Fontana in Würzburg

Very good food and drinks with sensational service. Many thanks to Habib for the lovely afternoon; he looked after us so well. There were 15 of us and we actually wanted to go to the Ratskeller across the street, but they didn't want to put us together. Habib wasn't a problem; they immediately moved three tables, and the turnover was correspondingly high.

I was at Eiscafé Fontana today – the espresso was great, and my beef fillet with potatoes was absolutely delicious. Service was perfect and very fast, a special thanks to Habib for the great recommendation. Highly recommended!

I've been coming to Wurzburg for 6 years now and I never change my old good friends. A restaurant with top quality food and equally good service. All praise for Habib and Kristina. Be sure to visit this restaurant, it's a recommendation.

Unfortunately, not a good review. Getting disparaging looks because you only order one scoop of ice cream, and then being told "that's not usual" with a reference to the price list (the smallest picture shows three scoops), is definitely inappropriate. That was my last visit there. The ice cream tasted okay.

Cheesecake ice cream is delicious in a different way. The shop is always very busy, but you still get good service and there are plenty of seats.

What a lovely welcome. First the chef, then the incredibly friendly and attentive service. The food was delicious, the portions truly generous. It was also very central. There were three of us, and we were all extremely satisfied.

I can't recommend the "homemade lemonade." A little syrup, ice, and lots of water, plus some garnish. Definitely not worth €5.90. At least they have plastic straws.

Great location, delicious food (both the ice cream specialties and the hot dishes), and the staff are friendly, charming, and cheerful. Even when it's very busy, the atmosphere is always upbeat. I can recommend it to anyone with time. Sometimes you have to wait for a seat, but everything is well-organized. ☺️

We sat at the counter for about 15 minutes and weren't even noticed. There were at least six servers there during that time. Then we just left, like the table before us. What a shame!

Super friendly staff. Delicious ice cream and delicious food. We sat outside, and despite the hustle and bustle, it was really relaxed. We were also seated more in the middle of the outdoor tables, rather than directly on the road leading to the bridge. We even got an extra table because someone else was joining us. Great 👍🏽

Outstanding! The service is attentive and thoughtful. We had a strawberry sundae and an iced coffee. Both were truly exceptionally delicious and arrived super quickly. The pizza was truly unbelievably delicious and fresh, and it also arrived super quickly, even though it was packed on a Saturday lunchtime. It's worth a visit; it was really, really, really good!

Unfortunately, we had a bad experience. There are a few seats, but this evening everything was taken, which isn't a problem. There's a separate queue for those who want to sit down, and they're then assigned a table one by one. However, we did experience two occasions when a group approached the waiters directly and was then seated immediately. We found this unusual and couldn't understand why. It's a real shame.

The food has declined. Something is lacking in terms of taste; it used to be much better, especially the pizzas. The pizza dough was completely flavorless, and there was no salt. Prices have gone up and are overpriced. The spritzer barely had any juice, and charging €5.50 for it is outrageous. The first server, with a Russian (?) accent, was rude. The second server, a younger woman, was very friendly.

At first glance, it looks like an ice cream parlor, but it's also a great Italian restaurant. Great salads! With lots of crispy fried chicken. It was delicious. It was €17.90, but it was a huge portion. The pizzas also looked incredibly delicious. A little patience, and you'll get a table outside, even though it's always very busy. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. Great service. We'd love to come back.

The lemonade consisted entirely of syrup, and they charged €5.90 for it. The pizza tasted only of cheese, and the dough tasted like cardboard. The restrooms had no soap. Unfortunately, I also got a stomach ache afterward.

I haven't had such good pizza in a long time. Top quality and the price-performance ratio is really good here. The ice cream, in particular, has an Italian vibe, and you can tell that everything here is fresh and homemade. Keep it up! We'll definitely be back👍

Very nice service and atmosphere

Somehow the service there is becoming increasingly unfriendly, the quality has also declined, while the prices have increased significantly... somehow you get the feeling that, thanks to the location, it really doesn't matter what you do...

Eis was just okay without surprise. Good location. But the reason for one star is because of the rude and ill-mannered middle-aged lady who served the table and is apparent a racist.

I was there three days in a row and can highly recommend it. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the service was very friendly.

