Tim's Restaurant in Hamburg

This time, five of us were at a business dinner. My request to dine on the terrace was granted, with the recommendation that we could have our first drink outside, which was also wonderful, including the sunset at the harbor on the Elbe River in Hamburg. However, we were advised to move indoors for dinner. The dishes and especially the wine service were excellent and tailored to the diverse needs of our business partners. Thank you so much for that! The atmosphere in the large interior is architecturally designed to be very pleasant, providing a soundscape for great, loud, and entertaining conversations. A superb business evening. We were at TIms with business partners four weeks ago, and it was just as good again! Thank you!

We were there for lunch and were very impressed.

Excellent cuisine and a very chic ambiance. Given the rather high prices for the food, I was a bit apprehensive, but the quality and taste of all the dishes exceeded my expectations. Both the grilled octopus and the limoncello tiramisu had a wow effect like I haven't experienced in a long time.

A dream location with one of the most beautiful views of the Elbe! Where can you sit closer? A relaxed atmosphere with first-class, cheerful, and professional service, and the cuisine is second to none. Creative, perfectly balanced, and unpretentiously delicious! Unreservedly recommended!

Truly delicious food, and several waiters to ensure your physical well-being. The prices are high, but justified by the quality of the food. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible due to a step at the entrance; we had to bring a ramp. I find it very sad that Tim's Restaurant hasn't installed a ramp to make it wheelchair accessible. I don't know why the wheelchair symbol (not crossed out) appears under the name on Google Maps. The Info tab also states that there is an accessible entrance, which, as already mentioned, is incorrect. Despite editing the information, it hasn't been changed. It's a real shame, or rather, not inclusive.

We were there one weekday evening. I found it to be a solid restaurant without any highlights. The food was appealing, the service was friendly, and the German was at times rather poor. The view of the Elbe and the harbor was lovely, but the crowd was very small. The price was just about right for what was on offer. I won't be going back, though; there are countless more exciting restaurants with better value for money in Hamburg.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Tim's today. The service was excellent. The table was decorated appropriately for the occasion at my husband's request. We had the Elbe View menu and were thrilled. The very modern and wonderful interpretation of the farmer's breakfast deserves special mention. Terrible value for money. Everything is mediocre and the prices are very high. For example: An appetizer consisting of four small carrots with a little sauce for 18 euros. The bread served beforehand was rock hard. The dip that came with it had no flavor at all. The wines that accompany the meal aren't poured at the table. If you ask about the grape variety, you're met with questioning faces... A shop of swindlers, touts, and con artists. We'll never be back.

The two of us were there on Sunday to enjoy an early dinner with a great view of the Elbe. The AIDA cruise ship was just leaving. You couldn't have imagined a more harbor-like atmosphere! We chose the restaurant based on the chef's engaging YouTube video. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. Very high prices for small portions. The reception was very friendly, but the young, sturdy waiter should work on his manners and be more respectful towards guests over 50.

Ich war leider super enttäuscht. Es ist natürlich eine waschechte Premiumlocation, direkt an der Elbe, toll eingerichtet……..ABER: Das Essen war leider nicht gut. 3 Vorspeisen bestellt zum Teilen, das ein Tatar und eine Ceviche kalt sind, ist mir klar, aber halb gefroren? Hmmm. Die Veggi-Vorspeise, gegrillte Urmöhren ebenfalls am Gefrierpunkt? Hmmmmm. Nun gut, ganz grenzwertig wurde es dann mit der Rinderschulter für knapp €40 , sorry ich weiß nicht was ich dazu sagen soll 😳😳😳😳😳😳. Ernsthaft, einen Klacks Rindergulasch in einen Anrichtering pressen, 3 Stangen grünen Spargel dazu …………. Hmmmmmmmm. Nein, das war nicht gut. Finde ich wirklich superschade, der Laden hätte Potential.

We made an online reservation and got a great table right on the Elbe River. It was truly a perfect evening – the service was super friendly and explained the dishes, the food was creative and delicious, there was a nice wine selection with big names (but also smaller wineries are represented), and the ambiance on the terrace, as well as inside, is unparalleled in Hamburg. What really impressed us was the good value for money. We are thrilled and would love to come back! Many thanks to the entire team and the friendly host.

