We (the couple) can't understand some of the very negative reviews. Both the appetizers (mussels and the appetizer salad with crab) and the main course of fish & chips with truffle mayo were delicious and the portions were truly generous. We had a reservation on the terrace, and a total of three waiters served us very friendly, personable, courteous, and attentively. Terrace: Because the tabletops could use a bit of paint and the palm trees could use some TLC, I've deducted a star. However, we definitely recommend it... The food and service were top-notch! We'd love to go back! PS: We reserved via the app.

I'm reviewing the kiosk. €9 for a salmon sandwich is a big deal. I expected something special for that. Nothing to be found. The kiosk is very inconspicuous, barely noticeable. The seating is very carelessly placed directly behind the restaurant. An absolutely elite location – the owners obviously don't need it (anymore). Such a shame about this fantastic location.

I've rarely had such a bad meal and such a bad seat in the draft because all the doors were open. The meatballs were extremely dry, the lukewarm fries felt more like strips of cardboard. A €25 halloumi burger with a 10-cent supermarket bun is a disgrace. The only positive thing was the friendly service.

Super friendly service, a great selection of food and drinks, and fair prices. It's the perfect place to end the evening after a long day at the beach.

I was there last week with four other people, and the food left a lot to be desired for all of us on every level: The fries were rancid, the salad with the baked potato consisted of two leaves and three cubes of beetroot, the portion of North Sea crab ordered on top (costing €11) was no bigger than a heaped tablespoon, the vegetarian schnitzel was a Mühlenhof convenience store, the fried potatoes were deep-fried, and the brownie was burnt. Considering the prices they charge, that's beyond outrageous. The only thing that really stands out is the view—but next time I'd rather climb the viewing dune.

We were here with #Bigfoot and #Littlefeet to grab a bite to eat after a day at the beach. To say it straight away: it wasn't good. In previous years, you went to Strand 33 and knew what you were getting. Now, unfortunately, you don't and to make matters worse, the food wasn't ok either. The burger was ok, the fries were big and probably fried with old oil... at #Bigfoot and #Littlefeet the fries were still not tasty and the schnitzel was prepared with a breading that was very flavorful and just didn't hit the spot. Unfortunately, the other guests at our table also left a lot behind. And before anyone here starts doubting my review because of the pictures, it really was like this. The one waiter was very quick and wasn't really surprised that so much food wasn't eaten well. The young waitress who brought everything was good. And we all wondered whether we were doing the new restaurant an injustice. But if it doesn't taste good, you're not doing anyone any favors by sugarcoating it. Be that as it may, people used to know that Strand 33 still had not a great kitchen, but it tasted good. Unfortunately, this is obviously no longer the case. Incidentally, I don't really know what the Kniep actually stands for. According to the name, it stands for the beach and its sand. You notice it but not at all in the restaurant. Love is simply missing. Before, we knew that Strand 33 had a soft spot for wine. And now? There were tools in the entrance on the left. What's really good is that there are now sofas and a table football table in the back room. The concept is also intended to appeal to a younger audience with the loud music. I would venture to guess that this will miss the mark, as most vacationers are older. Long story short: we won't be coming back here any time soon. Oh well: clean the windows and use soap on the toilet and the world will look a little different.

After "Strand 33" moved out, now "Am Kniep." They're making an effort. Some processes need to be improved. We visited twice. On one occasion, the main course arrived just as the starter was being served, and on another, the main course arrived significantly long after the starter. My wife (Amrumer roast beef / lasagna) and my daughter (halloumi burger / vegan schnitzel) enjoyed the food very much in both cases. I found the crab soup (€12) very tasty, but I wouldn't order the fish & chips (€26!!!) again. It was too dry. The location and the view are happy to compensate for one or two things that could be improved. We hope that the very friendly service team and the entire crew will continue to be successful in the long term.

