Very nice old half-timbered house with history with a beer garden. Very popular and not just among Cologne residents. We celebrated carnival there the last two years, it was simply huge! Top team, top location

Good tasty food, delicious starter variations. Friendly service. Great coordination in advance for the event with 16 people. Everything was fine. A little difficult: parking situation.

We hosted a celebration for Em ahle Kohberg with 25 people. Not only we, but also our guests were thrilled by the excellent quality of the food, the cozy room and the professional and very friendly staff. You notice in everything that you should feel good - and that works. Very happy again!

About the ambience: The restaurant has never been so stylish and cozy, it really worked out really well! About the menu: It was a shame that we were told right at the beginning that there were unfortunately no longer three dishes. And that already at 6.30 p.m. on a Friday evening. Another small negative point is that the monthly offers for February were still on display on March 7th. About the food: The bouillabaisse was absolutely convincing for me, both in terms of taste and price, very spicy and with enough delicious ingredients, great! I also have positive memories of the potato gratin, which, however, was served with a bit of cucumber-heavy roulades and savoy cabbage, which didn't quite taste convincing. I can also comment on 3 small potato pancakes with smoked salmon as a starter and apple crumble as a dessert. Both solid, but priced a bit high. On a positive note, when I asked for the pancakes with salmon, the very friendly service staff immediately gave me some sour cream :) Conclusion: We will definitely not have been to "Em ahle Kohberg" for the last time and we are very happy that there is now such a nice restaurant nearby again 👍!

Spontaneous and first visit today with our one-year-old child. We were extremely positively surprised by the gastronomic conditions in Merheim. The menu is clearly laid out and offers an appealing selection. The food was very tasty and there was nothing to complain about. The ambience of the restaurant is a successful mix of a cozy, rustic atmosphere and modern design. Staff is friendly, relaxed, courteous and flexible. Even with a small child, we felt very comfortable and well looked after here.

I was super happy with my visit here. The food was really tasty, fresh and beautifully prepared. I was particularly blown away by the “Stramme Lars” and the starters! The service was friendly and quick, you felt completely at home. The atmosphere is totally cozy, perfect for a relaxed evening. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fair for the quality on offer, as they really value regionality and you can taste it. I can only recommend the restaurant and will definitely come back!

Well... restarting the restaurant doesn't look promising! Waiter ok but not anymore. Food relatively expensive. Schnitzel at 28 euros....breading light and tasteless fried potatoes from the deep fryer! “Enjoying” Cologne tapas one visit before is almost ridiculous! The simplest sausage platter with a small baked pretzel (over 19 euros). There won't be a third time for us!

Highly recommended! We were there with the staff and there was initially a great selection of starters and then a varied buffet. The quality of the food was great! Large selection of drinks, great wines! The waitress was really very friendly and attentive! We then spent the evening comfortably in the beer garden. Big praise, thank you very much, we'll be happy to come back!

I used to live in Merheim and was disappointed when the ahl Kohberg closed its doors at some point. The new atmosphere is very nice and we had a really delicious meal. Looking forward to next time

We were invited to a wedding party here. That was the first time we visited this restaurant. I am more than thrilled with the location and the owner team. The entire service is extremely friendly and accommodating. The food was of top quality and very nicely prepared.

Finally been there again since the change of tenant. The beer garden is very nicely decorated. The Cologne dish “Himmel un Ääd” was very well prepared and tasted very good. Much worse in some breweries. The second dish was also very good and tasty. Staff is very attentive and friendly. I can highly recommend it, we will come back.