Two of us went to Tim's Restaurant and we'll never go back. We had a celebration, and the restaurant was informed. It was nice that we got our table right away, even though we were early. The ambiance was immediately very nice, and the table was also beautifully set. We had a table one evening at the beginning of the week, and it was moderately busy. But then it quickly became uncomfortable. The waiter had a very strong underarm smell, but he enjoyed flailing around with his arms while serving the dishes. He used informal language wherever he could, not realizing that we didn't want that. When we changed the wines, he placed the exchanged glasses on the shelf at the corner of the table and didn't clear them away. We had to ask another waiter to do it. The wines weren't particularly select; most weren't available at all, or were simply due to a change; you could only choose between two types of wine by the glass. In a restaurant like this, we naturally expect refined slow food. Instead, we were treated like this: We'd just finished our aperitif when the starter was served to us. We'd barely finished it when our plates were snatched away and the intermediate course was served, all while the waiter was sweating profusely. Meanwhile, the table next to us also complained about the quality of the food, saying they expected something different. When we said we'd like the next course served at a slower pace, the service went to the other extreme: In the meantime, a group of eight people had arrived at the restaurant, which was already sparsely attended that evening, and we had to wait over 45 minutes for our main course. The reason given was that the tour group had been given priority at our request. Finally, to celebrate the day, there was a sweet greeting from the kitchen, but unfortunately, it didn't make up for what we'd experienced earlier. Finally, the bill was also incorrect – to our detriment, of course – and we didn't leave a tip, which was then met with a completely unreflective "That's fine too." No questions asked about what was wrong, etc. At the beginning of the evening, we even considered having a cocktail there to celebrate the occasion, as the bar is very well-stocked, but after the whole experience, we declined. From our point of view, this is clearly a no-go in Hamburg.

We had a wonderful evening with the delicious 4-course menu. Each course was so delicious that we would eat the same thing again anytime. The service was excellent, everyone was friendly, and we were completely impressed by this restaurant. Between courses, we could decide for ourselves whether we wanted to continue or if we needed a break. All the service staff were very attentive. This time we booked through Hidden Table and thus decided on the menu in advance, but a quick look at the menu convinced us to go that way next time. Tim's Restaurant will definitely be on our list of restaurants to visit during our visits to Hamburg. Thanks for the pleasant evening! P.S. And the view of the water is a bonus!

Guter Service, tolle Rouille zur Vorspeise. Spargel mit Avocado eher langweilig. Eventuell die Tomatenessenz etwas mehr andicken, damit sie sich besser um den Spargel legt (Xanthan). Pasta im Hauptgang /über/kocht, Salsiccia /ge/kocht - nicht gebraten. Eher nur das Brät nutzen. Käse 23€ - WOW für die Qualität - einfach zu teuer. Guter Wein, gute Aussicht.

The price/performance ratio isn't right at all. The service was unfortunately incompetent, and the "Ur-Karotte" appetizer was way overpriced at €18.

Wir hatten die diesjährige Aktion des Abendblatt Lieblingsmenüs mitgemacht und uns für Tims Restaurant entschieden. Bekannt war uns die location noch als La Vela. Die Bestuhlung in diesem sehr großen Raum ist für unsere Begriffe zu eng und erinnert fast an ein französisches Bistro. Wir hatten für 18:00 reserviert und bekamen einen zweier Tisch am äußersten Rand an der Aussentür. Es blieb weitgehend leer und deshalb ist es umso unverständlicher, dass ein anderes Paar, das auch das Lieblingsmenue gewählt hatte, 50 cm neben uns platziert wurde. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis ist ok, die Speisen sind von herausragender Qualität, obwohl recht übersichtlich, der Service etwas steif und der Wein wird doch reichlich spärlich eingeschenkt.

We can't agree with the negative review at all and are somewhat appalled by the verdict. A wonderfully attentive and always courteous service team presented us with the 5-course dream menu professionally and with personal charm. From a warm welcome from the very beginning to the delicious culinary delights until the very end, it was a perfect evening. Come and experience it for yourself. It's definitely worth it. We became aware of this through the favorite menu and will certainly not be the last time we'll be here. Thanks to everyone.

The food was delicious but the portions were too small for the price. We were still very hungry after the starter and main course. We went elsewhere for dessert because we didn't like the service at all. They were very pushy, didn't give us any time between courses even though we asked, and were even a bit condescending to the young women at our table. All in all, it was too expensive for what was on offer, and we recommend going elsewhere.

Food was okay. Service maybe the worst in Hamburg. They insist on providing wine service themselves, so the bottle isn’t left at the table — yet the wine glass stays empty for half the evening. It seems like they’re not really interested in selling wine. Even after telling them several times on the spot nothing changed. Service very arrogant.

