Brauhaus Bönnsch in Bonn

A very classy venue in a very central location. When we went, they only had one beer left, but it was delicious. Highly recommended.

I ordered the recommended meal: schnitzel, savoy cabbage, and mashed potatoes. The portion was the size of a child's plate. I had to get a doner kebab elsewhere afterward to feel full. The schnitzel was the size of my palm, and the mashed potatoes (which were actually purée) were a single scoop (like a small ice cream scoop). It tasted okay, except for the pre-made sauce. But the portion size is outrageous. It's a shame, it's always been good before. I'll give it one more try. Maybe it was because it was quiet and there were only two waiters. 🤦

We were there with a large group and only had a few delicious beers. The waitress was very attentive!

No more seats available, so I went to the bar. The service was attentive, the Bönnsch beer flowed and tasted good. I can't say the same for the food. The malt schnitzel cost €18.90. The fried potatoes were barely cooked, practically white. The sauce tasted like it came from a jar, or rather, it had no flavor at all. The meat was tasteless (almost like processed meat). Hence, only one star. It's a shame, they could do better. Conclusion: Bönnsch, yes; food, no.

The restaurant was quite good, serving traditional cuisine. It reminded me of my grandmother's fried potatoes. The local beer was decent. However, if you visit the cellar, I find the mural on the wall—carefully cropped when you search for it online—conveys a blatantly racist and discriminatory message: a Black person sitting on the floor at the same level as a dog on the other side of the mural, being harassed by three teenagers offering them a banana. It needs to be fixed urgently!

A solid brewery. Very attentive staff behind the bar. We only wanted a pointed cabbage stew. The waiter added two spoons without us even asking. The stew was very tasty.

Unfortunately, the food wasn't tasty. The dumplings were hard (probably reheated), the roulade was tough, and the red cabbage, not freshly prepared but probably a convenience product, tasted of nothing. The potatoes were served with the skin on. That wasn't great either. At least the beer was tasty, and the waiter was very nice.

We waited over an hour for the food. All three dishes were only lukewarm. The sauce for the Braumeister schnitzel was very watery. The goulash with spaetzle was delicious, but, as I said, also only lukewarm.

Waited for 1 hour for food. When we got it it was cold. Disastrous service organization. The waitress was not to blame, she was friendly and apologized. The boss doesn't know how to reassign employees according to the crowd.

...at 10:00 PM, after an hour of waiting from the time we placed our order, we were told the kitchen was closed and they had no food to give us! Any further comment is superfluous. Terrible welcome and terrible service!

I visited twice. The knuckle of pork was good. But the beef hamburger tasted very dry and not at all juicy.

It was our first time there. Despite it being a Tuesday, it was fully booked. We managed to snag a table; the atmosphere was great and rustic, though a bit cramped. Unfortunately, it was the first and last time we were there. I had the creamed mushroom schnitzel with fried potatoes. Unfortunately, the schnitzel, despite not having any sauce on top, wasn't crispy, and the sauce and fried potatoes were cold! The food was returned and came back, just like I had ordered, already cut. It was just warmed up, and that's it. It's actually unacceptable in a restaurant like this. If they had apologized properly or perhaps asked for the last round of drinks with the words "it's on the house," it would have been fine. But nothing, and I found that very, very negative. That's never happened to me anywhere else, as well as "appropriate" food being heated up and brought back. The service so far has been nice, but they would have liked to have checked and asked for drinks more often, as a Coke is quickly consumed with the small glasses. Too bad, a disappointment on my birthday

I was a bit disappointed with the "Himmel un Äd" (Heaven and the Earth): Firstly, it arrived lukewarm, and the mashed potatoes had obviously been sitting on the plate for a while and were already dried out in places. The black pudding had a somewhat firmer consistency. I've definitely had better.

I had old friends over again. I wanted to go to Bönnsch. As always, it wasn't disappointing. Beautiful restaurant, very friendly service, and delicious food.

Great pub with delicious food and fantastic service. If you're not careful, you'll get a new beer as soon as the previous one is empty, and then you'll end up staying for another one.

Only 4 stars...since we were sitting in the basement, which was already cozy, it was just too loud for me personally. The food was perfect👌I've rarely eaten such good food in a brewery recently...there were five of us and we had four different dishes, all excellent. Kudos to the waiter, he was incredibly busy that evening...he remained cheerful, friendly, and prompt...you don't see that very often these days...we had fun and were completely satisfied.

The brewery schnitzel was substandard. The fried potatoes were soggy in a watery beer sauce. No salad for €18.90. No words. Unfriendly waiter. He just wanted to write my drinks and food on a shared lid for our group. The noise level in the basement was incredibly loud. Never again

It's just a brewery pub. Everything's typical, as you'd expect, and the beers are good, the food is tasty and also typical of a brewery. The prices are reasonable. The service is friendly and fast. You shouldn't go down to the cellar; it's a bit stuffy there and the ventilation is inadequate. We quickly started to sweat. It's okay to go there.