New owner, but just as good. Delicious food, exactly my taste, although the menu selection is limited. Very pleasant, friendly, and efficient service. And the ambiance, right on Germany's most beautiful beach, is hard to beat ;-)

The location is great. The tables outside are a bit shabby and don't reflect the price. Nevertheless, the seating is comfortable. The food is also okay, but not worth the price. It's just missing that finishing touch. Not everything was available, but we weren't told about it until we ordered. Service was good! Overall, it's a place where you can eat without hesitation. If you want a really good meal or something a little cheaper, there are other places. Specifically, a side salad with the schnitzel or fish and chips would have been very welcome.

I had fish and chips at the kiosk belonging to the "am Kniep" restaurant, and unfortunately, I can't recommend it. The three tiny pieces of fish were drenched in undercooked batter. The fries were okay, but for €11, that's unacceptable. Unfortunately, I won't be going back!

I remember the ambiance from last year; the view of the beach is second to none. The reservation was made online and without any problems. Unfortunately, it was impossible to reach the restaurant by phone because the owner had switched on his voicemail, according to the text on the phone. I had to ask whether the reserved time could be moved forward by an hour due to scheduling constraints. Since no communication was possible by phone, I unfortunately had to cancel the appointment, even online, which worked fine, which was a shame. I can't comment on the food because I didn't eat anything. The ambiance was absolutely good. The service, and I'm counting the telephone exchanges here, still leaves a little to be desired, but maybe that will improve. All in all, though, I'm still willing to give it 4 stars, without the food. Maybe it will work out next time. Never say never.

We've known the restaurant for many years with the previous owners. We loved it there. Unfortunately, we can't recommend it at all now. We ordered from the kiosk: we ate outside on the terrace and were bombarded with loud techno music. The prices are incredibly high for what was unfortunately not good. The fries were uncooked (raw), and the fried fish had half a bunch of leaves on it – careless. We won't be back.

Last year it was still called Kombüse, this year it's in the former Strand 33. All the bad reviews here are completely untrue. The service is excellent, the food is excellent, fresh, and plentiful, and the ambiance is fantastic. The location was already top-notch the last two years as Kombüse, but now it's unbeatable. We were fans of Kombüse and we're still fans now at Am Kniep. It is and remains the place to be.

Congratulations, dear "Am Kniep," for the successful takeover of this unique restaurant and the courage to continue operating this great restaurant, especially during these times. The staff is extremely dedicated, the food is good value for money, and we would be happy to return.

The outdoor terrace offers a wonderful view of the sea. The food is classic bistro fare—nothing special, but very well prepared. The service is extremely friendly.

We read the reviews here and wanted to form our own opinion. We, for one, don't share or understand the negative opinions, but perhaps some opinions have recently led to a rethink, which we can't judge. The service during our visit was extremely friendly and courteous. We got our table right away and immediately felt welcome and comfortable. Even later, when it got chilly, everyone was asked if they wanted a blanket. The food was very good, and everything arrived at the same time and quickly, so everything was perfect in that regard. The location is unbeatable anyway. We'll definitely be back and can highly recommend the restaurant "Am Kniep" to everyone.

Incredibly outrageous prices for absolutely subpar food. The potato had more in common with applesauce than with a potato. It was impossible to order a €24 burger without a tomato. Even McDonald's is more flexible.

Not at all sheltered from the wind, absolutely overpriced and half the food had to be returned because it was so disgusting.

We always enjoyed going to Strand 33, but our visit under the new management was a huge disappointment. Many dishes were no longer available, and what we got was more like fast food quality at completely inflated prices. We won't be coming back.

We had a wonderful evening at the Am Kniep restaurant. The service was very friendly and accommodating. We had made a reservation three weeks ago and got the table we wanted. The fish soup and garlic cream soup as starters were very well seasoned! For main courses, we had the dumplings and the trout with almond crust, and were impressed by the quality. We were more than satisfied and would love to come back. The stunning view, in particular, invites you to linger... and a romantic evening is also possible here, with a stunning sunset on a balmy summer night ❤️ and a beautifully prepared cocktail 🍹

