Droste-Café Restaurant Bar PIZZERIA

I liked the pasta Carbonara, it's really tasty. The view from this restaurant is very nice. The only downside is that everyone is sitting very close to each other and I was uncomfortable sitting next to someone, and everyone was walking past me. I sat outside, the chairs were very uncomfortable (despite the fact that I weigh 55kg), and the table was wobbly, I had to hold it with my foot. The waiters seem like they don't know who to grab, they're confused. But they serve quickly. This is my second time here and I'm coming back because the food is delicious, so if you want to eat deliciously, I recommend it to you.

A nice restaurant in itself. The bruschetta and octopus were very good, as were the lasagna and penne carbonara. The service left something to be desired; the second wheat beer had to be ordered three times!! before it arrived after 45 minutes!!! The trick: charging €23 for three small grappas is really outrageous, especially since it wasn't really a very good grappa. I'd say it's a tourist rip-off at its finest!!

Disappointing – unfortunately, only a beautiful view, but not very convincing in terms of cuisine (2 stars) The location of the Droste Café Bar directly on Lake Constance is undoubtedly very beautiful – at first glance, the view also gives you hope for a thoroughly pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, it remained just that. The food: The bruschetta sounded promising, and the topping was okay – unfortunately, it was served on a type of black bread that was completely unsuitable: tough, dry, and lacking a toasted flavor. Why they don't opt for the classic toasted ciabatta here is beyond me. My main course, the "Bistecca alla Tartufo" for a hefty €29.50, was a bitter disappointment: a small piece of meat with simple pasta in a truffle cream sauce – mediocre in taste, more like an appetizer in terms of quantity. Value for money? Clearly not there. My companion's "carbonara" wasn't what you'd expect either: it tasted more like a simple ham and cream sauce, a far cry from the original carbonara. For €13.80, it was simply disappointing. The crowning glory was the "homemade" tiramisu: no structure, hardly any flavor, but covered in cheap chocolate sauce – a sad attempt at imitating a classic Italian dessert. Even the big words on the menu don't help. Conclusion: Overall, the food was very poor, but disproportionately expensive. You won't find authentic Italian cuisine here – especially since the owner is apparently not even Italian. To me, the whole thing seems more like a classic tourist trap in a pretty location: they rely on passing trade and appearance, not on quality or authenticity. It's a shame – with honest food and better value, this place could be much better...

The food, two pizzas and one zander fillet with scampi, was delicious and beautifully presented. The fillet was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Service was quick, as was the food, freshly prepared and hot, just as it should be. When we asked, a bowl of water was brought out for the dog. Why the waitress couldn't do it herself even though she had time was not clear to us, as it took a lot longer than if I had ordered a bottle of water for the dog. Reordering drinks should be easier than having to alert the waiter yourself. To give it 5 stars, I think it needs more customer service, and the outdoor furniture needs to be more comfortable and chilled. Prices are slightly higher, but that's certainly due to the location. You have to be careful with the reviews, there are two of the same shop a few meters away under the same name that focus on ice cream.

Worst cake I've ever had in a café. The coffee (supposedly from a portafilter) wasn't any better. Poor service.

Top food Service could be improved

Excellent restaurant. Beautifully decorated, comfortable, and clean. Delicious and well-served meals (spaghetti carbonara, pizza, fish with tomato risotto, and spaghetti with tomato sauce). The outdoor dining area is very pleasant and fresh, and the indoor dining areas are beautiful. Beautiful views of Lake Bodensee.

The food was disappointing in terms of taste and certainly didn't reflect the high price. The quality of the dishes left much to be desired. Overall, the value for money here is unfortunately not good.

Surprisingly very good. Very good food. Great value for money. Very friendly staff. Great view. Would go back anytime. Update June 19, 2025 Unfortunately no longer open. Unfortunately unfriendly... The temporary staff were very nice, though. The carpaccio came with moldy lettuce leaves. When I asked for bread, they suggested focaccia. No indication that it would cost extra. Or how much. Later at the cash register, an additional 8.50 was added, and they commented that bread doesn't actually belong with this dish. Simply outrageous. Just like the nerve of 8.50 for a few thin strips of bread. That was the last time.

