Bürgerspital-Weinstuben in Würzburg

We went there twice in the short time of our vacation because we liked it. You can drink a glass of wine in a quiet atmosphere and choose something tasty from various small items even if you are a little hungry. The service team is very friendly and knowledgeable and the quality of food and drink is excellent. We will definitely come back again the next time we visit Würzburg!

The food and service were first class. Over time it got a bit noisy because our restaurant was in a long “hose”. But the food is really diverse and looks good.

The Bürgerspital-Weinstuben is a culinary highlight in Würzburg. Here you can experience what culinary art means. From the tasty beef bouillon to the perfect pink saddle of venison to the wonderful crème brûleé, the evening was a dream. The rump steak with pepper cream is also a feast. It was a celebration to be here.

We had class reunions, the service was very good, the food was very well prepared and tasted well rounded. A majority of us were there all day. The service was very friendly and accommodating.

We were in Würzburg for my birthday and ate Bürgerspital in the evening. It was a really nice evening. Although it was quite crowded that evening, we didn't find it too loud. The ambience is great. Our service was very friendly and attentive. And the food was super delicious. If we come to Würzburg again, we would be happy to visit the Bürgerspital again. Thank you for the lovely evening. Definitely try Schäufele. It tasted really good. The service was very friendly and quick. Unfortunately a bit overpriced. Would still recommend it as the ambience was nice too.

We had booked a table for 8 people on Saturday evening. It was quite loud in the back area. The food was good but the price/performance ratio wasn't right for some dishes. I had the cheese plate for €20 and was very disappointed. 4 slices of bread, 8 slices of cheese and packed butter from the hotel buffet. Definitely too expensive.

Some of the best food I ever ate. All the dishes we tried (half of the menu) were flawless. Highly recommended. To make the most of it, you might want to be starving before as their portions are huge.

Cozy place! Traditional Franconian cuisine cooked to a high standard. Very attentive service despite high occupancy. Food is at the table quickly. Excellent wine selection of our own wines (no wines from other wineries on the menu, which is a coherent concept for the restaurant!) also by the glass up to the Erste Lage at fair prices. Price - performance fits. Cuisine at "Bib Gourmond" level, but in a traditional way without any forced modern elements. (Which wouldn't suit the restaurant either. Good children's menu (not just schnitzel with fries!)

The restaurant thrives on tradition and fame. We weren't so happy yesterday. Food overpriced, nicely presented but at the level of a cafeteria. Drinks and selection as well as service are good.

We were shamelessly removed from the entrance area (!!) by the employees because a large group came for an aperitif. Never again!

A really good restaurant with excellent food and matching drinks (wine). The service was courteous and on point, which made you feel safe. At the same time, the bar invites you to relax for a few hours. A very good recommendation where the money invested is well spent.

A very large, rustic restaurant with a large outdoor area, wheelchair accessible. Neat and clean. The food was fantastic. However, the service was a bit snippy - not everyone is born with friendliness. Price performance, a little higher, but still ok. Would still recommend it.

Very large store, well organized in service. Plenty of food and large portions of average quality (dessert variation even excellent). But unfortunately extremely loud, difficult to have a conversation.

I was a guest there for the fourth time in four years. We were always there with a larger group. Everything was always completely satisfactory. Nice service and good food. Drinks anyway. I can recommend it and come back again.

Update: especially in “Corona times” in summer, the inner courtyard is probably one of the most beautiful options for fine dining in the city center. still highly recommended.

I had reserved a table for two and would have really liked to choose the menu. I then decided against it because, firstly, the water glasses seemed very unclean, were damaged and therefore had to be complained about. And secondly, the space at a mini table wasn't really comfortable. It was very loud, you were sitting in the middle of the room and the staff was constantly darting back and forth. In addition, the table edges were so rough that I kept getting stuck on them. There are definitely nice places in the Bürgerspital. The food tasted quite good, even if I was wondering how it could be that the saddle of venison was served after less than 15 minutes. The place was full. I would go there again for a good pint and a snack. If I wanted to eat well, I would probably choose a different restaurant next time. It's a shame, because €130 isn't that little for two people.

Rather disappointing. The Wiener Schnitzel was probably fried, the fried potatoes next to it were probably a convenience product.

