My colleague and I went to the restaurant and we were absolutely delighted. We hadn't made a reservation, but we were still lucky to get a table. The decor is very rustic and fits perfectly with the rest of the building. We were seated in the old classroom, sitting on old school desks. I had the head cheese with fried potatoes, which I thought was delicious. My colleague had the pasta with tomato sauce and wasn't quite as impressed. But tastes vary, so it's best to see for yourself. Tall or wider people should probably make a reservation, as it will likely be too cramped on the school desks. At 1.80m (5'11"), I found it just about okay.

We're currently staying at this establishment for two nights. Of course, we also reserved a table for the evening. Unfortunately, the waitress was very stressed and told us that today was her first day back at work. I couldn't decide on a dish right away because my first choice was unfortunately no longer available. The server then came back twice very quickly and told me the second time that it was burning under my fingernails!!! We immediately paid for our drinks and left. We pointed this out when paying, but unfortunately, they didn't take any notice!!! I've never left a review before. Absolutely outrageous!!

The restaurant captivated me from the moment I first glanced at the menu. I could have spent hours browsing through it, for example, about Grete Minde and the Great Fire of 1617. Incredibly lovingly designed, with a harmonious ambiance and, even at peak times, extremely attentive service. Simply something truly special. Next time we're in the area, we'll be happy to come back.

Today we wanted to go to an themed restaurant. Unfortunately, the reception was terrible. When we entered, there was no staff to be seen. We sat expectantly at a free table. After about 10 minutes, a waitress came and meowed at the crowd, asking why we were sitting at a reserved table. I asked her why there was no sign on the table in this case, so we couldn't know. She said, "But I know," and anyway, they have to make a reservation. Very "friendly to tourists." After the discussion, she was willing to offer us a seat, but we left with thanks.

A delicious little snack for the way home After a lovely day trip, I wanted a bite to eat, so I opted for the homemade spiced meat and a stein of cow's tail beer. The spiced meat paired particularly well with the lemon and was tastier than I imagined. Generally, they offer a lot of homemade food here, and the service is very friendly. A quaint restaurant in the style of a very old school. The dining rooms are decorated like themed rooms. The menu was designed like an old school notebook and was sufficiently varied and not too extensive. The food was very tasty, and the portions were generously sized. There's also a small outdoor lighting area in front of the building. There were even water bowls at the table for the dogs. Highly recommended!

Highly recommended! If you want to dine in a truly unique setting with lovingly curated decor, this is the place for you. You eat at old school desks or old kitchen tables. There's even a classroom where Feuerzang bowling nights are held. A truly cool idea. The menu is manageable, but there's something for everyone. It's a little trip back in time. Don't expect comfort here. That wouldn't be appropriate anyway. The waiter was extremely keen to accommodate everyone and was friendly, even though he was running around the place the whole time. He seemed to be the only one serving, and a woman was at the cash register. The farmer's breakfast was unfortunately not very seasoned, but the sausages were very tasty. The building is 400 years old and used to be a school. That's why "Grandma" came up with this decorating idea. Her story, how she came to the purchase and the adversities she faced, is incredibly fascinating. We were fortunate enough to meet her in person later and spend a truly enjoyable evening/night with her (in the hotel bar diagonally across the street from this restaurant). Both restaurants/hotels belong together (family business).

It's a great idea to build a restaurant in an old school. You can also sit at the old school desks while eating.

I find the individual rooms nice there but recently I was in the annex, which I didn't like so much and the mattress was quite saggy

Very nice restaurant. The decor is reminiscent of a local history museum. (Unfortunately, the seating was also limited, and I didn't feel comfortable sitting there. We probably shouldn't have chosen the schoolroom. 🫣) The waitress was very friendly. What we particularly liked was that even shortly before and after the restaurant closed, there was no rush, and we were able to finish our visit in peace. We found the drink prices quite expensive. The individually designed menu is also very nice; that alone makes the visit worthwhile. The dishes are a good combination of traditional German cuisine and modern requirements, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, and they're not just the familiar vegetable patty.

Unfortunately, we had to decide against the restaurant because the staff were incredibly unfriendly. They were a younger blonde and brunette woman who spoke to us condescendingly. When we mentioned that we had chosen an outside seating, we weren't answered. That was unpleasant.

You can eat well here, but be sure to ask what you're ordering first, otherwise you might be in for a surprise. The interior is beautiful; it's definitely worth taking a look around the entire restaurant; it will bring back childhood memories. ☺️👌👍

Great food in various small rooms, good service. We ate in the old-fashioned classroom, and the bar is located in the antique kitchen—a great idea from the restaurant's owners. We can wholeheartedly recommend it and will definitely be back on our next visit to the city.

The ambiance is great. It's an old school with different dining rooms. Everything is very authentic. But it's not for everyone. Everything is old, rickety, and not very comfortable. The food selection is very limited and "East German" and very expensive. A Hamburg schnitzel with fried potatoes costs just under €22. But it was delicious.

