Nice restaurant with lots of traditional dishes. Historical ambience creates a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Very nice old brewery, great food and good service

There were three of us. The food was very dry, regardless of whether it was fries, Maultschen or kettle cake, which was really served as a cake and also dry. It had little to do with casserole, as written and known. Service good and ambience OK

Reasonable prices, mostly between €10 and €20, which is what you'll pay even in Slovakia (for semi-finished products or small portions). And as for the service, it's also 5*. Nice, quick and talkative. Of course, it was not possible without a tringelt. If you want to get to know German cuisine and eat well at reasonable prices, I definitely recommend stopping here. Decent brewery, unfortunately quite intrusive service with little sense of how often and when to ask "if everything is okay". Food (cheese spaetzle) was mixed. Drinks came quickly. Plus point: Vegan dishes on the menu.

Onlinereservierung für für Sonntag 18Uhr 2 Personen verlief reibungslos. Zugewiesener Tisch ok und das Essen und die Getränke wurden vom durchweg freundlichem Personal serviert. Fragen, z.B. warum der Blanc de Noir von der Ahr (übrigens empfehlenswert) den Zusatz 1. FC Köln hat, wurden beantwortet. Alles in Allem ein sehr zufriedenstellender Besuch im "EM Höttchen"

Es gibt in tolle Mittagskarte, aber von dieser darf man nicht bestellen, wenn man einen tisch reserviert hat. Das ist sehr eigenartig!

Eine abwechslungsreiche Speisekarte mit rheinischen Gerichten, das Essen kam schnell und war schmackhaft, die Getränke-Versorgung klappte ebenfalls gut und die gemütliche Brauhausatmosphäre hat zu einem gelungenen Abend beigetragen.

The reception was very nice, as was the service, but we were neither asked during the meal nor whether it was tasty. We ordered roast goose and roulade. The skin from the roast was very greasy, the dumplings were tasteless and the sauce was much too thick, almost lumpy and unseasoned. The roulade was at most lukewarm, filled with indefinable ingredients apart from the cucumber and the sauce was also unseasoned. We also had a touch of sauce on the plate. No gravy boat to give in and when we ordered more sauce, we were charged for it at the end. Outrageous with these dishes!!

It's a nice address but very loud, I mean really loud! The food is good, there is also decent beer, but when the Höttche is busy, something gets lost in the order and comes very late, or not at all. Nevertheless, the service is very good and the guests are friendly. The prices are acceptable. All in all a good address.

Worst goose breast we have ever eaten. But it cost an expensive 29 euros. The skin was not crispy, but very, very fatty, the dumplings were completely unseasoned, the red cabbage was indefinably terribly seasoned. The sauce was very slippery and nothing special. We were hungry and ate some of it, but left most of it lying around. The fact that we weren't even asked whether it was tasty is a deep insight. It's a shame, we would have liked to come to eat more often. But you don't dare try anything else.

Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Main meals very good. For dessert, apple strudel was served with waffle dough instead of vanilla sauce and it was emphatically claimed that it was real vanilla sauce. Only when the staff tried it did they realize that it was probably waffle batter. A new dessert was served later, but without vanilla sauce because it suddenly ran out. No discount. Too bad.

A typical Rhineland inn. Hearty food, lots of Kölsch and quick service. Noise level like in the main train station. But you should definitely go there, otherwise something cultural is missing.

A very bad service. The waiter was incredibly rude to us women. He came to us and said "the table will be reserved soon and "goodbye". There were 10 tables free. I am a constant customer. I have never experienced such bad treatment. Bad treatment of women. I had this attitude scared. I often visited Em Höttche with my colleagues, but not anymore. The waiter who communicated so poorly with us was an older thin (not tall) man. He served the tables near the entrance.

The ambience is unbeatable. Very quaint and you can stay inside for a long time. The food was very tasty. The portion could have been a little larger, but it was very well balanced for the price. The waitress would have liked to have been able to come to the table more often to order drinks, but it was also very full and the table was very far back. Still a very good service for the requirements. Nice and quick!

Great atmosphere and extremely good staff...food great

Service very attentive, food unfortunately below average. I had a knuckle with dumplings and sauce. The knuckle was small but tasted okay, the dumplings were hard on the inside and the sauce had no taste. We actually had to give my wife's ox cheeks back. Thin slices of sausage with an indefinable consistency. Maybe the cook was off, but unlikely on a Saturday evening. On a positive note, I can say that the service was very attentive and the Gaffel-Kölsch was very tasty.

I have been a guest several times in the past and have always been very satisfied. Unfortunately I can't say that this time. I ordered my second Kölsch three times until it finally came and waited half an hour for it. For the goose leg, the sauce, dumplings and apple were okay. The leg was cooked through, but considering that it was supposed to have been made in the oven, the skin was very soft and not crispy. I know things differently from before here. Overall, I hope that it will be more worthwhile to visit here again in the future.

A must when visiting Bonn. Very quaint and cozy. The food is good and rustic in keeping with a brewery. Guys, order the goulash soup, that alone has always been a magnet for me.

Unfortunately the service wasn't very attentive. Had to wait a long time for the drinks. After the meal the empty plates were not cleared away. The food (schnitzel with fries) was so well.

