Hamburg at its best. Getting a table spontaneously, delicious food, friendly service. Always worth a visit.

This evening, after a short wait, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our reserved table. The food arrived incredibly quickly and was delicious! The second round of drinks seemed to go unnoticed at first, but they were there immediately after we asked. The two of them did a fantastic job this evening, even with a full house – always friendly and always ready for a quick chat! The place was packed, so reservations are highly recommended! Making a reservation through the website was a breeze.

Erika's Corner is a real highlight for delicious food and drinks. It's often mentioned in travel guides. Always a treat for flavorful food and excellent service.

Always delicious and hearty! If that's what you're looking for, this is the place! The atmosphere is incredibly cozy and it's located right in Hamburg's Schanzenviertel district. They serve delicious schnitzel and probably the best fried potatoes in the city! (At least, that's my opinion.) The staff are always friendly and attentive. I love this place and highly recommend it.

Delicious food but reservations are required. Reservations are only accepted by phone and they don't speak English. Service was okay.

Since the change of ownership, it's unfortunately nothing like it used to be. You have to wait about 15 minutes before anyone even speaks to you and maybe even shows you to a table. The food is twice, if not three times, as expensive as before, and the staff is so unfriendly—it has nothing to do with the reserved atmosphere of Hamburg. The food is also terrible value for money. It doesn't stand a chance compared to other places. I'm really deeply disappointed…

If you're looking for a truly authentic German meal, this is the place to go. While the prices are a bit high, you get a generous portion with excellent ingredients. Our herring was outstanding, as was the head cheese. The service was friendly, typical, and efficient!

Fantastic atmosphere and excellent food

The front of the dining area was packed with food vendors, and there was still a seat available in the back room. The time (after 9 pm) wasn't a problem; the kitchen had delivered. Perfect, I'll definitely go there again!

We spontaneously decided to stop by for dinner, but unfortunately, we were out of luck; the line was already out of the restaurant when we arrived. Since we had to eat somewhere else that evening, we returned after our meal and reserved a table for lunch the next day. After a short wait, we were able to take our seats the following day and fully enjoy this iconic establishment. The food was, as expected, delicious and very reasonably priced. The selection of drinks was also excellent. The service was quick, attentive, and full of humor. We felt very comfortable and, after our satisfying meal at Erika's Eck, were able to begin our 550km drive home. I should mention that, thanks to the generous portions, I didn't need dinner even after the nearly 6-hour drive home. Highly recommended, but reservations are definitely recommended. :)

It took a very long time for us to get our food.

We went there as a groud to have a schnitzel. Of all the group, I was the only one who haven't been there. The rest of the group love the place and the food. But this wasn't my case. I've never had a schnitzel before. I didn't know what to expect. So it happens, it's just like an "escalope" but the size of a "cachopo". Meat was tender, the mushroom sauce was ok (although it tasted artificial). The full dish was huge. It's just it wasn't worth it for me. It's like "toddler" food. It reminded me of a fast food chain we had in Spain called "Skalop". But to be fair, if you're into this kind of food you'll definitely enjoy it. I simply prefer spending those 20€ somewhere else.

A typical corner pub with all the right atmosphere. Honest, delicious home-style cooking. I haven't had such a tasty schnitzel in ages. The price is right. Even though the place was completely full, the staff were friendly and we didn't have to wait long. We'll definitely be back when we're in Hamburg again.

We ordered turkey schnitzel. It came with cooked vegetables (peas, carrots, beans), salad, and fries. Unfortunately, everything was mixed together under the schnitzel. This made the fries soggy and the vegetables unappetizing. However, the schnitzel itself was tasty.

Pure cult classic... Nothing more to say. Thank you for this journey back in time. I'll definitely be back.

A long-established Hamburg restaurant in St. Pauli/Schanzenviertel with great atmosphere. The food is fantastic, the prices are great, and the long kitchen hours are fantastic.

I ordered a mixed grill with fries and unfortunately received fried potatoes instead. I thought, okay, except the fried potatoes weren't waxy. So think carefully before accepting it. Especially since the server specifically asked what the problem was. Therefore, only 1 star for the meal.

