Absolutely loved it here! Last time I went was 20 years ago. It is now so popular that you need to book to get a table. SO worth it. Food was authentic and delicious, ambience perfect and great service

Nice atmosphere. Unfortunately I ordered roulades, they didn't blow me away and the red cabbage didn't taste like anything. I can't say anything about the other food.

Unfortunately the goose was very dry and the service wasn't the fastest. Beer lasts forever. Time window only 2 hours.

We are in Berlin once a year and then visiting the fat landlady is an absolute must. The food is good German bourgeois cuisine and the ambience is a Berlin restaurant. There probably aren't many of them left. But Iris is particularly noteworthy with her warm, rough Berlin manner. Without her, the fat landlady would probably only be half as good. Oh yes, we will probably remember the Ratzeputz for a long time 😂 We will be back next year in November.

No trip to Berlin is complete without a meal here.

Our group of 10 people have again reserved a table to eat goose leg/breast at the Fat Landlady. Unfortunately there is no comparison to the previous year. The goose leg looked gray and therefore the appearance was not that appetizing! Taste ok. Red and kale were good. The dumplings could also be used as golf balls. The cold cat was rock hard. Waiter's comment: They come from the fridge too. Too bad! Unfortunately, the very nice waitress from last year also had her day off. We will look for another location for next year.

Quaint, Berlin inn with over 80 years of tradition, probably one of the last originals. Rustic, regional good Berlin cuisine with friendly service. Not far from the Theater des Westens, 8 minutes walk and open on Sunday lunchtime 😋

Authentic, nice atmosphere. Service was friendly. More touristy. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that good. We had two types of sausages (including currywurst), neither of which we liked. Overall, the quality didn't seem particularly good. Then you'd better go to the curry sausage stall around the corner...

Fantastic decor and atmosphere. Staff are hard working, friendly and efficient. It can sometimes be a challenge to catch their eye but every request is promptly and correctly fulfilled. Food was very good

We had a reservation for 4 people at 6:00 p.m. for today, November 20th, 2024. There were Königsberger meatballs, breaded poultry schnitzel, stuffed beef roulade with red cabbage and Schupfnudeln. Everyone was super happy with their food. The fat landlady simply cannot be beaten. When have you ever experienced a waiter asking you if you wanted some more sauce for the roulade?? My father was happy. The atmosphere is always nice too. I could stay there for hours and the time would fly by. The waiters always have a casual saying on their lips...everything is relaxed and informal. Thank you very much ❤️

Anyone looking for a special restaurant with good German cuisine and Berlin charm has come to the right place and for us after a Trabi ride at a company meeting it was just the thing! The food on the November menu with various dishes with goose was all very good, and everything else was completely satisfactory. The ambience is also weird, cult-like and definitely special!

Very unfriendly. Even at birthday dinners, people are constantly looking at the clock and telling them to leave so they can cash in. Never again.

Delicious food, real Berlin service, really good. The only annoying thing is the 2-hour reservation slots.

My experience when I visited the landlady: the atmosphere was old and dusty, the chairs were unhygienic and rickety. The waiter is a complete catastrophe as soon as you come in and lets you sit there for 20 minutes without paying any attention. The end of the song got up after 20 minutes without paying any attention and left the store.

Delicious, authentic German and Berlin cuisine!

Today we visited the restaurant again after a year. The quality of the food has deteriorated, the service was good but a little too personal for my taste. The atmosphere with its "residents" was more than disappointing. The mice are running around in the restaurant and towards the kitchen. When the staff are made aware of this, we are told that this is well known and the problem would be combated. If there are several mice running around, it seems to be a bigger problem and we wonder, are the employees turning a blind eye just to avoid losing sales. Not only was our table only reserved until 6 p.m., which we hadn't actually intended and they kindly told us this only when we ordered our drinks, but we also missed out on another stay with the rodents. This restaurant is no longer recommended!

We had dinner there for Christmas two years ago. We liked it so much that we wanted to do it again for Christmas this year. Unfortunately, reservations can ONLY be made online and you have to have a credit card. Since we don't have one, we unfortunately can't make reservations, so only two stars for the service.