We took a short break from the rain and ordered two coffees at our table. Our children wanted to get ice cream, but were very rudely informed by the employee behind the ice cream counter that orders could only be placed at the table. A friendly employee clarified the situation after we asked and ultimately settled the matter in our favor. The reason: different prices (€2.40 per scoop to eat in, €1.80 per scoop to go). Clear rules are fine 👌 - but unfortunately, the tone of the employee at the ice cream counter was less than inviting.

Lychee ice cream kicked differently

I had a very unpleasant situation today. The man with the thinning hair first reached for the money and then directly into the top of my ice cream cone. He turned away and hid it. When I confronted him, he just kept saying that a piece had broken off and that he had fixed it.

Bruschetta with avocado – delicious! The service is also very good! Always worth a stop! Highly recommended!

Hospitality looks different for us. Basically, our site visit was okay, but nothing special. However, the service didn't make us feel comfortable at all. We were called to a table before the guests in front of us had even gotten up (uncomfortable for them and us). The same thing happened when we wanted to pay. It was clear that the emphasis here was on quantity rather than on politeness and guest satisfaction. We won't come by again in the future. As a tip for tourists: you can get really good ice cream across the street at the D.o.c.; delicious pizza around the corner in an alley at La Piazetta or across the Main Bridge at Osteria Trio.

I usually never write Google reviews. But you have to feel sorry for the employees. Unfriendly and arrogant boss who - to put it mildly - treats not only us but also his own employees badly. Unfortunately, that ruined the entire visit. The location doesn't help either. Ice cream and coffee are by no means worse in surrounding cafés.

You need a little patience until you get a place. The food is super delicious 😋 and the ice cream tastes good. I can only praise the service. Unfortunately it takes a while when the weather is nice. Gladly again in the heart of Würzburg

The ice cream is delicious, as is the food in general, but the male employees are very pushy with young women. Trying sexist jokes, flirting with you incessantly, staring at you. I went to the toilet and an employee ambushed me and waited in front of the toilet to ask me for my number.

Tuna salad was huge, fresh and delicious. Pizzas are also big and good.

About homemade lemonade everything mega good pizza and noodles were also just fantastic delicious large portions still relatively affordable prices. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Worst coffee I've had in years. We ordered two americanos (at EUR 4 each), which were burnt and bitter, totally undrinkable. The waiter was rude and unwelcoming.

Ice cream parlor? More like a restaurant and ice cream parlor - and here you know how to master the balancing act. Both the salads and the ice cream sundaes in summer are legendary.

Our regular restaurant in Würzburg for several years. The salads are simply incomparable. There are no such good salads anywhere. Unfortunately, the prices have risen significantly in the last few years/months and the meat portions/fish portions have become smaller. Still very tasty and definitely recommended.

Delicious food. Not a 0-8-15 Italian. The guest room is cozy but the hallway and stairs need to be prepared

I was just about to pick up a pizza. 3 euros more than on the homepage. The 2025 prices are not yet updated. We have 01/25/25, a topic of 10 minutes to change the prices. I told you straight away at my hotel. ANSWER: Fontana is known for ripping off tourists. Now I'm happy that I saved 15 euros

It was okay. Just ordered something to drink. It probably took 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive. But it was also well attended

A beautiful shop and in a nice location that can offer coffee, food or dessert according to everyone's appetite! The service is fast and with a large dose of courtesy! We had a great time!

Was in the Fontana shortly before closing time and asked for a Coke to go. The waitress said there was only Spezi and Fanta, even though I saw a bottle of Coke in the fridge. As I walked, I heard her offering a coworker a coke. The focus here was clearly on after work, not on customer service. Spezi was in plastic with a best before date of December 31, 2024.

