Great restaurant with French cuisine. Both the wine list and the menu show the high quality, which is also delivered in terms of taste. The lobster and the beef fillet were particularly impressive across the board. All of this combined with top service. Clear recommendation!

WEITERE KOMMENTARE IN Google

Because of an article in the FAZ on the 50th anniversary of the rest, we decided to give it a try - the current reviews in TripAdvisor and Google were mostly very good. We had 3 courses and different wines (white and red). What was striking was that there were no open wines on the wine list. The reason: “the wine selection changes too often”. That was something “special”…my first star/star restaurant where I was able to “experience” that. Well, the food was better home-style French cooking. Not more than that. Then why €80 for the saddle of venison??? Of course because of the star. The starter and dessert weren't star level either...not really with any finesse. The wines were tasty, but nothing special, NOTHING complex! Some of them have probably been in the opened bottle for days. We rejected these wines. Last but not least, the bill: Lo and behold, the wines cost €35 per 0.1l glass. That's called "cheap" because the wine was definitely not of the appropriate standard. The total bill was over €400 (including 4 * 0.1l glasses of wine)..🙈 Conclusion: Not value for money! We'd rather go to one of the better home-style restaurants in Frankfurt and pay half the price, or go straight to “La Fleur” around the corner. There are wonderful open wines, served with a “CoreVin”…☝️. It's a shame, because the interior of Erno's Bistro was very warm and beautifully dimly lit. P.S. Afterwards, I looked again at the reviews from the last 2 years and lo and behold, a guest had a very similar experience in 2023. Many (regular) guests apparently don’t care about “value for money”.

4 * 0,1l Gläser Wein)..🙈 Fazit: Not value for money!

Very, very good starter, excellent service, excellent ambience, very, very good red wine, good main course (for my taste, the sauce for the lamb was a little too salty and intense, it dominated the other flavors too much), good dessert but in proportion nis a bit much about the menu... In summary: a very successful festive lunch menu for me and a reasonable price for what was offered!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Erno’s Bistro in Frankfurt, and I must say the experience exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the service was outstanding and friendly, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and warmth, making me feel genuinely welcome. The ambiance is quaint and unpretentious, allowing the food to take center stage without any unnecessary fuss. Speaking of which, the food was simply brilliant—not only visually stunning but bursting with flavor. It’s clear why this place has earned a Michelin star, as the dishes were executed with precision and creativity. The main course, in particular, was a masterpiece that made my taste buds dance! However, the standout dish for me was the steak tartare. Without question, it's the best I’ve had anywhere—perfectly seasoned and texturally delightful. If I had to mention a very minor concern, it would be with the foie gras. While delicious on its own, I felt it didn’t quite pair well with all the accompaniments on the plate. But this is a small note in an otherwise flawless meal. The wine list was extensive, and the recommendations were spot on, complementing the dishes beautifully. Erno’s Bistro is certainly one of the very best French restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of visiting in Germany. Highly recommended for those seeking an exquisite dining experience!

White table and classic cutlery added to the dignity of the restaurant. And the dishes are modern and colorful. It was like a work of art that felt the chef’s deep agony from the taste of the dishes to the decoration. Also servers were very kind and thoughtful, I felt comfortable. But pricewise, it was not cheap.

The three of us sat outside between the house and the sidewalk, in the front yard so to speak. With a tablecloth, greetings from the kitchen and good bread with butter in between. After three courses we were full and satisfied. Although rather unsuitable for vegetarians, as flexitarians we were very happy with what was on our plate. Good service, relaxed and present, does not press and gives the feeling that the guest is welcome and that the service is happy to do so. You have to complain a bit about the pricing of the three courses, there is still a bit of room for improvement. There aren't many seats in the restaurant and the need for staff is high. It's just beautiful and it's nice that this thing exists.

