The service was truly excellent – ​​attentive, friendly, and quick. The food was also delicious and freshly prepared. One criticism: The dining room was quite noisy; I was alone and had a single seat directly behind a man, with my back to him. Overall, though, a highly recommended restaurant.

A truly authentic brewery right next to the town hall. The service is good and the food is delicious! And although I don't necessarily prefer Gaffel Kölsch, it's really good here, thanks to the special tap system.

Em Höttche has a beautiful location in the heart of Bonn and a very pleasant, traditional atmosphere. The staff was polite, and the beef goulash I had as a starter was genuinely very good – flavorful, comforting and a strong beginning to the meal. Unfortunately, the main course ruined the experience. I ordered the Original Wiener Schnitzel (veal), and while the meat itself wasn’t bad, the breading was extremely poorly executed. Instead of being light and crispy, it was thick, greasy and soggy – so heavy that the dish became almost inedible and very hard to digest. On top of that, the breading had black burnt specks, strongly suggesting that old oil was used for frying (?!) For a dish priced above €25 in a restaurant with this reputation, such preparation is simply unacceptable. It wasn’t the quality of the meat that failed, but the technique, attention, and standards in the kitchen. The restaurant’s history and charm deserve much better. If the kitchen cannot properly prepare one of the most iconic dishes of Central European cuisine, then they urgently need to rethink both their methods and priorities — otherwise even the best location won’t save them from disappointing their guests.

• Our small group of six had made a reservation and arrived promptly at 1 p.m. "Em Höttche" was very busy, including a wedding party. • The very friendly and attentive staff showed us to our reserved table. But then... • The beef consommé with garnish, completely over-seasoned and served lukewarm, was an insult to our taste buds! • Mineral water at room temperature was unavailable upon request. • The Rhenish Sauerbraten also had to be eaten quickly because it arrived at the table already lukewarm. ● Conclusion: I expected more from a restaurant of this size in a central location. The price-performance ratio was therefore not acceptable, and the experience was more than disappointing.

A very nice, friendly, and attentive waitress. We've been going there regularly for 15 years, eating together every week. However, the meal here (sauerbraten, duck breast, and Käsespätzle) was the worst meal we've had in years. The meat was so dry, the red cabbage tasteless, and the dumplings practically raw. What a shame, for such a beautiful old restaurant in Bonn.

The drinks were the only thing that was okay; the food quality for the price was abysmal. The table for two was tiny, even though there were plenty of free tables at 5 pm and no signs indicated that reservations were coming soon. The staff kept shuffling people around, and half of one family's food ended up next to their plate and under the table thanks to the children. No one asked if we enjoyed our meal, even though we clearly left food on our plates. The quality has simply deteriorated too much over the years. Sorry, I can't recommend it!

I was very disappointed with the food, "Himmel un Ääd" (a traditional dish of mashed potatoes and applesauce). The blood sausage was in a hard casing, with the consistency of a bratwurst. Last call was at 11:30 pm, and unlike other guests, we weren't offered anything to drink, even though our group of 30 ate a considerable amount.

Because we were foreigners, they made us pay in cash even though it said they were 'card friendly'. What's more, we paid with a larger bill and they tried to overcharge us, saying they didn't have change. All for a measly 20 cents. Shameful.

My 4th brauhaus experience; first and only in Bonn (rest in Köln). Efficient and pleasant service; food arrived quickly and was a good portion and tasty. Lovely building with traditional heavy wooden carving and ironwork. My only minor quibble relates to the tables and crockery, which would be appropriate for a hotel canteen but have no depth of character.

The restaurant's location and decor are truly beautiful—an atmospheric interior and a pleasant environment to linger in. Unfortunately, that's where it ends. The food mostly seems to be made from ready-made products, rather than freshly prepared. Particularly disappointing: the Aperol Spritz—watered down and lacking in flavor, truly no comparison to what you'd expect. The prices, on the other hand, are very high and bear no relation to the quality offered.

