they just pointed to a table pushed into a corner without even greeting us. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to get the worst table if you book in advance. We didn't complain as we thought it would be full later. It didn't happen. We ordered ¨Sauerfleisch hausgemacht, mit Remouladensauce, dazu Bratkartoffeln". A dish we often and happily eat when we are in northern Germany. To lighten it all up, we ordered "Tomatensalat mit Zwiebeln und Schnittlauch". The portions were huge but the quality was low. The meat didn't taste much and was far too cold and compact. Almost hard to cut. The only positive was that the jelly was quite good. Normally it is good to have a little jelly on the Bratkatoffeln but not on this potato. Only the potato slices that were on top were soft. The tomato sauce was not good at all. The tomatoes that were covered in the pesto were not eaten . Now we just wanted to finish and go but we took home made Rote Grütze it was my birthday after all. Rote Grütze was the best of the whole meal, although my wife suspects that "hausgemacht" meant that they mixed ready-made Rote Grütze powder with frozen berries. It was a dinner we will remember for a long time, but unfortunately for the wrong reason. We visit northern Germany several times and Hamburg once a year but this is not a place we return to.

Simply our best meal in Hamburg. Fantastic menu, great beer and a nice whisky to finish. The creme of lobster soup was absolutely delicious. Thank you to all the staff who made sure that we had a lovely time. We'll be back for sure!

Was there on a Saturday without a reservation. I got a table from the friendly staff after a short wait. I had an onion soup as a starter and the grilled game platter as a main course, which is not on the menu. Stand on the exhibitor at the entrance. It was delicious and I would go there again to eat again another season.