Busy restaurant that serves good hearty German food. I had a pork shoulder that left me with a padel sized shoulder racket after I demolished the meat and crackling. Family friendly and had a local feel to the clientele. The restaurant has a good sound dampening system so noise doesn't reverberate and it's not too loud. It's very easy to sit and talk with the people at your table.

Way too much fat. French fries fat, schnitzel drenched in fat. Soup with cream, not necessary at all. Really bad food. Shame!

Very good Schäufele at a very high price. Zander was good, the rice porridge wasn't good at all. Unfortunately the waiter was a bit arrogant. Which is why I'm not going there anymore. I think 0.2 cola costs €3.80 to be absurd.

Definitely worth a visit!!! We had a cellar tour from a super friendly man, all questions were answered and the tour was interesting and entertaining! Afterwards we had dinner together. Highly recommend the beef steak in pepper sauce, perfectly cooked, juicy and beautifully presented. Starters were also very tasty. Price/performance ratio definitely suitable. The service was across the board very friendly, attentive and in a good mood. The atmosphere is also very inviting and the toilets are very modern and clean!

Basically, the visit to the Bürgerspital was fine. We had veal Wiener Schnitzel, which tasted good. The service was very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, the prices have gone up enormously and the fact that a Wienerschnitzel costs almost €27 and the small side salad also costs €5.50 is not appropriate. Even a small, 0.2 liter Diet Coke for 3.50 is simply too expensive. Mixed juice spritzers are not offered at all, but are instead referred to overpriced organic lemonades. A generally nice little gift was dessert on the house because it was a wedding anniversary. The dessert plate that was brought to the table with all the fuss turned out to be a 3 cm square cake with a few berries for two people. If I save on what is actually a nice gesture when it comes to prices, then you can actually leave it alone.

Wir waren nach einem Stadtbummel mal wieder im Bürgerspital und waren nicht sehr angetan. Das Ambiente im Restaurant schön und fränkisch gediegen. Der Service freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Speisen aber nur Durchschnitt. Egal ob die Pfifferlingsrahmsuppe, oder der Burger, oder das Wienerschnitzel, ...keines der Gerichte konnte überzeugen. Alles ohne Pfiff und Phantasie. Lediglich der Ortswein Silvaner war tipptopp und richtig gut. Die Preise auf der Speisekarte im öberen Bereich. Preisleistungsverhältnis hat bei uns nicht gepasst. Diesmal keine Empfehlung.

We were a group of around 40 people and received excellent service. The food was very good and the atmosphere was very cozy despite the large number of visitors.

You can eat sausage and mash here, but you shouldn't. We took the 3-course menu with matching wines (€80) and that was a very good decision! Delicious food and drinks! Also available in 4 courses.

There really is still good old German cuisine here. Regional dishes and good wine. The outside area is unbeatable.

There is a clear 5-star Dwaynson recommendation here! The ambience was modern and rustic at the same time, the food was very tasty, the wine tasting gave a great overview, but above all the absolutely friendly and authentic service (thanks, Anastasia). We'd love to come back. :)

Tra tutti i ristoranti in cui siamo stati, in quasi 15 giorni di permanenza nella Germania occidentale, questo risulta uno dei migliori, sia per location stilosa (inusuale per i ristoranti tedeschi), sia per i piatti tipici rivisitati con cura. Anche il rapporto qualità/prezzi è favorevole. Non abbiamo pagato di più che in altri mediocri ristoranti. Abbiamo gustato ottimi piatti di carne abbondanti) con contorno. Nulla da eccepire. Cinque stelle meritate.

There is a large beer garden hidden in the backyard. Nicely lit. Despite there being a lot going on, the service was quick and the food was really tasty. I had the lemon bakery. That was very tasty. Unfortunately I was missing a bit of the lemony flavor. The portion was sufficient.

There is much better and cheaper food with more pleasant service. Group with over 45 people: Some food was taken incorrectly and only served when others were already finished, plates were not cleared even though there were more than 3 waitresses + management at the tables, annoyed service, no clear table responsibilities. Food was average okay.

Super Ambiente im Innenhof , Service top , sehr aufmerksam. Kleiner Fehler im Service da Wein zur Vorspeise vor Apperitiv serviert wurde und durch Aussentemperatur warm wurde, ist ohne Probleme bei Reklamation ersetzt worden. Sehr leckeres Essen

My wife (née Würzburger) and I were there for our first wedding anniversary. I'll put it this way. My wife regrets that she only came here for the first time. Yes, the food is a bit more expensive, but we were aware of that. After all, it's super tasty and you're treated really well as a guest here. Thanks also to our waiter Mirco, who was super friendly and made the evening special (the other waiters were very nice!) We definitely come here more often now.