One star for zero availability. When I call, a recording starts playing, saying the date I'd like to arrive. Then the voice wants to transfer me to customer service, where the recording starts playing again and repeats the same thing. I then sent an email. No response to this day. Apparently, they don't need any more guests.

It was once again very good here. We were here with about 20 people, and our orders were taken relatively quickly, table by table – excellent food!

We were here with a mixed group (50 people) of French and German tourists. The reservation was made six months in advance and confirmed by email. After that, however, it was impossible to establish proper contact. A call back only came after several inquiries. Despite having chosen the menu beforehand, there was unfortunately no menu available, which made ordering complicated. The staff hadn't been informed the day before. The food was plentiful and delicious. The service saved us, ensuring a smooth and prompt service. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant stay. We would gladly return...

One of the five meals was cold. After complaining, the plate came back within a minute with hot fries. Typical microwave case. At the neighboring table, two of the four meals were cold. The veal liver was a bit tough, and the mashed potatoes were like paste.

The food is delicious, and the Kölsch beer tastes divine! The menu features a selection of regional classics. The service is very friendly and helpful. We felt very well looked after and will definitely be back.

Fantastic restaurant. We had the Rheinischer Genuss (Rhineland delight)! A true delight! The ambiance was superb! Great decorations! If we ever come back to Bonn, we'll eat there again.

During our meal, a mouse ran through the restaurant near the kitchen. When I informed the waitress, she made fun of me, saying the mouse's name was Emma and that it was normal for mice to run through the restaurant. After all, we were in the city center. I don't think that's normal and would have preferred a different reaction.

After 20 minutes of being ignored by the waiters, I got up. They didn't offer me a menu or a drink, and they quickly looked away when I looked at them. Luckily, there's a huge selection in Bonn, so I don't have to put myself through that. It was also a recommendation from a work colleague. Terrible.

On August 14, we enjoyed a pre-wedding dinner at Em Höttche in Bonn with our international wedding guests. We were looking for a centrally located venue in Bonn with traditional food, good drinks, and an ambiance that immediately evokes a sense of Germany – and that's exactly what we got. It was a wonderful evening with delicious German dishes, accompanied by good wine and fresh beer on tap. Communication before and during the evening itself was straightforward, cooperative, and very professional. A special thank you goes to the lady who looked after our group (36 people!) excellently in both German and English – always attentive, friendly, and perfectly organized. The portions were generous, and the empty plates spoke for themselves. Many thanks to the entire team – both in front of and behind the scenes – for this perfect start to our wedding weekend. We will definitely be back and can highly recommend Em Höttche to everyone!

Awful food and hospitality. We ordered the liver and it was old, clearly expired and inedible. When we returned our plates which had barely been touched there was no reaction from the kitchen and not even a slight compensation for the awful food. Won’t be going back there ever again. On the plus side our waiter was nice but the rest was a waste of time and money.

A Disaster at Em Höttche: A Textbook Example of Poor Catering My visit to Em Höttche was a complete disappointment and a lesson in how to ruin a dining experience from the ground up. As a trained hotel manager, I'm used to paying attention to details, and what I experienced here defies description. The wait itself was outrageous: Over an hour for a single dish is unacceptable, especially when you see how tables that arrived significantly later than us received their food. This indicates not only chaotic kitchen organization, but also a lack of coordination in the service. When we exasperatedly asked for the bill after more than an hour, a disgraceful spectacle began: Instead of complying with our request, repeated attempts were made to change our minds. Suddenly, a dish appeared – but with the wrong side dish. Further evidence of a lack of care and communication between the kitchen and the service. Even after we repeatedly emphasized that we wanted to pay and leave, we were persistently offered a coffee to keep us in the restaurant. This behavior is not only intrusive, but also disrespectful of the guest's time. It creates the impression that the restaurant is trying to generate revenue by any means necessary, without regard for the customer's satisfaction or wishes. Even beyond the waiting drama, there were numerous points that point to a questionable cost-cutting policy and are simply unacceptable: * Beverage selection: The absence of common standard drinks like real Coke from the menu is a clear sign of cost-cutting at the expense of quality and guest expectations. * Card payments under €10: Such a restriction on card payments is something you'd only find at a kiosk, but not at a restaurant that claims to be professional. This is customer-unfriendly and comes across as petty. * Service vacuum: During the entire wait, the server never came to our table to ask for more drinks or to shorten our wait. The fact that the server was aware of the long wait ("I know" when we pointed it out) makes the lack of service even more glaring. A basic understanding of service and proactive customer care are lacking here. In summary, Em Höttche is a prime example of a restaurant that clearly doesn't value its guests. The disastrous service, the poorly organized kitchen, and the questionable business practices make this visit an absolutely abysmal experience. There is an urgent need for improvement in all areas. I can only recommend that anyone who values a pleasant and professional dining experience avoid this restaurant.

