Don Giovanni in Berlin

The food was fresh and very tasty. The service was also very good.

We were looking for a good Italian restaurant near our hotel and decided on Don Giovanni. The decor is a bit dated and could use some updating, but everything is clean! The service was very friendly, and our food was very good. The price/performance ratio is unbeatable—almost too cheap. For this reason, we ate there again the next day. Everything was just perfect, and once again it was delicious—high praise!

Very tasty. Great price. We'd love to come back. We ate here for the first time in 2017. We visit this restaurant every time we visit Berlin.

I went to eat at Don Giovanni with my family last Sunday after the Berlin Marathon, and it was delicious, as always. I had circulatory problems after the marathon and had to lie down there. The staff were very caring and helpful. Highly recommended – 10 out of 5!

I chose the restaurant because it appealed to me. It was right next to my hotel. The gentleman who welcomed me was friendly, and the food was truly delicious. The ambiance, with its subdued music, was also fitting and made my stay very pleasant.

Visit, July 30, 2025 Ate a pizza, not recommended, just sticky and bland. The service was friendly. They just added 10 euros to the bill?! I should have checked the bill there and not at the hotel. Never again!!!

It was okay, but I wasn't satisfied with my tuna salad. The whole salad was drenched in greasy, creamy dressing (which didn't taste homemade). My friend's steak looked okay. But the price-performance ratio wasn't right for me.

Don Giovanni was a nice restaurant a walk away from where I stayed, where there were staff that were friendly and many food options that seemed diverse. I got the Kangaroo curry, which was good! The place is well-decorated and is just a nice place to dine that stays open longer than some other places I've seen on maps.

The waiter was annoyed when we asked him for 1 more minute to decide... Frozen Margherita Pizza.... In the end they asked us to pay a surplus on the bill, as if it were a tax....... And so they didn't even respond to the greetings...

Tagliatelle was OK apart from tough chewy meat, surly waiter couldn't have given a toss, I wanted an affagatto with frangelico to finish off but the waiter never came back!

I wasn't expecting to find the best Italian food in Germany, however this restaurant was even more deceiving. If you want a microwave pizza, poor service and quite depressing atmosphere, this is your place. I wouldn't recommend it to la mia mamma. We won't come back.

Perdu en vélo , nous nous sommes retrouver en face de ce restaurant. Une pizzeria ,pensent alors que cela allait être bon. Une fois à l’intérieur j’aurais préféré m’en fuir en courant avant de commander en effet la décoration ainsi que la carte remplis de toute sorte de plats nous en dit long sur la qualité ce ce restaurant… Une pizza congelé arrive en 2 min ainsi que des pâtes dégoûtante . A fuir !

Awesome cuisine. Clean, beautiful :) Locals speak German poorly... and English is even worse :)))) Everything is great, a little expensive, but the food is very fresh. If you don't like spicy food, let me know right away. And yes - book a table in advance!!

The taste of the food was okay, but the waiters do not understand, do not want to know or does not care about how Asian people like sharing their food together. They were very grumpy about giving us 2 more sets of cutleries and 2 small bowls because we wanted to share the food. Please note that all of us have ordered one dish from the menu properly. Also, I heard that they were very unhappy about us staying in the restaurant for more than 1.5 hour, provided that the restaurant was not busy at all and was only half full. We will never come back to this restaurant again as this is the first time I feel pressure from a consistent gaze from waiters which made us very uncomfortable, and it even affected my appetite.

Terrible service that completely ruined our dining experience. We ordered three dishes to share among three people and requested small plates. The waiter reacted with a sour expression, walked off, and muttered something to his colleagues—hopefully not about us. Throughout the meal, he repeatedly hovered near our table, making impatient noises and gesturing to his coworkers as if complaining about us. This happened multiple times, despite the restaurant being nearly empty (only two tables occupied) and it being just 9 PM, with a closing time of midnight. When we finally asked if there was a problem, he brushed us off with a bad attitude. To top it off, the bill included an automatic tip we didn’t agree to. We questioned this, explaining our awful experience, but he denied everything. We paid it reluctantly, but this service was absolutely not worth it!

Just had a pizza at this place, I honestly believe the bier mat would have tasted better. The bearded waiter was one of the most miserable people I've ever met in a waiting capacity, has obviously never heard of the words 'bitte' or 'danke'

