Quaint, rustic, cozy and delicious food

We came at 7pm without a reservation and they were kind enough to fit us in, asking us to come back at 8pm. It’s a small quaint local restaurant with traditional Franconian food. There are a lot of framed embroidery on all the walls that add to the charm of this local spot. The embroidery framed in front of our table said to eat and drink without worry (trink und iss sorgenvergiss) and we followed the instructions well. We ordered the special oven roast pork with dumplings and red cabbage and somehow had room for apple fritters and warm plums for dessert. The pork was AMAZING - tender, with crispy skin, and the potato dumpling was light and fluffy and the red cabbage was also the perfect complement to the meal. Apple fritters were crispy and chewy and the warm plum was also delish. Our server was very friendly and I would highly recommend this place. Make a reservation in advance if you want to eat immediately 😊

Amazing place. The waiter was very polite and extremely effective. Very friendly, and the quality of food really high. The price is well balanced, and the atmosphere is very cozy. I came with my girlfriend, and we had to share the table with other guests, which it ended up being a marvelous night ahead. In fact these two guests, Bruno and Marco (Brasilians) became good friends of us. Great place, undoublessly. Will definetly come back as soon as I step my feet back in Nurnberg. 👌🏻👌🏻

We ate here with six people. Everyone was absolutely thrilled with the food. It was simply a pleasure. Both the main courses and the desserts. There was a time slot and you have to reserve a table well in advance, but everything was very well organized. The food came quickly and you could then relax and enjoy the fantastic dessert. The service was also outstanding. Friendly, on the ball and had everything under control very well. We definitely have to go back here

I can't find a better place to eat pork shoulder in Nuremberg. Technically, if you open the menu Schäufele will be in Red ♥️ and y can order it easily. I also like horseradish soup 🍲. It's like a Michelin restaurant for Franconia cuisine.

Were invited there for an 80th birthday, and accordingly a lot of people. The food (Schäufele) was really very good, and the staff was consistently friendly, patient and helpful. In our opinion we really recommend it :)

We were very much looking forward to visiting this restaurant, but unfortunately left a bit disappointed. The environment is unique, quaint and generally very nice. The waitress was friendly. Unfortunately, though the food was well presented, we found that it really lacked flavour. We had expected more due to the many wonderful reviews. Maybe we were just unlucky the evening we went there...

Food was excellent and atmosphere perfect for somebody visiting from abroad. We were very late for our reservation and they were very understanding and seated us anyway. The beef roll and pork knuckle were very large and definitely two of the standouts.

My husband and I had pre-booked a table for two people for 8 p.m. When we arrived we were seated at a table that was already occupied by four people. The tablecloth was full of stains. If you had already pre-ordered a table by phone, you should have informed us that there were no two tables left. This evening was actually supposed to be a special evening for my husband and me. It's a place with absolute mass sales.

Mein Mann und ich hatten einen Tisch für 20.00Uhr vorbestellt. Als wir ankamen wurden wir an einen Tisch der schon mit 4 Personen besetzt war dazu gesetzt. Vielleicht sollte man sowas bei einer telefonische Reservierung anmerken. Wir hatten das gefühl das es eine richtige Massen Abfertigung war. Eigentlich hatten mein Mann und ichuns einen besonderen Abend uns gewünscht . Das einzige positive war , es Essen war sehr lecker.

The most delicious Schäufele I have ever eaten. The meat is buttery tender, the rind is very crispy and the sauce is delicately seasoned. They have a good selection of Franconian wines and beer. The restaurant is equipped with copies of Dürer's drawings.

Very tasty food with a rustic and authentic atmosphere. We couldn't find anything comparable in the old town. If you're lucky, you'll get a spot spontaneously, otherwise you should reserve well in advance. In terms of price, the food is unbeatably affordable considering the quality.