A cult pub. It feels like stepping back into the 70s. The food was good, traditional fare, really good and delicious. The service was very friendly and super fast. Anyone in Hamburg absolutely shouldn't miss this pub.

Yesterday evening at 5:30 pm, we reserved a table for four. When we arrived, we were given a table in the back room, which had all the charm of a waiting room, even though there were still tables available in the main dining area. We wanted to order drinks, but when the waiter came, he only accepted them after we insisted; he only wanted to take them along with our food order. Then our schnitzels arrived, and any fast-food joint could have done better. They weren't even remotely hot, and certainly not golden brown. The plate contained fried potatoes, salad, and the schnitzel on top. Unfortunately, we didn't complain. We paid and then saw the schnitzels on the plates of the other guests, which looked like proper schnitzels—golden-brown breading. The thought that we, as tourists, were ripped off with our bland schnitzels is, in my opinion, quite plausible.

Delicious. Good home-style cooking. But the service is a complete disaster. Today, I only got one drink in 1.5 hours.

It was very cold and drafty in the restaurant. I didn't like the veal schnitzel at all. The breading wasn't crispy, it was carelessly fried, and very sinewy. I assume it was kept warm in between servings. The fried potatoes weren't properly heated. There was far too little head cheese. The drink order arrived slowly and was partly incorrect. I won't be coming back and will instead cherish the good old days of Erika's Eck.

The value for money was disappointing compared to about 15 years ago. It's now more of a tourist trap looking for a typical Hamburg atmosphere. The vegetable side dish with the veal schnitzel (which, by the way, is considerably smaller than it used to be) looked like frozen vegetables and was rather unnecessary. I would have preferred more fried potatoes. The email reservation didn't work either. Despite the confirmation, the staff seemed surprised when we arrived, and we were quickly squeezed into a table with two other men.

A charming little restaurant in the Schanze district. Friendly people, delicious food, reasonable prices. If you're looking for something fancy, this isn't the place.

OK - I get the hype on Tripadvisor and promotion of german food culture, which also led ME to this place on a cold tuesday in November. At 1800pm, the place was PACKED but I was still kindly accepted to a shared 4 person table. Already socialy compromised, we were later joined by another THREE guys - now seated 5, we were litterally on top of each other. Not good. YES, they serve german food on large plates and the beer is cold and tall. But the quality of food is severly lacking - its to fast for too many guests. Schnitzel Wiener Art was medium size, dark, dry and tasted like...nothing. compliments were huge portion of overcooked roasted potatos (a pinnacle in german cuisine!), a slap of the usual unfreezed overboiled veg, and a sponful of the worst "salad" (=raw china cabage, what?), tomato vedge, and a 1/4 citrus. It tasted like NOTHING, unsalted, unbuttered, dry, no sauce, soft and bland. Which is usual for "german food", but it could be so much better. Total of EUR 31,30 for Schnitzel and one local beer is OK and I was out again within the hour. Waiter was waiving for extra tips. He didnt get any. Too much, too hasty, too many. Concentrate, please.

The food is good. The service is also reasonably good, but very overwhelmed. The ambiance is terrible, especially if you haven't made a reservation; you're put in a small, cramped white room next to the toilet, which completely ruins the atmosphere.

We waited 45 minutes for our drinks. When we wanted to pay individually, they rolled their eyes. It was loud. The portions are large, and the food arrived relatively quickly, but the whole place is a disaster in my opinion.

My friends and I dined here on Friday evening. We escaped the gloom of the November hamburg evening and were welcomed by the warmth and traditional atmosphere. The schnitzel was sublime and the curry wurst was one of the nicest we have had. Simply wunderbah!

We got a table without a reservation. And the hostess was so welcoming. The delicious meal at the end was the perfect finishing touch. We'd love to come back again.

We were traveling to Germany for the first time and stopped to have German cuisine. We noticed the restaurant was extremely busy on a Saturday night so we decided to do take out. We had the schnitzel and soup and it was delicious! The schnitzel meal had a larger quantity of potato on the side. It was a huge meal that we had leftovers for the next day.

