Wunderschöner Biergarten! Die Speisekarte ist überschaubar dafür aber sehr abwechslungsreich und viele Speisen für Vegetarier und Veganer. Die Auswahl ist abwechslungsreich und nicht wie überall. Die Speisen waren sommerlich dekoriert und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Und das hat man auch geschmeckt! Wir haben sofort Wasser für unseren Hund bekommen und wurden freundlich empfangen. Trotz des vollgefüllten Biergartens war der Service freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sehr großes Lob an der Stelle! Man merkt einfach, dass hier großer Wert auf Qualität, Frische und Gastfreundlichkeit gelegt wird. Ich kann die Distelschänke nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!!! Wir waren am Sonntag gegen Abend dort um gemütlich und lecker zu essen. Der Biergarten sehr einladend und mäßig voll. Der erste Eindruck, bestens. Die Speisekarte übersichtlich aber für jeden was dabei. Wahrscheinlich haben wir völlig daneben gegriffen mit unserer Auswahl. Schnitzel, Buttererbsen und Schwenkkartoffeln und Bechamelsoße. Klang gut. Was kam... zwei kleine völlig totgebratene/fritierte, leicht nach oben gewellte Bretter, trockene Erbsen, eine kräutrige Mehlsoße, leicht gebräunte Kartoffeln. Die Deko haben wir völlig vermisst. Das gesamte Essen ohne jegliche Würze. Bis auf die Mehlsoße, die wenigstens nach getrockneten Kräutern und Mehl geschmeckt hat. Fertigsoße eben. Konsistenz und Aussehen möchte ich gar nicht beschreiben. Preis-Leistung in keinem Verhältnis. Insgesamt eine riesen Enttäuschung und zum essen kommen wir ganz sicher NIE WIEDER. Die Bedingungen nett und sie flitzen eifrig umher. Leider merkte man sehr deutlich das es durch die Bank nur Aushilfen waren. Entsprechend wurde auch mit der Kritik wegen des Essens umgegangen. Schade, schade, schade. Nicht zu empfehlen. Kleiner Nachtrag auf die Reaktion vom Inhaber... 1. Wir haben der Aushilfe unsere Kritik mitgeteilt. 2. Wie oben angemerkt, die Aushilfen waren sehr nett und flitzen wie die Wiesel. 3. Ist es nicht sehr professionell vom Inhaber zu kommentieren,die Kritik sei Respektlos. 4. 2 Stück trockenes Fleisch macht auch das Gewicht nicht besser. Und die Geschmacklosigkeit des Essens ebenfalls nicht. Leider. Sehr unmanierliche Reaktion auf diese Kritik.

Ich stelle immer wieder fest, ich bin zu selten hier. Das Essen ist super lecker und der Service auf den Punkt.

Wir haben die Jugendweihe unseres Sohnes in der Distelschänke gefeiert und waren rundum weit mehr als zufrieden. Unsere Gäste und wir waren begeistert vom superfreundlichen Team, dem leckeren Essen und dem tollen Ambiente. All unsere Wünsche wurden umgesetzt und wir hatten einen tollen Tag. Tausend Dank dafür!

Leckeres Essen & schöner Garten mit völlig überforderten Servicekräften (trotz geringer Auslastung). Bestellungen wurden immer wieder vergessen und einzelne Personen aus der Gruppe mussten bis zu 45 Minuten auf ihr Getränk warten (auch nach mehrmaliger Nachfrage). Eine Veranstaltung würde ich dort nicht mehr feiern, da die Kommunikation und Planung auch im Vorfeld bereits sehr schwierig waren. Aber für ein schnelles Essen oder einen Kuchen im Garten ist die Gaststätte empfehlenswert.

Wir hatten eine Familienfeier mit 50 Personen (Kaffee und Abendessen). Die Planung im Vorfeld war sehr angenehm - auch wenn man nicht immer gleich eine Antwortmail bekommt. Auf alle Wünsche und noch notwendige Änderungen wurde sehr eingegangen. Der Tag selber mit Essen, Service und den Räumlichkeiten (Gartennutzung und Innen) war einfach nur gelungen und die Gäste und wir haben den Tag sehr genossen. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Abend in der Distelschänke. Der Ort ist ein absolutes Idyll, mit herzlichem Personal und super leckerem Essen. Gerne kommen wir wieder wenn wir das nächste Mal in Jena sind. Weiter so!!

Die Distelschänke befindet sich in einer Gartenanlage. Sehr viel Grün und Platz im Außenbereich. Ideal für Kids. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ich hatte Würzfleisch als Vorspeise und Gulasch mit Käsespätzle. Das Würzfleisch ist der Klassiker -- immer Gut. Besonders das Gulasch möchte ich hervorheben. Das teilt sich den Platz 1 wie ihn meine Oma zubereitet hat. Sehr zart, es zerging wie Butter -- ein Gedicht. Die Käsespätzle waren auch sehr lecker und die Salatgarnitur frisch, knackig und es waren lilafarbene Möhrenstücke dabei, somit wurde das Auge mit bedient. Hier zu essen kann ich jedem empfehlen.

