Fontana in Würzburg

It was okay so far and clean and tidy. But unfortunately the desired and certain something is missing which makes the whole thing nice and you always like to come back. Other restaurants in other countries have that certain something and I don't know why it's not possible to offer such an ambience in Germany.🤫🤫 🙈👍🙏🧚‍♂️

The tastiest ice cream I've eaten in a long time

My girlfriend and I were hungry and spontaneously decided to eat here. We saw a sign that said we should wait and they would lead us to the table. We did this but after several minutes no one could come to us. When a waiter noticed us after a few minutes, he asked if we wanted to sit down. I answered this with yes and then he just said, relatively pissed off, “Then sit down at a free table.” Well, we did it then. After we sat at the table for about 15 minutes, someone came up to us and asked us what we would like. We said that we were new and didn't have a menu yet and would like to take a look first. Not very motivated, the waiter got us the menu and said “I’ll be right back.” Well, we decided and had to wait another 15 to 20 minutes to be served. When the waiter came back to us we ordered normally and each decided on two large salads. When our table was cleared I asked the waiter for the bill and said that we would be happy to pay by card. The waiter came to us and told us the amount and I confirmed and was ready to pay. Then he asked if everything was OK. We said the food was good. He then cheekily asked if we would like to give a tip. I said no and thought that was it. Then in response he said “then there was something you didn’t like”. I just said “I would like to just pay and leave if that’s ok.” Then he held out the card reader to me and I paid the amount without a tip because I didn't think the service was OK at all. The waiter was rude and unreliable. But to be fair, the salads were delicious and that day was a while ago. I was only served by one waiter and not by several so I can't say whether the service is the same for all waiters. But I definitely won't eat there again if I see the waiter because I don't want to be served by him again

The “premium ice cream” doesn’t taste good at all.

I’m just walk in looking for ice cream yet look at the menu found the food I wanna eat. When settle down. The pretty sweet waitress asked us to move further in coz too close to the entrance and cold. Warm my heart ❤️. She recommend us the wine and it’s perfect matching. Keep it up.🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Ice cream was good. Unfortunately, 2÷ change was incorrectly given out by different people in the 15 minutes that evening. Once that happens, you pay more attention and you're fine. But several times in such a short time?! The boss himself was there and didn't even want to listen at first, the change was "it would be back tomorrow" was the saying.

Nice location to watch the city hustle and bustle in peace! Very good cappuccino, friendly staff who are busy! Be sure to take an ice cream with you, one of the best in Würzburg!!!

Super friendly and polite staff; very tasty food (the starters were also very good). Together with the view of the historic town hall and the babbling fountain, it also creates a great ambience. I can only recommend the Fontana!

Very good ice cream. Especially the premium varieties

Unfortunately the staff didn't know what an iced coffee or fredo/frappo was I was offered ice cream scoops with coffee and animal milk. I then described my drink, they didn't know any better... It wasn't tasty. I thought it was an Italian restaurant or at least Italian ice cream and then there should also be a Fredo. Here are a few photos for the barista. The food is delicious, the atmosphere (especially in summer) is great and the ice cream, especially the chocolate ice cream, is probably the best in town. Unfortunately the service is far below the level of the food. You can find a certain blaséness in some Italian places, but this very condescending, arrogant manner and the disregard for a friendly greeting guest, especially at the ice cream counter, is quite extraordinary. The Fontana is certainly a well-run shop that has earned a certain self-confidence through its food, but the way it treats guests should be reconsidered and brought into line with the overall standard.

I ate the Insalata Verdure yesterday and got food poisoning! Some of my friends confirmed that they have often felt nauseous after eating salad. I won't be ordering anything else here apart from the ice cream.

Small Italian restaurant right on the Wöhrl. There is ice cream here - very good and Italian food - most of it tastes good. Staff mostly attentive.

Service was catastrophic, we had to ask four times whether we could order something, until the order was reluctantly taken at some point. Food was good, but now also very expensive. Never again!

