Dera Restaurant Dresden - Pakistani Dera in Dresden

We ordered and picked up food on September 25th, 2024. The prices on the online menu are outdated and are now a good 20% more expensive. It borders on fraud if the advertised prices are not updated. The food is provided in aluminum containers. This is disgusting, a waste of resources and not good for your health. There was no difference in the level of spiciness of the dishes, some of which were ordered “mild and very spicy”. Everything was very mild. The chilies were probably out. No card payment and no proper receipt, let alone entertainment receipt. Here we are probably working past the tax office. The vegetarian starter platter we ordered contained poultry meat pakora and the lentil soup also consisted of 30% poultry meat. Absolutely unnecessary. All in all an extremely bad experience. We haven't been this disappointed in a long time.

I recently dined at Dera and had a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The ambiance was cozy and reflected the rich culture of India and Pakistan. We ordered the Chicken Curry and Mutton Grill Tikka, and both were outstanding. The Chicken Curry was flavorful with tender chicken in a rich, aromatic sauce. The Mutton Grill Tikka was perfectly grilled, with a smoky, well-spiced taste that left us craving more. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite, and the naan bread was soft and delicious. The service at Dera was top-notch—attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. The prices were reasonable, making the quality of food and service even more impressive. In short, Dera offers delicious, authentic Indian/Pakistani cuisine with excellent service at a fair price. I highly recommend it and look forward to my next visit!

I had the experience to visit this restaurant with a friend of mine. We were greeted by Mike. He was such a nice guy. Food was top-notch. The service was on time. They had a number of options. In a sum, one of the best restaurants in this region for pure Pakistani food.

Highly recommended!! :-) With empty bellies and thoughts of “not eating kebab again” we walked down the street past the Dera Restaurant. We spontaneously decided to go out for a delicious Indian/Pakistani meal again and were not disappointed. Service: The service was super open-minded, friendly, polite, accommodating, relaxed and competent when we asked questions about the method of preparation. The menu was varied and extensive without seeming too overwhelming. Food: After initial concerns about the well-known spiciness of Indian food, we each received a totally delicious dish that was very pleasantly seasoned. It was also enough so that we were very full. In terms of taste, it was a surprise because we didn't get a "one-size-fits-all" meal but actually freshly prepared ingredients in a consistently delicious recipe. The price-performance ratio was simply great!! Ambiance: A small, cozy, traditionally decorated restaurant where you are sure to find a cozy spot without feeling lost or cramped. Overall, it was a really great surprise to find this restaurant. We learned that quality and service are very important here and we were really happy about that. We'd love to come back! :-)

Very nice and helpful waiter. The food wasn't quite perfect, but we liked it. The portions were too big and it was a bit more expensive for us, around €18 per person, but that's what we expected in Germany. I highly recommend it.

Biryani was microwaved and the chicken had a weird texture. Something I found out about this place, they own the "indian" restaurant next door too and some of the same food is sold at double the price here. Stale atmosphere but the server/host tried his best to make it comfortable.

We had made a reservation, but the restaurant was closed when we arrived. We asked the kebab shop next door if they knew anything. The owner came out there and opened the door for us. It smelled strange in the restaurant and was extremely cold. With his somewhat rude manner, we decided to leave the restaurant because there was no chef there and we had the feeling that our food would come from the kebab shop next door. It's a shame... We were really looking forward to it. You shouldn't be fooled by the great photos on Google.

My experience at Dera was a very pleasant one over several visits. The various dishes all taste very good and the service in the restaurant is TOP. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.

A real highlight for the holiday! We ordered something - for the first time - and the food was heavenly! Top value for money, incredibly tender meat and super seasoned! A feast! Gladly again and then next time definitely on site! I would have only deducted half a star because ordering online using the form caused some uncertainty as the order was not confirmed so quickly.

Dera was an amazing find during our trip to Dresden. The food was super yummy and the service was very very cordial ( one of the best we have encountered in Germany so far). Definitely recommend.

Best service I had so far. Very friendly host and very tasty food. We tried vegetable biryani and palak paneer. On our special request they also prepared and brought the food in just 10 minutes for us. Thanks a lot for your hospitality! :)

The food was okayish. The grill dish is not supposed to have curry on top. The customer service was really nice. The atmosphere was strange with unpleasant music in the background.

Das Essen war richtig lecker und die Preise sind absolut fair, aber das Highlight war der sehr zuvorkommende Service. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen, es wurde in genau den richtigen Abständen gefragt, ob wir noch etwas bräuchten und es gab sogar eine Aufmerksamkeit des Hauses. Die Herzlichkeit des Kellners hat eine richtige Wohlfühlatmosphäre geschaffen. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Gutes und perfekt gekochtes indisches Essen. mit ausreichenden Portionen und dieses Restaurant liegt in einer sehr ruhigen Straße von Dresden. sehr freundliches Servicepersonal.

Die Bedienung war super freundlich. Das Essen sehr lecker, kann zu anderen indischen Restaurants keinen Unterschied erkennen. Der Mango Lassi könnte allerdings etwas dickflüssiger sein, das ist uns beiden aufgefallen. Würde jederzeit wiederkommen.

