All I can say is... the best pork shoulder ever! The crackling is crispy, the meat is tender and falls off the bone. The dumplings and sauerkraut are perfect, freshly prepared, and the portion is generous. Absolutely recommended!!

We were there today with a party of seven. The service was very attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic. The pork shoulder, cutlet, and head cheese were all excellent. The crackling was perfectly crisp, the cutlet was pan-fried, and the head cheese with fried potatoes was delicious. The dessert was tastefully presented and tasted superb. It was a wonderful evening. Certainly not our last visit to this Franconian inn.

I've been here several times, and every time I have to say, the staff is super friendly, the food is quick and delicious, especially the shoulder of pork and the spicy cordon bleu. The atmosphere is very traditional and pleasant. It's always a pleasure to go there! It's best to call a few days in advance to ensure you get a table, as it can get very busy.

The food is delicious, the service is super friendly, and the entire restaurant is very well-kept. The Cordon Bleu with Camembert and the "Schäufele -Gröstel" (a kind of pork shoulder with a gravy sauce) are my favorite dishes. My husband loves the "Wirtshaus" Schäufele with an extra crust. It's the BEST Schäufele you'll find in Franconia!

Unfortunately, a complete disaster!! We were guests here again yesterday, December 22nd, 2022. What we didn't know was that there had been a change in the owner on December 1st, 2022. Unfortunately, the previously excellent quality has disappeared. The OLD owner had the restaurant for over 30 years, and the bar for the food was very high. Unfortunately, the NEW one can't live up to that standard. The shoulder of pork was tiny, lacking in flavor, and completely overcooked. The dumplings, on the other hand, could have soaked in water longer, and the amount of white bread inside was, in my opinion, too large. My girlfriend and daughter both had a Cordon Bleu that was completely peppered. All in all, I have to say that the usual quality of the food on offer is no longer what it used to be. I think the Franconian specialties will be replaced by gyros and pizza in a few months. So be careful, anyone expecting the usual fare will be bitterly disappointed. Update September 2025: As life always happens, we were guests at the Wirthäusla again at the beginning of August. I have to honestly admit, it couldn't have been better. The dishes we ordered were all excellent and more than filling. The staff are truly super friendly and almost read your wishes from your eyes. My concerns from 2022 regarding the quality and future offerings were unfounded. We were so impressed that we chose the restaurant as the meeting place for our monthly get-together with friends at the beginning of September, and we were not disappointed. We will definitely visit the inn more often in the future, especially since it's right on our way home. Many thanks to the entire team at the Fränkisches Wirtshäusle Nuremberg. Keep up the good work!!

I recently visited Frankisches wirtschauschla and was very pleased with the experience. The place is warm and stylish, with nice music and decoration that creates a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was polite, smiling and eager to serve, without being intrusive. The food exceeded my expectations, it was well-cooked, with fresh ingredients and balanced flavors. The portions were satisfying, and the presentation of the dishes was attentive. The prices are reasonable in relation to the quality. Overall, it is a place worth visiting, whether for a romantic dinner or for a meal with friends. I would definitely recommend it and I plan to visit it again.

I'm torn: On my first visit, I ordered four different Greek spreads/creams as an appetizer (tzatziki, feta cheese, eggplant, and fish cream). Everything was homemade. I had specifically asked for this beforehand because I can eat canned spreads at home for less. But all four tasted super fresh and delicious, with very good white bread. After that, a Schäuferle (a kind of dumpling) with two (small, but still two) potato dumplings and an excellent sauce, with sauerkraut on the side, also very good. The light beer was also nice and drinkable, not industrial mush like Tucher or the like. So, completely satisfied, 5 stars. I also have to mention the incredibly friendly service from the two owners. Great... Second visit was a total disappointment: My mother and I were there, having previously raved about the place. My mother ordered a Wiener Schnitzel and I a pork chop, both with homemade potato salad. Almost forgot: For starters, we ordered the four homemade creams together. They were very good again, only the white bread wasn't nearly as tasty as the first time. But okay.... However, the schnitzel AND pork chop were a bad joke: Both were very thin, especially the schnitzel, about 1 cm thick; my pork chop was a bit thicker, but not thick enough for a pork chop. But both were unfortunately cooked in a deep fryer, and not even well: Too dark, and after taking them out of the fryer, they didn't even let the excessive fat drain off on crepe paper. Conclusion: The meat was dry, the breading was too brown AND too greasy, and it tasted mostly of deep-frying oil. Unfortunately, the homemade potato salad was completely flavorless, lacking any seasoning, and the potatoes themselves tasted like nothing. Overall, I was very negatively surprised that in this restaurant, which has a small menu (which I think is great) and emphasizes that everything is made by hand, the schnitzel and cutlet come out of the deep fryer carelessly greasy and over-fried. In a Franconian restaurant, a deep-fryer schnitzel or cutlet is a mortal sin, and I really can't accept it. Unfortunately, it all reminded me of a highway rest stop. We were both very disappointed, especially me, after the great first impression from the first visit. The service was once again very good, though, and so was the beer. Please don't deep-fry your schnitzels anymore; instead, pan-fry them with clarified butter, as is proper. You can do better, as seen with the Schäuferle (a kind of pork shoulder) and the homemade spreads..... Okay, addendum to the owner's reply: Thanks for the quick reply. Then I certainly believe that you didn't make it in the deep fryer. However, something must have gone wrong with the preparation of the schnitzel or cutlet, since both were uniformly brown and tasted very greasy, unlike the uneven browning of pan-fried meat, and there was no clarified butter flavor. But I'll definitely come back and try the cutlet or a schnitzel again.