We spontaneously dropped by on the holiday evening without a reservation. Yes, there is just a sign saying: please wait. We place you. When you wait there you feel a bit lost, but that's not really a bad thing. The waiter then waves you over to a free seat, so of course you have to make sure that you don't get passed over if you've been waiting longer than others. But when you have a seat, the waiter is typically Franconian or perhaps Italian, not very taciturn and direct, but we found that rather pleasant. We felt well served and the food was so tasty that at first impression you might think it was a tourist trap :D. All of this at really reasonable prices, especially for the location and Würzburg, if you look at the map of the other competing companies. So what more could you want? Good food at good prices in a nice atmosphere in front of the old Würzburg town hall.

Yesterday was amazing. The outside area was completely full. We then saw that a couple at a table was finished and we asked if the table would be free. This was confirmed and while the lady went to the toilet again, we asked her companion to sit down at the table. Then a waiter came and said we had to go to the front of a list. We didn't even realize that there was something to line up and wait for and so we were turned away from the table and 2 other guests got the table. I've never experienced anything like this before, especially since the guy wasn't really friendly either. Actually, you should avoid such a juice shop. My regular Pizzeria Aquilia on Mainaustraße is something completely different and you can also make reservations for outside. So I won't go there anymore for now. That was really annoying.

Delicious, reasonable prices and friendly service staff, the only criticism was the slow processing of orders, but you just have to plan for that.

The ice cream was delicious, but the price was a joke. Consumed 2x 2 scoops of ice cream on site and paid €9.60.

The food was actually always delicious. Unfortunately, that didn't happen in the end. If you arrive when it's a little more crowded, you'll be greeted by a sign: Please wait, we'll seat you. Unfortunately we stood there in the sun for almost 15 minutes and were skillfully ignored by the service. No hello, no information that it would take a while, not even eye contact. I find that very disgraceful. We then preferred to go somewhere else.

Definitely the best salads in Würzburg, the other dishes and ice cream sundaes are also excellent. Great location and nice service.

The food itself was good. We had an iced coffee each and some water. But we had to wait a very long time to 1. order, then get the food, and then to pay. Also, the waiter was very unfriendly. We had to ask multiple times to order, and other tables that came after us got their food way earlier. So, food was good - service needs improvement!

No card payment at the ice cream counter (taxes?). Salad seemed to be packaged goods, the atmosphere was simply loud and busy. Seems to be aimed primarily at tourists who won't be coming back anyway. Whoever likes it...

I can't say anything about the food because it didn't get that far. It was busy, but after half an hour we hadn't even ordered the drinks. It's just a huge mass production.

We were eating and sat upstairs. Very nicely decorated and very friendly staff. Pizza and pasta were very tasty. Price performance is reasonable. The Fontana is located directly on the old Main bridge. From the bridge you have a great view of the Marienberg Fortress. In front of the Fontana is the four-tube fountain from the 18th century.

I often go to Fontana! Salad is excellent, and the pizza is, in my opinion, the best in Würzburg! The lady in service is always very friendly and has everything under control even when we are stressed! A visit to Fontana is always worth it! But please not all at once! I also want a cookie!😃

Everything was super delicious!

For being in Wurzburg the food is quite good, the pasta is a little overcooked but the seasonings are appropriate. I am. Came back after three months and can confirm. I would add that the boys are polite and kind.

We've been there several times. The waiters were now even more rude, ignoring us the whole time. We didn't feel comfortable at all. Instead of the second order of 3x coffee and 4x ice cream from the menu, they brought us the bill! It's a shame when the food is so good We won't come here again.

Fontana is my favorite ice cream shop in the city. It has very delicious ice cream. The atmosphere unfortunately is not the best, the tables outside plus the people crowded together to buy an ice cream are a bad combo. The service unfortunately , is not good. they take a long time to serve you, they are not friendly, and they always complain about people waiting to buy ice cream. Some are quite rude... Which is sad, because, it's such a good place to have a drink or eat something. The food is plentiful and good. My recommendation is to go and be patient. And enjoy the ice cream ❤️

Yesterday I and my family were there and an employee was very bad with us, she drove us away because I was wearing a headscarf. She says unfortunately I can't move and they are too much, really she was disrespectful. I'll never come there. I'll be minus 10 or more if that's possible.