The food, interior, and ambiance of the restaurant were fantastic, creative, and elegant. It's a shame that the high standards of cuisine and architecture are met with such poor customer service. With 3-4 tables initially occupied, all seemingly uncomplicated, the two men in charge of the entire restaurant seemed irritated, performing their duties correctly but grumpily. Midlife crisis? Language barrier? Poor pay? In any case, we didn't feel welcome; it was certainly our first and last time there.

A few days ago, I was here with a friend. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We shared a "Two Kinds of Sorbet," and it was a real treat! Very, very tasty! The service was friendly and attentive. Since the wind was blowing briskly around the corner, we were given cozy blankets. After a long walk along the Elbe, a stop at Tim's Restaurant is a perfect end to the day. I highly recommend it. And I'm looking forward to the next time.

Mediocre experience. Service outright bad. Food okay, but not impressive. Business dinner of 8 persons, drinks, starter, main course and wine. After having waited a long time for starters, it took another 1,5hour to get the main courses, and then they had forgotten one. 7 mains for a party of 8 didn't trigger anything...waited another 15min on the missing main. No apologies or anything during payment and I decided not to give any extra tips - which made the waiter annoyed and directly blaming me I did not pay up. Had expected more based on the reviews, now Tim's has been tried but will not recommend the place.

It's possible that I'm already a little drunk, but you have to try Tim's. We were here for the Hamburger Abendblatt's Favorite Menu campaign and it was incredible value for money. A 5-course menu with (generous) wine accompaniment. I don't want to go into too much detail, but the 65 degree organic egg farmer's breakfast was worth highlighting. We found it outstanding in terms of interpretation and quality. The service was exceptionally friendly, which is often underestimated when it comes to a nice meal.

Thank you for a great evening in the restaurant. We'll be back! A warm welcome, followed by attentive and courteous service and an outstanding 4-course menu were a perfect end to an eventful day in Hamburg. The children's meal for our son was a hit and was completely eaten!

The two of us spent a wonderful evening here. There was a four-course menu, which tasted at a high level, a composition of acid, sweet and salty was a real taste explosion in the mouth. The service is very personal but unobtrusive and I would be happy to come here again. The potion sizes are sufficient for a four-course menu and there was lukewarm, homemade bread with a paprika dip. The view of the harbor was impressive and I would like to thank you for the lovely evening.

Very cool restaurant with a great location at the Hamburg fish market. As soon as you enter the restaurant you immediately notice that this place is special. Great, nice service with… who watches Aida as she leaves. The food was really awesome. Once again, things that you have never eaten before in this form and combination. Very poor service. Long wait for service and food. Waited for half an hour for the waiter to take the order then took an hour and a half for the food to come. Very disappointed. Waiter just offered 2 glasses of wine after an hour wait. We left the place without a dessert as I can imagine how long it will take to wait for a desert too! We asked 2 times for still water service, we finally got it after 20 mins wait. When we wanted to leave, it took the concierge 10 mins to find our coats.

Great food, but we waited for the main dish more than 1 hour. Would be great if the personell would just let us know they are fully booked and might take a while…for a dinner of 200+ EUR per couple it’s a bit of low service. I wouldn’t come here again, though the food was really tasty. :(

Unfortunately a very disappointing experience. The service was not only extremely slow, but also arrogant and inattentive - we had to ask several times to even be served. Particularly annoying: The menu could not be changed, while at the neighboring table exactly that was possible. The pace between courses was also much too fast, so we barely had time to enjoy the meal in peace. However, using our voucher book is an absolute no-go. Although we were supposed to get a main course for free, we were refused redemption on the grounds that the restaurant “also has to make money”. A more than questionable way of dealing with customers! The food was far too expensive for what was on offer. Neither the quality nor the portion size justified the price. In addition, the tables are so close together that you can eat with your neighbor. Overall, a very disappointing experience - we definitely won't eat here again.