I ONLY gave 3 stars for the ambience because I find it very unprofessional to do construction work while the restaurant is in operation. That's absolutely not possible in a restaurant. Otherwise the ambience would have gotten 5 stars because the house is simply enchanting. The food was excellent , simply delicious. Had the beef liver 🙂 The service was also first class. So friendly, professional and simply invigorating. Rarely have I seen someone who does their job with so much humor and you just feel good. Thank you Martina. We're coming definitely again.

One of the last inns in Bonn. You should order the Rhenish beer culture as a small Kölsch, otherwise there will be steins. 😔

Unser reservierter Tisch stand zur Verfügung. Leider sind die Tische zu eng aufgestellt. Ich wünsche mir etwas mehr Platz. Die Bedienung war sehr nett, allerdings waren unsre Gläser mehrfach etwas länger leer. Es war allerdings, wie überall, zu wenig Personal dort. Also bestes Verständnis, dass es manchmal ein bisschen langsamer ging. Das Essen war gut und wir werden wiederkommen.

A brewery, very loud. I ordered half a rooster (Röggelchen with cheese). The lower half was relatively easy to bite off and chew. The top half, usually the tastiest part, was unfortunately so hard that it was almost impossible to bite off. Apart from chewing, only possible with a drink. I gave up after a quarter. 8.90 euros an expensive experience. In addition, after we had paid, we were also asked to free the table for new guests. There were enough other free places available. I have never experienced such outrageousness in my entire life. I definitely won't be entering this store again.

Es war nicht richtig viel los aber trotzdem hat es schon ein bisschen gedauert bis wir die Getränke und Essen bekommen haben. Essen war mittelmäßig, weil sie nicht so gut gewürzt waren und die vegetarischen Gerichte waren nur so la la.

Rude as hell. They don't have an English menu and if you ask for it they treat you badly. Then they rush you to order, they can't stand having to wait for someone to translate the dishes one by one with Google. Since we had ordered 2 courses, they only brought cutlery for 2 people, even though our daughter was also there, and when we asked for an extra plate and fork they brought a ridiculous saucer in a huff. Even the wipes were counted, and when we asked for an extra towel they gave us a rude answer. To pay then I had to wait 10 minutes even though I was in a hurry. The food may even be good, although the schnitzel tasted too fried, the oil was obviously old. But it's just not worth being treated so badly anyway. Also very high prices.

Unfortunately I can't rate the food because it probably won't happen. But I can tell you about my experience there today. Late at noon I entered the empty dining room to reserve a table. It took 10 minutes until I expressed my wish in a friendly manner to a lady rushing past and received a monosyllable "moment" in return. The moment lasted 5 minutes when Lady 1 passed my plan on to Lady 2, who then replied even more rudely: "No, we won't do anything like that. We don't have time for that now." Aha. Astonished, I answered why they had left me standing for almost 15 minutes to tell me that they weren't willing to reserve a table for me. I was loudly answered with the words that I could have said whatever I wanted and that I should go and reserve somewhere else ! joh. THAT is what I call kindness! Thank you. You won't see me and my friends again. In any case, the competitor around the corner was happy about the reservation.

My food was okay. However fried was disgusting!!! Order any other food except Blutwurst!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant Em Höttche in Bonn and I absolutely loved it! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the food is excellent, but what made this visit particularly memorable was the service. Waitress Martina was incredibly friendly, attentive and professional. Not only did she give us the best recommendations, but she was always there to help without seeming intrusive. Her warm smile and courteous manner rounded off the evening perfectly. Many thanks to the entire team, especially Martina, for this wonderful experience. I'll definitely be back!

4 service staff very inattentive. Suddenly five people had 12 glasses on the table. New beer was brought but not cleared away, as were the plates. On Metthappen, Kölsche caviar Waited 45 minutes and it wasn't full.

Very cozy brewery in the heart of the old town. I visited there to show my Mexican friend Rhenish food. He liked it very much, and so did I. :-) Price-performance ratio is right. Clear recommendation, especially if you are looking for good German cuisine. Clear recommendation.

Eat and drink deliciously in nice surroundings. The umbrellas make it too warm outside in the summer evenings (heat builds up under the umbrellas). Staff seems disorganized, asks for requests too rarely and forgets orders.

The four of us had a very hearty meal and the price-performance ratio was absolutely fine. The service outside was friendly and very attentive - we felt very comfortable. The partly “hearty” menu offers something for everyone, but unfortunately we overlooked a special additional summer menu. We will be back!!!

A great experience! The food was perfect (although the portions are manageable - you should take starters and desserts into account here). The taste is insane. The building: The oldest restaurant in Bonn - with origins in 1300 something and lots of history - very impressive and great dishes!

Had a veal schnitzel with potato salad. The potato salad probably came from a bucket and tasted very sour. The salmon carpaccio was almost inedible. Simply pour vinegar over smoked salmon slices! When I asked whether a new chef or owner was running the house, I received no answer. A few months ago the quality was significantly better! Too bad and annoying!!!!

Good traditional German food. Great atmosphere, as it’s placed close to a beautiful building and is in a town square. The staff were a little impatient (possibly do to us not understanding what the dishes were, as we don’t speak German).

Service great! The elevator is a disaster, the toilet is ancient, super small, lighting on the lower floor is underground... The food was mediocre and looked like mostly ready-made mixed salads from the supermarket. Not recommended at all.

A real Bonn veteran and just as cozy. We had a gathering table with guests from all over Germany and the nicest evening ever. The service, which was all about having fun, rounded off the successful evening perfectly. We'll definitely be back 👍