We had a lovely evening here yesterday with delicious food right at the counter. Thanks again to the great team - it was really fun with you 🤗 If we can somehow we'll come back

Great food. Family service. And interesting kitsch decor. The sausage and potatoes and cabbage was sooo good. Many types of non standard beer and their own brandy. The rhubarb brandy was excellent

Very quaint restaurant with a great ambience. Typical very hearty Berlin dishes, but they are too greasy for me. Large selection of beers.

The service is simply 'Berliner' - super personable and attentive - praise to Sabine who served us: attentive and entertaining - we'll be back... for sure - why? the ambience is simply unique and rustic and cozy the food is more than tasty & completely sufficient ... and the employees are simply super customer service-oriented... What could be better? Not much - the waiting time was a little longer this time than last time...

Followed a TripAdvisor recommendation for this on our first day in Berlin. Overall, glad we did. It’s certainly an authentic experience. Picture having a very hearty meal in your old Aunties musty spare room and you’re about there. It isn’t cheap and I can see why some reviews say the service was a little frosty. The guy was fine with us however. In summary, glad we went and saw it. Food was ok but wouldn’t return.

Great cozy (not too big) restaurant. Even though it was packed, the service was very nice and relaxed and always in the mood to have fun. The food was great and the price/performance ratio was absolutely fine. It is advisable to reserve in good time!

An absolute highlight of our Berlin trip. Had to go there! The food was super tasty - decent home cooking. We got a nice seat in this great atmosphere without a reservation. We'll be back. Because I was so excited, I completely forgot to take photos. Pure enjoyment

It’s FINE. There are better German restaurants in Berlin. The beer is good. I didn’t like how grumpy and unwelcoming the staff all are, until the bill arrives and he’s suddenly charming and has the cheek to ask you to add a tip (which awkwardly I felt I then had to). It’s really not hard to be a little more friendly and earn the tip.

I've been going to Berlin once or twice a year for decades. I actually chose my town based on the “fat landlady” because the food and drink there was always good (even if it wasn’t exactly cheap) Now I was there again. Since reservations are now only possible at 6:00 p.m. or 8:15 p.m. and I could not guarantee a safe arrival at 6:00 p.m. due to the “reliability of the German railways,” I chose the time at 8:15 p.m But since my stomach was actually hanging in the back of my knees at 7 p.m., I ate a little something at a fast food joint beforehand. In the Fat Landlady I was repeatedly asked if I wanted to eat something, which I said no. At 9:45 p.m. (my bill for drinks at this point was almost €40.00) I was thrown out with the advice: either I would order something to eat now or I should please leave the restaurant. Upon request, I was at least allowed to finish my drink and then leave, even though a quarter of the pub was unoccupied. Does that really have to be the case? They could have sat us at the bar from the outset...or simply played with open cards and written when making the reservation "table reservations only possible if food is ordered". So it all just leaves a bad impression. As a regular customer for decades, I will never set foot in the “fat landlady” again!

Been coming for 30 years. Not anymore. I had ordered a table for two people. What we weren't told was that there was a food requirement. We just wanted something to drink. After more than 2 hours and several questions asking if we wanted something to eat, the service came around 9:45 p.m. She said the kitchen was closing soon. If we don't order anything to eat now, we'll have to leave the restaurant. That's what the boss said! So we did that too. But, a clear message to the management: that's not possible!!!

Good Berlin cuisine at Savignyplatz. I have everything from meatballs to pork knuckles. Also a large selection of different beers. Unfortunately, they serve in shifts, so we had to leave the restaurant at 8 p.m.

Wow if you visit you must reserve for dinner. We called in at 5pm and the whole place reserved out for next few days, but we managed last 2 seats at the bar only. Great old pub and a key heritage pub in Berlin. Great food and beer and a real treat.