Disappointing visit after change of management – unfortunately, no longer recommended We have been regular guests on the island for many years and always enjoyed our visits to the former Strand 33. This year, we were all the more excited about the "new" restaurant after the change of management. Unfortunately, our anticipation was quickly dashed. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we weren't truly welcome. The staff seemed overwhelmed and not well-coordinated. The head waitress, in particular, stood out for her superficially friendly, but ultimately very brusque and uninviting manner. There was unfortunately no sign of genuine hospitality. The restaurant also failed to impress in terms of cuisine. The fish soup tasted more like an over-seasoned goulash soup, and the main courses also fell far short of our expectations – average at best. The restaurant's greatest asset – its stunning location directly on the beach – unfortunately remains completely unused. So much could be done here, but the new operator doesn't seem to recognize or want to utilize this potential. Overall, our visit was very disappointing, especially compared to the positive experiences of previous years. We hope things will change—unfortunately, we cannot currently recommend the restaurant.

Unfortunately, contrary to the stated time, it closed at 3:30 p.m. The notice says it's open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. On the beach? Seriously? Never again!

In short: We had dinner with this new operator last night and can only agree with the realistic, negative reviews. Their IT presence suggests a situation that is completely unsustainable. The price/performance ratio is abysmal. Never again for us.

Very tasty food in the former "Strand 33." Great view, good, attentive service. If the restaurant survives the initial phase, it's definitely worth making reservations. The vegan and vegetarian options are available, but there's still room for improvement.

The wait staff are friendly, but have little knowledge or speak little English. The rump steak was not medium, but well done, and lacked the advertised fat. The grilled vegetables consisted of 80% cheap bell peppers. The fruit side dish was superfluous: the mango was rock-hard, and the dragon fruit is, as we all know, completely tasteless. They had apparently never heard of gluten-free options. The drinks menu lacks any information about the fill volume of the wine glasses. We regret having spent over €100.

We went to the associated kiosk. The service was friendly, but the currywurst and fried fish sandwich were truly awful, and the prices were truly steep. Incredibly poor value for money. You sit on exposed concrete with no sun protection or view of the water. It's amazing where so many positive reviews come from...

The location is simply fantastic! The service was very friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious with some reservations. However, some of the food only partially lived up to expectations and price. We had reserved well in advance and were assigned a table in the drafty entrance area. After we complained about this, they were willing to set a table at the edge for us. Other set tables in the back remained unoccupied the entire evening. Incomprehensible. Unfortunately, the wine glasses were not cleaned and had dishwasher marks, as did the knives. The sirloin steak, described on the menu as tender and lean, was tough in places and had a noticeable amount of fat. To finish off, the requested chocolate dessert was sold out, and the aquavit was also out. The alternative nightcap was tasty, but also came in an unwashed glass. Perhaps we were just unlucky, but as regular Amrum travelers, we will eat elsewhere in the future and enjoy stopping by for a beer on the terrace. Perhaps with clean glasses.

Small, fine restaurant on the beach in the north of Amrum. Nice, friendly staff. Delicious, freshly prepared food. Local ingredients. A kiosk is open until 5:00 PM for snacks. The view of the beach is breathtaking. We'll be back. Highly recommended.

The starter was delicious and arrived very quickly. We had to wait an hour for the main course. The waiter informed us about this after about half an hour. There was a larger group present. Unfortunately, we didn't get the main course together. The brioche on the burger was very hard. The steaks, however, were much worse. They were only partially seasoned, the meat was lukewarm, and only partially medium-rare as ordered. The herb butter was frozen and couldn't be cut. It also didn't melt on the steak, which was only lukewarm. After complaining, we were given another steak, which was as expected. We also received a free drink. Despite everything, the overall impression remains negative. The price-performance ratio here is completely out of whack. I'm happy to pay a higher price for an exceptional place, but the quality has to be right. The ambience was also rather sterile and austere. Anyone familiar with the old Strand 33 may be disappointed.

First of all - the food is great. Of course, sometimes you wait when things are busy, but that's completely normal. The prices are also okay for Amrum, not cheap, but you get something for your money. We went there for the third time this evening (for good reason) and once again had great food. The pasta from the truffle dish was probably changed due to some bad reviews (yesterday I had tagliatelle - today linguine) The dish was prepared once with blueberries and once with pomegranate seeds. I think the variety is great. The fries are also extremely well made and the edamame are also different than usual, but very good. We'll be in Amrum until Tuesday and today wasn't the last time in the restaurant. In addition, the staff is very friendly and the restaurant is beautiful - and of course extremely close to the beach.

