My favorite restaurant in Jena and actually all of Thuringia. Nowhere else will I receive such a warm welcome, friendly hospitality and authentic cooking. It's always a pleasure to be there and I'm already craving the delicious food the next day! The team is super friendly and warm and very pleasant to serve.

Hello to all readers, I was here for the very first time. Overall, I knew what to expect when it came to the food. The dishes are also worth an experience, me and my companion had a tasting platter for two people with all the options. We liked most of them, but unfortunately one or two were too spicy for us. But as we all know, tastes are different. That's why "only" 1 star deducted from the rating of the food. The service started off strong with a recommendation of a personalized platter (half vegan, half non-vegan). Towards the end we were no longer noticed, even though we would have liked to have ordered something for dessert. The 1 star is to start with the recommendation. The ambience, however, is a bit small but still nicely and appropriately furnished. Very nice to look at. 4 stars for that. Further information: Even if we caught a day, I would recommend reserving a table as there are days when it is quite busy.

The Ethiopian Restaurant is a charming, if small, establishment that is appropriately decorated and offers a pleasant atmosphere. The design of the restaurant is attractive and creates an authentic atmosphere. Unfortunately, space is limited and the chairs are not particularly comfortable, which makes a longer stay less pleasant. Nevertheless, the manageable menu offers something for every taste and the prices are quite reasonable. Another point of criticism is the service. Although the staff is friendly, a single server is often overwhelmed, which can lead to longer waiting times. However, the food itself is a highlight. The dishes are well prepared and offer authentic Ethiopian flavors. Overall, the restaurant is a solid choice for a quick, tasty meal, but not necessarily suitable for an extended stay.

Although the foods are a little bit expensive for students, I would say if you want to tast the Ethiopian foods specially their delicious bread " Injera " which is served with all the foods here is the best option in Thüringen. The design, the hospitality and services are perfect. In addition do not forget to try Ethiopian cafee 😋😋

We found it really tasty. Nice atmosphere, good music, friendly staff. It was definitely a new experience because there is no cutlery. Everything is authentically eaten with hands. Recommendation!!

A small, typical Ethiopian restaurant, very lovingly furnished. The service is extremely friendly and the food was very tasty. You have to like eating with your hands, but you can also have cutlery. Personally, I love eating without a knife and fork. A clear recommendation from me for a visit.

We were there on a Saturday evening and made a reservation. We were there shortly after opening, along with another table. The food was delicious, but we had waited almost an hour (!) for it, which of course wasn't okay. No idea what the problem was. Maybe the kitchen just wasn't ready, but we weren't told anything. So you should expect a longer waiting time. Space is also limited, so reservations are recommended.

Were visiting Jena and went here and it was very good to go here. The meal was delicious.

Enjoyed a tasty vegetarian mixed plate with lentils, spinach, cabbage, potatoes, salad, injera and more. A real gem. The hot chai was tasty to drink. The furniture is cool, and the people are friendly. Nice dinner spot!

Delicious cuisine, European spicy. Since you eat with your fingers, there are a sufficient number of napkins at the table. Price-performance ratio is absolutely okay.

Interesting restaurant. There is Ethiopian beer and original Ethiopian food. The number of tables is very limited. It's best to reserve in advance. The menu is manageable and the prices seem to be okay. The service is friendly and you get generous portions that are eaten with your fingers. Gladly again.

So far it's nice, but 'never again'. The 'bread' is more like our egg tarts, but is not a problem. The chicken piece was found hidden under the sauce. The other plate more than half rice. The beef is still quite hard. The waiter was friendly but busy with his laptop. Quite a bit of meat for the price and the smell in the dining room was a bit specific. Unfortunately the Ethiopian beer was out.

It's okay. It's Ethiopian food, but not a cuisine that is extraordinary. The interior looks nice, but the chairs are very uncomfortable. It was a nice experience but not a restaurant I will visit again.

Lecker, gewöhnungsbedürftig mit der Hand zu essen, das Bier hat sehr gemundet, niedrige Tische ungewohnt. Aber immer gerne wieder.

Wenn man einmal etwas neues ausprobieren möchte und nicht Lust hat den zigsten Burger zu essen, ist dieses Äthiopische Restaurant genau das richtige. Das Essen ist vielfältig und sehr gut. Für meinen Geschmack war mein angegebenes mildes Gericht schon sehr Scharf. Das Bier war nicht schlecht und mit den Händen zu essen war mal was anderes. Die Tische sind sehr niedrig, das war etwas Gewöhnungsbedürftig aber alles in allem passt der Stil dazu. Beim Ambiente habe ich einen Stern abgezogen da ein Räucherstäbchen brannte, und ich diesen Geruch als sehr schwer und aufdringlich empfand und ich nachdem essen sehr froh über die Frischluft draußen war. Aber das ist nur mein Empfinden. Preislich fand ich es voll in Ordnung. Für einen sehr vollen Teller und ein 1 Bier 20 €. Passt. Alles in allem kann und würde ich den Laden weiter empfehlen und selbst noch einmal dort essen.

