Great atmosphere in this old traditional inn. Unfortunately, the owner was in a bad mood during our visit and made it quite clear to the guests.

Unfortunately, I also cannot recommend this place! We (2) arrived without a reservation and were offered a table right next to the restrooms, even though the place was completely empty... Every table had a "Reserved" sign, but when we left after 1.5 hours, the restaurant wasn't even half full. The food was abysmal... My creamed mushrooms arrived cold, the fried chicken was completely dry and tasteless. The potato salad was also bland. But the Kaiserschmarrn was an absolute disgrace. I don't think the chef has ever even seen a proper Kaiserschmarrn – simply inedible. This morning I had terrible stomach pains and I'm sure it was due to some kind of "ready-made sauce" or the frozen Kaiserschmarrn. We will never go back here!

A quaint Munich shop. Homemade and delicious. Friendly, very quaint and lovely.

Delicious, hearty food; very pleasant atmosphere; charmingly rustic. We even managed to get some festival beer! If you're looking for an authentic Munich pub, this is the place to go!

Unfortunately, it was a flop. We wanted to grab a bite to eat in the Fraunhofer courtyard shortly before the event. The fact that the two of us were assigned a table next to the restroom, even though the entire restaurant was empty and there was a reservation sign at every table, was a given! We immediately stated that we could only stay for half an hour. Our orders for pumpkin soup and a large chicken soup were taken. Although there were hardly any people there at the time of our order, the pumpkin soup took 23 minutes and the chicken soup 31 minutes later! The pumpkin soup was unseasoned and simply bland, like water that had been passed through by a pumpkin. The chicken soup contained a maximum of 10g of chicken, and the value for money was completely disgraceful. I had to hastily spoon the soup down and was still late for the performance. It seems to be part of this restaurant's policy that meals for a table don't go over the pass together, but half an hour for a simple soup is simply outrageous.

No longer recommended. The only thing worth mentioning is the decor; it hasn't changed in almost 30 years and has a traditional charm. The wine selection also seems to have changed little. The rosé wine has been on the menu for at least 20 years, but I don't like it anymore, nor the Chardonnay, and the wine spritzer is made from a really bad wine. We weren't impressed with the food either. One of them was Kasspatzn, which arrived in just a few minutes because they were just warmed up. They were swimming in a lot of oil, with no fried onions, and it looked more like a cafeteria than a pub. The side salad was drab and soggy. The service was friendly and quick.

A wonderful brewery, off the beaten path. Local cuisine classics, prepared according to tradition. Desserts include a generous Kaiserschmarren with apple puree.

Authentic Bavarian style. Unfortunately, the portions are a bit small. The service is charming, though the owner is a bit gruff. Nice ambiance, but a bit loud.

Used to live across the street 25 years ago. This was my favorite place in the world. Friendly. Delicious. Fun. Always packed. Last night I revisited and found a half empty, overpriced restaurant serving inedible food with extreme rudeness. The waiter just lit into me when I politely asked, after an HOUR, why our food was taking so long. My entire career has been in the restaurant business and it's extremely sad to see that a legend has been ruined. Staff that think they are cool but can't realize their attitudes are why the place is half empty nowadays. Staff that just don't know how to treat good customers who would have had dessert and more drinks and would have left a big tip if they simply weren't arrogant and rude.Goodbye Fraunhofer, not aufwiedersehen.

Typical Bavarian-style restaurant. Very nice location. Excellent food, especially the bratwurst and spaetzle. Excellent service, perhaps a little slow, but adequate. Fair prices. Recommended.

Whenever I'm in Munich, a visit to the Fraunhofer Institute is a must. I love the cuisine and the ambiance there!

Warning: This is a complete hygiene trap. The kitchen is full of mouse droppings. Avoid this place at all costs.

This place was recommended by my AirBnB host. It was nice & quiet when I arrived (~5:45pm Thurs afternoon). You sit anywhere you like & they will bring a menu. Be patient with the staff: I saw two staff members handling the increasing crowd while I sat at my table. Don’t hesitate to say “Entschuldigung” when u see them running from table to kitchen to table The beers (1 wheat & 1 dark) were spot on. And my dinner was very tasty. Although, I have to admit, the dessert was tastier! I’d recommend for someone wanting to relax & decompress. Alternatively, recommended for groups of 4+

The dressing, if any, is unbearably horrible. The dead animals on the wall can attest to that...