Highly recommend a visit. We were there for lunch today and also had dishes from the lunch menu. They were delicious, reasonably priced, and the service was very friendly, and we didn't have to wait long. Thank you so much for the helpful information about beer brewing.

Delicious beer, delicious food and friendly staff, the perfect brewery

Today I ordered beef goulash with specks and red cabbage. I have to say it was perfect. It was hearty and optimally seasoned and the portion is generous. It is definitely worth eating there. You will not regret it and the prices are reasonable for the incredible food.

A German restaurant with a distinctive glass shape. There are three German restaurants in the center of Bonn, but this one is the best.

The dishes, typical of a brewery but with a slightly different twist, looked appealing on the menu. A table was reserved. Delicious: the home-brewed beer. We would have liked to bring a bottle as a gift, but it was only available in combination with a glass. The burger was nice, the knuckle pan was nicely served with sauerkraut (they also serve whole knuckles, but I didn't want to pick the bones, so it was a great idea), the minced meat pan was good, the spare ribs were quite crusty and difficult to slice, and there were too many of them. When we asked to take them with us, they wrapped them up at the table. Total consumption for main course and drinks: over 100 euros for 2 adults and 2 children. In general, we were largely overlooked by the waiters, and one person got a ton of Coke and Fanta poured down our faces. The rag was brought twice, but we had already picked up the worst of it with napkins; the waitress was standing next to us. The situation could have been handled better, in our opinion.

A very cozy and lively brewery in the center of Bonn. I ordered the beef goulash with buttered spaetzle and red cabbage – it was delicious, hearty, and typically German. I particularly enjoyed the house Bönnsch beer, so fresh and aromatic that I immediately ordered a second glass after the first. The colleague at the keg was very warm and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. For dessert, I had the Tyrolean apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream – fresh, not too sweet, and a perfect ending. The atmosphere on a Friday evening was crowded but very pleasant: friendly, convivial, and authentic.

Ate everything and it was very tasty.

We reserved a table. A really nice barman showed us to our table and fetched us menus and quickly some drinks. Eventually a lad turned up as our waiter and took our food order. The food came. It looked good but the schweinhaxe was a bit over roasted so was dry and tough. There wasn't much gravy which made the dry tough meat all the harder to eat. The mash potatoes were very lumpy with big hard lumps in so wasn't mashed very well. Quite early on as it was so dry and hard I needed another drink. I waited around 10 mins hoping to catch the waiters attention. Eventually my wife called excuse me and he motioned he would be over shortly. He never came so I got put my chair and approached the bar. I hadn't eaten any food for about 5-6mins by this point as needed a drink. I ordered my beer and a radler for my wife. The radler was disappointing as I watched as he put a shot of beer in (about 50ml) then filled the rest of the glass up from a bottle of lemonade. More like a glass of lemonade with a dash of beer. The waiter realised I was at the bar ordering drinks so came over and said my colleague is taking over your area so they will take care of your requests, demands, wants and needs in quite a snarky way like he was annoyed I'd gone to the bar for drinks. I took my drinks back to our table and we continued our meal. I must say the burgers and a salad I saw looked very good on another table but I didn't try so can't be sure how they tasted. Normally I would have stayed for at least another drink but I wanted to go. I figured out who the new colleague was looking after our area and asked for the bill. The waitress left the machine on the how much tip do you want to give page. I didn't want to after this was my first interaction with this staff member and my previous struggles to get a drink. I was looking forward to this place and have eaten and drank in Brauhaus's all over Germany in all regions. They were a tad more expensive but then I also feel they are trying to be a bit more upmarket. Sadly the staffing left me not enjoying the place but this may just be misfortune of staff swapping areas and I was caught in between. I wouldn't return

The traditional Bönnsch brewery is conveniently located in Bonn's pedestrian zone. It serves delicious beer, the Bönnsch, Bonn's answer to Kölsch. The food is good, and the portions are generous. Typical brewery fare. There's plenty of seating, including outside. The staff is attentive and friendly.

An excellent place to drink a good beer or enjoy delicious food. The malt-breaded schnitzel with beer sauce and roast potatoes is extraordinary. I had one of the best strudels I've ever had.

Best place for traditional fare in Bonn. Good value too.I had the pork knuckle mit sauerkraut, my companion the goulash mit red cabbage - both excellent. You certainly don't need a starter! Real buzz about the place too, all kinds - romantic couples, families playing games, solo visitors etc. Staff spoke confident English and highly efficient. I only tried the weissbier on draft, but it was lovely, with a lot of character. A bit less central than places that look similar from the outside, but well worth a few minutes extra walking!

