Erstes Ulmer Pfannkuchenhaus - Allgäuer Hof in Ulm

We visited the Pancake House in Ulm for the first time on December 2nd, 2025. Although all the tables were reserved, we were still able to get a small table for ourselves. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely, with pictures of Ulm everywhere. We each ordered number 34 and my wife number 33, along with drinks. The food arrived quickly. What can I say? It was absolutely delicious! This certainly won't be our last visit to the Pancake House in Ulm; we'll definitely be back.

They have excellent pancakes, and the selection is huge. The staff gave us great advice. I'd gladly come again.

The food was good...unfortunately, laughter and good cheer are unwelcome...otherwise you'll be met with a stern look.

November 2025 A solid restaurant. Service is quick, friendly, and attentive. Food arrives piping hot from the kitchen, and the wait times are reasonable. The food is down-to-earth and regional, and it tastes good. Anyone expecting a special culinary experience, fine dining, or haute cuisine will be disappointed. The tables are clean, and the restaurant itself gives a clean impression. A highlight, besides the food, is the impressive collection of stoneware jugs displayed above the guests' heads. Otherwise, the restaurant was nicely decorated for autumn, appropriate for the season (and it's worth noting that there wasn't a speck of dust on the decorations!). If I were ever in Ulm again, I would return for the solid German cuisine and the friendly and attentive service.

A delight every time!!! 100% recommended!! Whether you prefer regular dishes or the giant pancakes they offer, both sweet and savory. In summer, there's also the option to sit outside.

Fantastic! There's really no better way to put it. I was initially skeptical when friends suggested we go there. Pancakes... pff, that's more of a dessert... But I was pleasantly surprised. It starts with the impeccable service. Warm, friendly, and honest. The advice was top-notch, too. The food: divine. Generous portions, piping hot plates, superb quality. I was completely stuffed after the oven-baked pancake with spicy ground beef. Value for money: excellent, in my opinion. Quality and service are worth paying for, and HERE you definitely get your money's worth. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area. Thank you for this wonderful experience.

Very nice, rustic restaurant (5 stars for people who like that) with excellent service and a huge selection of pancakes. Everything was very good and served quickly. A small downside was the salad. It was very cold and the dressing was too much. It would be nice to serve it separately. All in all, a clear recommendation.

Good food, slightly dated decor, but okay service

During our visit to the cities of Ulm and Neu-Ulm, we enjoyed a very good dinner. The service staff was super friendly and accommodating. We ordered two different pancake dishes, cheese spaetzle, and a children's schnitzel with gravy and spaetzle. All dishes were delicious and served quickly. Tip: Reserve a table.

Although the restaurant is primarily known for its pancakes, as a schnitzel fan, I tried the schnitzel – and I wasn't disappointed! A large portion, truly delicious. The fries were also surprisingly good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, yet they looked completely ordinary. A draught Gold Ochsen beer was perfect!

We were there for the first time in a long time, and right from the start, we received the wrong drink, and the pancake soup didn't have any pancakes. The main course had chives on top, even though we specifically ordered them without. The poor waiter had to constantly apologize for the others' mistakes. The place wasn't overly busy. The service has been better. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. And be sure to make a reservation... Update 10/01/25 We wanted to go for pancakes again and made a reservation for 8 people at 6 p.m. on a Saturday, but were told we couldn't make a reservation for Saturday. It's a shame, if they can afford to forgo 8 adults for dinner these days.

A very rustic restaurant with very good food and good service.

It's been good for years. A true tradition. The place is a bit dark due to the wooden walls and ceiling. However, the food is consistently good, whether it's pancakes or Swabian dishes. I always enjoy coming here.

It was fully booked as I came, was lucky to get a table spontaneously. Very nice concept and a good portion. Overall, it was not bad, but I gave a deduction as the filling was unfortunately a bit too salty… (I will update review again if I come again) *Update: September 24th, 2025* Friendly service. Good ambiance. I ordered the pancake with mushrooms touts time and it was delicious. For dessert, the apple rings with vanilla ice cream was extremely delicious. Therefore I’m revising my rating into a 5 star for this place.

We came here for a late lunch/afternoon snack. It was recommended to us, so we didn't want to miss it. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed. When we sat down, we were ignored for 15 minutes. The waiters just stared at us and walked past us. The restaurant wasn't full!! The service was not good – unfriendly and stressed. You could tell they didn't really want to serve us. The pancake was delicious, and the pumpkin soup was good too. But unfortunately, there was no bread with it. I reordered some and paid €1 – it was just one slice of bread! What's that all about? We waited forever to pay, and they ignored us again. I wouldn't go back.

Hello everyone... A visit is a must when you're in beautiful Ulm! Pancakes in all variations and many other savory treats in a rustic atmosphere! Thanks again to everyone, and keep up the good work!

The food was delicious, but very underwhelming. According to the website, the restaurant was supposed to be open until 9 p.m., and so was the kitchen. Apparently, this was only the case until 8 p.m. (on a Sunday), so the waitress kept coming and asking us if we wanted another coffee, etc., while we were eating. There was a rather strange smell at the second table to the left of the entrance, which was unpleasant during our stay.