One of Munich's last truly old-school bars! Great! It's simply fantastic that it hasn't been "modernized" over the years, but is still just like it was 50 years ago. Thank you!!!!! Thank you that something like this still exists in Munich!

An absolute must for a Munich restaurant. Authentic Munich from top to bottom. Plus culture. Plus excellent vegan food.

Rustic Bavarian style, with very friendly and attentive service. Unfortunately, the main courses didn't arrive at the same time, which was a bit unfortunate and results in a star deduction. It's a bit noisy, but that's normal for a Bavarian restaurant. Organic meat, good wine, and a wide selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Very bad Service, mediocre food

Incredibly expensive food that's only marginally good. Four asparagus stalks for €23, ridiculous. Meatballs practically burnt and dry. And on top of that, the rude service – that's just not acceptable. This is the last time we'll be here!

Die altehrwürdige Gastwirtschaft ist leider längst nicht so gut wie ihr Ruf. Wir waren mit der Familie da. Das Essen war unterdurchschnittlich, die aufgetischt Ente könnte man aufgrund ihrer seltsamen „Füllung“ vorsichtig als ungenießbar bezeichnen. Die Ochsenbackerl in Rotwein-Sauce ließen den Rotwein vermissen. Das Hirschgeweih zur Deko in der Wand war mit Spinnweben bedeckt. Der Ober wirkte lustlos. Wir gingen mit dem Gefühl nach Hause, viel zu viel Geld für viel zu wenig Leistung bezahlt zu haben. Sehr schade, dass die wunderbare Inneneinrichtung und der Charme der historischen Gastwirtschaft nicht besser bespielt werden.

First of all, something positive...the ambience is typical of an older inn. That's it. For food... Tried to order fried chicken with fries instead of fried potatoes. So I didn't go back to fried potatoes...then just ordered them very well fried (as on the menu). Baked chicken with ready-made potato salad came out of the BUCKET. Then ordered Kaiserschmarrn, not ultra sweet...according to the waitress, the dough is pre-made and can't be changed...it just came out so sweet...well, you can try it. Ampfelkuchen still didn't come after 40 minutes. Beer...ordered cellar beer first. That was supposedly sold out. Then just ordered dark strong beer. Afterwards the waitress came back and said the strong beer was out...she had a cellar beer with her. With 8 people, we only ordered a total of 4 meals and received the food over 40 minutes....after the 3rd food delivery, the waitress said...it was normal that not everyone got food at the same time...everything was ok. But there was nothing going on in the store and then it was divided into 40 minutes and then half as you hadn't ordered... Wrong calculation at the end that was only correct after the 5th correction. Still 160 euros. For ready meals and service...I'll cook myself next time. Thank you and never again.

It's crowded, it's hard to find a seat, the waiters serve like they're tired and fed up, the food is middle class, the beers are amazing.

Terrible service. I got a soup and it was nice but the waiters were extremely rude and screaming at people that were waiting in line to pay as the cashier was next to the serving station. If you dont want people in the service station then dont make people pay at the cashier thats right next to the service station. Terrible. Regretting my tip.

All the food was bad, unfortunately there is no other way to say it; The first food that was on the table was 10 minutes cold when the time came. The waitresses were very nice and tried hard. Noise like in a train station hall

Really Bavarian, really cozy and great food

HANDS OFF HERE. 1 hour waiting time for Wiener Schnitzel and 1 beer. NOT recommended at all because of the price alone. Unfriendly waiters etc. If you are understaffed, you should at least say that you should expect a wait of over 60 minutes. Unbelievable... 1h waiting time for a freaking schnitzel and a beer? Too expensive for a low-quality dish.

Last night we spontaneously went to the inn to have a nice evening, have a drink and eat Bavarian food. After ordering the food, it turned out that a dish was no longer available. This is absolutely no problem, but our waiter threw the menu at my friend and told him to find something himself if he didn't like it... it quickly became clear that our waiter obviously didn't enjoy his job. We (all restaurateurs) left the restaurant immediately because it had been a long time since we had been served in such an unfriendly and condescending manner. The industry likes to complain about how bad things are going and how terrible everything is... but we often make life difficult for ourselves, and the young man with a special hairstyle unfortunately didn't understand what his core tasks in service were. Showing people a good time, benevolent and polite, bringing food from A to B. Then it would also work with tips and positive reviews. Stucco alone is not enough. Management should really rethink this personnel position.