The rustic, cozy pub has something of an institution. Because we didn't have a reservation, our seat was at the counter. We had a lot of fun listening and watching the service ladies and the experienced barman with their cheeky dialect. Königsberger meatballs tasted like they did back in the day at Aunt Emma's and a normal person couldn't handle the schnitzel portion. Hopefully the innkeepers stay true to their style.

When you enter you are told very clearly and unfriendly that it is a restaurant. You just don't want to drink anything. Order was taken and food arrived 30 minutes later. The schnitzel was practically unseasoned and very dry. The fried potatoes for this were swimming in oil. I used a napkin to create an "oil barrier" on the plate so that the meat didn't get soaked in oil and I could at least eat the schnitzel. The Fat Landlady lives from the recommendations in various travel guides/travel sites. Without tourists the restaurant wouldn't survive. Absolutely no recommendation from me.

Staff and beers were really good, and nice surroundings too. When we went in we asked the manager for a table and he was visibly annoyed when we only wanted drinks. He did tell us we could only stay for an hour, but was a little rude about it. But the other staff were 10/10

Wow! I wanted a real local experience and this than hit the mark. Service and the Snitzel was amazing! Thomas the bartender makes even a tourist feel like a local.

Cozy, old-timey restaurant in the heart of Charlottenburg, serving a variety of classic Berlin / German dishes and drinks. Food servings are generous, and staff is very welcoming.

You like it or not! We found it really cozy! It's not fancy, just quaint. Various pictures and knick-knacks from the flea market. You're sure to always find something new here. Plus music from the 60s/70s with Heintje, Roy Black, Rudi Carell, ... The service was very nice. The portions are huge. The schnitzels barely fit on the plate. There is still some room for improvement in terms of taste. But it's quite an experience. Better reserve a table!

Een paar jaar geleden hier ook gegeten. Toen getipt als één van de betere restaurants van Berlijn. Nu was niks minder waar. Door drukte in het openbaar vervoer waren we 2 minuten te laat. We hadden om 18.15 gereserveerd. Bij het noemen van de naam waarop we gereserveerd hadden, wees de eigenaar (man in Hawaï blouse) naar de klok. Het was niet dat het zo druk was, ondanks de tijdsblokken en het dringende advies om te reserveren. We werden met z'n vijven aan een veel te klein tafeltje gezet. De tafel naast ons was ook vrij en veel ruimer. Daarnaast was de bediening ook niet erg professioneel. Ze waren niet allemaal even vriendelijk. We zijn hier vrijwel direct na het eten gegaan. Het eten was verder wel prima. Maar het totaalplaatje maakt voor mij dat ik hier niet snel meer naartoe zal gaan. Er zijn genoeg plekken in Berlijn waar het net iets beter is.

This restaurant is a must for any local for visitor to Berlin. The schnitzel is the best I’ve ever had - and I grew up in a German-Slovenian household! The beers and deserts were wonderful. This is my happy place restaurant.

You HAVE to stop by when you are in Berlin! It is quite the gem. The portions are big so arrive hungry.

Fried potatoes were fried with old oil. Not a good price/performance ratio. No decoration, such as a tomato or cucumber slice. No lettuce leaf. Nothing for decoration. Little choice.

Never go here. It was the worst service I have ever had. She was so rude and made us feel uncomfortable. Worst restaurant in Berlin and Europe.

DONT GO HERE. The blonde waitress was the rudest person we've ever met travelling. You should no longer work in hospitality if you don't want to be kind. We didn't end up eating or drinking because of how horrible she was to us and to the staff around her. Yelled at us on entry. Threw menus at us, horrible to her female staff member. Don't go here.

Cozy restaurant on a side street. We spontaneously walked by and tried it out. Service staff is nice. A space was made available for us outside... inside it also looked cozy and therefore well attended. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. The portion size was also good for the price. Absolute recommendation if you are nearby and like to eat German dishes.

Suitable for eating German food. The weather was hot so I ate schnitzel because they said they didn't have Haksen when I went there. The portion was very large, and the only drawback was that the schnitzel had a bit of a porky smell. When ordering schnitzel, jam must be requested separately.