Be sure to reserve early! But if you get a seat, you will get your very tasty food within a very short time, which you can enjoy in a cozy atmosphere 😋 Great in terms of taste and price 👍🏼

Locale molto caratteristico con personale abbigliato con costumi tradizionali. Cucina altrettanto tradizionale, ottimi ed abbondanti. In particolare deliziosa la spalla di maiale croccantissima che è il loro piatto forte. Buonissimi anche i kasespatzle e le salsicce di Norimberga. Unico neo l'eccessivo caldo ma la giornata lo era davvero molto. Però abbiamo chiesto di aprire le finestre e non ci è stato negato. Peccato perché volevamo tornarci la sera successiva ma erano chiusi...

Authentic restaurant with a tasteful traditional ambience in a beautiful old half-timbered house, very authentic... Service was friendly and very fast, but we got there early, later it was busy and the shop was full. My Schäufele was tender and almost bone-in + perfect crust. Red cabbage also very good, toilets unspectacular, meat and sauce tasteless. Prices very fair for the location.

Honestly some of the best food in the world. The menu looks simple but the food is not. We've only tried a few dishes but it seems like the type of place where you can't go wrong. Absolutely amazing!

We came here 13 years ago and I remember that this was the best meal of my life so of course, we had to come again! 13 years later, I'm happy to report that the kitchen is still in my top 5 restaurants in the world! It is a must!

Franconian cuisine in the appropriate ambience.

They used to be extremely good, and I was always treated well by one of the older waitresses, especially if I was there with my German husband (although I speak German as well). Meanwhile, today I went there alone without a reservation, which I informed them about upon my entrance. They seated me with a gentleman I did not know, in an almlst completely empty restaurant. When I asked to be seated alone, the young waitress rejected my request even though the restaurant was almost empty and there wasn't any upcoming reservations on the other tables, as the restaurant was about to close in one hour and a half (I went there at 13:30, and the closing time is 15.00). You can clearly see on the pictures I provided that there was almost no one else (except for two other people). The waitress also tried to get me to pay with cash, even though we have always paid by card in this restourant and there never was any problem. Please bear in mind we come here three to four times a year. She did not impose this on her other, German customers and I understand enough German to hear that she accepted their cards with no additional comments. I am not sure why they are trying to get their guests to pay with cash, when the terminal is not broken and when card payments are also possible. I am also failing to understand why they push some customers to pay with cash, while the others are given the option and more than welcome to pay by card. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Nürnberg, but now I would advise against visiting it on Friday afternoons. I am not sure if we will ever come here without checking who exactly is waiting on guests for the day, as I would like to avoid the stress I experienced today. Such a shame, because the food is impeccable, succulent and really authentic.

The Albrecht-Dürer-Stube in the heart of Nuremberg's old town is our absolute heart recommendation: The rustic and cozy ambience of the restaurant immediately creates a feel-good atmosphere. The Franconian dishes are extremely delicious and the generous selection leaves nothing to be desired. The price-performance ratio is also great. We were particularly impressed by the extremely friendly, courteous and attentive waiter Jörg, who gave us a very warm welcome and excellent hospitality. Thanks to him, we will have positive memories of the evening for a long time. We will be back definitely!

Everything is right in this culinary oasis. I was able to enjoy the most delicious Schäufle, a dumpling of the finest quality and red cabbage so well seasoned that I can still rave about it. Pintoresco restaurante de cocina local, con unos precios algo más bajos que la media de la ciudad. Compartimos entre 4 personas salchichas encebolladas, la pasta spätzle con queso, medallones de cerdo en salsa de mostaza y el schäufele, todo muy rico. Con varias rondas de bebida salimos a 25 euros por persona, más que razonable. El camarero que nos atendió en general fue amable, aunque a veces nos daba la impresión de que se reía de nosotros hablando en alemán con unos chicos de la misma mesa. Si no era así lo parecía, por lo que debería tener cuidado con esos detalles.

EVERYTHING is right here! If you want to enjoy Franconian cuisine, you've come to the right place! In the middle of the old town...near the castle! Friendly and quick service, a homely atmosphere, topped with excellent Franconian cuisine. We love Schäufele, which can only be found in Franconia! Large portions at fair prices. Be sure to reserve in good time...Always fully booked. And be careful... don't confuse it with the Albrecht-Dürer-HAUS restaurant. Unfortunately, this is a bit of a letdown... expensive and mediocre food.