I'm at Fontana every weekend, the salads are very tasty and the employees are all super friendly :)

DANGER! LOOK CAREFULLY when paying by card! I was just given the same amount as a tip for a salad (which is now 18.90) that I picked up, probably in the hope that I wouldn't see it in a hurry! Before that there was the normal amount, then the employee said “Wait a minute”, turned the card reader towards her again and typed something in, and luckily I saw that the amount was twice as high. I grabbed the piece of paper (that she tried to take out of my hand) as proof. Luckily I got the amount refunded in cash because I was attentive and didn't let myself be taken for a ride. Note: The whole thing kept me very busy and I called again to talk to a senior person about it. During the conversation, the employee was very protective and said that everyone makes mistakes sometimes. On the one hand I understand that, but on the other hand I would have paid a lot of money if I hadn't noticed this “mistake”. Of course, it is impossible to say whether it happened intentionally. Unfortunately, I didn't receive a proper apology either. Basically, with such a campaign it would be appropriate to give something “on the house” or to issue a voucher. Instead, I was made to feel guilty on the phone that the employee was “totally exhausted” all evening. It's nice that the management is so committed to its employees, but it's not particularly customer-oriented. Note 2\Reaction to Fontana's answer: My review urges caution after a “mistake” that would have cost me 20 euros if I hadn't noticed it... and as I said, whether it was a mistake or intentional cannot be determined... I'm just describing how it was done. Unfortunately, the way you react to my review only continues how you as a restaurant treat customers who experience something like this at your place. We walked past here at the end of our Würzburg trip and felt like having an ice cream. It was busy and we still managed to get a seat quickly. The ice cream menu was plentiful and we also found ice cream creations that we didn't know yet. This of course arouses curiosity. The staff was busy, but given the amount of customers, it was a bit too thin. You then had to expect short waiting times. Therefore, not a bad word to say about the workforce. The boss from Fontana suddenly showed up. We didn't think that was great because he grabbed a chair and watched what was going on and delegated his employees. Great pizzeria and ice cream parlor. Delicious pizza and ice cream. Very centrally located. It's a little tight upstairs. And therefore a bit loud.

It was okay so far and clean and tidy. But unfortunately the desired and certain something is missing which makes the whole thing nice and you always like to come back. Other restaurants in other countries have that certain something and I don't know why it's not possible to offer such an ambience in Germany.🤫🤫 🙈👍🙏🧚‍♂️

The tastiest ice cream I've eaten in a long time

My girlfriend and I were hungry and spontaneously decided to eat here. We saw a sign that said we should wait and they would lead us to the table. We did this but after several minutes no one could come to us. When a waiter noticed us after a few minutes, he asked if we wanted to sit down. I answered this with yes and then he just said, relatively pissed off, “Then sit down at a free table.” Well, we did it then. After we sat at the table for about 15 minutes, someone came up to us and asked us what we would like. We said that we were new and didn't have a menu yet and would like to take a look first. Not very motivated, the waiter got us the menu and said “I’ll be right back.” Well, we decided and had to wait another 15 to 20 minutes to be served. When the waiter came back to us we ordered normally and each decided on two large salads. When our table was cleared I asked the waiter for the bill and said that we would be happy to pay by card. The waiter came to us and told us the amount and I confirmed and was ready to pay. Then he asked if everything was OK. We said the food was good. He then cheekily asked if we would like to give a tip. I said no and thought that was it. Then in response he said “then there was something you didn’t like”. I just said “I would like to just pay and leave if that’s ok.” Then he held out the card reader to me and I paid the amount without a tip because I didn't think the service was OK at all. The waiter was rude and unreliable. But to be fair, the salads were delicious and that day was a while ago. I was only served by one waiter and not by several so I can't say whether the service is the same for all waiters. But I definitely won't eat there again if I see the waiter because I don't want to be served by him again

The “premium ice cream” doesn’t taste good at all.

I’m just walk in looking for ice cream yet look at the menu found the food I wanna eat. When settle down. The pretty sweet waitress asked us to move further in coz too close to the entrance and cold. Warm my heart ❤️. She recommend us the wine and it’s perfect matching. Keep it up.🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Ice cream was good. Unfortunately, 2÷ change was incorrectly given out by different people in the 15 minutes that evening. Once that happens, you pay more attention and you're fine. But several times in such a short time?! The boss himself was there and didn't even want to listen at first, the change was "it would be back tomorrow" was the saying.

Nice location to watch the city hustle and bustle in peace! Very good cappuccino, friendly staff who are busy! Be sure to take an ice cream with you, one of the best in Würzburg!!!

Super friendly and polite staff; very tasty food (the starters were also very good). Together with the view of the historic town hall and the babbling fountain, it also creates a great ambience. I can only recommend the Fontana!