Die Gegend, wo Alt-Moabit endet und die Invalidenstraße links abzweigt, die 30 Jahre lang nach wenigen hundert Metern an der Grenze zu Ost-Berlin an der Mauer endete, ist auch heute ungeachtet der Nähe zum Hauptbahnhof keine Ausgehmeile und erst recht kein Ort für Fine Dining. Ich kam hier mehr zufällig vorbei und war bei einem flüchtigen Blick auf die Speisekarte verblüfft, daß hier auch Steaks und (erstaunlicherweise) Känguruh-Spezialitäten angeboten werden. Das wollten wir dann doch einmal probieren und obwohl wir hier noch nie eingekehrt sind, wurden wir vom Chef und seinem Mitarbeiter, die hier beide bedienen, in einer fast familiär anmutenden Atmosphäre nett empfangen. Wie wir dabei erfuhren, existiert dieses Lokal hier schon sei mehr als 20 Jahren. Wir kamen nicht mit großen Erwartungen, aber die Qualität der Speisen hat uns dann doch sehr angenehm überrascht. Zum Auftakt wählten wir eine Knoblauchsuppe -- wunderbar duftend und noch besser schmeckend, schön intensiv im Geschmack, mit Rahm und Käse abgeschmeckt und eine Knoblauch-Intensität, die fast ihresgleichen sucht. Am liebsten hätten wir noch eine weitere Portion bestellt. obwohl die gebotene Menge wahrhaftig ausreichend war. Danach geschnetzeltes Känguruh-Filet in einer Soße aus pürierten roten Bohnen, Zwiebeln, Knoblauch und Tomaten -- angenehm scharf, herrlich sämig, einfach ein Gedicht! Übrigens gab es danach trotz dieser Zutaten keinerlei Verdauungsprobleme, zumal die Zwiebeln ja auch nicht roh waren. Eine gewisse Schärfe sollte man allerdings mögen, sonst bestellt man besser Känguruh-Filet in Pilz-Sahnesoße oder mit Curry-Ananas. Die Portion war groß, denn dazu wurde nicht nur eine große Menge Potato Wedges gereicht, sondern auch (im Preis inbegriffen) ein liebevoll angerichteter gemischter Salat mit zwei Sorten Salatblättern, Tomate, geraspelter Karotte und einem feinen Dressing. Das Fleisch war zwar nicht butterzart, aber auch nicht zäh. Es hatte eine sehr schöne charakteristische Geschmacksnote. In Zeiten der mancherorts völlig verrückt anmutenden Forderungen mancher Wirte, die für ein Essen 40 Euro verlangen, das dann nicht einmal die Hälfte wert ist, erlebt man das Don Giovanni als eine Oase vernünftig moderater Preisgestaltung und, soweit das Urteil nach einem Erstbesuch angemessen ist, durchaus hervorragender Qualität.

A down-to-earth, solid restaurant. We were there with friends on Christmas Eve. The menu was extensive plus an extra menu! Requests regarding the side dishes were fulfilled without any problems. The service was friendly and quick. Finally we could under various. Digestif make our choice. We will come again👋

The pizzas looked like pancakes and tasted like them too. The waiter was begging for a tip and when we didn't give one he told us not to come back. The whole restaurant felt like a simulation, maybe that's a result of the cheap prices.

Yesterday was the last time we will visit the restaurant. For the THIRD time there were discrepancies in the billing. There were supposedly a few drinks open again. We refused to pay for these drinks. The waiter then inquired and told us about the drinks were for another table. The crowning achievement was the waiter's statement that the farewell snap would be canceled BECAUSE we didn't tip enough. The cheekiness doesn't have to be rewarded with further visits.

Super delicious food at excellent prices

Server tried swindling me with an artificial “tourist tax” for a to go order for two totaling about ~ $40. When I informed him I had been twice before with similar orders and there was no such tax, he said that there’s a city wide tax in Berlin of 10%+ at every restaurant. That’s when I called him out on his bluff and he threatened to call police on me and forbid me to return. $4 or $5 dollars isn’t much. But we stood and waited and for quite some time weren’t offered water or anything, which is completely fine. But to lie your way into a tip is dishonoring and speaks to what may be off about this establishment. Lying is always bad business, no matter what. We won’t be returning.

I ate at your place on my last trip to Berlin, but as soon as I entered the restaurant I noticed that we were getting extremely unfriendly looks. In addition, the service staff were very slow when placing orders and the waiters made meaningless comments about our orders. The food was okay for the price. However, I would not come again and would not recommend the restaurant.

We were there today with 12 people between the ages of 2 and 70. Super nice service, excellent food - all 12 dishes came at the same time! Unfortunately we don't live in Berlin - otherwise we would certainly be regular guests in the future...

I was recommended this restaurant by a work colleague and I have to say, the praise wasn't a lie. The food was excellent, the costs were moderate. A restaurant that I will visit again and again with other colleagues.

Had pizzas which looked like they were bought from Lidl and put to oven. Food was really poor, service was medium level. Obviously too many items on the menu for them to handle even quarter of them.

Always very nice and always friendly staff and the food is really very good. The only thing I don't like is that someone in a wheelchair can't go to the toilet. Otherwise I can only recommend the Don Giovanni restaurant 👍

Nice outdoor area for eating, quite a quiet corner and easy to reach by tram. Food was excellent. Pollo / rump steak grilled with chanterelles and broccoli.

Despite a valid and confirmed reservation, there was no reserved table here on the evening before the Berlin Marathon, because apparently none! Reservations would be available for that evening. The owner blamed the reservation platform. This easily affected 100+x guests that evening. The food was okay, but nothing special. As far as the ambience goes, a bit of renovation should help. Foreign language skills (English!) were not necessarily available among the staff. Price/performance was okay, but we won't be coming back.

Decidí pasar el canguro, y seleccioné un plato de pasta de Tagliatelle Salmone en una salsa de pimienta en grano rica y cremosa. Para una cerveza elegí el infierno Benedicktiner. Estaba contento con las cantidades y la calidad.

Made the decision to eat here based on the reviews here. And absolutely no regrets. The staff seems stiff but they are friendly. The food is no nonsense and simply good. In terms of the decoration of the restaurant itself...it is a bit dated, yes, but that has its charm. Definitely recommended.

The service was very attentive and friendly and the food also tasted very good. I ordered spaghetti aglio e olio but unfortunately didn't see the word "spicy". And it was really, really spicy. So I asked the waiter if I could get some still water or something to neutralize and I was offered a new meal without hesitation. I found that very thoughtful. Many thanks to the service and the kitchen. I'd love to come back there.

Disastrous service... two people wanted to sit outside... 10 free tables for four... actually almost the entire restaurant was empty... an absolutely unfriendly waiter said they had to sit at a table for two... we complained and got up and went to another pizzeria with excellent service. You shouldn't go here🤮!!!

Great place to eat if you are around Berlin Central Station, it's about a 7-8 minute walk from there. The food is delicious, the service was great and the restaurant itself is very well decorated. Will definitely eat here again!