The staff were excellent in every respect - professional, attentive and with a remarkable poise! Every wish was practically read from the lips, and yet the service never seemed intrusive, but simply perfectly coordinated. I was impressed by the personal care provided by the owner, who is there for his guests with real passion and heart and soul. This personal touch makes the visit something very special. Everything – from the ambience to the food to the service – was of the highest standard. I couldn't have asked for a better place for my birthday celebration and I will remember this evening for a long time. As another Tim and lover of exquisite food, I was lured to this enchanting establishment by the inexpensive lunch offer. Tim took my jacket as I entered the restaurant before an attentive young man seated me. I can't sit well in the sun; my blue eyes seem to be a little more sensitive to the sometimes sharp rays of the sun. A sight that gives me a migraine. The waiter saw my look in a very short time, interpreted it and brought me to a table that I would have chosen in exactly the same way. I was promptly handed some home-baked bread and a creamy cream cheese on flavored oil. This hits the mark for me personally. What bliss! The waiter already had an idea that I had come for lunch. That's not unusual for 12 o'clock, but he also suspected that I was here specifically for the fish and chips. Maybe it was just good advice, but as someone who works in the service sector myself, I recognize this attention and, as a result, acknowledge it. A little later the main course arrived with lemonade (my favorite choice with fish and chips) and I was really amazed: In London I tried fish and chips from the harbor to snack bars to fine restaurants and rarely had the same enjoyment as I did here. The tartar sauce is a dream that, in hindsight, I can't decode with any certainty. The salad was varied, complex and complemented the crispy and juicy fish perfectly. The fries were probably double fried and well salted. The portion was larger than expected, but it was a bit inconvenient to eat it from the metal basket. Overall, I would give at least a 9/10 and also try other dishes here. But only for lunch, because the prices are really a reflection of the good location, to put it euphemistically. Honestly, just look at the food. You didn't even need to read the novel here because the pictures speak for themselves. I just like writing. Best regards to the kitchen, to the waiters and to Tim. Ich hatte das große Vergnügen, meinen Geburtstag in diesem wunderbaren Restaurant zu feiern, und es war eine Erfahrung, die ich nicht so schnell vergessen werde. Das Personal war in jeder Hinsicht exzellent – professionell, aufmerksam und mit einer bemerkenswerten Souveränität ! Jeder Wunsch wurde praktisch von den Lippen abgelesen, und trotzdem wirkte der Service niemals aufdringlich, sondern einfach perfekt abgestimmt. Beeindruckt hat mich auch die persönliche Betreuung durch den Eigentümer, der mit echter Leidenschaft und Herzblut für seine Gäste da ist. Diese persönliche Note macht den Besuch zu etwas ganz Besonderem. Alles – vom Ambiente über das Essen bis hin zum Service – war auf höchstem Niveau. Ich hätte mir keinen besseren Ort für meine Geburtstagsfeier wünschen können und werde diesen Abend noch lange in Erinnerung behalten. Ich kann dieses Restaurant uneingeschränkt empfehlen und freue mich schon auf meinen nächsten Besuch!

At first glance we liked the great location with the beautiful view of the Elbe and the tasteful furnishings of the restaurant. Tim’s also impresses with its casual, attentive and charming service. The restaurant offers special dishes with fresh ingredients, whether fish, meat or vegetarian. For example, we really enjoyed the baked beets King oyster mushroom, wasabi and truffle potato. Such a beautiful new restaurant right on the Elbe is worth a visit, we thought, so we reserved a table for today and announced ourselves for lunch. Tim has decorated the former La Vela very nicely. Earth tones predominate. It's very cozy here. In the back there is a separate room for small celebrations for up to 35 people. The lunch menu sounded very good. There were also two daily specials. We decided on one of today's two daily specials, crispy zander fillet I Riesling foam | Peperonata | Goat cheese arancini. Not only was the lunch beautifully decorated, but it also tasted delicious. We then decided on cheesecake crème with crumble and pear ragout. The dessert was also to die for. Tim is not only a very attentive and good host, his food and the restaurant in general invite you to come back.

Das Lokal ist schön gelegen direkt am Wasser. Der Service war freundlich und entspannt. Wir haben drei Gänge genommen und das Essen hat uns durchgängig gut geschmeckt und gefallen. Als wir das Lokal besucht haben war es jedoch wenig frequentiert. Uns hat der Besuch Spaß gemacht. Wir haben einen schönen Abend verlebt und würden wieder kommen.

I've been to Tim's for dinner 4 times now. Culinary first class every time! Best location, attentive service and the food is superbly prepared and presented with an eye for detail. Completely consistent!

Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis würde ich als gut aber eben nicht hervorragend verstehen, da ich aus meiner Sicht das 3 Gang Menü und auch das 5 Gang Menü etwas günstiger angeboten hätte. Natürlich ist mir die schwierige Lage der Restaurants bewusst, und ich denke dass der Preis aufgrund der Lage des Restaurants dann doch gerechtfertigt ist, deshalb die Bewertung mit gut.

Es war ein äußerst angenehmer und schöner Abend, mit sehr gutem Essen und sehr gutem Wein. Das Ambiente war sehr angenehm, der Ausblick ist einmalig.