I can't comment on the food, as I didn't get to eat it. The staff was very unfriendly, and the guests who did eat were treated like hordes of people. I don't understand the positive reviews.

The best part is the view of the lake. The daily fish specials aren't very good. Neither the fish nor the side dishes are freshly prepared. The tagliatelle is sticky, and the risotto is already dried out.

Very cozy, fantastically decorated restaurant with a beautiful view of Lake Constance. The entrance door is opened in an attentive and welcoming manner as soon as you arrive. You really get the feeling of being welcome here. We only had two beers and bruschetta as a snack but we would be happy to come back. The upper area can be used royally for celebrations on a somewhat larger scale. Everything is also very clean. Thank you

We had hot drinks and three cakes. The three cakes didn't taste fresh. Unfortunately I expected too much for this price. 5€ per piece of cake The “skin” of the cheesecake was a bit hard. The apple pie was too dry. Plum cake felt like it was straight out of the freezer

Best Pizza in Meersburg! I visited this place last year. I had the absolute pleasure of enjoying pizza at Droste-Café Restaurant Bar PIZZERIA in Meersburg, and I have to say—it was mouthwatering. From the very first bite, you can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients. The crust was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. Each topping was generously added and incredibly tasty.

You get fair prices for the food delivered

Nice place right on the shore of Constance with a beautiful view from the window. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and helpful. A small minus - there is a strong kitchen smell throughout the entire restaurant; improved ventilation in the kitchen is definitely needed. All the best!

Ambience only on the 1st FLOOR was very nice....Food was unfortunately for the 2nd time within a year very tasteless and partly burnt...Lasagne was a dry mass that didn't taste like the penne al forno...Service once in a while...overall not recommended. It's a shame that the quality isn't right with such a beautiful view. Definitely won't be coming back

Great location right on the promenade. We each drank an aperitif (€7.80 each). The bruschetta and the warm apple strudel were also very tasty and well prepared. Perfect for enjoying the lake and the sun!

After a walk in the cold, a pleasant place to warm up with a tasty and quickly prepared Italian meal, a salad or cake.

Wir hatten das Silvester Menue mit Fleisch. Minestrone war ok aber nichts besonderes ,Bruschetta war sehr gut, Saltimbocca war eine Zumutung und nicht genießbar, der Kellner wollte noch umtauschen aber mein Vertrauen war nicht mehr da, das Dessert war gut. Die Bedienung kam nicht zum Nachfragen ob ein Kaffee oder Degistif gewünscht wird. Der Kellner ist gut aber konnte den Abend auch nicht mehr retten. Pro Person 90 Euro war es einfach nie wert. Wir werden da nie mehr Silvester feiern.

We had the New Year's Eve menu with meat. Minestrone was ok but nothing special, bruschetta was very good, saltimbocca was unreasonable and not edible, the waiter wanted to exchange it but my trust was no longer there, the dessert was good. The waitress didn't come to ask if a coffee or degistif was wanted. The waiter is good but couldn't save the evening. It was simply never worth 90 euros per person. We will never celebrate New Year's Eve there again.

The only thing you can perhaps criticize about this restaurant is that it is a bit small

A very nice, attractive location, the service is very friendly and accommodating. We had a starter with a grilled pulpo each and a small mixed salad, which was very tasty and very nicely presented. For the main course we had a meat platter with French fries for two people (52 euros). The taste was good, but unfortunately the meat medallions were fried for too long and therefore too dry. When we mentioned this to the staff, they responded positively and offered us a drink as an apology. We would still come back and recommend it to others.

The food in the restaurant was very tasty and there were three vegan pasta dishes to choose from, which are moderately well marked on the menu. However the drinks were not good. The juice spritzers were very watery and the wheat ones didn't taste good either. The staff was friendly.