Great food. Very traditional ambience, but incredibly loud. Fine if you want traditional German pub/guesthouse ambience with everyone talking at the top of their voice. Not so much if it is a quiet couple's dinner..

A classic Bavarian tavern. Very tasty beer and good pub food. The orders arrived very mixed up, so it wasn't a shared meal with the group. However, that is also why it is a pub and not a restaurant. The ambience is also as you would imagine, a little louder, but in no way annoying or disturbing.

Unfortunately, this visually appealing restaurant lives only from the furniture and not from the people - it has nothing to do with a pub. The food was mediocre, the service was not friendly, almost sloppy. But the Kaiserschmarrn should be highlighted - it was really very good, hence the second star.

Unfortunately we didn't read the review beforehand and we were lured in by the look. Goose was hard and tough, schnitzel was dripping with fat and had nothing to do with a Viennese schnitzel as we know it. We were seated in an unfriendly manner and should have turned around by then. Food arrived delayed and, as described above, not really tasty. Very unfortunate.

We were here for the first time with 5 people. Everyone ordered different food. Everyone has been disappointed. Every meal had a flaw!

Unfortunately, you get the feeling of being a nuisance as a guest here. The food is carelessly thrown onto the table. If there are still things on the table, the plate is simply placed on top. Here, as a guest, you are more likely to have to apologize if you hinder the staff in their work. Sometimes there were longer periods when everyone at the table ran out of drinks. The food comes staggered and is not worth the price. Towards the end it gets really uncomfortable. The staff points out that they end at 12:00 a.m., even though opening times are advertised until 1:00 a.m. Even the first hint of the approaching end of the day (an hour in advance) is extremely unfriendly. What the most hot-headed of colleagues unfortunately generally forgets to mention: The guests should have vacated the inn at least half an hour, preferably a full hour, beforehand.

Charge 5 euros for a beer, but throw the principles of gastronomy overboard straight away? Yes, that is an art in itself. The location? Nice. Rustically furnished, almost a place with potential. But apart from the youngest employee, no one here seems to have really earned the title of “service worker”. We were a large group and had agreed to play cards there comfortably. That's the plan. Four of us arrived early and ordered food - which was then delivered in installments over the next 45 minutes. Not to the guest, but rather thrown into the center of the table, accompanied by the instruction: “Here, please distribute it yourself.” What the heck, we are not made of sugar. Afterwards we at least had a few nice hours in which an extremely hard-working employee looked after us on his own and there were no problems and we were always served quickly. Respect to him! But then came the twist: When the store emptied, the announced and advertised opening times were spontaneously “adjusted” from 1 a.m. to 11 p.m. Of course not quietly or subtly - from 11:30 we were literally being escorted out the door every ten minutes. But it's also cheeky that you first announce the winners of the round and don't queue up to pay in a queue that's over 10 people long. It was about as subtle as a case of beer falling down the stairs. Conclusion: The good cellar beer almost tore it out - almost. But unfortunately the bitter aftertaste remains of an evening that began so warmly and ended so unpleasantly. A cozy shop that is unfortunately run as if it were a hobby project by people who learned gastronomy from YouTube tutorials. Stay away from it folks – there really are better alternatives.

I waited an hour and a half for my 'Geschnetzeltes', a lukewarm cooking cream without spices containing almost raw mushrooms and a few small pieces of meat. Everyone else was already finished. I wanted to go into the kitchen and cook it myself. ??????

Ordered the food at 6:10 p.m. and received it at 7:35 p.m. The dumplings were inedible. The mashed potatoes for my liver (dry as dust) were out of the package. It's a shame to be managed so modestly for so much money. The waiters are overwhelmed and the boss stands with his hands in his pockets and looks smart. Better buy a pretzel, but avoid this place!