Erno's Bistro exists for more than 45 years. This small (not crowded) place creates a charming, cosy and neighbourly atmosphere in Frankfurts noble residential living area Westend which is partly down to the decor (pretty wooden panelling, decorative accessories such as wine bottles, pictures and lamps) and partly to the very friendly, curious about the guest, relaxed yet adept front-of-house team. Head chef's Valéry Mathis cooking is well refined & executed and rich in flavours. Expect Michelin rated French cuisine with seasonal and modern influences, while using top-quality produce. Extremely well-stocked wine list with awesome recommendations if you require.

But because of Erno's 24 hr cancelation policy with Open Table and the restaurant not picking up my call, I was charged a $400 fee. I realize the lost revenue from my party not showing up, but think of the lost revenue that Enro's could have experienced if I brought in a COVID positive guest to their restaurant! Because of this $400 charge, my company and my very large customer who is in the food industry has no plans of ever visiting Erno's Bistro again!

Stern hin oder her!

We were sitting outside. The atmosphere was very romantic, with fresh flowers on the central table. 3 waiters have been serving us with extreme care and kindness, paying attention to little details and being very knowledgeable about the food, able to make good suggestions. Excellent service. As someone said in previous reviews, this is a restaurant where you can really eat well, but you need not to care about money. And, I dare to add, you need to love fish as the menu was strongly gravitating around sea food. The quality of the food was sublime. Everything was absolutely fresh and very well combined with little pieces of fruits. However, the portions were very small and the prices absolutely high. Most of the choices were around 69 euro. Definitely a must-try restaurant when you want to feel taken care of, but I find the trade-off between price and quantity yet not appropriate.

We went there with very high expectations. We have been looking for a cozy neighborhood place with great food, and upon entrance it seemed promising. However other than the atmosphere and the friendly staff the food was utterly disappointing and hugely disproportionate to the pricing. My wife ordered lobster carpaccio as appetizer. Lobster is very delicate, so when it is paired with caviar the lobster was completely overpowered. The seafood main course was extremely fishy even though the sauce was delicious. Overall we spent over 400 EUR (including a bottle of wine) and the food is frankly just not worth the money.

A small French Bistro with two separate rooms, cozy atmosphere and elegant tableware. They offer a 3 or 4 course menu or a la carte selection. Bread and butter was served followed by a very nice amuse bouche plate. I had the fried octopus as the starter, the seabass as the main and finished with the plum dessert with ice cream. The chocolate mousse and small delicacies served with coffee was a good surprise. Overall it was a good dining experience. Prices are on the high side.

So for bankers, real estate sharks, CEO, CFO and their young, pretty companions. No question, here you can eat very well. Probably you can not eat better French in Frankfurt anywhere. Maybe even in Germany. The atmosphere in the two small rooms between wooden walls is special. Reminds somehow of a blockhouse in the 70s. But appearance is deceptive. What comes on the table is sensational. And the service is just as special. Somewhat rustic, brash, very self-confident. At lunchtime you are sitting here very intimate. Perfect for a working lunch. Even "affordable". But as I said: In the evening it will be (in my eyes) almost priceless. Or do you find a main course (no menu!) For 65 EUR appropriate? If you did not flinch now - then go there!

WEITERE KOMMENTARE IN TripAdvisor

A restaurant which I have visited often in the past many years and which has always lived up to its reputation as one of the best restaurants in Frankfurt. This time, however, I was disappointed and will probably not return to this restaurant anytime soon. We had a table of four and the table setting remains simple and nice. The food at the restaurant is still good but it misses the finesse that was present during earlier visits. Considering the prices for a starters of around 30 to 35 Euros and the prices for a main course which range from 50 to 65 Euros, this is certainly not a cheap restaurant and expectations are therefore also on the high side. The impressive wine list continues to be impressive but again, some of the wines listed are considerably more expensive then in comparative restaurants like La Fleur or Restaurant Francaise. The service is a little too familiar and what is definitely not acceptable is the fact that you do not receive your change which is simply considered gratuity - this is simply unacceptable and in a restaurant of this level unheard of. The owner of the restaurant, while present, seems to be present but unlike before, he is not 'at the table' and it seems as if he has lost interest in what was once a very personal restaurant. So, in conclusion, the food is still good but it is not exceptional anymore - and for the prices the restaurant is charging, one has the right to expect more.

