Had a BBQ burger with a gluten-free bun. I have to say, it was the tastiest burger I've ever eaten! Absolutely delicious meat, the burgers carefully assembled so that, despite their size, you can eat them in your hand. Everything was top-notch!

Sauces cost extra, which I don't think is explained clearly enough, but they were very tasty (truffle mayo and sour cream). The Spezi from the bottle, which you get yourself, costs 4.20. The Veggie Paddie wasn't bad, but not particularly good either.

A staple of my annual trade fair visit to Cologne! Delicious burgers, fantastic chili cheese fries (and, above all, lots of them!), and a pleasant atmosphere. It can get crowded at peak times, but so far we've always managed to get a seat, no matter how busy it was.

Best burgers in Cologne, but location and especially the self-service are disappointing

We had high hopes for the Fette Kuh after reading so many positive reviews, but were sadly disappointed. The burgers were rather mediocre in taste and didn't live up to our high expectations. The fries were particularly disappointing: at €6.20 for a regular portion with two sauces, they were quite expensive – and quite burnt, too. Overall, a rather disappointing visit that didn't live up to the hype.

First of all: the food is delicious! The food comes quickly. The ingredients seem high quality. However, the service is disastrous. The lady behind the counter – who calls herself Vanessa according to the receipt – is beyond arrogant. One is forced to think that she gave this place its name. I paid 70 euros!!! for 5 medium burgers – two of which were cheap kids' burgers. I shared the salad as a side dish with my wife. A drink costs up to 3.30 euros. Considering that it's all self-service, you're sitting on a noisy street and the tables are still piled high with dirt from the previous diners. I won't be going back to this place. The price/performance ratio is completely out of whack. All the dishes together were worth no more than 35 euros.

This way, it never gets boring, and you're always excited to see what the team has come up with each time. The atmosphere is relaxed and authentic, exactly what you want from a really good burger joint. Even if it's a bit busier at times, the wait is worth it! Bottom line: If you love burgers, you can't go past the Fette Kuh. Absolutely recommended, especially for those who appreciate variety and quality.

Good Burger and self-service. Asked the cashier for sauce recommendations and was told they are all good. Nothing wrong with that, ordered two that sounded interesting. My friends food came out quickly mine took a bit longer, but I rather have a well prepared burger than a rushed one. Still can't say I that it tasted like anything special, it's a solid burger and fries.

The staff, or even the manager himself, didn't even offer a sincere apology, but instead tried to downplay the incident in front of the other customers. And it took forever...if the health department knew about this.

It's self-service, and you sit at simple bistro-style seating. But you get what you'd drive over 50 km for: first-class burgers, delicious fries, and sauces!

For around €15, the burger is honestly dry (we ordered medium but it was cooked all the way through). I swear, if it had been juicy and tasty, I would have happily paid €15 for the burger, but it tasted absolutely dead. Maybe we didn't get a good one, but for a €15 burger (without drinks and without fries), it has to perform.

It's always a special experience to order and eat there. The staff are friendly. You can eat in or take away. Everything is freshly prepared when you order. Of course you can expect to wait if the place is busy. You can either stay inside to eat - but there is a lot of smoke and smells from the grilling - or you can eat right outside. It's right next to a road with exhaust fumes and noise :-). So you can think about where you want to eat :-). The food is fresh and tastes very good. The prices are overpriced in my opinion. The quality is good, but a small bowl of fries, even if they are made from fresh potatoes, is simply too much at over 6 euros for a bowl. You should definitely visit at least once.

The burger patty lacked flavor, and the Gruyère cheese I paid extra for had no distinct taste. The bun and fries were good. I liked the truffle mayo, but the regular mayo was too watery, which hurt the overall taste. BBQ sauce was also runny but tasted better than the mayo. It's my neighbour's favourite, and I thought I gave it a try. It didn't disappoint. The burger is very juicy and properly grilled to medium. The quality of the vegetables is amazing, very fresh and crunchy. The sauce is tasty and and the bun is just perfect. One of the limited hamburger place with proper Belgian beer like Duvel and La Chouffe. Very generous portion. Bacon jam is just scrumptious. Highly recommend if you are in Südstadt.

Top burger of the week and great fries

I'm just reviewing the food here: - Burger bun is absolutely bland, tasteless. The burger itself, however, in the mix with the patty/extras/sauces is quite okay. Nothing special. Just a solid burger. - Fries were soggy, completely without salt and unfortunately cold - Coleslaw is swimming in marinade and is too sour - I ordered 2 extra sauces: both absolutely bland in taste and absolutely not worth it. I would order the burger again but no more side dishes or sauces. Portions are large but unfortunately the taste is just totally boring.

That's why I was really happy to finally be able to eat there again with the family this evening. Unfortunately, this joy was quickly dampened. The burgers - otherwise juicy, tasty and perfectly grilled - were burnt throughout today. It tasted like old or even burnt fat had been used. Even the fries couldn't save us: far too oily and the taste was far removed from what I used to eat. I know that everyone can have a bad day - but unfortunately this was a big disappointment, especially when you come with good memories. I really hope it was just a blip, because what once defined the Fat Cow was no longer felt tonight.

Way too expensive for what you get. I paid €20 for a burger and fries without a drink and that was worth a maximum of €11-12. Standardbueger as it tasted in 2011 doesn't come close to smashburger or something similar and just found it far too boring with dry bread.

You can certainly get cheaper burgers elsewhere, but hardly of this quality. And the weekly special burgers are sometimes the most unusual burgers I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Unfortunately, sometimes it's chaotic, especially when it's not clear who should pick up the freshly prepared goods at the counter because it gets lost in the noise. And the counter is blocked by other people waiting who don't make room. The service here should at least ensure a little bit of order, that would at least be nicer for the customers.

The Fette Kuh 🐮 has been my absolute favorite burger shop for years. In my opinion, the best quality in the surrounding area and great and creative new burgers every week with the burger of the week. The staff is always nice and accommodating - even when it's busier - the service clears up very quickly and, above all, almost everything is homemade. For the quality offered, the price is absolutely justified and a very good price/performance. 10/10 :-)