I don't agree with some critics' opinions! We recently went to the Fraunhofer with my extended family: I think the prices are ok, the service is great and the food is also very good (even for me as a vegetarian there is enough. It doesn't bother me at all if the individual dishes come to the table a little later, it doesn't matter to me. On the contrary, it could be that the dishes don't come off the assembly line completely pre-prepared but simply take different amounts of time to prepare? And if the other person's dish comes a little later, you have more opportunity and time to try their plates... (although I don't think we had this problem at all) Some of the reviews about Fraunhofer make me wonder whether some people in the "big" Munich are perhaps a bit exaggerated and very spoiled? When we ordered the Kaiserschmarren we were immediately told that it might take a while, but no problem, the better then you have more time to look forward to it! The Kaiserschmarren is absolutely top notch! and the wait was worth it. Above all, I know that the dessert doesn't go quickly from a plastic bag into the pan... Above all, I love the original atmosphere in the Fraunhofer, which is unique in Munich, and as a carpenter from the Allgäu, I of course also appreciate the original, unaffected furnishings from the parquet floor to the stucco ceiling. My two insider tips for businesses in Munich that I often pass on: The Fraunhofer on Fraunhoferstrasse and the Schellingsalon on Schellingstrasse! both great! I think there is one small point that could be improved: if it could be a little warmer in winter when it opens at 5 p.m. On top of that, I also awarded Fraunhofer the Herzkasperorden in gold for special achievements. Classic tavern in the traditional Munich style. One of the few places in Munich that has retained its character over the last 30 years. Classic tavern cuisine with delicious traditional dishes, which also includes more unusual classics such as Gansljung. It's a shame that the food sometimes comes to the table a bit cold. There are also occasional wonderful concerts with tried and tested local bands and musicians. Overall, a jewel in Munich, not least because of the workshop cinema in the backyard.

The toilet was overflowing and when we asked “where we can go to the toilet” there was no real response. That wasn't inviting.

Long-established traditional inn, one of the first after the Fraunhoferstrasse was completed in 1897! The beautiful stucco ceiling and wood paneling have been preserved from this period! Quaint atmosphere! The food is absolutely delicious and the choice of dishes is varied. Meat from organic farmers. Perger natural juices, during Advent a great mulled wine and non-alcoholic punch are served... Sometimes it's a bit too loud for conversation, but the atmosphere is even better! And playing cards is always possible... In the backyard there is a cabaret and a “workshop cinema”. Go and experience - that's all I can say!

A bread dumpling with mushroom sauce for €18. The food was not only overpriced, but also significantly too little and tasteless. I can advise against visiting with a clear conscience. A friend had the Käsespätzle. I can't understand how it is possible that the dish tastes so bad. Above all, the missing fried onions are an absolute disgrace. The good half of the salad was brown and no longer edible, how can you hand out something like that to your visitors.

As a long-time visitor, I am disappointed with Fraunhofer. Unfortunately, the service in the Bavarian cultural inn now leaves a lot to be desired. Overall, the staff seems overwhelmed, the kitchen is slow, and the food doesn't come to the table at the same time. Yesterday we reserved a table for 4 people for a Schafkopf evening. Unfortunately we only got two single tables. The unfriendly head waiter refused our request to change to another table for four with a continuous table surface, saying that if it didn't suit us, we could look for another pub at the Schafkopfen. Bavarian tavern culture only exists here superficially due to the historical ambience.

The atmosphere is nice, but that's about it. Were there at 5:00 p.m., ordered and were then informed that the kitchen doesn't start cooking until around 5:30 p.m. The meals then came at different times, more lukewarm than warm. The Rahmscherl were more of a cream soup with a few mushrooms, the vegan plantlets from the refrigerated shelf have more authentic taste than the Baz at the Fraunhofer. The service was hip and cool - but unfortunately neither really friendly nor attentive. Certainly a nice atmosphere for cultural events - but please change your attitude to the cuisine and the quality.