Yesterday we were at Ahle Kohberg for the first time with the new tenant. We were excited because of the last two bad tenants. The result is simply great, therefore 5 stars in all categories. We'll be back next week

I recently visited the "Em Ahle Kohberg" with a friend and we were very impressed! The menu is very diverse and offers something to suit every taste. The food was consistently delicious and prepared with obvious care. We were particularly impressed by the wonderful beer garden, where we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather and the relaxed atmosphere. The service was extremely attentive and friendly, we felt really well looked after. It's the little details that make the difference, and here you can clearly see that the work is done with a lot of love for the guest. All in all, our visit to "Em Ahle Kohberg" was a thoroughly successful experience that we would be happy to repeat. Highly recommended

Sat outside, the ambience and location was nice, the Kölsch was unfortunately warm. We ate tagliatelle with strips of pork fillet, which unfortunately didn't taste good at all; heavy, very creamy sauce, prepared without any cooking skill. The noodles are too hard and still sticky. Unacceptable for the price. It's a shame, that was it for us.

We had a spontaneous meal outdoors for two on Sunday evening. Friendly and alert service. Excellently seasoned dishes and a heavenly dessert. We were both really excited and are looking forward to the next visit.

The ahle Koberg is a classic! Under new management since December 1st! Kudos to the kitchen! Best quality without long waiting times even though the restaurant was full! Service is tried hard, but overwhelmed! The only disadvantage was the freezing cold in the dining room! We would love to come back 🤩

From the nice welcome, the beautifully set tables, the really great and always attentive service, the very tasty house wines and the great food, everything was really great and all at very fair prices. The flexibility of the kitchen with regard to special requests is also absolutely top. Thank you from everyone for a very, very nice evening. And also thank you for your patience because the last ones just didn't want to leave. Finally a very good restaurant destination in Merheim again.

We visited the beer garden, which was well filled due to the great weather. It quickly became clear that this would take time. Because the staff was scarce. So you waited ten minutes until you could at least order. The first round of drinks came after more than 20 minutes and half of them were wrong, so back. It would be naive to believe that the right thing would just happen. Instead, the waiter simply found someone else for the drinks and that was it. This pattern repeated itself. The drinks were brought out by apparently the only non-student assistant (the boss?), who on several occasions had no idea what to do with the drinks and gave them to the first person who raised his hand. So my wheat beer obviously went to another table. The guy only responded to my protest with an outrageous comment. The result was that after 3/4 of an hour the food came without me having seen a drink until then. Only when we refused to accept the food was it delivered. In contrast to the alleged boss, the students really tried hard. But there were simply too few and the organization wasn't right. With all due respect for peak times: In such cases it is better to send new guests away than to annoy them so much.

My family and I really enjoyed it! My father felt like he was there 100 years ago, so he had high expectations and they were definitely met! Many thanks again to the nice team. Extra requests were fulfilled in a very friendly manner, service was quick and you could tell that the team enjoyed their work. We will be back!

One of the best restaurants in the area! Friendly and attentive, young team 👍, cozy atmosphere, menu that offers more and nothing mainstream and therefore stands out! Besides local drinks, Bud on tap and nice wines! Just as good outside as inside! Outside you can also explore a surprisingly attractive environment.

We have been coming here for decades and have experienced many changes in operator. We were happy about the latest reopening. Our high expectations were met: the team is well-coordinated, the staff is attentive, the food was really tasty, the wine was ok, but we'll have to get to know the wine list better soon. After a long time, the koberg is back and it's worth coming by, but you should be hungry, I had a starter of green asparagus salad and then beef goulash with potato dumplings and then they could roll me home.

The "Kohberg" is beautifully furnished with pleasant indirect lighting. When I was there with my friends, it was pretty full, almost all the tables were occupied. However, that made it quite loud. The service was very friendly, but after eating we were only asked once if we wanted to order anything else, so we were left high and dry at some point. About the food: we were all very impressed with the food. I had the eggplant cordon bleu with mashed potatoes and thought it was really tasty! Only the cucumber salad could have used a little more spice in my opinion. I then helped myself with some salt and pepper. My friend let me try the beetroot ravioli and I also found it very good. Overall it was a successful evening and we will definitely be back.

A nice, quaint restaurant. The menu invites you to try it. The dishes were delicious and served attractively. The restaurant has opened under new management. When it came to service, we had the feeling that little things were missing. For example, we were not made aware of the weekly menu. The contact was generally a bit quick and rushed. But the new team will definitely settle in and the restaurant is definitely worth a visit. We will come back and try the other dishes.