I recommend!!! The service was very nice, as was the owner who constantly looked after us. The food was very tasty, the taste was constantly monitored and the arrangement of the plate was 100% perfect, we ate a lot from the menu, something different all the time, and every time we were 100% satisfied, very good Primitivo red wine , great drinks, great selection. The interior is beautiful, well maintained, I like the atmosphere, but on warm days I recommend the sunny garden next to it. I personally prefer a table in the shade and I definitely found that. Went there a few years ago without children and it was great. Were there in the summer of 2024. Food was great. Delicious. But it wasn't child friendly with children. We always had the feeling of being unwanted with our two under 6 year olds. There are also no children's meals on the menu. We had to ask three times whether we could get small cutlery for the children and finally got it ourselves at the counter. Also: When ordering a pizza, the waiter said that the price on the menu was wrong and that it would cost 2 euros more. And when we wanted to pay he presented us with a fait accompli that today only cash payment is possible. That's not possible. The card can be corrected and the payment method should be stated in advance. Luckily we had enough cash with us.

We ordered three pizzas to take away: a salami, a Diavoli and a Siciliano. The waiting time was pleasantly short and the pizzas were good, but nothing special. I found the price of €40 to be too high for that.

Super great restaurant. The pizza was super delicious. The service was very attentive and really, really friendly. It was a real joy and a real pleasure in this restaurant. The ambience is beautiful. I will eat there again.

Two things first: 1. 5 stars are above average for me, 2. Don't go if you're really hungry!! Now a little more detail. The service was very attentive and fulfilled a few small requests or questions for us (we were there with a small child). Nothing that goes beyond normal but still very pleasant. The ambience is nice, so close to the river bank. This is marred a little by the closely spaced tables - understandable when the shop is buzzing, but still a bit cramped. The food was delicious for us and was delivered very quickly despite the house being full. But it was simply not enough for the high price. Of course, quality has its price and you can't and shouldn't always expect a portion for a herd of fattening pigs that you can take some with you and eat again at home like with the local Greeks, but for the money you should get more than 5 forks of pasta and something more variety on the plate.

The best thing about this place is the location. Even on Lake Constance, you rarely receive such unfriendly and disinterested service. I have never experienced a waiter who didn't say anything to us other than: "Do you have anything now?". The plate with the starter was smeared with balsamic vinegar and cheese on the bottom, and the tablecloth was unfortunately stained until dessert on the table. Luckily the portion wasn't large; I couldn't have tolerated more of the fatty saffron risotto. We were invited by friends so we didn't comment on the lukewarm white wine etc. We never voluntarily go into the restaurant again, even though we don't live far away.

Welcome to Germany! Had two drinks for €14… Card payments only possible from €25. It's unbelievable how work is done here... clearly a tourist hotspot and you don't have to rely on customers who come often... and that's exactly what you get to feel here! Too bad

Super leuke plek in Meersburg. Bediening is goed en erg vriendelijk en het eten is super lekker. Zowel pasta, pizza, vis als vleesgerechten te krijgen. De eigenaar is zeer vriendelijk. We zijn deze week hier drie keer geweest en kregen zelfs een ( gratis) apperatief vooraf. Zoek je een leuke plek om wat te eten, ga dan zeker hier naar toe.

Good restaurant with a great location by the lake! There were six of us and overall we were very satisfied. Pizza and sea bream very good. The salad with chicken was delicately seasoned with vinegar dressing. Please DO NOT use the balsamic dressing as a decoration on the pasta. We'd love to come back. Price performance is completely okay

The boss basically caught us strolling along the promenade - I've never had that before. Service and food were great - nothing to complain about. Food came quickly, minor changes to a meal that was actually on the menu were no problem.

Good location, right on the lake. The service is good and the food tasted great. Only the cake wasn't that great. The cheesecake was too dense and the plum cake wasn't that special either. Felt like we were eating frozen cake. Compared to a nearby café/bistro (cake comes from a wholesaler in bakery quality), this cake cannot compete. Which is a real shame.

Right on the waterfront and with friendly and dedicated service that also took care of charging my watch and cell phone. Then the fillet of Lake Constance whitefish was perfectly fried and beautifully decorated on the red beet risotto. Finally, the original Italian espresso. Top...recommendation!