The food... impeccable. The atmosphere... impeccable. The service... impeccable. I do not have enough complimentary words for this place. We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation and were greeted immediately and made to feel like nothing was wrong.. They proved an aperitif to start the meal.. What a great start.. A nice glass of vintage champagne to start the meal. We had several appetizers to start and were impressed by each of the,. The main courses were outstanding and perfect for the wine chosen by the oner, Eric. He was engaging and thoughtful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time interacting with him.. We felt like family when speaking with him.. The wine list is absolutely incredible and extensive. He chose a great CDP to go with our meal of entrécôte and duck. Please let him choose a wine for you.. He will not let you down. The excellent service continued throughout the meal. We cannot wait to come back to this place at a later time to try different items from the menu. Absolutely outstanding.

A good friend and me decided to really really treat ourselves this evening, to something special. Erno's Bistro seemed perfect for that. I was mostly disappointed. THE FOOD The scallop starter was very good. The entrecote: they mixed up who had the medium and who the rare. And the rare was not rare, rather close to medium, maybe medium rare. I would have complained, but no-one asked us how it was while we were eating, so I ate it and commented when the waiter asked me, when he took the empty plate. He listened to my complaint, but left while I was talking. When he got back, he apologized for the food (not before on my first mentioning the gruevance). I told him, he had left, while I was still complaining. "I wanted to tell the kitchen really fast. I want to make it right, so we can be friends again." Right... The choice of cheeses was great, no butter (asked for it, got it right away) and no fig mustard (or similar), though. THE DRINKS Champagne flows freely, 20 Euro a glass is steep, but that's Frankfurt. When asking for advice on the wine (only French wine on the list), I was told, there is German wine, but not on the list. "We are a French restaurant, I am your wine list for the German wines." I asked, whether a certain French wine was a Chardonnay grape. I could not help it, I felt patronized by the answer (admitting beforehand that I know very little of French wines). The recommended Chardonnay was way over 100 Euro a bottle - I find that risky for a recommendation. We chose that wine, it was excellent. THE SERVICE The waiters are casually dressed, which I like, and try to keep up a casual tone - a fine line, which was crossed every now and then during the evening. Some service issues I have already mentioned. A regular guest arrived, he was greeted cordially by the two waiters and the patron, a good sign. His honoured status was emphasized constantly by a lot of bodily attention, as hugging and massaging his back. One waiter's comments on the guest's accompanying lady, while she was using the bathroom, was much more information than I wanted to hear. After "fullfilling expectations" (e.g. eating the main course as mentioned above, ordering a digestive etc.) we were quite forgotten in between. Our water was placed on the counter, but I had to grab it myself and pour for us. Desert was offered, the desert menu has no cheese in it, we had to ask for that choice. After our digestive we had to call for attention again, as we were left to ourselves. THE LOCATION I like the interior, very cozy and stylish, in a sophisticated manner. Even if all tables are taken, the places allows for privacy. TO SUM IT UP Two starters/main courses/cheese choice; a bottle of wine and water each; five glasses of Champagne; two espressi; two digestives = quite close to 500 Euro. I would definitely want a better experience for that kind of money.

I like this Bistro because of its cozy atmosphere, the good cuisine and the service. For the first time I had dinner in the patio which I enjoyed very much. My boyfriend and I had the 4-courses menu with matching wines. I loved the starter (Tuna tartar) and the fish course (Turbot). The veal did not impress me much, but dessert was good. Overall I really enjoyed the evening until I realized that they charged me 25 euro for a glass of dessert wine!! Hello??? this is definitely too much!! even online the dessert wine is priced "only" 18 euro.