The three of us were there on Sunday evening and had the Wiener Schnitzel twice and the rump steak (sous vide) once. The food was excellent: good portions, attractively prepared and very tasty. One reviewer complained that the schnitzel was too thin: This is what an authentic Viennese schnitzel should look like: Thin with an airy, wavy breading. The steak was buttery soft. The service was great, Aaron served us really well. The atmosphere was also cozy, we sat in the back, separate part of the restaurant. Price/performance was perfectly fine and the visit was worth every cent. We come from Cologne Downtown/Südstadt and will definitely come back.

Der traditionsreiche Kohberg glänzt in neuem Schein. Sehr schön eingerichtetes Restaurant mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Die Speisekarte ist bestückt mit Klassikern als auch mit modernen neuen Interpretationen von Gerichten. Hier wird gewiss jeder fündig und bekommt leckere Speisen zu fairen Preisen. Auch die Servicekräfte sind aufmerksam und bedienen die Gäste von der ersten Minute an herzlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Urgemütliches Restaurant mit erfrischend mutiger Küche. Das Auberginen-Cordon Bleu mit Blaubeer-Jus sollte man mindestens einmal gegessen haben. Absolute Empfehlung!

Freundlicher und guter Service kombiniert mit einer sehr leckeren Küche :) Der Gastraum ist gemütlich und leicht "Urig" gestaltet. Man fühlt sich von Anfang an wohl und gut versorgt:) Die Speisekarte ist nicht übertrieben voll und jeder findet, meiner Meinung nach, etwas nach dem eigenen Geschmack:) Preislich sehr fair. Wir kommen definitiv wieder und freuen uns schon sehr auf die Eröffnung des Biergartens:)

Das Essen war OK. Die Dorade gut. Beilagen so lala. Aber die anderen Gericht waren nichts besonderes. Das bestellte Bayerische Helle Bier kam nicht, sondern ein anderes.

Ich war diese Woche zum vorgezogenen Weihnachtsessen mit meiner Freundin und meiner Mum da. Wir wurden freundlich begrüßt und bekamen unseren Tisch im wirklich schön gestalteten Restaurant. Die jungen Kellner waren super freundlich und bemüht. Es wurde mehrfach gefragt ob alles in Ordnung ist. Wir hatten jeder eine Vorspeise, Hauptgang und Dessert und es war durch die Bank weg alles super. Mein persönliches Highlight war der "stramme Lars", welcher eine wirklich großartige Interpretation eines strammen Max ist. Alles war frisch, toll abgeschmeckt und wir sind vom Essen auch zwei Tage später noch sehr am schwärmen. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Im Em Ahle Kohberg, geführt von einem liebenswerten Ehepaar, erwartet Sie eine vielfältige kulinarische Erfahrung. Besonders beeindruckte mich das vegetarische Cordon Bleu - ein absoluter Genuss. Doch auch für Fleischliebhaber gibt es leckere Klassiker wie Steaks. Die Pinza mit Rotkohl ist ein echter Höhepunkt. Em Ahle Kohberg bietet nicht nur köstliche Hauptgerichte, sondern überrascht auch mit einem himmlischen Kaiserschmarrn, der definitiv preiswert ist. Dieses Restaurant ist ein Muss!

Wir waren mit unserem Team zur Weihnachtsfeier dort. Da wir mit der Buchung eher spät waren, haben wir uns gefreut, dass wir noch Platz gefunden haben. Das Essen war sehr lecker, die Preise sind in Ordnung und das Personal war freundlich und motiviert.

Ohne Heizung im Dezember ein bisserl kalt, da nützte auch kein Tee aufs Haus, mit Jacke Essen geht gar nicht.

Schlechte Bedienung und zu eng bezw. zu voll Essen nicht besonders und teuer.