After a nice tour we ended up in a beautiful backyard. Despite reservations, the table was not prepared for several people. The service was also ok for the standard and prices expected here. After complaining about super hard veal cakes and ordering the food again, with the option that schnitzel would also work, a schnitzel was served, with the reason that it would take longer to serve the cakes again. Disappointing. The taste was still good. The cappuccino that followed did not meet the expectations of the ambience and the prices, where I expected a portafilter cappuccino.

Nice place with a large terrace. Decent food. Unfortunately the service was very slow and the waiter was not attentive (we had to remind him several times what we had asked because he had forgotten).

My husband and I went to the Bürgerspital for dinner for the first time this week. It was simply an experience! The atmosphere is beautiful, the service was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. We had the liver dumpling soup and I have to say, I can't remember the last time I had such a good one. Most clear soups are “oversalted”, at least for my taste. This one was so good and so was the dumpling! For the main course we had Wiener Schnitzel with roasted potatoes and a salad. Everything was just right! The meat, the breading, the roasted potatoes and I was particularly pleased that the salad dressing wasn't overpoweringly sweet, as is often the case in Lower Franconian cuisine - again for my taste :). The espresso macchiato gets a quarter star deduction. This one could have been stronger. Otherwise, my husband and I felt comfortable and everything was fine. We'll be back soon! And thank you for maintaining good German cuisine in such a beautiful atmosphere!

Wir wollten am Feiertag um 22.00 Uhr noch mit der Familie gemütlich einen Schoppen trinken. Anstelle einer Begrüßung erhielten wir die Ansage: Die Küche ist aber schon zu. Wir haben dann dennoch Platz genommen, um sofort wieder weg gescheucht zu werden: Dieser Tisch ist schon sauber, wir sollten an einen anderen. Brav haben wir uns dann an einen 'schmutzigen' Tisch gesetzt, was der Kellner kurz darauf mit den Worten kommentierte: in 10 Minuten letzte Bestellung. Der Wein kam, und weitere 10 Minuten später wieder der Kellner, mit der Aufforderung, er müsste jetzt abkassieren, damit der Chef seine Büroarbeiten machen kann. Besser kann man Gäste nicht vergraulen, nie wieder Bürgerspital!

Great atmosphere, delicious food, generous portions and nice presentation. Servers were nice and able to communicate in English. English menu available. Service was a bit slow in the end, but the AC inside made the waiting worth it. Great location too, close to tourist attractions. It had an accessibility ramp for prams or wheelchairs. It had outside seating, but I didn't use it so I can't quite comment on it.

Very nice. From the outside you cannot see the large interior patio they have. There is no better place to dine outdoors in the summer.

Tolles Erlebnis! Wir haben auch spontan ohne Reservierung einen schönen Platz im schattigen Innenhof bekommen. Das Essen war sehr gut. Begleitend zum Essen haben wir eine kleine Weinprobe gemacht und wurden vom Servicepersonal super beraten. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

We were 3 people for lunch. The food and staff was fine. But we were disturbed by noise from nearby construction work Witherspoon an air hammer.

The service and food were not in proportion to the cost. My food came late, even though it was a cold dish, all 5 other people had already almost eaten. No salt on the table. Pepper mill defective. Service staff was not available until everyone had finished eating. When I asked if they could bring me salt and pepper, the mill was also explained to me, even though the first one actually didn't work. Really annoying for the price.

I was there for a small dinner and a tasting of three wines. Two of them were an excellent Silvaner from Muschelkalk from 2022, and a 2022 red “Blaufränkisch” (Lemberger) made brilliantly in wooden barrels. The meal “bellied noodles with a light Silvaner sauce” from the winery kitchen was really tasty and completely okay in terms of price. The Bürgerspital Würzburg is worth a visit again at any time. ☆☆☆☆☆ out of 5 possible stars.

The wine cellar at Bürgerspital was just the thing on a rainy day. The wine tasting was great, the Franconian wines were really tasty, and the antipasti and small dishes were great. The atmosphere was cozy and we had a really nice time. Perfect for wine lovers!