Sorry no, that was nothing! The food really surprised me in terms of taste, appearance, quantity and price, so it wasn't convincing at all. It can't just be a sea view. Unfortunately, my conclusion is: disappointed.

You definitely can't get closer to the sea or the beach, the location is great. Young staff, creative dishes that are served quickly. We had the peppers as a starter, puristic and ideal as a healthy start, with just the right amount of garlic oil. Then the big salad with halloumi and the three types of dumplings with lots of arugula on top. Plus the restaurant's great new Amrum beer. Life can be beautiful!!!

We have been coming to Amrum regularly for ten years and have visited this restaurant every time - it has been an integral part of our holidays. Unfortunately, a lot has changed this year. The restaurant has a new owner, a new concept, a new interior and unfortunately a completely different atmosphere. As always, we reserved a table in advance so we could have a cozy meal with the family. When we arrived we were greeted by a young, unfortunately very arrogant waiter. Even though the restaurant was almost empty, he led us to a table right at the entrance with a view of the kitchen and the exit - not a particularly comfortable place. I asked kindly if we could sit at one of the free tables by the window. The answer was that they had already been “reserved for a long time” – even though we also had a reservation. So we stayed at our assigned table, but the rude tone of the waiter made me lose my appetite. I only ordered still water and a vegetable soup, which unfortunately was hardly seasoned and only lukewarm. My husband and son had the fish soup and plaice - these dishes were also significantly better on previous visits. The waiter brought us the closed water bottle and placed it on the table without comment - like in a canteen. And the strangest thing: the three tables by the window remained empty throughout our entire stay. Nobody came. Overall, the service was disappointing and the food far below the usual standard. It's a real shame how this once special restaurant has changed. We will not visit again in the future and we will also advise our friends not to. My husband, who usually tips generously, didn't leave a cent this time. We have never felt so unwelcome there. P.S.: The current interior does not correspond to the photos on the website

The best thing about the restaurant is its location. The ambience is reminiscent of a train station waiting room, including the background noise. The service staff really tried hard, but seemed constantly overwhelmed. Changes to the courts were categorically ruled out citing “too much work”. Drinks came quickly, but glasses had to be ordered separately for the bottled soda and the bottled beer. Unfortunately, 50% of the dishes we selected were no longer available. The starter soups were plentiful, but only lukewarm and the spices were probably already out. The main courses were also plentiful and varied, the burger was very tasty and the pasta was cooked without salt and the sauce had no spices. Both together weren't hot either. The salmon with the pasta was good. The prices are completely excessive for the quality of the food, the ambience and the overwhelmed service. One more thing: you've gotten used to the ubiquitous black disposable gloves in a certain restaurant style, but if you don't change them between collecting cash, wiping the table and touching food, then they're pointless... 😉

We actually came here based on recommendations and wanted to eat something near the beach. Despite a late table, the single service member was very busy and it took almost 20 minutes before we even ordered. The menu offers a few dishes that are not typical of the island, but the bowl with rice was very dry. The vegetarian currywurst was very good, only the chips with dip tasted very floury. Unfortunately, overall we weren't convinced by the taste and portions compared to the price.

Baulich ist das Gebäude in einem beängstigenden Zustand. Die Auswahl der Speisen hat davon aber wieder viel gut gemacht, da diese auf der Insel einzigartig ist. Die nette junge Dame hat uns sehr gut bedient.

The galley offers small pizzas, bowls, currywurst and other little things. Priced more in the middle range. But the bowl tasted great. The restaurant offers a great view☀️

Unvergleichlich schöne Location mitten in den Dünen, das Essen war reichlich, kreativ angerichtet und sehr lecker. Auch für unseren Hundejungen gab es einen vollen Napf Wasser und ein schönes Schattenplätzchen am Rande. Danke für das tolle kulinarische Erlebnis!

