The gastronomy of a global city isn't characterized by the fact that there are expensive pseudo-exotic restaurants on every street corner, but by places like Ganesha: Here, a Tamil couple who fled Sri Lanka in the 1980s to escape the civil war have brought a piece of their homeland with them for their own community. Their son has since taken over management. The modest interior has something improvised and makeshift about it; there are still splashes of paint on the window from the last renovation in early 2018, and in winter, the apparently malfunctioning heating is helped along with a gas heater. The predominantly South Indian clientele that frequents this place isn't bothered by this. The only inconvenience is that the ventilation cover was removed during the renovation, which makes quite a bit of noise – but in Asia, people are used to very different noise levels, and as soon as the place is full, lively conversations in Tamil and English drown out the hum. At unbeatably low prices, you can find mostly South Indian staples like dosa (stuffed pancakes) or idli (steamed dumplings made from bean and rice flour) with sambhar (lentil sauce with tamarind) or meat sauce, along with a few North Indian classics. South and North Indian thali (mixed platters prepared daily) are available in vegetarian or meat versions. Those seeking authentic taste in an authentic atmosphere have come to the right place. Regulars are greeted with great friendliness and appreciation by the chef. You can return the favor by dropping small change into a donation box for a Tamil educational institution. In short: Ganesha is priceless.

They make very good dosa, mendhu bada, idli, chutney, sambar and mutton roll/croquette. Service is excellent. Always smiling even though very busy. Only problem the sitting is too tight during busy hours. It can be long wait to get a table. But it’s worth it.

A simple restaurant serving tasty home style tamil food at reasonable prices. I had dinner 4 to 5 days here continously and it looked healthy and did not troble my bowels. Beware of telling the correct spice level while ordering food, because their spice level is really spicey.

I was walking by at lunch time and saw they had a cheap buffet so I stopped in. There’s nothing fancy or particularly attractive about this restaurant and I must say it was the smallest Indian buffet I have ever seen. There were only a handful of items. But everything was tasty. I left feeling full and satisfied and my stomach never got rumbly due to this meal. I’ve had some harrowing gastrointestinal moments after eating at some Indian buffets. So all in all this was a solid option at an nice price.

This place was recommended by a close friend, and I’m so glad we decided to check it out. Four of us visited together and ordered a wide variety of dishes. Every single item exceeded our expectations — the flavors were rich, authentic, and reminded us of the kind of food you would lovingly prepare at home. Visit this restaurant for some really flavorful south Indian cuisines. Prices are slightly cheaper than other Indian restaurants. Location is really convenient - very close to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. Must try 'Butter Masala Dosa'. They also offer 'thalis'. A range of options available for vegetarians. Service can be faster - feels like they are understaffed. Overall recommended!

Amazing south indian food! Enjoyed it!

We had masala chai, vada, lamb kottu and idly with chicken curry. The portion of idly and kottu is super enough for a person and the vada was so crispy and hot. The service was also really good.

As a Tamil from Sri Lanka, I can absolutely recommend the shop. Authentic and diverse food, simple atmosphere, super nice staff. My go-to Sri Lankan when I'm homesick ;)

Ein Inder der sich Mühe gibt seine Kunden zufrieden zu stellen. Zum Mittagstisch gute Preise zu sehr geschmackvollem Essen. Eine große Auswahl. Eigentlich schmeckt es immer gut obwohl ich natürlich meine Lieblinge habe. Es gibt zu jedem Gericht eine kl Suppe, Dann ein kl Stück Papdam, eine Süßigkeit und das Hauptgericht natürch. Ich esse gerne Huhn mein Freund liebt das vegetarische.

Simply the worst restaurant I've ever visited which has a rude waiter who is always grumpy and thinks he is running a charity and throwing free food on us. Bro forgot that we all pay the bill amount for all the food we eat. Such a horrible restaurant where the waiter gets offended if you ask to repeat an order after you finish one round of your meal. The waiter expects you to order everything for everyone at one go and if in case if you repeat an order, he gets offended and shows you all kind of uncomfortable gestures on his face. If you have kids and if you are really looking forward to have a peaceful time with your family, please avoid going to this place.

Hermano olvidó que todos pagamos la factura de toda la comida que comemos. Un restaurante tan horrible donde el camarero se ofende si pide repetir un pedido después de terminar una ronda de su comida. El camarero espera que pidas todo para todos de una sola vez y si en caso de que repitas un pedido, se ofenda y te muestre todo tipo de gestos incómodos en su cara. Si usted tiene hijos y si realmente está deseando pasar un tiempo tranquilo con su familia, por favor evite ir a este lugar.

The food here is good, but the owner, who also serves, was extremely rude, inconsiderate, and biased. It’s no wonder most people prefer going to Saravana Bhavan instead of this restaurant. Good food isn’t enough to overlook such poor customer service.