Top-notch, a must for good food. This is Hamburg: Hanseatic and friendly. Very nice staff and owner, and the price and quality were perfectly fine. We'll gladly come back.

Generally, the food there is very good, I can confirm that from my previous visits. Unfortunately, I was disappointed yesterday: I ordered the Hawaiian schnitzel with curry sauce. The dish looked appetizing, as always, but the sauce had absolutely no flavor – it was clearly very watered down. After I complained, I was unfortunately served the same sauce again. Very disappointing, especially since even ketchup and mayo were charged extra. Overall, a huge disappointment, even though I usually really like the place. On top of that, they indirectly asked for a tip, which is unacceptable.

I've known Erika's Eck since the 1990s. For decades, it was a constant for excellent meat quality (because, of course, it was located right next to the slaughterhouse), making it a Hamburg institution, not just for those who revel in it after a night of heavy drinking. Last Saturday, I was there again after an admittedly very long time, and I was still being raved about the sensational schnitzels. There was a misunderstanding when ordering: The menu title says "Wiener Schnitzel," with "Wiener Art" underneath, meaning pork. Opposite me on the wall was "Wiener Schnitzel," the real thing. Everyone, no matter where you go to a restaurant on the planet, understands that to mean a real veal schnitzel. That's what it was called on the notice on the wall. There were four of us. Three women ordered the "real thing," but only one of them served the real thing. Two of them served the wrong kind of pork schnitzel. A discussion ensued with the wait staff. We were accused of ordering incorrectly, and my companion and I were accused of ordering incorrectly. After all, Wiener Schnitzel ALWAYS meant pork schnitzel. Sorry, that's an accusation from the service to the guest, you just have to let that sink in. In any case, I know that the guest is king, and that the service double-checks with the guest during the order to avoid such misunderstandings. The argument from the service, "Our Wiener Schnitzel is always pork," is cheeky. Well, the two fake Wiener Schnitzel were taken back after these discussions, and after a while, the "real ones" arrived. But: I have to be honest, I don't (anymore) understand the hype about the food at Erika's Eck! Okay, even back then, it was the case that it had to be a lot, so the guys would be full. But the quality was definitely different. And people actually went there mainly for the good atmosphere. Actually, the sight of such overflowing plates always makes me full. So be it. But I just don't like being ripped off. Underneath the new "real" Wiener Schnitzel was the now-lukewarm frozen "Leipziger Allerlei" (Leipziger Allerlei), next to it were the now-lukewarm fries, and on top of that was a schnitzel that was anything but tender, tasted of nothing, and, in my opinion, had been sitting in the kitchen pre-breaded for a long time before finally being finished off in the deep fryer. I'll be kind here and not imply that this was a frozen convenience schnitzel that doesn't cost 90 cents at retail. But: A real Wiener Schnitzel (a real restaurateur doesn't need to be explained to a guest that it's made from veal. Chefs and servers usually learn that from scratch during their training). And: A real Wiener Schnitzel comes out of the pan, the breading ripples. That way. And not otherwise. Period. Since I didn't want to spoil what had been a really nice day for my companion, I didn't say anything else. But: The "incident" here at Erika's Eck is exactly what's making me really angry. I don't want to spend money on convenience food and not "at least" semi-trained staff. Above all, I find €30 for a schnitzel and a cup of tea anything but good value. For those who don't know: There are actually still people who can cook for themselves and who don't allow any frozen or other highly processed food into their own kitchen. So my standard is: When I go out to eat, I firstly don't want to make a detrimental impression, and secondly, I want to be welcomed by the host. Am I because meanwhile the only one who, like the Italians, goes out to eat to be happy in company and not just to get full?

A true institution. I love eating the best Mett (meat and roast beef) rolls here at night. Friendly staff, caraway seeds on the house. Great.