What should I say except thank you? Sure, a lot. We arrived hungry and thirsty after hiking around the northern tip. Immediately friendly greeting and we were given a table for four. The waiter brought cards and shortly afterwards we were able to immediately order the drinks, which he had brought with what felt like the speed of light. A quick cheers and now we were hungry. Same game, order - magic - delivery. We asked for a large portion of ketchup and mayo and got a plate full. This is how customer service works with fun, passion and humor. Later a colleague asked if we wanted something else to drink and I clapped: He gets: but he gets a straw in his beer. Guys, the grin was so great and only her smile when she served the special beer with a straw. Great. Taste 10/10, ambience 11/10, service 15/10 and humor is no longer measurable. Small and awesome is an understatement, the portions are impressively large and it's really awesome. So great and thank you so much. Later there was another shot at the house. I can only recommend the XXL currywurst with fries.

Nice place! Completely inconspicuous from the street, seemingly deserted. But when you get to the top: big surprise! Phenomenal view of the beach, wind-protected panoramic terrace, friendly staff, chilled music and, above all, delicious food. There are lots of little things (the baked camembert in beer batter is awesome), but also real filling things (e.g. various pinsas (pizza-like sourdough shop) and delicious bowls). The focus of the menu is on vegetarian and even vegan dishes, but meat lovers will also get their money's worth (e.g. with delicious special cordon bleu or fantastic roast beef bruschettone). The ingredients are fresh and cleverly combined. The staff is super friendly and approachable. I'm already looking forward to the next evening in the galley!

Simple, casual and family-friendly panoramic restaurant with bistro dishes. We were served quickly and friendly. The pinsa could have been spicier for our taste, but the sunset with an Aperol Spritz in hand was gorgeous.

Unfortunately, the galley didn't convince us. Maybe we just caught the wrong day. In any case, our Gin Basil was warm, the tortillas were almost burnt and the dips were bland and boring. The bowl was just a salad with hardly any rice and the cordon bleu was completely over salted with a flocculated, unidentifiable dip. Only the currywurst was okay and the location on the beach with a playground was of course spectacular.

The food was really delicious and the service was attentive and friendly. Even when it was busy, they took care of all the tables. They made up for a small mistake with very good service.

Ein sehr schön und gemütlich. Wir sind sehr gern in die Kombüse gegangen. Der angrenzende Spielplatz ist ein absoluter Vorteil für Mama.

"High up", view of the beautiful evening sky, North Sea. A slightly different selection of dishes, here you'll feel like trying something new. Lots of vegetarian dishes, the chef really goes wild 😊. I stuck with the tried and tested, the cordon bleu - huge portion and very tasty.

Our favorite place in Amrum! Bright, colorful, good vibes and a nice view! Food is good (great vegetarian choice) and reasonably priced, service is excellent and very attentive, especially the manager. Bingo nights are fun- thank you we will be back!

Great restaurant, attractive atmosphere and a large selection (including vegetarian/vegan dishes). The portions are large and very tasty (also very nicely presented). Accordingly, the prices are reasonable, especially when compared to other restaurants on Amrum.

An unserem letzten Urlaubstag zum ersten mal die Kombüse ausprobiert. Sehr freundlicher und aufmerksamer Kellner, Chili cheese fries sehr gut, Burritos auch gut (hätte gerne etwas Gemüse dabei sein dürfen) - insgesamt ein sehr schönes Abend!

Wir sind unglaublich begeistert! Seit wir von der Eröffnung gelesen hatten, stand ein Besuch während unseres Urlaubs ganz oben auf der Liste. Letzte Woche war es dann endlich soweit! Und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht!!! Das Essen war super lecker, der Service glänzte durch Freundlichkeit und Aufmerksamkeit, das Ambiente ist mega und der Blick von der Terrasse grandios. Aber am meisten beeindruckt hat uns die Aufgeschlossenheit und die Freundlichkeit unseren Hunden gegenüber! Sie bekamen trotz nassem und sandigen Fell eine große Kuscheldecke und auch einen großen Napf Wasser und wurden herzlich willkommen geheißen! Mega!!!! Vielen Dank!!!!!!