We stopped in spontaneously, and even though they were fully booked, we were shown to a back room where we shared a table with another young man. The restaurant is rustic...transporting you back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The menu also teaches you something about Tangermünde's past. An absolute MUST.

Super friendly service and super cold beer

The unusual furnishings are definitely an eye-catcher. Unfortunately, the gardener's pan was so extremely salty that it was inedible even for someone with a penchant for salty food. The price of almost €19 would hardly have been justified, as a bit of vegetables with potatoes definitely shouldn't be as expensive as schnitzel or fish.

Didn't even get around to eating... totally unfriendly staff. Not worth the fuel to go there.

We tried to reserve a table outside over the phone, but were told it wasn't possible. But when we got there at 7:00 p.m., three tables outside had been reserved... strange!

Actually good hell beer and nice staff

After an extremely strenuous bike ride, we ended up at the Exempel Inn. It was the highlight of the day so far. The atmosphere was fantastic (it's a former schoolhouse), the host and service staff were truly excellent, and the Kuhschwanzbier (cow's tail beer) was tasty and easy to drink. A must-visit in Tagermünde.

We were in Tangermünde for the first time with friends over Whitsun and discovered this restaurant while strolling around. There were nine of us and we hadn't reserved a table. After a 10-minute walk, we were seated without prior notice. This experience was wonderful. I was impressed by the old school and the teacher's apartment. The food is good, traditional cooking and tasted very good. We only had to wait 15 minutes for our food. The service is warm and coolly relaxed. We are so satisfied that we will definitely return with our family.

We came here for dinner with a large group. The ambiance is, of course, fantastic. The food was great too. It was a very successful evening. This restaurant is a must-see.

The Exempel Gaststuben restaurant is highly recommended. We were cycling along the Elbe Cycle Path and weren't familiar with it, but we were thoroughly impressed. The food was excellent, the ambiance unique, and the staff attentive. The Kuhschwanzbier (cow's tail beer) and Furwurz (a kind of sausage) are excellent. As recommended, we recommend ordering bread with the Stadtbrand (city brandy). We'd be happy to come back.

The food was not justified in terms of price/performance. The advertised salad was generous, but there was no difference between the three plates. The baked pork steak with ragu fin and cheese was absolutely not good. Absolutely no ragu fin. The fried potatoes were neither crispy nor full of fat. The chef's mood was rather subpar, as he was getting upset about others in front of the guests. The atmosphere was great, and the two waitresses were super friendly.

My absolute favorite restaurant for over 25 years. The food is excellent. The ambiance is unique. And above all, the service is absolutely first-class. A reliable guy in charge. The best waiter ever.

The decor and menu are lovingly crafted and exceptional. However, the service left much to be desired. Upon entering the restaurant, there was no one there at first, it took a long time for anyone to come to our table, and they didn't clear the table until we left, nor did they even ask if we wanted anything else. The portions are relatively small, and the prices are high for what's on offer.

The service is excellent. The light beer is very drinkable, and the food is highly recommended. If you're in Tangermünde, be sure to stop by.

We spontaneously visited the GASTSTUBE for our 35th wedding anniversary and spontaneously experienced a journey through time in the really lovingly furnished old school building with many secrets that our youth certainly don't know in detail. We remembered many things that our teachers still practiced in order to enrich us with knowledge suitable for everyday life. Yes, and the food was absolutely delicious. It's worth stopping here.

Excellent food (the asparagus was perfect!), friendly staff and a unique location in the form of old classrooms. There was a lot going on, but it still didn't take long until we got the food.

Wir haben Gott sei Dank nicht die Strafbank von den beiden sehr netten „Lehrerinnen“ bekommen.😆 Wir haben sehr gut und reichhaltig gegessen und die Getränke mussten sich auch nicht verstecken… ob kuhschwanz Bier, ein netter Wein… alles hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Es gibt bei schönem Wetter viele Plätze draußen auf dem Kirchplatz, ansonsten darf man an alten Schulbänken Platz nehmen und das Innere erkunden. Viele tolle alte Dinge aus eigenen und noch weit vergangeneren Schultagen gibt es hier zu entdecken. Auch die Speisekarte ist ein absoluter Hingucker, wir haben sogar ein eigenes Heft mit nach Hause genommen. Ein wirkliches Schmuckstück… alternativ kann man auch in die alte Zecherei gehen, die beiden gehören zusammen.

We were there for the first time today, spontaneously and without knowing anything about the restaurant beforehand. The service was excellent, warmly authentic. The food was a 10/10. Both the kettle goulash and the Hanseatic footwear. Likewise the light and dark house beer. The interior of the restaurant is unique and rustic. Last but not least, we took two treats with us, which can be seen in the third picture. The “city fire” in particular is tough. Bread with the drink is really recommended. All in all we were completely happy and satisfied.

Really quaint and unusual! We can definitely recommend it. Don't know if it would be suitable for large groups. We were in the classroom and it's quite cramped, but very interesting! Food was great 👍, our wishes were also taken into account. Menu is also well done and you won't get bored here! The dog was also allowed in and was immediately given a bowl of water without us having to say anything! 👍👍