Was looking to have a schnitzel on my last night in Hamburg, and came across this really lonely place. The stuff were so friendly and attentive, the food was really good and includes everything one needs in terms of nourishments (yes, it had veggies, who said schnitzel can't be healthy?!).

Big disappointment. We wanted to share a schnitzel because they were so big, and when they found out we were sharing, they charged us an extra €2.50 for giving us another plate. The schnitzel is a mediocre breaded steak with frozen fries; it's not worth more than €20. They also charged us extra for ketchup and mayonnaise... 🧍🏻‍♀️On the other hand, we shared the apfel strudel for dessert, and I've never seen one so small in my life—lots of cream and custard, but not much strudel. I was really looking forward to visiting this place because I thought it would offer affordable, quality German food, but it was a real disappointment.

Today, my son and I went to Erika's Eck – and it was exactly what you'd imagine authentic, North German home cooking to be. The small restaurant is quaint, down-to-earth, and has the unique charm of a traditional inn. Wood-paneled walls, old lamps, and a cozy atmosphere – you immediately feel welcome. The food? Generous portions and heartily delicious. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The peppercorn sauce was creamy and spicy, and the fries were fresh and crispy. The side salad was also crisp and went well with the hearty main course. A freshly tapped beer – it doesn't get much better than that. The service was friendly and quick, despite the restaurant being packed. No frills, just good food and a relaxed atmosphere. Just right for a relaxing evening with friends or family. The bottom line: If you're looking for authentic, honest food in Hamburg, Erika's Eck is the place to be. We'd love to come back!

We've been coming to Erika's Eck for decades, and I'm sorry I have to change my previous review. It's been under new management for quite some time now, and it's noticeable not only in the opening hours. Unfortunately, we have the impression that the quality of the food has declined considerably. On our last visit, for example, we ordered a large bottle of water. A carafe of water without a label was placed on the table, so we assumed it was just plain tap water, and for €7.50. No one asked if it tasted good or if anyone would like another drink. If you want to pay, you're asked to go to the counter and do so there, even though the place wasn't even half full. It's all these little things that have changed. In short, Erika's Eck is unfortunately just the name.

Erika's Eck is an absolute cult favorite. This was my first visit, and I'll be back. I love these old, iconic restaurants/pubs. They still serve home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Huge portions, so you have to fight to eat it all. I would recommend making a reservation, though, as there can be longer wait times if you don't have one.

It's an old place, but it has a very nice atmosphere. The coffee is also very good. You can't complain.

The food was good, the location authentic. We had reserved a table inside, but were only seated at the exact moment and waited outside, even though everything was already prepared. We found that rather odd. In the end, we moved outside anyway. The waitress was also unsure about our drink order, and the food ultimately arrived before the drinks, which shouldn't have happened. The payment process was also strange. They didn't take the cash outside at the table, but inside at the counter. However, we were only supposed to enter one at a time, so the rest went back outside and waited there. However, other guests came in to pay, and they suddenly found themselves ahead of us. We didn't see the point and went back inside, where there was already a long line waiting to pay the bills. This kind of guest treatment really annoyed us. The service was too chaotic for my taste. At least you could pay by card.

We've been there several times and were very satisfied. The schnitzels are excellent, the hamburgers are included, the service was great and relaxed, just the way we like it, and we were even lucky enough to get the last unreserved table. We'll be back.

I ordered food through Lieferando, and they forgot to send me the six drinks I ordered. I called the restaurant three times, and they never delivered. Terrible service. The food was dripping with oil.

We were there for the first time today, just the two of us, without a reservation. At first, they couldn't offer us a seat, even though there were a few free tables. Then they offered us a seat at a larger table. That was fine with us. What wasn't okay was that in the middle of our meal, we were asked to finish up slowly because the table was needed. Without any prior notice, we had to vacate the table and were "kicked out." In general, it must be said that we waited about 15 minutes before we could even place our order and be served. Service was nonexistent even after that. The food was okay. Nothing particularly good, but fine. At least it was while we were there. Now at home, both my wife and I are feeling unwell and have gastrointestinal problems. All in all, we probably won't go there again. What a shame