Highly recommended! We spontaneously stopped by for lunch today with a group of six. All the Schäuferle (pork shoulder) had an excellent crust, the meat was tender, and the dessert was also lovingly prepared. The service was attentive, helpful, and truly friendly! Perfect place for having dinner. Schaufele was great with a crunchiest skin I‘ve tasted for sometime now. Craving sufficed, food was great-tasting, service was top-notch and no reservation was even placed. Kudos!

When a Franconian says "Bassd scho," he really means "super good." But it's not "super good" here. It's very small and rustic inside, and the beer garden feels like you've landed under a carport. We had Schäuferle (a kind of pork rib) and Franconian bratwurst. The Schäuferle (a kind of pork rib) was mediocre, while the bratwurst with sauerkraut was good but very expensive at €13.00. The service was friendly. So my rating is "Bassd scho." Except in Franconia, where it would be more like "If you don't really have a plan for a really good Schäuferla, you might actually enjoy it. We ate them all up."

Unfortunately the food wasn't entirely convincing... The asparagus soup was good, unfortunately the asparagus dish wasn't that good because the boiled potatoes were cooked hours before serving and the consistency was accordingly, the breaded asparagus with ham and cheese was unfortunately not that well peeled and overall it wasn't that great... the cordon bleu wasn't Nothing intoxicating like the potato salad...some of it was raw potatoes. The service was super friendly and accommodating...the atmosphere was like before...rustic... But the bottom line was that it wasn't enough...a shame

Went past it for 7 years and went there with friends today. Tasty good service but you could get a little more out of the ambience. But that is rather irrelevant! Price is ok.

Service good and friendly. However, I cannot understand the other reviews about the food. Almost every other restaurant in Nuremberg makes better food. The fried potatoes were fried in old fat and the cordon bleu was also very dark and dry.

Great Franconian dishes, the best schnitzels and the best Schäufele far and wide, a large selection of different dishes - all delicacies, and vegetarians are also very well catered for with the finest Greek (starter) dishes, always very nice and courteous service - you feel completely at home in this restaurant, nice ambience, we are always happy to come back.

I've wanted to come here for years and we finally did it. During the week, shortly after opening, and after a short time the dining room was completely full! The guys were very nice, everything was timely and the food was great! The Schäufele (finally one without caraway decoration) is absolutely top - the extra crust just the way I want it: with the taste of roast and not, like in other restaurants, simply popped up blank and tasteless. Dumplings could be bigger, but only because I love them and not because they aren't enough - because they are. The salad was good too. The mixed dessert plate is ideal for sharing, but the best part was the panna cotta. I also had schnitzel to go and that was also very tasty - finally chefs who know what pepper can be used for😅 the potato salad was also great. The price is also in the current average and completely ok for the food. We'll definitely be back!

We recently ate there and really loved it! This is how you imagine a hot, delicious Schäuferle! Mega crispy crust and tender meat that fell off the bone! 10/10 :-) Super nice and accommodating guys. And what I also think is great is the parking situation, you can always find one right in front of it. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back :-) and thank you for the great, delicious dessert!!!

A nice restaurant, but unfortunately without Franconian charm. The furnishings are sober. The service was friendly and fast, but unfortunately not only German is spoken among the employees in the dining room. As a guest you feel a bit uncomfortable. The food, schnitzel, only freshly fried. However, the meat was already pre-produced. We didn't hear any typical knocks coming from the open kitchen. The potato salad could also have used some spices and was rather neutral in taste. But the prices are in the upper segment,... it's a shame. Unfortunately our first and only visit to this location.

Food is very delicious. Me and my family really enjoyed the meal. It was fresh, homemade and tasteful. Our waitress was friendly and open to humor. It's actually very nice outside, but now that's my biggest problem. There is a kind of ant nest on the post and unfortunately a lot of slugs down below. Still worth a visit. I'll be back.

The place is beautiful and super cozy. The waiter's attention was excellent. He was very friendly and made us feel very well taken care of. He made recommendations about the dishes and he was very accurate. I don't like bitter beer and he recommended I try the Weizen Dunkel and it was delicious. The pork knuckle is spectacular! I highly recommend this restaurant.

It's been two months since we ate there, but all I can say is a great meal, great Schäufele, the crust is beautifully crispy and the meat is soft, just as it should be in Franconia Addendum, we were there again on Saturday, but I have to say they were way too expensive. In January 24 the Schäufele with two dumplings was €15.90 and now in April 24 it was €17.50. There are restaurants in Nuremberg that are just as big and good as Schäufele, but much cheaper. A pity

Wow, the small, fine Franconian restaurants still exist. This wonderful restaurant is a bit hidden in the residential area. There is a guest room in the front area and a small side room in the back area. Both rooms are neat and clean. There is a garden in summer. The service was friendly and patient. The food was excellent, large portions, tasty and well prepared. A big compliment for the kitchen. The meat quality is very good, schnitzels are freshly prepared. The Schäufele was buttery soft, the meat almost fell off the bone on its own. The prices are perfectly fine. We can highly recommend this restaurant. We'll be back soon. You shouldn't miss this pleasure.

We have often taken away food from Wirtshäusla and have always been thrilled. True to the name, the menu offers typical Franconian dishes and they taste really delicious. The schnitzels are perfect, the meat is tender and the breading is crispy, the Schäuferla too - the meat falls off the bone and the crust is crispy. But it's not just the food that's great, but also the service. You are always treated very friendly and courteously. When the sauce was forgotten when we picked it up, we were called immediately and the sauce was brought over quickly. Thank you again for that! The prices are appropriate for the quality of the food. We would be happy to come back and highly recommend the Wirtshäusla.
