If you like food from the deep fryer, you won't have much trouble finding something suitable here. This works much better (and I know it from other zoos).

The term restaurant is quite inappropriate. The dishes come in very small portions, sometimes not even on a plate, but in cardboard boxes and at overpriced prices. Higher prices in zoos and parks are nothing new but these are not fair. Staff behind the counter totally incompetent and unfriendly. At least the cashier was very friendly and the view of the pond was nice

Supposedly no meat from factory farming, that appealed to us. Portions small, prices high; OK, we're at the zoo. But the term “restaurant” is not appropriate here. And the two checkers behind the counter who don't seem very clever but arrogant, let's say, don't belong here. The cashier was friendly and accommodating; anyway.

It's actually just a chip shop with an annex. It's a shame because you're usually in the zoo for a long time. I don't understand why they don't build a nice lodge where you can watch animals and eat something sensible. You eat better in every furniture store and they manage to offer something reasonably tasty and cheap. In addition, you only get the fries on a plate if you ask for them. Otherwise everything is in disposable packaging (so really sustainable... not!) and you have to put the fries directly on the tray... So it's better to take something with you and eat a nice ice cream outside afterwards.

I can only agree with the other reviewers. Price performance is not right at all. If you order Currywurst with Wecken, you get the Currywurst menu for twice the price. We ordered a carving with fries, which we got with mushroom sauce, which of course costs a lot more. Just messed up and ruined an otherwise lovely day at the zoo!

We once ordered the schnitzel menu and currywurst with wake. We got the currywurst with fries, which was a schnitzel with fries, but with a mushroom sauce that I was allowed to pay an extra €2.50 for, which I actually didn't want to. So in retrospect we had to pay more than we actually wanted. Mayo costs €0.70 extra, which is still somewhat understandable. Food in general was ok, but you can't really go wrong with fries.

Extremely overpriced almost ridiculously small portions. Ketchup for €0.7 does not contain 10 ml.

The chicken nuggets smelled fishy, probably old/rancid fat! But then you also pay theme park/Disneyland prices.

One star is still too many. 19€ for a small schnitzel from the deep fryer and a few fries. Hunter sauce another €2.50 extra. Quality: Hunger somehow drives in, although I seriously considered leaving it. I don't want to complain about the prices at all, but what is delivered is simply cheeky.

Pure rip off. The zoo (operator) should definitely offer family-friendly prices here and not add additional admission fees to the already high ones. The concept of fries packaging, among other things, should also be reconsidered. It is not possible to get food for 4 people without losing half of it.

Incredible! For the full price they seriously wanted to sell us 2 cold sausages. When we asked about it, we only responded with a grin. Never again!

There's nothing to say that hasn't already been said here in the comments. I don't understand why the management of the Cologne Zoo hates families so much that they don't change the food situation. The restaurant damages the image of the Cologne Zoo.

A handful of fries and a currywurst for €12. Larger portions may not be given out upon request. “If you pay €30 for entry, you can also pay €12 for food,” I heard as I walked away. Congratulations! Catastrophe…

We paid a whopping EUR 47.00 for fries with currywurst! Incredible. On top of that, the size of the fries is a joke! Unfortunately, in the other zoo snack bar they have canceled the large family "buckets" of fries. There are now fries in a paper cup, simply placed on the tablet, without a napkin. Very unhygienic. I agree with the others: just totally overpriced, not family-friendly. A pity!

Far too expensive for a lot of frozen goods/convenience products, unfriendly checkout staff, which is also understandable when every second person complains! You have to remember it's just a snack bar and not a star restaurant! Comment “I’m fed up….” I'm probably not the only one who complains about the price. At least the first and last time we were there! The only consolation is a nice playground for the little ones, while the adults can recover from the “Euro shock”. So self-catering and prefer to go to a nice local Cologne meal with the little ones.

Nothing to choose from and costs €40, never go there again. The only positive thing is the many animals in the zoo.👍

From today on there are only small fries for 3.70 euros in a mini size. The bestseller “Large Fries” was simply abolished. Absolute impudence They're digging their own grave here

Daily specials and standard fries, schnitzel, etc. Prices are, like elsewhere, in the middle range. If I get schnitzel with fries outside, it's just as expensive. Fries were too salty for me but otherwise it's average.

So it's not bad. That's a pretty good way to describe it, clearly better is always possible and for really good it's also significantly better. But it's exactly the same in almost every zoo. There you can e.g. just like we eat currywurst fries and if you're friendly you get a reasonable amount of mayo. Ultimately, I would definitely like these “restaurants” to get better. But terrible or catastrophic should be used carefully.

An absolute disgrace. Drinks cost €4 There is only fatty food. A children's fries for 3.50 plus a mini-splash of mayo for 75 cents and a salad with a bit of wilted leaf lettuce and otherwise just cheap pickled coleslaw for €8.50. Never again!!! I'll bring my own food to the zoo next time.

This is Flamingos Restaurant Zoo. It is located inside Zoo near the main entrance. It has small menu selection with already ready food. The Wurst was tasty, tomato pasta was ok, pulled pork was also good. The vegetable salad wasn't fresh. But everything is very overpriced. We could have a freshly made dinner in other restaurant in the center of Cologne for this money. The bonus - it has a nice kids playground just nearby.

Bedienung extrem unfreundlich.

Absolutely subterranean fries for far too much money and when asked why the bowl isn't filled, the regulations are referred to. Really pathetic.

I can only agree with the others. We waited over two hours for our order even though we didn't actually have time for it. The delivery man was then chatting comfortably in front of the house while we continued to wait. We called there four times and no one called back, even though we asked. They probably didn't have any contact with the driver in the store? Tastes okay but not worth the wait.

The service was good, the drinks were good and cheap and the table decorations were beautifully presented. Unfortunately, that was all good. When we made the reservation, we ordered the 3-course menu 1x with beef and 1x vegan and we were confirmed by phone that this was possible and noted. When we arrived, however, there were 2 menu cards in front of us with the same menu, which announced chicken as the main course. We said that this had been agreed differently over the phone and we were assured that we would now get 1 vegan menu and 1 menu with beef as the main course. Unfortunately the vegan alternatives consisted of leftovers. The starter for both of us was a cream of tomato soup that tasted like packet soup and also stuck strangely to the spoon. As a vegan main course I first had pasta with a filling that tasted like cheese. So I had to ask again if the dish was really vegan and it turned out that the filling contained mozzarella. So the pasta went back and as an alternative I got quinoa and Mediterranean vegetables without any sauce. The latter was also included in my counterpart's main course. So I assume that they simply boiled or warmed the quinoa and then served it with some of the vegetables that were left over from the other dish. The vegan dessert was a “fruit salad” which consisted of grapes and apples again without any dressing. Some apple pieces still had leftovers from another dish stuck to them, which tasted strongly of garlic. There was also an apple with a green peel and exactly the same apple was at the reception when we went out. When we went into the hotel restaurant there were still 2 apples there... In addition, some of the cutlery was crooked or not polished. The three-course meal also took place at a table in the hotel bar, which had a pub feel, although there was also a restaurant room. For the main course with beef, no one asked before serving what degree of doneness they wanted the meat to be. It was served well done and it was necessary to ask for a sharp knife. And all in a 4-star hotel!