If you're looking for a Rhenish atmosphere and want to enjoy the food, this is the place to be. The outdoor area is inviting, and you can practically see everything. The lunch specials are highly recommended!

We went through the book "111 German Inns You Must See," and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is located right next to a market, and you can sit inside or outside. The restaurant is quaint, and the service was excellent! The food was delicious, and you can find both local and national dishes. It's well worth a visit.

There were six of us at this brewery. All I can say is, one of the staff members was extremely unfriendly, and the food I ordered was unfortunately nowhere near what was on the menu. I pointed this out to the waiter, and he was completely uncooperative. He simply moved on, warming up to the conversation, and ignored me. Please, don't order the Cologne burger! I can't recommend this brewery!

We went to the restaurant for lunch. Since the weather was so nice, we sat outside. Drinks arrived at some point, and we chose dishes from the daily menu. Everything was delicious. The service was irritated and completely overwhelmed. Conclusion: definitely recommended.

We were there a few weeks ago with a larger group and had a pleasant time overall. The few service and ambiance issues we encountered were likely due to our table in the secluded private area. Since the server couldn't see us directly, it took longer for our order to arrive. Additionally, the private area itself was designed for groups of over 40 people, so it was a bit spacious for our group of 20. Despite these minor inconveniences, I would definitely go back.

The food is good. I was there for lunch and ordered a dish from the lunch menu. However, it was apparently also on the regular menu (larger and more expensive). Instead of asking what dish I wanted (which is what I expect from good service), I was served the dish from the main menu—at lunchtime, mind you. When I mentioned this, they simply told me I had ordered it.

The brewery has a wonderful ambience, everything seems very cozy. The food and service were first class! We will be happy to come back to you on our next visit to Bonn. It was that time again. Yesterday we were able to be guests at Em Höttche again. It was wonderful again. Even though the restaurant was full both inside and outside, everything went like clockwork. The best knuckle in Germany is definitely not here! The knuckle was good, but it could be better (Zum Rad, Frankfurt). The four of us ordered the knuckle. All the knuckles and also the sauerkraut were lukewarm. They asked about it and said that the knuckle came fresh from the oven. That was certainly not true. The goulash soup we had for lunch, however, was above average.

We were there at lunchtime during the week, just after it opened. There were construction workers walking around, but that didn't bother us. Food was excellent and the service was very friendly. Would love to come again.

Service and ambience top! The food isn't really that tasty. My cheese spaetzle was so over-seasoned that you couldn't eat it. However, the friendly service made sure that I got a new portion. That was very good and the spaetzle was also edible. The menu is typical for a brewery, very meat-heavy. You should know that before you stop there.

I'm here once a week - they have the best pork knuckle in Germany! The service responds to the guests' wishes (for example, I only eat the knuckle with sauerkraut) and is also super fast. The atmosphere is very pleasant. I can definitely recommend the place!

Everything was going well until we paid for exactly what we ordered and then two unordered items showed up on the bill. Unfortunately we were forced to pay for these additional items.