Underground. Terrible. Hands off. Why not give zero stars? The first visit to Fraunhofer will definitely be the last. Went there with four people a few days ago, as many other reviews have already mentioned: All four dishes came at different times within 40 minutes, of course no longer warm. At first we were horrified by the way the food looked; you wouldn't want to eat it. The worst thing, however, is the incredibly poor quality of all the components: 1st plate: Roast pork, small portion with desired spaetzle instead of potato dumplings and side salad = an ancient, dried-out edge of a roll, the spaetzle, an indefinable white mass. 2nd plate (after 10 minutes): Kässpatzen with a side salad = snow-white mass, carelessly slapped onto the plate, without a single onion. The taste is a mixture of paste with cheap cheese and sour cream to extend the portion. 3rd plate (after 10 minutes): veal liver with apple slices, onions, mashed potatoes. Two apple slices with a thickness of 3 cm placed on two pieces of liver, underneath two onion rings, next to the mashed potatoes. In the slightly recessed plate there was a layer of liquid butter, no sauce - everything was drowned in lukewarm, liquid butter. 4th plate (after 10 minutes): Roast pork, whole portion. A slice of boiled pork, a slice of roast pork that was just as fatty as the rolled pork. The dumpling that came with it couldn't be made small, even with a knife and fork. Everything was rather cold to lukewarm again. The taste is just as bad as the small portion. None of us touched the side salads, as there was a large, round table in the direct entrance area with ten side salads and eight plates of coleslaw, which were then gradually taken from the table by the staff along with the various orders. In total, these plates were left open for a period of almost 2 hours, right in the entrance and exit area, where a lot of people are constantly coming in and out. Hygienically more than questionable. The prices are also outrageous and outrageous: roast pork costs €17.50, the Kässpatzen €14.50, the veal liver €20.60, the small portion of roast pork €12.50. Conclusion: None of the four of us have ever eaten so incredibly badly. Recommendation: Run away when you come near this place.

Für mich als Thailand Rückkehrer ist es ein Schock. Willkommen in Deutschland, hier wirst v. unfähigen Personal angeschrien. Wer auch in stressigen Zeiten das nicht packt und offensichtlich gar keinen Spaß an seinem Job hat, der soll den Job wechseln. Schon das erste Telefonat war im Kommando Stil. Die weiteren Service Kräfte, offenbar Studenten, also auch keine erfahrenen Service Kräfte, sind zwar bemüht, aber hilflos, dürfen nicht mal Rechnungen kassieren. Dafür muss der Gast aufstehen und selber vorgehen, wo dann Trinkgeld aktiv eingefordert wird. Das Essen selbst war alles andere als hervorragend, kam für mehrere Leute an unserem Tisch mit 15 Minuten Unterschied und nicht gleichzeitig für alle. Lauwarm, keine vorgewärmten Teller, ausgedientes Geschirr, in meinem Fall tiefgefrorene Speise, nicht frisch zubereitet. Keine Möglichkeit nochmal was nachzubestellen, niemand kam zum abräumen etc. etc. In Thailand würde es für so eine miese Leistung im TV eine Sondersendung geben... Geld ausgeben und sich ärgern - Nie Wieder!!!!

For me as a returnee from Thailand it is a shock. Welcome to Germany, here you will... Yelled at incompetent staff. If you can't handle it even in stressful times and obviously don't enjoy your job at all, you should change your job. The first phone call was in commando style. The other service staff, apparently students and therefore not experienced service staff, try hard but are helpless and are not even allowed to collect bills. To do this, the guest has to get up and do it themselves, where tips are then actively requested. The food itself was far from outstanding, coming for several people at our table with a 15 minute difference and not at the same time for everyone. Lukewarm, no preheated plates, used dishes, in my case frozen food, not freshly prepared. There was no way to order anything again, no one came to clear away etc. etc. In Thailand there would be a special program on TV for such a lousy performance... Spend money and be annoyed - never again!!!!

Benvenuti all’osteria dove l’atmosfera bavarese si mescola al fascino vintage, con quadri impolverati alle pareti che sembrano raccontare storie di birre sorseggiate e brindisi dal lontano… secolo scorso! Qui lo stile del mobilio ti catapulta indietro nel tempo, in una atmosfera unica ed informale. Le birre di Monaco sono un trionfo, mentre il cibo bavarese… diciamo che è più folklore che favola culinaria. Ma tra un boccale e un altro, vale decisamente la pena fare una sosta!

Every time we go here it's great! Food and atmosphere is always fantastic. The table service was friendly and quick. BUT the person taking our reservation before we arrived was very condescending on the telephone. Don't be rude to your customers!

She's beautiful, but she can't do anything about it... It's physically painful to see such a great ambience with such subpar gastronomic management. HOSPITALITY or shortage of skilled workers. No matter, the good old inn is pushed over the cliff.

