El Greco in Kiel

Very pleasant restaurant...the food was delicious, the staff friendly and attentive. If we're ever in Kiel again, we'll eat there again.

Three of us were at El Greco—reserved a table online—great food and drinks, everyone was very satisfied—very friendly staff—very generous ouzo on the house—will be happy to come back.

We went there for the first time yesterday while passing through. The food and service were absolutely top-notch. The ambiance of the restaurant was also okay, the restrooms were a bit dated, but that's where you spend the least time. We'll have dinner there again in two weeks when we pick up our children from the ship.

I've been coming to this restaurant with friends for years. For a long time, we were satisfied with the food, portion sizes, and prices. This year, we visited twice. The prices were raised, the portions were extremely small, and even the salad plate was included with the main course. The meat was too dry. I call that a rip-off.

Everything was wonderful. Thank you very much. We were only slightly disturbed by the little animals outside. Still, highly recommended!

No. Long wait despite pre-ordering by phone and picking it up. People check your order on-site. Mine was missing fries. Very annoying. And the store was empty. So no stress for the kitchen. Not recommended.

Yesterday, Sunday, June 22, 2025, we ordered food. We've been very satisfied for years, and the food was great! But what we got yesterday was an absolute disaster. 3 pieces of grilled liver = bad and already slightly green! The gyro was sloppy and not fresh! The red rice was disgusting! Sorry guys, this is just not acceptable... Never again!!! Today we found out that the owner has apparently changed... what a shame!

We are often here and can praise the friendly service and the delicious food, which has portions that you can eat up and don't have to leave much left over 😋

Chic renovated Greek restaurant.

The ambience is great. Classic Greek and rustic, just the way I like it. I had the Crete platter with gyros, lamb chops, souvlaki etc. The gyros was perhaps a bit dry, but overall it was very cozy there. Of course there was also ouzo on the house, just great.

Given another chance after the change of ownership and we are now very satisfied. Delicious. We'll be back.

We were very satisfied. The food was plentiful and fresh and hot. The shrimp I had in particular were great and tender as they should be. I think a 45 minute wait for food on a Saturday is absolutely fine!! We say thank you!!

Food - Greek what you would expect, normal amount but not exceptionally tasty. Service announces ouzo for the drink, but nothing happens despite asking. Sitting with empty glasses after eating only after 30 minutes. Then don't pay at the table as discussed, but individually at the cash register. Ambiance - cliche music and artificial fireplace projection. At least to 9. 3 candles… Nice evening, but more because of the people and not the gastro performance. ✌🏼

REALLY BAD STORE!!!!!! Service is very bad, we had ordered a table for 8 people and were then left there as ordered and not picked up. They knew we had booked the table because the waiter even asked the name if that was us. In the end we were left there stupidly because he preferred to make a reservation for 20 people and then had no room for us.

I've always enjoyed ordering GYROS here. The portions have become smaller and smaller the last few times, but that was still acceptable. Today, however, there was really little meat and it was still cold. The rice was completely missing, but more tzatziki, which unfortunately now only tastes like run-of-the-mill. So far there has been at least one olive with the pepperoni with the coleslaw, which was also missing. Of course it's not tragic, who makes their happiness dependent on an olive... but sometimes it's just the little things that make the big picture appear in a careless light. It's a shame, we're now looking for another "gyro master".

Nicely decorated Greek restaurant, tables not too close together. You can have a quiet, undisturbed conversation. Service very accommodating. Dish with liver without onions, these were served upon request. Recommended dish with Metaxa sauce. All in all round and recommended. Price-performance ratio is still OK in my opinion. Amount of food is still possible. Tzatziki not so great In my opinion there isn't enough coleslaw.

We ordered something to pick up and wanted to pay by card. The card payment terminal initially did not work as desired, so the payment process had to be repeated. On the second try it worked. After we finished eating at home, the innkeeper called me and informed me that the amount had been accidentally debited twice. He refunded me the amount immediately via real-time transfer – awesome! In addition, we can only recommend the food: top customer service, top food!

We ate there on Christmas Day. The staff was very friendly and even allowed us to bring our dog, which was fantastic. The food was delicious. Overall, we were very satisfied.

Apparently closed on New Year's Day, but no information about it can be found online. ONLINE ordering still works, even received a confirmation. After a disappointing long wait, I tried to ask by phone but there was no answer and there was no announcement that it was closed.

The food is tasty and sufficient. Were welcomed and served in a nice and friendly manner. The tables should perhaps be wiped down more often and the radiators deserve a rag again. But I'm sure that next time I'll get full points again.

El Greco is a friendly, family-run business, built with love. This wasn't our first time there, and it won't be our last 😉. The menu has something for everyone. Even if you're not happy with the selection (regarding the grilled dishes), you can request changes. It's completely unspectacular ☺️. My husband had the 103 and I had the 102 (with modifications). Of course, they start with the signature coleslaw. The portions of the main course are generous. It might not seem like it on the plates, though. The quality of the meat is amazing. I'm not usually a gyro eater because I find the fat and lumps on the meat 🤮. Here, I was able to eat my portion without worry 🙏.

The restaurant could look much nicer with less decoration and plants. Unfortunately we weren't really greeted today, even though we ordered it took a while to get any attention. But it was also very crowded. 6.30 p.m. Service was quick, but there was no welcome here either. The food was delicious, typically Greek. It was very crowded and loud and I found the talk on the radio really bad. Music is great, but with the background noise there was still chatter from the radio presenter, that was too much. It was pleasant when the restaurant emptied and only Greek music could be heard.

By chance we spontaneously went to El Greco during a stay in Kiel. We were very positively surprised! Great service despite the late hour on a Wednesday evening. All the employees were extremely friendly and very on the ball. Very quick cuisine and very tasty food. The Sardinia starter is a clear recommendation. The Greek radio in the background was appropriate. However, the ambience of the front dining room could be made a little more inviting.