We sat upstairs in the restaurant and the service there was really bad. Food came before drinks, wine spritzer stale, salad dressing indefinable. The waitress didn't even ask if we wanted something to drink and we had to pay ourselves downstairs. The toilets are very narrow and not clean. All in all we were disappointed and will not visit this restaurant again!!

Unfortunately everything is really very bland, but for people who know little about food, it's exactly the right thing. Because this always seems to be well attended.

A really good restaurant. We ate salad, salmon pastas and a fish. The chicken in the salad was really nice and the fish in noodles as well. Must try the mushrooms in the salad. Really recommended.

Same mishap as a previous customer. We will tell you the amount to pay by card without a receipt. As the amount announced seemed high to me I insisted on having the bill before paying. At my insistence, she called a colleague who issued me the invoice: €17 difference for them. No apology from them. I will therefore not recommend this restaurant or be warned to ask for the detailed bill before paying.

A very nice Italian restaurant right on the lake, the menu has a great selection of fish and seafood. In addition, the classic dishes are not neglected. The prices are absolutely fine for a restaurant in such a great location. The service was very nice and the items were cleared and asked for very attentively. I really appreciate it. A little tip, if the weather is nice you can sit by the windows on the upper floor and have an outstanding view of the lake. We'd love to come back. Thank you for the good experience.

Preparing a Vitello Tonato should be a matter of course and not a challenge for every Italian. Especially since the tuna sauce doesn't have to be freshly prepared. However, if the sauce is a completely over-salted paste, the whole dish is in the bucket. The fresh pizza bread can't save it either. I visited the restaurant because of the good overall rating, but unfortunately I cannot share the rating. A failure. The second photo is for the nice owner of the restaurant, who, after reading my review, tried to convince me that the "sauce" was okay. Any layperson can find out how it really works on the Internet. The owner cannot handle criticism at all. You can see that from the fact that he only thanks you for good reviews. Negative comments are not improved at all. The tables outside are still so close together, even though several customers here have already mentioned this.

I had a terrible experience at Droste-Cafe. We arrived at 11 PM, an hour before closing time and asking for ice cream for our kids, but were rudely refused service despite a server initially offering to help us. The staff was uncoordinated and unprofessional. One server said we can serve you and the other one jumped in and said we are closed. They could have given the kids ice cream to go. The place was clearly open and the two servers were standing outside. There was no movement anywhere to suggest closing and it was more than an hour before their listed closing time. For rude staff and lack of proper service, i do NOT recommend this place to anyone.

We really wanted to sit with a view of Lake Constance. You sit with a view of the lake. Staff is attentive and friendly. The food is mediocre. I had a dish with the peppers and it was oversalted, so I ended up getting a price reduction because of that. My husband thought his pizza was quite good. The drinks - there was a homemade iced tea, but it was almost certainly a bottled iced tea from the supermarket, the homemade iced teas are not that sweet and those from the supermarket have their own taste, no matter what brand and it tasted the same. I found that very unfortunate. Personally, I think the prices for the service are overpriced, they probably charge more because of the lake view and because there are a lot of tourists walking by, some come. I wouldn't recommend until you revise the offer and offer what it says.

Tolle Lage, schönes Ambiente- das ist nicht alles. Ich kann hier nur meine Erfahrung zu einem geplanten Tagesabschlussdrink widergeben. gegessen haben wir hier nicht. das kann also ganz anders sein. Ich hatte eine Moscow Mule bestellt. Nachdem ich neun Eiswürfel zum Teil entfernt hatte, füllte der Ober das Glas wieder auf. Anstelle von Spicy Ginger wurde aber Ginger Ale verwendet. Das schmeckte dann auch so. Der Cosmopolitan für meine Frau war zimlich dünn. Wir zahlten ohne auszutrinken.

Food was delicious, delicious pizza and good mussels (unfortunately the salad dressing wasn't good at all, but that might be a matter of taste). Unfortunately service wasn't good. The waiter had no motivation or friendliness at all, it was more of a check-in. But location is great. If the service was better and it wasn't just about making money, we would come back. A pity.