Merheim hat auf euch gewartet! Wir sind durchweg begeistert, und die Küche ist ein Paradies, auch wenn man mit Lebensmittelunverträglichkeiten kämpft. Vom vegan Dill Dressing bis zum veganen Milchreis ist für jedes Herz etwas dabei. Lars ist ein exzellenter Koch und hat wirklich aus diesem Lokal ein Schmuckstück geschaffen. Der Service war sehr engagiert. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Und über die zwei negativen Bewertungen, die am Tag der Eröffnung entstanden sind, möchte ich nur sagen, dass man vielleicht mal überdenken sollte, so ein Quatsch zu schreiben. Es war noch nicht Mals eine offizielle Eröffnungsfeier (sondern eher ein nachbarschaftliches Kennenlernen), da fragt man sich oft, was die Leute überhaupt erwarten und dann noch negative Bewertung schreiben ist schon frech.

Die neuen Inhaber haben das Restaurant perfekt aufgewertet. Die Atmosphäre ist gemütlich, das Essen von exzellenter Qualität und der Koch ein wahrer Profi. Die liebevolle Präsentation auf vorgewärmten Tellern unterstreicht die Professionalität. Trotz des vollen Lokals wurden wir prompt und freundlich bedient. Der eingespielte Service überzeugt. Wir freuen uns auf ein Wiedersehen!

Liebes Team vom Em Ahle Kohleberg, ich möchte mich einfach mal für den großartigen Abend gestern bedanken. Mit zwei Freunden haben wir bei euch gesessen und uns rundum wohlgefühlt. Die Kalbsrücken-Vorspeise war ein Traum! Und der Stramme Lars als Hauptgang - wow! Perfekte Kombination der Zutaten und das Fleisch genau richtig gegart. Auch meine Freunde waren begeistert von ihrem vegetarischen Burger und dem saftigen Steak. Klasse, dass eure Küche so vielseitig ist. Die Atmosphäre bei euch ist echt super. Die rustikale Einrichtung hat genau das richtige Maß an Gemütlichkeit für einen entspannten Abend mit Freunden. Das hat unseren Abend wirklich besonders gemacht. Schön, dass das Kölner Veedel Merheim nach so langer Zeit wieder so ein gemütliches Restaurant wie euer Em Ahle Kohleberg hat. Ihr habt da echt etwas Besonderes geschaffen. Nochmals vielen Dank für den tollen Abend. Wir kommen sicher bald wieder!

Altes Restaurant im Grünen mit großem Biergarten. Leider hat sich der Besuch nicht gelohnt. Das sehr junge Personal war sehr bemüht aber teilweise völlig überfordert. Das Wiener Schnitzel für knapp 20€ waren 2 kleine und leider auch zu dick panierte Schnitzelchen. Der Kartoffel-Gurkensalat war so laff dass ich ordentlich nachwürzen musste und der Dekosalat leider schon welk. Die als Vorspeise bestellten Knoblauchfritten wurden zum Hauptgericht gereicht und die Ingwerlimonade war total überzuckert. Das alles für knapp 70€ für 2 Personen (inkl. 4 Getränken) war dann doch happig. Am Nebentisch hat ein älteres Paar nach 1,5 std. das bestellte Essen wieder abbestellt weil sie nicht länger warten wollten. Alles in Allem, schade aber nie wieder. Edit. Diese Rezession ist schon 1,5 Jahre alt, Google hat sie aber bisher nicht nicht veröffentlicht. Der Stand heute ist eventuell anders.

Einfach sehr lecker und gemütlich! Der Gastraum ist urig und dennoch modern gestaltet. Das findet sich auch auf der Speisekarte wieder, viele Klassiker neu interpretiert. Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 10 Personen dort und durchweg zufrieden. Genauso stelle ich mir ein Traditionshaus in 2023 vor! Vielen Dank, wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder! :)

Ich war gestern Abend dort Essen. Super schönes, gemütliches altes Fachwerk Haus. Der Chef des Hauses hat persönlich nachgefragt ob alles schmeckt. Das war absolut der Fall ! Eine tolle Karte die alt bewertes mit neuen Ideen mischt. Absolute Empfehlung!!!