This Restaurant and the people working in it made us smile. Genuine truly warm welcome in a super cozy atmosphere. Great selection of wines ( mainly French) and the menu reveals the origin of the chef ( Valerie) with specialties from the Alsace. The 1 Michelin Star is absolutely deserved. Att: you need to make reservations upfront and from Mo-Fri as during weekend restaurant is closed. Parking around is tricky so take a taxi or use nearby S-Bahn. We had a wonderful experience at Sorriso, enjoying a total of six courses. If I could graph the experience, it would start low and rise steadily to the top. Unfortunately, the amuse-bouches were a bit underwhelming for both of us—nothing particularly memorable. The bread was served with homemade butter, but the butter was too cold to spread easily, which wasn’t the best start. However, things took a turn for the better with the first course. The presentation of the beet dish was stunning—a true piece of art. Unfortunately, the flavor didn’t quite deliver, and the dish felt a bit too cold, as though it hadn’t reached the right serving temperature. From that point onward, though, everything was absolutely fantastic. Each dish hit the mark with incredible flavors and thoughtful pairings. The wines, sourced from German and Austrian heritage, were a delight. A smoky cocktail included in the wine pairing added a unique and entertaining twist. Even the unexpected inclusion of ice in one of the courses was a pleasant surprise. The presentation was magnificent throughout, with standout dishes like the chestnut soup, beautifully detailed and bursting with flavor. The tuna served with caviar was another highlight—something I’d been looking forward to for a long time, and it didn’t disappoint. Sorriso is undoubtedly a great place to dine. While there were some minor details that could be improved, they didn’t take away from the overall joy of the experience. With the level of craftmanship and labor put in the dishes, i highly recommend this restaurant.

EDIT: I'm updating my review since I just realized it was never posted - this time I have added the relevant pictures of the food and menu since the restaurant seems to have report my review, questioning whether I really ate there and claiming no such dishes were served (guinea fowl). I ate there in August 2021 and reviewed when I got home a few weeks later. Downgrading to 1* due to unprofessional handling of this. Furthermore based on more recent reviews it seems I'm not the only one to think their asian interpretations are poor. I think anyone who gets asian food will find it pretty blah and undeserving of any Michelin stars (maybe you can arguably call it a westernized interpretation, though I find it a massive downgrade taste and ingredient wise). Btw there is nothing wrong with being experimental, but if we give feedback it's not working - accept it or not - what's the point in being rude and questioning whether we even ate there?! That they're questioning objective facts like whether or not I ate there and something like time to serve the food. I can even pull up my IG stories with timestamps... I'm sorry but in this day and age everything is recorded online and you can't deny facts like in the past. To the restaurant: you need to educate whoever is responding to these reviews on food from different cultures; to claim there is nothing japanese-inspired when oden and wasabi have been served historically is just weird. -- I don't even know why this is a Michelin starred restaurant. It was also incredibly slow, I'm not sure if they're short staffed but they took 4h to serve everything and was sometimes cold. The food was subpar, Japanese inspired (but they're not alone in this this season) but you're better off in Japan. For example, one of the courses was like tough guinea fowl in oden and a bao. Oden is cheap food and so much better in Asia.

We went to Masa for the first time for our anniversary and had a wonderful evening there. From the excellent service to the extremely delicious Japanese cuisine. The service was very friendly, accommodating and immediately available for every request. And all of this without being intrusive. The food was of course the highlight and we were able to enjoy our omakase menu for 4 hours in a noble ambience. Of course, the fact that we were able to watch the food being prepared from our seat at the counter made the evening perfect. The matching wine pairing was fantastic and absolutely suited my taste. Although it was a bit much for me as I hardly drink alcohol. The wine sommelier, as well as everyone else, do their job from the heart and you should feel that in every interaction. The ambience was simple and elegant and, despite the full cast, it was never too loud. It was just a little too cold for our taste, but that's a personal interpretation. In summary, I give 5 stars for our stay at this restaurant. A restaurant that takes all the senses on a journey through Japanese cuisine. We can wholeheartedly recommend Masa to anyone who values good food.