Great atmosphere, I really like it as a Prussian. Helles arrived promptly, fresh and at a good temperature. The food came differently, the roast pork was lukewarm, the dumplings were hot and the sauce was delicious. Service was friendly but asking whether the 10% tip should be added directly to the card is simply cheeky! I'm happy to give tip money if everything is right, but I don't like demanding it.

Total flop.....there are no fried onions with the cheese spaetzle (I specifically asked) and there are no fries with the schnitzel (also specifically requested). The food didn't come at the same time. What was worst, however, was the rude waiter, who pointed out to us when we were paying that we could leave a tip, whereupon my companion said there were no fries, which the waiter brushed off with the cheeky answer that he could get his fries elsewhere now fetch. Ergo, everything was done right, if someone gets so cheeky as soon as he doesn't get his way, he doesn't deserve a ct tip...

I was with two friends at the cabaret (great!!) next door, then at the inn, which was packed. Only 2 waitresses! The young waiter did his best. Our food came at the same time, 2 meals were of moderate quality, my Ochsenbackerl was very good! Points deducted because we found the drinks prices to be juicy overall and it's not okay that beer is cheaper than non-alcoholic drinks: Helles €4.90 and non-alcoholic Helles €5.10!!!

Ich war mit 2 Freundinnen am Fr. erst im Kabarett (super!!) nebenan, dann im Wirtshaus beim Essen, brechend voll. Nur 2 Bedienungen! Der junge Ober gab sein Bestes. Unser Essen kam gleichzeitig, doch 2 Essen waren von der Qualität mäßig, meine "Ochsenbackerl" sehr gut! Punkteabzug deshalb, weil wir die Getränkepreise insg saftig fanden und nicht in Ordnung, dass Bier billiger ist als alk.freie Getränke: Helles 4,90€ und alk.freies Helles 5,10€!!!

Rustic Bavarian business was there for the matinee

I was there at around 9pm. Unfortunately, that was too late for the roast pork, which was already sold out. At the waiter's recommendation, we had the goulash. All in all: a long-established restaurant or pub with good food.

Were there as a couple. Waited an hour for the first meal. The second one still wasn't there 20 minutes later. The two of us then ate the now cold first meal. Bad experiences.

We were there spontaneously and ordered two dishes. Unfortunately, both dishes arrived at a completely different time (approx. 15 minutes between them). Even at the next table, where a family was sitting, the first person had long since finished their plate, so the last person got their food. In my opinion, the food was unfortunately rather average, but the prices were still high. Overall we wouldn't come back.

Super delicious traditional Bavarian cuisine. Great atmosphere from the good times. Service very friendly and quick. I'll be back.

The atmosphere of a traditional German restaurant is quite nice. Unfortunatley i coudln't have the dish that i wanted but the food is generally tasty and served quickly. The beer in particular is amazing. However, I will not visit again because of the rude attitude of some of the staff. My card payment was declined once for some unknown reason and he was very upset. I tried again and successfully paid with my card, but he was still upset for some ridiculous reason that I wasted paper. I will not go there again.

A very special atmosphere, you feel like you have been transported back to another, bygone time. Hearty, good food. Great Kaiserschmarrn.

Very unfriendly staff and shouted at me. The food had a waiting time of over 1 hour and 30 minutes. In addition, the food was very overpriced. I will never go here again. That's why 1 star.

Sorry, but we didn't eat that bad during our entire vacation. Three meals all arrived about 10 minutes late. Vegetables more than al dente. Pork cheeks made very sour. Dumplings very dry and hardly any sauce. Baked goods very dry... Spinach dumplings consisted almost entirely of very dry spinach, hardly any butter. Cheese was far dry, under the salamander for far too long. Toilet dirty.

Super unfriendly staff, overwhelmed with everything! After sitting outside for 30 minutes, they came out to tell us that we could no longer be served!

Catastrophic. We sat outside for half an hour before, after asking twice, we were told that there was no capacity left due to two large groups in the indoor room.

Super nice, rustic restaurant with a nice little theater in the courtyard. Prices are very high, everything else is great.

The specially ordered fried potatoes came 5 minutes after the main course and were also only edible with additional pepper and salt... the dressing on the mixed salad was completely tasteless... service was nice and tried hard. Overall disappointing...