Coming from Australia and spending the last few weeks travelling through Germany eating mostly traditional German foods we felt like something a bit different, so we stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. The food was delicious and great value. The service was the main highlight though, our host was extremely welcoming, friendly and attentive. Would definitely return if we revisited Dresden in the future, thanks again!

My friend and I came on a quiet night and met the owner on the step, having a smoke. He invited us in and turned out to be the friendliest restaurateur I have ever met. By his account, his life was changed the moment subcontinental food touched his lips and he desperately wanted to share it with Germany. We had a long discussion (he sat at our table with us before and after the meal for what may have come to half an hour) about what to eat, in which he recommended many things with equal enthusiasm. My friend, a German, was not at all familiar with the cuisine, so I wanted to show her the classics, and we went with papadams, naan, a mango lassi, a very good vegetable biryani, and a nice chicken tikka (not tikka masala, but a more traditional-looking variant) with basmati rice. It was prepared hot-for-Germany but not in any way crippling, and also came with a local garden salad. The man was much taken with my American accent and my friend's laughter and our interaction, even though he didn't necessarily know what we were saying to each other, gave us a mango liqueur on the house, and talked to us long after the meal, mostly in German with my friend, who translated. He was so warm and gentle that we commented to each other walking back that we rarely feel so appreciated. I would like to think now that we are just highly exceptional people, but my suspicion is that the dude simply finds a great deal that delights him in life. In any event, his enthusiasm is contagious. I highly recommend Dera Pakistani.

Essen war sehr lecker und das gesamte Ambiente mit einer sehr netten Bedienung. Wir haben leckeren Nachtisch und ein Mango Schnaps aufs Haus bekomme. Fühlten uns sehr wohl und gut aufgehoben. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Ich habe heute Abend dort sehr lecker gegessen. Es gibt eine reiche Auswahl von Vorspeisen. Ich hatte sehr schmackhaftes Gemüse im Kichererbsenteig. Reichhaltig und typisch gewürzt. Die Vorspeise rei ht gut für 2 Personen und kostet weniger als 6€. Als Hauptspeise hatte ich ein Lamm mit Spinat und Nan mit Knoblauch das war unglaublich gut gemacht. Hier wird mit Herz und Verstand und frischen Zutaten gekocht. Auch der Service überzeugt. Von mir gibt es 5 Punkte, gerne hätte ich 6 gegeben, das geht aber leider nicht. Ich komme wieder!!!

Essen war super lecker und reichlich. Die Bedienung hat sich bemüht aber kam sehr hektisch und unprofessionell rüber. Es gab zwei Speisekarten mit abweichenden Preisen, was auch erklärt, wieso sich bei der Bezahlung verrechnet wurde und dann trotz angemessenem Trinkgeld noch Geld nachverlangt wird.

food was good, but as the only people in the restaurant we waited about 1 and a half hours before serving. they forgot the menu, didn't serve any appetizers and stayed in the back and didn't check on us the whole time. we should have left. never again.

Excellent food, service and prices!

It was two of us on a Monday evening and it was a very cosy atmosphere. The decoration was really good with a bit of Indian mixed with some Arabic touch, giving the place an exotic look. The food was really delicious keeping in mind it is adapted to the western taste. And the best part about the experience was the employee. We've never came across someone who is so friendly that we sat down and chatted for almost an hour after the dinner. It was a wonderful experience and I'd recommend it to everyone.

Super leckeres Essen zum guten Preis. Ich hatte Shahi Paneer und noch nie so viel Käse 😊 es gibt verschiedene lassi Sorten, zb auch erdbeere und banane. Sehr großes Angebot an Speisen, Getränkeangebot klein gehalten, Alkohol so weit ich weiß, nur auf Nachfrage, aber das hat mich überhaupt nicht gestört, dank der tollen lassis. Der Service war top, super nette Bedienung, sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich! Wir kommen definitiv wieder 😍

Das Essen schmeckt super gut und ist recht günstig. Man hat keine lange Wartezeit, sondern wird schnell bedient. Es gibt sehr viele vegetarische und vegane Optionen.

Das Dera Restaurant war eine positive Überraschung. Die Bedienung war extrem freundlich und unterhielt sich auch gerne mit uns, das Ambiente war sehr angenehm und das Essen fantastisch; es hat mir und meiner Familie sehr gut geschmeckt und es war reichlich Essen für den gezahlten Preis, so viel, dass wir das Übriggebliebene mitgenommen haben. Es ist auf jeden Fall sehr preiswert und ich würde es jedem empfehlen für leckeres, indisch/pakistanisches Essen dem Dera Restaurant einen Besuch abzustatten! :)

Wir waren Donnerstagabend zu zweit da. Nach dem man sich an den starken Räucherstäbchen-Geruch gewöhnt hat, ist es sehr schön. Die Bedienung war freundlich und es war sauber. Preis-Leistung ist sehr gut und das Essen schmeckt sehr gut. Die Menüs kann ich ebenfalls empfehlen. Wir kommen gern wieder :-)