The pretzel with sour cream was the highlight as an American. Prices were fair, atmosphere above average. Caveat: I haven't experienced enough German restruants to really give an exact review, having said that, I don't think you could go wrong eating here.

My friend and I decided to do dinner at this brewery. They sell the special beer local to Bonn. I really liked it; it had a little lemony taste and was quite refreshing. I also got a dish with smoked salmon, horse radish, and latkes which was tasty. Our server was friendly and let us take our time.

Classic brewery atmosphere with dishes at very reasonable prices and, of course, the highly recommended Bönnsch beer. I really like the bar design with the brewing kettle. Reservations are often recommended in the evenings.

I've been waiting for my food for 35 minutes, while my companion finished his a long time ago. So I don't rate the food. I rate the service. Terrible. I'll edit a little later. The sausages were delicious. It's a shame not to eat with company.

An excellent restaurant and brewery offering a wide range of regional dishes and home-brewed beer. Very friendly staff. Seating is available both inside and on the terrace. The Bönsch is also a good venue for larger groups. Parking is best in one of the larger parking garages near the town hall. However, the Bönsch is also easily accessible by bus and train. The Bönsch is definitely a must-see for anyone visiting Bonn.

I've always enjoyed Bönnsch and felt very comfortable there. My experience with the service has always been positive. Today, I walked past the restaurant as part of the Bonn Pride march. A group of middle-aged men began to rant against the march and repeatedly made homophobic remarks. I know from other participants further back that they continued to make these insults without being reprimanded by the staff. I really had hoped for more from Bönnsch and will now stop coming.

The tap beer is recommended, but you can also buy it at the kiosk around the corner and enjoy it while standing. The food (bratwurst and fried potatoes) was sometimes significantly worse than the microwave collections from Sonnen Bassermann. The bratwurst tasted distinctly of hedgehog, and the potato-like side dish was a mixture of indefinable, half-burnt mass and the cook's hair.

Great bistro. The food is really good and the waiters are very nice. I highly recommend if you want good German bistro food with good prices in the center of the city.

Good German, local cuisine. I'd love to come back. For dinner, we had a delicious beef broth as an appetizer, and the main course was a beef salad with fried potatoes, which was also highly recommended.

We loved what we ordered (flammkuchen and schnitzel)! The mushroom sauce on the schnitzel was delicious. (It was a bit pricey, like anywhere in Germany compared to Spain, but everything was very good.)

I like going here and actually loved this brewery so much. I've recommended it to my friends many times. But I was very disappointed with the service today... The waiter spoke to us in English, which I found racist because we had ordered the food in German and we speak German well. At first, I thought he didn't speak German, but he did... He also asked us to pay only with cash. I've always paid with a card here, so I found that odd. Neither of us had any cash, and I told him in German that I've been here many times and never paid with cash... And then he said you can pay with a card. I still don't understand why he wanted cash. Plus, the bill included a water we hadn't even ordered. We only had beers. If we hadn't paid separately but simply paid together, we wouldn't have checked and would have paid without knowing. I hope that was his "mistake" and not intentional because he saw us as tourists. Bönnsch is still delicious, but the staff has gotten worse.

Admittedly, I love the atmosphere in breweries. So I'm biased. The atmosphere is great. There are two large brewing chambers in the back, with pictures hanging everywhere; it's very pleasant to sit there. Of course, the beer was great. Bönnsch is truly a beer you can drink. I went there with a friend; we both ordered the schnitzel with potatoes and beer sauce. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures, but it looked delicious. A decent portion that's filling. Combined with the beer, it was a great lunch. The staff was very friendly and asked several times if everything was okay and if we liked it. A great experience. I'll be back.

4 The food is terrible and completely overpriced! Don't go there under any circumstances!

We quickly got a free table. The waitress was polite and regularly asked if everything was okay and if we enjoyed our meal. We ordered two soups, potatoes, and beer. The portions were normal-sized and the food was delicious. Overall, we had a positive impression. My only criticism: the lamp was too bright, and I would have liked to have been able to adjust it.

Plenty of choice. The sauerbraten was delicious and the meat perfect. The service was great. Very friendly and always present. Keep up the good work. I'll be back.

First, the good news: The Bönsch Weizen is delicious. But: I had the knuckle of pork with it. Meat: A MAD MOUTH – dry and nothing crispy about it. Mashed potatoes: Good consistency, but tasteless. Onions: Fried onions should be fried in oil/butter – but you should add heat. ;-) Sauerkraut: No idea what barrel that came from... Conclusion: The kitchen can't handle spices or temperatures.
