Fontana in Würzburg

The perfect place to warm up. Delicious drinks and incredibly friendly service. And if the boss/district manager/whatever would just learn not to lecture his employees in front of everyone, it could be really cozy. We can hear that, by the way—and we disagree. Best regards to the lovely team; we customers liked the decor.

We spontaneously dropped in at Fontana this evening for dessert with a group of nine. Even though we "only" wanted some dessert and a few drinks, they made extra space for us upstairs. We had a first-class dessert and drinks. They even whipped up a vegan option, even though they were out of vegan ice cream: they came up with a creative solution using fresh fruit. Lovely atmosphere, great service, and a delicious dessert. What more could you ask for? ;-)

A very good ice cream parlor without exorbitant prices, despite its touristy location near the Old Main Bridge. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Locals from Würzburg also enjoy eating there, and the food all looked delicious. Highly recommended.

A really great ice cream parlor, right by the old Main bridge. There's none of the tourist trappings you might expect; instead, they serve well-brewed coffee, delicious ice cream, and the wine is a perfect match. The only downside is the slightly long wait, but the staff are incredibly friendly and the prices are reasonable. We'll definitely be back!

We offer our guests fresh and carefully prepared breakfast options daily until 11:30 am and until 12:00 pm on weekends. An ideal place for anyone who values ​​taste, quality, and friendly service.

Highly recommended! The service was well-organized and attentive! They really know how to treat their guests. I picked up pizza prosciutto e funghi, lasagna, penne arrabbiata, and an Italian salad (with house dressing "alla Mamma") on October 19, 2025, after a long drive. After reheating them at home, we were happy and satisfied with these well-packaged meals. Thank you, Fontana! The espresso was also excellent. I had eaten there before during stays in Würzburg and was already impressed by the quality of the fresh salad, the house dressing, and the delicious dessert. This ice cream parlor is actually an Italian restaurant with very good food. I'm looking forward to my next visit to Würzburg.

We passed by here at the end of our Würzburg trip and were craving ice cream. It was busy, but we still got a seat quickly. The ice cream menu was extensive, and we even found some ice cream creations we hadn't heard of before. This naturally piqued our curiosity. The staff was busy, but with the number of customers, they were a bit thinly spread out. So, you had to expect short waits. So, no bad word about the staff. The boss of the Fontana suddenly showed up. We didn't like that so much, because he grabbed a chair, watched the hustle and bustle, and delegated to his employees. The coffee was served in a dirty cup. The toilet was flooded, and you had to climb a staircase to the third floor. The performance urgently needed to be reconsidered.

Fontana had the best salad in town. Unfortunately, it's now overpriced; the arugula is getting more and more and the meat less and less. I think that's a shame, otherwise the service is nice and the atmosphere is cool.

Very good food and drinks with sensational service. Many thanks to Habib for the lovely afternoon; he looked after us so well. There were 15 of us and we actually wanted to go to the Ratskeller across the street, but they didn't want to put us together. Habib wasn't a problem; they immediately moved three tables, and the turnover was correspondingly high.

I was at Eiscafé Fontana today – the espresso was great, and my beef fillet with potatoes was absolutely delicious. Service was perfect and very fast, a special thanks to Habib for the great recommendation. Highly recommended!

A wonderful café; everything is delicious: salad, pizza, coffee, and ice cream. The location is excellent and the service is good. Unfortunately, not a good review. Getting disparaging looks because you only order one scoop of ice cream, and then being told "that's not usual" with a reference to the price list (the smallest picture shows three scoops), is definitely inappropriate. That was my last visit there. The ice cream tasted okay.

Cheesecake ice cream is delicious in a different way. The shop is always very busy, but you still get good service and there are plenty of seats.

Unfortunately, we had a bad experience. There are a few seats, but this evening everything was taken, which isn't a problem. There's a separate queue for those who want to sit down, and they're then assigned a table one by one. The lemonade consisted entirely of syrup, and they charged €5.90 for it. The pizza tasted only of cheese, and the dough tasted like cardboard. The restrooms had no soap. Unfortunately, I also got a stomach ache afterward.

Eis was just okay without surprise. Good location. But the reason for one star is because of the rude and ill-mannered middle-aged lady who served the table and is apparent a racist.

I was there three days in a row and can highly recommend it. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the service was very friendly.

We took a short break from the rain and ordered two coffees at our table. Our children wanted to get ice cream, but were very rudely informed by the employee behind the ice cream counter that orders could only be placed at the table. A friendly employee clarified the situation after we asked and ultimately settled the matter in our favor. The reason: different prices (€2.40 per scoop to eat in, €1.80 per scoop to go). Clear rules are fine 👌 - but unfortunately, the tone of the employee at the ice cream counter was less than inviting.

Lychee ice cream kicked differently

I had a very unpleasant situation today. The man with the thinning hair first reached for the money and then directly into the top of my ice cream cone. He turned away and hid it. When I confronted him, he just kept saying that a piece had broken off and that he had fixed it.

Hospitality looks different for us. Basically, our site visit was okay, but nothing special. However, the service didn't make us feel comfortable at all. We were called to a table before the guests in front of us had even gotten up (uncomfortable for them and us). The same thing happened when we wanted to pay. It was clear that the emphasis here was on quantity rather than on politeness and guest satisfaction. We won't come by again in the future. As a tip for tourists: you can get really good ice cream across the street at the D.o.c.; delicious pizza around the corner in an alley at La Piazetta or across the Main Bridge at Osteria Trio.

About homemade lemonade everything mega good pizza and noodles were also just fantastic delicious large portions still relatively affordable prices. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Our regular restaurant in Würzburg for several years. The salads are simply incomparable. There are no such good salads anywhere. Unfortunately, the prices have risen significantly in the last few years/months and the meat portions/fish portions have become smaller. Still very tasty and definitely recommended.