We came here for ice cream. We had already tried two other ice cream parlors nearby during the day and were hoping for better ice cream at Fontana. And I got the best cookie sundae ever! Instead of mixed ice cream = mixed ice cream balls, I asked for hazelnut ice cream balls in a cookie cup. That was absolutely no problem and I received a super delicious sundae. With hazelnut ice cream, solid cream, chocolate and caramel sauce and cookies with waffles on top. Mmmmm…

As a Würzburger, I can only warmly recommend Fontana. Value for money is simply great. The food not only looks delicious, but it also tastes very tasty and fresh. The staff always remains friendly even in stressful situations. Keep it up. I always enjoy coming to you!

Very, very tasty food, were proppensat. I have said to my husband several times that the price for this really huge normal pizza is far too little, given its size. The taste is simply great. It's a shame that the construction site next to it spoils the ambience a bit, but hopefully that will be gone on our next visit. All in all, great, staff very friendly, food just great, what more could you want 💗

I went to Fontana for coffee yesterday. The service is super nice and forthcoming. The coffee is strong and aromatic as it should be. According to my friend, the ice cream was the best she had eaten in a long time.

Addendum to your absolutely dishonest answer: The olives that were arranged on the antipasti plate (approx. 5-6) were missing from the to-go packaging - end of story! It was simply NOT packed!!! The 2 olives that were eaten - the pits ended up in the packaging. WE saw them with our own eyes! Also end of story! Salt and pepper couldn't be found at the tables next to us either - WHY WE ASKED FOR IT!!! It's very unfortunate how resistant you are to criticism. YOU are the reason we should keep collecting more photo evidence. Shame on you for the outright lie answer - I can't see it, but from the sounds of you, you don't even blush when you lie 😒 And if you read your responses to other reviews, then we are not the only dissatisfied guests - with pretty much the same or similar issues. They also serve locals and not just tourists, who don't care if they come back at some point. I don't want to eat here anymore!! Your stomach shouldn't be sensitive here!! We ordered antipasti caprese and calzone. The question about balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper was answered, but it never arrived at our table. The broth ran out of my calzone when I cut it, causing the dough to become mushy. My companion's Caprese salad remained unseasoned and so we had the rest packed up. When we got home, we noticed that you had taken the remaining olives from the plate, which you then put on another guest's plate at some point. But you threw the 2 pits from the olives you had already eaten into the to-go packaging. Well then - that wasn't very appetizing. You did a better job of it. It's a shame, but we won't come back.

I can recommend the Fontana with a clear conscience!!!! The variety of dishes on offer cannot be topped! Simply always delicious...

We had a late night snack. Food was good. What stood out was the service and staff. Super friendly making you feel welcome.

Unfortunately, the ice cream here tastes a little of artificial flavours & is not the good quality one would expect considering its location. In addition, the service was unfriendly.

Super delicious food 😋 and nice service

The service was good despite the crowds! Unfortunately we were disappointed with some of the ice cream flavors: Mango was good. Stracciatella was disappointing in taste, chocolate and milk were difficult to distinguish. Amalfi lime was good in terms of its slightly watery consistency, but the taste had nothing to do with natural lemon. Blood orange was also suitable in terms of consistency, but it didn't taste like orange at all, but like orange effervescent tablets, completely wrong. It's a shame, but there's room for improvement.

Despite having a reservation, we waited an hour for our ice cream. The order was taken twice and the third time we asked, no one still knew what we had ordered. When we left, the blonde supervisor also became unfriendly to top it all off. Absolutely unprofessional!

A great restaurant in the heart of Würzburg! Mega delicious food, delicious ice cream, cool drinks and great service! Absolutely recommended when visiting Würzburg! The great price-performance ratio is particularly worth highlighting!

As a Würzburger, I always find the Fontana very tasty. The dishes are decent portions. You often have to look for vegetables, fish or meat in pasta dishes, but that's not the case with Fontana. The salads are amazing and I can highly recommend the fish dishes.

Unfriendly waiter. Instead of asking if we would like to order something, we were informed that ice cream in the cone was not allowed to be consumed at the table. Since we didn't know beforehand (very crowded place) that the shaded areas in front of the Commerzbank also belong to the restaurant and not just the sunny areas in front of the ice cream dispenser, we got ice cream in a cone. Before that I sat alone at the table for 5 minutes without a waiter coming. We would have liked to eat and drink there too, but not if we were uninvited guests. We would have been very happy with a friendly “Hello, would you like to have the menu and eat something else?”