Wir waren mit einer größeren Gruppe dort. Der Kellner war bemüht und auch höflich, die Sitzgelegenheiten sind sehr spartanisch, niedrig und somit nicht gerade gemütlich. Die Sprachbarriere ist leider etwas hinderlich, meist versteht der Kellner aber was man möchte. Das äthiopische Bier ist sehr teuer und natürlich nicht zu vergleichen mit deutschem Bier, kommt natürlich auch aus den Niederlanden ;). Die Wartezeit war angemessen, das Essen kam leider nach und nach an den Tisch. Das Essen war geschmacklich richtig lecker, es ist allerdings sehr fleischlastig und das Gemüse war m.M. nach zerkocht. Leider wird einem nicht erklärt, was man da isst. Wir haben eine gemischte Platte ausprobiert, die Variation war ausreichend und das Teffbrot hat locker gereicht. Der Preis ist angemessen. In Jena, mal etwas anderes als der ganze Standard > Döner/Pizza/Asia-Mist. Kann ich nur empfehlen.

Dieses äthiopische Restaurant bietet eine authentische Küche und Einrichtung. Die Gerichte sind wirklich lecker und das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Ich war begeistert von der Erfahrung und kann es jedem empfehlen, der eine echte äthiopische Küche erleben möchte. Es ist ein großartiger Ort für ein unvergessliches Essen mit Freunden oder der Familie. Insgesamt eine großartige Erfahrung!

The BEST kitchen in Jena, I guarantee it!

Not happy. To make a long story short. Food was obviously thawed and prepared way beforehand. Some of the food was warm / some just thawed from the freezer. Overall both chicken and lamb were good extremely greasy. I had to order two main dishes. Each arrived with a maximum of 50 grams of meat. Totally unacceptable pricing for what you get.

Mal was Anderes - äthiopische Küche ohne Allüren aber authentisch (sagen die befreundeten Äthiopier) und extrem lecker. Etwas Gewöhnung braucht es für das Essen ohne Besteck, aber das dauert keine fünf Minuten... Für Erstbesucher empfehle ich die gemischte Platte (mit Fleisch oder vegetarisch), je nach Gruppe für 1, 2 oder 4 Personen - dann ist man auch wirklich satt und hat einen guten Überblick über die einzelnen Gerichte auf der Karte für den nächsten Besuch. Wir kommen jedenfalls gerne wieder!

Ich hadere wirklich zwischen 2 und 3 Sternen: das Essen war lecker und das äthiopische Bier schmeckt auch gut, ABER P/L ist extrem unverhältnismäßig. Wir hatten zu viert die vegetarische Probierplatte und es war am Ende nicht mehr als eine Vorspeise. Auf Nachfrage dann die Antwort, dass hier halt die Fleischportionen fehlen, da wäre es mehr - wild! Also als Vegetarier gibt es keinen Ausgleich, sondern einfach weniger. Natürlich kann der Kellner hier nichts für. Im Nachhinein wäre es wohl klüger gewesen 2x2 oder 4x1 Probierplatten zu bestellen, beim Blick auf die Nachbartische wirken diese viel üppiger. Schade, beim letzten Mal zu zweit war es besser!

Super Essen und sehr freundliche Bedienung!

Wahnsinnig leckeres traditionelles Essen, sehr freundliche Bedienung und wunderschöne handgeschnitzte Einrichtung. Ein absolutes Highlight in Jena. Die Krönung zum Abschluss war der Haustee mit Ingwer und Rum.

Kurzentschlossen zum Äthiopier zum Essen. Der Service ist gut und aufmerksam. Das Essen ist ein Erlebnis, was einem mit dem gesamten Ambiente auf eine kleine Reise entführt. Empfehlenswert!

Mega leckeres Essen in stilvollem Restaurant. Dass man hier ohne Besteck isst (was erstaunlich gut funktioniert), sollte einem aber bewusst sein ;-)

Sehr leckeres Essen und einzigartig in Jena und Umgebung. Das Personal ist auch super freundlich und aufmerksam. Leider sind die Tische bzw. Stühle etwas unbequem, ansonsten aber alles super und daher trotzdem 5 Sterne.

Nicht ganz so meinen Ansprüchen entsprechend gewesen.