War mit meiner Freundin zum Essen da, wunderschönes Ambiente und sehr leckeres Essen. Personal und Besitzer waren neben der vielen Arbeit oft in der Stube um mit den Gästen zu sprechen. Sehr zugewandt und freundlich. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!!

Bei der Eröffnung musste auf Kölsch ewig warten....kein Essen, noch nicht mal Häppchen gab es. Sehr Schade, da bei hätte man auch um die Zeit Kleingkeiren anbieten / verkaufen können. Das schlimmste! Die Speisekarte lag zur Einsicht am Tisch.

Eröffnung heute...aufs Kölsch musste viel zu lange warten und ganz schlimm finde ich, das zur Eröffnung noch nicht einmal Frikadellen oder Brühwurst mit Kartoffelsalat o.ä. angeboten wird. Ganz ohne Essen geht bei einer Eröffnung überhaupt nicht. Sehr Schade wenn man so anfangen will.

Sehr nettes und gut gelauntes Personal, das einen den Besuch auf jeden Fall sehr angenehm macht. Im Biergarten herrscht ein sehr angenehmes Ambiente und es ist sauber. Zur Innengestaltung kann ich nichts sagen. Das Essen ist sehr lecker und man schmeckt die Qualität. Sehr positiv, dass hier Wert auf regionale Zutaten gelegt wird. Wir haben den Besuch sehr genossen und kommen gerne wieder.

Wir kannten das Restaurant noch als gutes Traditionsbrauhaus aus den 80ern und hatten uns dazu entschlossen, den 81. Geburtstag meiner Mutter im Familienkreis dort zu feiern. 40 Jahre später kamen wir leider in eine "andere Welt". Im großen Speisesaal waren wir am Sonntagmittag die einzigen Gäste. Trotz schriftlicher Buchung und Erwähnung der Geburtstagsfeier war der Raum sehr kalt. Nach der Äußerung unseres Wunsches die Heizung etwas höher zu stellen, erklärte uns der Betreiber sein Problem der Energiekosten und die Tatsache, dass er unseren Umsatz dann "verheizt". Dieses Problem ist uns in der jetzigen Lage durchaus bewusst, jedoch beißt sich hier die bekannte Katze in den Schwanz. Nach kurzer Zeit kam eine Entschuldigung und es wurde etwas wärmer, vielleicht auch durch die Kartoffelsuppe und den Tee. Zum Essen: Der Kartoffelstampf war kalt, nicht lauwarm, nein kalt. Die Rinderleber konnte nicht gegessen werden. Sie war vermutlich tiefgefroren, dadurch matschig, säuerlich schmeckend und ebenfalls kalt. Das Wiener Schnitzel kam anstatt mit Bratkartoffeln mit Pommes Frites. Die bestellten Bratkartoffeln wurden nachgeliefert und das Fleisch war sehr mit Panade ummantelt. Das Essen war insgesamt sehr schlecht. Als Entschuldigung gab es für jeden kostenfrei eine Creme Brulee, die gut war. Es war ein trauriger Tag für uns als Gäste und für den Betreiber, da die Kellnerin beim Abräumen noch ein komplettes Tablett mit Geschirr auf dem Fliesenboden verteilte. Zuhause haben wir dann nochmal das Lied der Bläck Föös gehört und an die gute alte Zeit zurückgedacht.

Gestern am 30.09.22 hatte uns der Opa zum 88.Geburtstag eingeladen und ehrlich, ihr habt es geschafft,aus diesem wundervollen Abend etwas unvergessliches im Negativen zu machen..Das Essen war versalzen und es musste 2 mal zurück gegeben werden. Dann gab es ein Gericht Kartoffeln mit Gurkensalat und Beilage, den Gurkensalat konnten wir auf den Teller nicht finden. Und dann für dieses miese Essen noch eine Rechnung schreiben ist schon das Letzte. Schade um die Zeit, die man da verschwendet hat.

Wir waren im Biergarten.Wir fanden es etwas unorganisiert,unordentlich.Die Teller,Gläser waren nicht sauber.