If you really want to try original flavours of the food you cook at home, This is the place to go. Fell in love with the hospitality of the staff in my first visit. The prices are also genuine. I ordered several dishes and tea.. all of them 10 out of 10 in authentic taste and health perspective.

I ordered lamb biriyani- take away. It was salty, flaming hot spicy and i couldn’t even eat the food. Rice looked so dark brown filled completely with masala, lamb or whatever meat they had was so awful. So disappointing. PS : I am Indian and i know how Biriyanis are supposed to taste.

Good Indian food, I had some lamb with the classical side of garlic naan and fried onions as a starter and every bite was a pleasure. Order placed over Lieferando, delivery was fast, even on a busy Friday evening and the food was still warm on delivery.

A very good lunch is offered there as the all-you-can-eat. The service is very polite and the food tastes good! The store itself is tiny, and the simple interior just fits the store. Don't be put off by the furnishings, highly recommended! The price-performance ratio is great! I would love to come back.

Best place for South Indian food in Frankfurt. Their sambhar is really good, you can taste all the ingredients and efforts which would have gone in making it, the tanginess due to tamarind is what won me over. We had ordered vadai, masala dosa and idiapam with chicken curry. Vadai and dosa were crispy and delicious. We had asked them to make the chicken curry spicy and they had delivered, idiapam were also soft and tender. Please be aware, this place only accepts cash.

This place is amazing. I always go here for such a good value lunch with really tasty options and it's all you can eat. I then return for dinner and their Bryani might be the best meal there is in Frankfurt. It's incredible. Lovely people too! Highly recommend

Food is good, but behaviour of the people who serve food is not good. He is rude and misbehaves with customers. He would first delay the order and when you ask for you order. He will start shouting at you. Otherwise food is really nice and tasty. We have stopped going to Ganesha and opted Sarvana Bhawan just because of the rude behaviour and ill treatment by owner of this place. If you want to enjoy food but you can afford to ruin your mood then this place is suggested. If you want to enjoy food with keeping good mood, then don't visit this place

Price performance best Indian in the city!

I ordered masala dosa and Indian Tea.Both are to good so I recommend to try masala dosa.

I just came from India. This is real South Indian food. Authentic!! It may take a little longer to get your order, but only because it is really freshly prepared. You just notice. The food was really hot. The Idli/Vada combination was really hot. The portions are large. Almost only locals.

Worst experience I ever had in germany. I'm from tamil nadu. I was eagerly waiting to eat a good south indian food after long time. But all they gave me is disappointment. I have never been treated like the way they treated.Even I'm paying cash for the food. I'm not getting anything free of charge from them. Pure frustration. I will Never suggest this restaurant. Learn to treat customers well.

If you want to have the proper masala Dosa like you have in South India, you have just been to the right place, they serve the proper dosa with Sambar.

I recently visited an Indian restaurant and finally had the pleasure of savoring an authentic Masala Dosa after a long time. The taste transported me back to the streets of India with its perfect blend of spices and the crispy texture of the dosa.

This south indian restaurant was nearby to our hotel, while I wouldn't label it as the absolute best, it certainly offered some good options. Our order included biryani, which, unfortunately, didn't meet our expectations. Though the rice was fragrant and flavorful, the meat wasn't cooked to perfection. On a brighter note, we also tried the idli vada with sambar and chutney, and I must say, the sambar and chutney was very good. The idli was soft and well-prepared, and I loved the vada. Upon request, they also give you extra sambar chutney at no additional cost. The price was reasonable as well. The mango lassi was the best though! If you're a fan of Indian snacks, this place offers a good variety. One thing to note is that they only accept cash; cards are not accepted. So, it's advisable to keep this in mind when you visit.

Die ist definitiv nicht eingedeutscht. Selbst das schäbiges Interieur passt einfach zu dem Laden. Ich komme sehr gern wieder. Achtung: nur abends a la Carte, soweit ich weiß. I was in Frankfurt for a few hours before heading out, and came across this place about 10 mins walk from the train station. Amazing food, best sambhar and Rasam. Had a Vegetarian Thali, got an extra serving of rice and sambhar for no extra charge. If you want to eat good South Indian food in Frankfurt this is a place to try and the owners were really sweet.

Family owned & run, lovely sweet people. Very tasty food, properly priced, good portion. Place to visit again and again. Much much better in comparison to Indian south indian restaurant chains that are turning into worst places to have nice food.

It was good as they are the only place in Frankfurt serving " iddiappam ", so we went there. But order idiappam with chicken and not chana, as they don't have kala chana. Best place for south Indian food around Frankfurt. We tried other restaurants in Frankfurt city. This is the only place we got proper South Indian idly vada sambar. Their sambar taste is as good as home food.

Their Idly & Vadai combo is the best economically and gastronomically. Atmosphere: You can dine inside their restaurant or can sit outside, since we visited in peak summer, we sat outside, it was calm and good.