The food was really good, but the atmosphere was a bit rushed. The menu stated that they were supposed to be open until 9 p.m., but apparently the kitchen was already closed at 8 p.m. (Sunday). This gave the impression that the waitress was trying to rush us through; for example, we were asked for coffee during our meal. Furthermore, the seat at the second table to the left of the entrance wasn't particularly pleasant, as it had a rather strange smell.

The food was great, but the service was very irritable and a bit slow that day; we had to wait quite a long time for our pancakes.

Great for anyone who likes pancakes/crepes, whether savory or sweet.

They told us they were closed 1h before the time, just because they were almost empty and the night was awful to get clients. So thanks for nothing. I really hope you don't get tourist as you seem to want.

Worst attention ever. Several empty tables and they did not want to give one to our family. They speak no English and I have received the worst treatment in my life in any restaurant in the world

We just wanted a drink. Every table was reserved, and we weren't allowed to sit anywhere at 4 p.m. They didn't even tell us when the tables would be reserved. The waitress was rude, which was a real shame. We were then able to sit with other guests who were having the same experience. The reserved tables were still free 45 minutes later... so they could still improve on friendliness and business acumen.

Ulm's first pancake house, simply traditional and with a wonderful menu. If you love pancakes, you shouldn't miss this place... and when the weather is nice, sit outside and enjoy them. The restrooms are spotlessly clean, and the dining room is a real eye-catcher. This is what craftsmanship used to be like.

A cute little place in a neighborhood worth visiting. Friendly staff in perfect local style. Reasonably quick service. A good and plentiful schnitzel, the soup with omelette and potato salad were good. The strudel was acceptable but nothing special. The price of sparkling water was practically the same as beer... but if you're a teetotaler, you don't have many options. We were in a group, and having shared, we spent €55 for two.

For heaven's sake. Where did I end up here? Why does the pancake house have so many positive reviews? Unfortunately, we were here for a company event. Personally, I would have definitely looked for something more flavorful. I found the service staff at least as unpleasant as the location and the food. For those with gluten intolerance, I can tell you right away that you won't find anything edible. Every meal here is served with pancakes 🤣 Which are truly filling. But that's about it. The taste is pretty similar to bad cafeteria food. I had the feeling they were using a lot of packets. Especially since there were about 30 of us there, and everyone had our food relatively quickly. But, as I said, the taste wasn't anything special. I'm glad I never have to go there again. 👍🏼

Absolutely unfriendly service; the waitress was obviously overwhelmed by every course. The carelessly prepared sausage salad came with one (!) slice of bread each. When we asked if we could have two more slices of bread (for two people), we were given two half slices! The taste wasn't anything special either. I would not recommend this restaurant at all and will never go back.

Okay, the location is a bit hidden, you have to know a little where the inn is, otherwise it's a nice, quiet location and anyone who can't find pancakes to eat here has no idea about pancakes

the place is cozy and homey, the portion is generous. ive tried menu no.4- sweet classic crepe with sugar, chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. The crepe is well cooked, texture is perfect. But i do think there's room for imporvement for the toppings. for vanilla ice cream, they use Mövenpick which personally not my favourite choice. i would try other menu as well next time :)

I know that service in Germany is generally poor. But the rudeness of the waitress here just to answer a question is on a whole other level. How can they expect people to come back?

Super tasty. Applies to both pancakes, one with fried egg and meatloaf, the other with turkey strips, onions and tzatziki. Prices around €17 each. And we were full.

In the middle of Ulm, the Erste Ulmer Pfannkuchenhaus, a must visit in Ulm, simply brilliant.

Good home cooking combined with pancakes, highly recommended. We have enjoyed coming here for years when we are in Ulm. Always friendly staff and a slightly older but extremely well-kept, rustic restaurant round off your visit to the Fischerviertel. When the weather is good you can sit outside, but it's also very comfortable inside in winter.

We ordered cheese spaetzle for €15 each and got a small children's portion. Accompanied by a small sad salad drowned in dressing. The portion was so small, we finished eating after just 7 minutes. Absolutely outrageous for €15.

Unfortunately, this restaurant was a failure and the service was a disaster. You couldn't pay with a card in the beer garden and you had to go in, but no one was responsible anymore. The price was overpriced and the taste was okay. I won't eat there a second time.

The waitresses are very friendly, committed and in a good mood. We ordered a Cordon Bleu and the Schneiderpfännchen for dinner. The Cordon Bleu tasted good and was also large, and the fries were also very good. Unfortunately, the sauce in the pan was very oily, but that didn't hurt the taste. The side potatoes are excellent. The Allgäuer Hof is a cozy, traditional Swabian-style restaurant. I stopped by this evening. The ambience is harmonious, really rustic, as befits an old inn. I found the food very good, schnitzel with spaetzle and sauce, a pan cake with apricot coating and a dark from the barrel. Everything tasted wonderful and the portions were very generous. Despite being very hungry (I haven't eaten anything since breakfast), I felt full. It was busy so I had to wait a little longer for some things, but that's totally fine with me. The service was friendly and attentive. The sanitary facilities are clean, there is nothing to complain about here either. I particularly like the prices and the performance ratio. €23.90 for beer, main course and dessert, with tip €27. It couldn't be fairer these days. All in all a recommendation, great restaurant.