Great service, delicious dishes that were served quickly. We have been happy guests here for several years now. Nice ambience, delicious food in above-average portions and therefore quite fair prices. The staff is very attentive and courteous and leaves nothing to be desired. There were three of us here yesterday and we were very satisfied. Our service person (Angelo) gave us a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Whether it was the greeting, the taking of the jackets, the recommendation of the delicious dishes such as the choice of dessert, we felt very comfortable and well looked after throughout the entire evening. We therefore definitely recommend the Fontana at the four-tube fountain. All 5 stars ;)

We are regulars there and for good reason. Very tasty ice cream, very tasty food, large, colorful sundaes for comparatively little money. All in all, a very diverse selection with friendly service.

Great ice cream and good coffee

I have known the Fontana for over 20 years and always enjoy going there. If I can say one thing, it is that both the quality and the size of the portions have never changed. Here you get the best price-performance ratio. There's really something on your plate! There are overwhelmingly good standard dishes, delicious pasta, huge pizzas and salads that look like a tower on the plate. Anyone who leaves here hungry has their own problem. We are also happy to accommodate special requests and if you reveal when making a reservation that you would like to have a birthday or a private celebration, the tables will be beautifully decorated. The menu features solid Mediterranean standards and, recently, exceptionally good items from Turkish cuisine. As I said. We have been guests here for 20 years and have never been disappointed. I can recommend it to everyone.

Excellent quality food, we had the grilled meats including lamb, chicken and veal along with some side dishes. All cooked very well. Great service as well, highly recommended

After 10 minutes we still hadn't been served... then had to ask for the card... 10 minutes later we still hadn't been served... we left again after 25 minutes. Completely overwhelmed staff with no overview. Intrusive guests have been served. Unfortunately we don't.

Four of us had dinner at Fontana and had a great evening. Starting with the selection of recommendations on the weekly menu, the wine recommendations from the service and the unusual meze (starters). We were treated very attentively and would be happy to come back. Here you can get dishes that are not available in Würzburg. Everything was freshly prepared and tasted great. Full recommendation from us for the food, service and location!

We don't want to complain about melted ice cream, we didn't get any. We were sitting on the first floor and we ordered other things, but when we wanted to order an ice cream sundae, they said there was no more ice cream, even though there was a lot of ice cream being sold down in the queue. The service from the blonde waitress was subpar.

Das letzte Abenteuer Würzburg!! Das Fontana ( am Vierröhrenbrunnen - welch Überraschung!) Zuvor: ich mag den Laden. Esse und trinke gerne dort. Nur: zur Pasta, muss man das Brot grundsätzlich extra bestellen. Und es ist nicht sicher, dass es auch zur Pasta kommt. Letztes Mal kam es prompt als ich fertig mit essen war. Gestern Rotwein und Brot bestellt. Brot kam nicht und kam nicht.Glas leer. Essen gegessen. Kein Brot! Es kommt sogar vor,dass das Essen vor den Getränken(!!) kommt! Und: gerne wirst du auch mitten im Essen versetzt. Wirst du allerdings von der blonden (kenne ihren Namen nicht), Jungen Dame bedient, die kein Hungerhaken ist und ca 1.74 bis 1.77 groß ist; dann läuft der Service - perfekt. Klauspeter, der mit Hut und trockenen Rotwein

Wir wollten den Nachmittag bei Café und anderen leckeren Speisen ausklingen lassen. Restaurant ist sehr gut besucht, Wartezeit einrechnen oder reservieren . Freundliches,hilfsbereites Personal und schmackhafte Speisen. Eine Eiskarte stand auch außerhalb der Saison zur Verfügung. Gerne wieder,vielen Dank.👍

Das Fontana liegt Zentral und man wird gleich sehr freundlich empfangen! Der Service ist auch super freundlich und alles schmeckt sehr lecker... Egal ob Pizza, Café oder Eis!!! Gerne wieder...

Habe bis jetzt kein Eisladen gefunden der besseres Eis macht! Nicht mal in Italien! Jede Sorte ist einfach ein Genuss. Ist zwar meistens ziemlich voll, was aber verständlich ist bei der Auswahl an Eisbechern und Eissorten. Auch andere Snacks sind einfach köstlich! Absoluter Favourite.