Wir hatten uns als Familie einen kulinarischen 2ten Weihnachtstag außerhalb der eigenen Küche gewünscht und die verwegene Idee etwas Neues neben den traditionellen alteingesessenen Restaurants an der Hamburger Elbe auszuprobieren. Auf Empfehlung der freundlichen Dame, die unsere Reservierung am Telefon entgegen nahm, kamen wir nach der mittaglichen Stoßzeit, um es "etwas weniger hecktisch" zu haben. So war es denn auch, das Personal aß am Tresen und leere Getränkekisten wurden an uns vorbei durch den Laden geschoben und entsorgt. Der Kellner dutzte wie selbstverständlich, so fühlten wir uns gleich wie unter besten Freunden. Auch dass die vom mittaglichen Hauptgeschäft übrig gebliebenen vor dekorierten Teller mit bereits leicht angetrocknetem "Soßen"fleck zum "Mousse" von der Gänseleber, das Gänsefleisch typische im Mund krümelig anmutende Einschlüsse hatte, sicher um darauf hinzuweisen, dass es sich wirklich um echtes verwendetes Gänsefleisch handelte, bescherte uns ein Gefühl von Nachhaltigkeit und Innovation. Die schwere Sahnesuppe, die dieser sehr großgeratenen Gänseterrine in Begleitung von einem Pistaziensahneeis und einem nicht genießbaren Brioche folgte, war für die unter uns, die Ihren Fokus ursprünglich auf den Hauptgang gelegt hatten, ein reiner Segen. Die Appetitkurve hatte erfolgreich den Nullpunkt erreicht, womit die aufgewärmten zähen Gänseteile des Hauptganges keinen wirklichen Verlust mehr für uns darstellen konnten. Nun wollen wir das Dessert nicht außer Acht lassen, dieses war zumindest ambitioniert. Wir möchten der Kommentierung einer anderen Renzension durch Herrn Tim Lang am 23.10.24 "Vielleicht nicht Ihr Restaurant" ergänzend hinzufügen: Vielleicht eher ein Restaurant für Touristen, die den Elbblick genießen möchten, als Hamburger, die lieber ein paar Euro mehr für ein Essen ausgeben und dafür wirklich gut und frisch zubereitet essen.

Ein Restaurant für den besonderen Anlass. Wer gern für Qualität und Service etwas mehr ausgibt ist hier bestens aufgehoben.

Wir hatten einen netten Abend im Tim's. Das Ambiente ist wirklich schön und der Blick auf den Hafen bei Nacht wirklich toll. Kulinarisch gesehen war es in Ordnung, aber im Verhältnis zum Preisniveau leider auch nichts Besonderes. Mein Hirschrücken war leider nicht so zart, wie ich es anderenorts zu günstigerem Preis genossen habe. Das beiliegende Püree war ok, aber ich hatte ein kleines, brotartiges Gebäck auf dem Teller, das nicht nur extrem trocken, sondern leider auch total geschmacksfrei war und mir hat sich so gar nicht erschlossen, welchen Mehrwert das jetzt für die Speise haben sollte. Es ließ sich dann mit der zum Glück leckeren, wie auch reichlich vorhanden Sauce aufweichen und verspeisen. Die Lage und das Ambiente fordern nachvollziehbarer Weise ein gewisses Preisgefüge, was ich deshalb auch grundsätzlich immer gerne zahle. Gerade die hochwertige Gastronomie hat es diesertage aus verschiedenen Gründen nicht leicht zu bestehen und muss aus meine Sicht gefördert werden. Es wäre eben nur schön, wenn die Speisen dann auch entsprechend erstklassig kämen, das hätte ich mir an diesem Abend noch etwas anders gewünscht als erhalten. Nicht missverstehen: das Essen war durchaus ok bis gut, aber leider nicht mehr.

Eine sehr schöne Location, vielleicht ein bisschen laut. Ein super freundliches Service-Team. Wir hatten noch einen Anschlusstermin, wollten uns aber das Drei-Gang-Menu nicht entgehen lassen, hat super geklappt, ohne, es hektisch geworden ist. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder, leider ist die Anreise etwas weit. Liebe Grüße aus Berlin PS das Video von dem Restaurant bei Sturmflut hat uns sehr beeindruckt.

Das Essen bei Tims war kreativ und hervorragend zubereitet, die Atmosphäre modern und gemütlich, und der Service freundlich. Insgesamt ein toller Nachmittag– wir kommen gerne wieder!