Wir haben uns mit der Familie getroffen und sind gezielt eingekehrt. Allein die Reservierung war völlig unkompliziert und online möglich. Es gab sogar eine Erinnerung per E-Mail. Wir würden super freundlich empfangen. Es würde gleich gefragt ob wir noch was brauchen. Für den Wuff würde ein Wasser Napf zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Bedienungen hatten immer ein Lächeln auf den Lippen und waren immer zuvorkommend. Die Auswahl der Speisen ist klein aber dafür sehr fein und passend zur Saison. Es war schön angerichtet, das Auge aß mit. Die Distelschänke bietet viel Platz im Innen- und Außenbereich. Zwischenzeitlich gab es keine Sitzplätze mehr. Vielen Dank. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Alles super! Wir hatten Gerichte von der Tageskarte bestellt. Das Essen kam schnell an den Tisch und war sehr schön angerichtet.

Sehr frisches, handgemachtes Essen. Es zieht mich wieder hin, da man sehr schnell einen Parkplatz findet und das Essen und die Atmosphäre gut sind.

Zum Mittag sind wir nach einem Spaziergang in die Distelschänke eingekehrt. Die Speise- und Getränkekarte hat für Jeden etwas zu bieten. Die Schränke befindet sich in einer Kleingartenanlage. Mit der Auswahl der Gemüse ob als Beilage oder als Hauptgericht, wird ein passender Bezug hergestellt. Unser Essen und der Hausglühwein haben uns sehr gut geschmeckt.

Ein sehr feines Restaurant ist das! Ich werde zeitnah wieder hier speisen.

Man bemüht sich in dieser Gaststätte, den Aufenthalt der Gäste so angenehm wie möglich zu machen.

Bislang versprüht es noch äußerlich den Charme einer Kleingartenkaschemme, aber das Engagement, das Essen und die Ideen von Helen und Hannes zeigen, in welche Richtung es geht.

Yesterday I had a big birthday party at the Distelschänke with 75 guests, a band, and a DJ, and we danced until late into the night. I give you 10 stars for your venue and your wonderful service. The food was, as always ; ) fantastic...a magnificent buffet with delicious treats. The cheese and spinach dumplings are simply amazing, and the buffet completely blew all my guests away. And that's saying something! You made everything possible for me: the decorations, the performance by a private band, the fire for the cozy atmosphere outside, and the super relaxed, friendly, and attentive service that kept the place rocking even after midnight. I'd love to celebrate again next week. Keep up the great work! Your tavern is a dream place to get together and enjoy yourself.

A hidden gem! We visited the Distelschänke with a small group and received a very warm welcome. They had a wide selection of drinks, including regional specials. The menu is small, with additional daily specials that change regularly depending on the season. And the food was truly exceptional! Many vegetarian dishes, with a modern twist and absolutely delicious. Everyone was very satisfied. The atmosphere is cozy. And there's a larger room that can be used for events and celebrations. We'll definitely be back!

A real insider tip! The food was incredibly delicious – you can immediately tell that the food is cooked with love. While there isn't a huge selection, every dish is fresh and prepared with love. The staff is incredibly friendly and makes you feel completely at home. The small, hidden location adds to its special charm – almost as if you've discovered a culinary gem. And as a highlight, there's a short comedy show that creates a really good atmosphere! Highly recommended – I'll definitely be back! 🍽️

A fantastic beer garden offering a breathtaking atmosphere for dining and drinking. A must-visit destination in Jena. The Distelschänke is perfect, especially for larger events in the summer. Children have the opportunity to let off steam on the playground, while adults can relax in the green surroundings. The Distelschänke is a wonderful place for celebrating, especially on long summer nights. When people complain about the noise or other issues, all I can say is...be glad there are still places where you can do something like this. I'll definitely be back and am more than impressed.

Located below the Jenzig River, this restaurant invites you to linger. Excellent cuisine and friendly service ensure a wonderful stay. They even serve the "Burschenpils" beer from the paper mill >>> simply fantastic.

I find it extremely inconsiderate to regularly blast the entire neighborhood with loud music (using amplifiers) until 2:00 a.m. and later, and later with the uninhibited roar of the guests. On June 28, 2025, it was once again particularly extreme. Perhaps a report will help...

We recently spontaneously stopped by for dinner. We asked about an hour in advance, and there was still room for us. We had a table in the beautiful, lovingly tended garden. There's plenty of room for kids to play. There's also a small slide and a sandbox. There are also cherry trees for snacking 😉 The food and drinks (garden lemonade, homemade iced tea, Jenaer Burschenpils) were delicious. The service was also super friendly. We'd love to come back and recommend it to everyone.

I have often stopped by the Distelschänke since it reopened in mid-2023. Whether at the end of a bike tour or as a place for a small birthday party, I am 100% convinced. I also recently ordered catering to another location and it went down wonderfully. The variety of cuisine and the solid range of drinks are just the basis of this wonderful restaurant. I had the pleasure of trying the Dry Age Goulash at the restaurant and I have to say it was an absolute delight! The meat was incredibly tender and perfectly seasoned. Every forkful was a pleasure and thrilled me. I would also like to particularly emphasize the service. The staff was not only extremely friendly and accommodating, but also very attentive. Since I can only eat small portions, I was offered half a portion of goulash. Overall, a great experience that I can highly recommend to everyone. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

On the way back from Jenzig, we decided to stop at the Distelschänke for a little something to eat. I was lucky and managed to get the last very tasty cabbage roulade from the daily offering. The homemade seasoned meat is also highly recommended. Overall we were very satisfied and would love to come back. It's a shame that the Distelschänke is hidden behind a high hedge and it's difficult to see whether it's open. For this reason, people probably just walk and drive by,