Excellent Franconian cuisine in a traditional, ancient ambience. Terrific. The waiters are humorous and courteous. Priced perfectly. Elsewhere you pay more for probably lower quality food. To get to the toilets, a corridor leads over a covered outdoor area. I've never seen it like this before and I found it really refreshing. We will be back definitely.

I tried: - cooked pork shoulder, their specialty (€16.90): exceptional and highly recommended - apple fritters with ice cream (€6.00): good but not exceptional - a 0.4l Pils (€4.20): good for a total of €27.10. The walls of the guest room are decorated all over with Dürer stitches and embroidery - you have to like it. Nevertheless, you sit quite comfortably at large tables; the noise level is kept within limits. Strange visitors were seated at the reserved table - we had imagined it differently. Our food was excellent, our service friendly and always with a suitable saying. We found the prices to be very fair for a restaurant in this location (main course under €20), and the portions are large enough. The toilets are outside, which can get cold...

Very popular and understandably so in view of its excellent food, ambience and value. Essential to book and to be on time and you will be held to your 1.5-hour time slot and expected to share a table with other diners which adds to the overall enjoyment. Portions are hearty, to put it mildly, and the choice and quality are very good. Highly recommended.

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, zunächst möchte ich mich dafür entschuldigen, dass ich 15 Minuten zu spät gekommen bin. Mein Name ist xxxx und ich hatte eine Reservierung für Sonntag, den 31. März um 14 Uhr. Ich war in seiner Straße, als ich von Dürers Hausmuseum herunterkam, und sah den Antiquitätenladen vor seinem Restaurant. Wir waren ab 14:05 Uhr dort und haben dafür gesorgt, dass niemand hereinkam, da wir nicht länger als die 15-Minuten-Höflichkeit aufhalten durften, die die besten Restaurants auf der ganzen Welt als Übung für gute Manieren praktizieren. Was war meine Überraschung, als ich eintrat, als die Kellnerin mir sagte, dass es ihr leid tue, dass es 1416 sei. Ich konnte ihnen nichts schreiben, und ich möchte keine Entschuldigung oder Entschädigung, sondern nur versuchen, ihnen zu helfen, bessere Menschen zu sein meine Meinung. Was sie getan haben, ist nicht getan, es ist unhöflich, und noch weniger, wenn sie sich einem Dienstleistungssektor wie Restaurants widmen.

This is our second visit to this restaurant. The place is really incredibly atmospheric!) We reserved a table in advance) The snacks were delicious. The main dish, to my taste, could have been tasty (the potatoes were as if they were fried yesterday (()). But the main surprise was that the waitress took away a plate with bread (which we DID NOT EAT) that was added to the salad (even without asking our permission) and just moved it to the table of other visitors!!!!! Such behavior is really surprising... But I will not lower the rating of the establishment too much. Because this place is beautiful and the owners are very polite!)

Quaint inn, which unfortunately has given up the claim to offer Franconian cuisine. Schäufele is sold out, the menu is otherwise more tourist-oriented, a lot of turkey, a lot of pork. Red cabbage tasted dominantly of cloves, sauce was relatively tasteless, overall unfortunately completely disappointing compared to previous visits, a real shame.

You won't get a good talk if you don't book! You can't say anything because you didn't make a reservation! You must get up and leave as soon as the staff tells you the time. Because the table was free just before the reservation person arrived. which we can understand But the communication of the male staff here doesn't care about you because you didn't make a reservation! So if you want to eat, just make a reservation. But if you're too lazy to make a reservation, there are tens or hundreds of other shops waiting for you. No need to care. P.S. Delicious, good atmosphere, but lost the feeling 🥹

The food are nice but too too salty. If they can make it less salty will be 4.5/5 The place is very hot , small but cosy.

Strangely enough, there aren't many restaurants that offer Franconian cuisine. This also includes Schäufele. It's comfortable to sit here, even if it's a bit cramped. You can easily enjoy the friendly service of this restaurant within a time window of 2 hours.
