The steak was very good, but I would have served it with grilled vegetables instead of salad. The room was relatively clean, but quite worn. The mattress was like a waterbed. I kept sliding down the bed for the second half of the night. It's not for more than one night.

Nice atmosphere, friendly service, good food

Unfortunately, it wasn't good today. Last time I was there in the summer, I was absolutely thrilled with the salad. With shaved Parmesan, it was truly superb. But today... grated Parmesan on top of the salad... the salad was swimming in dressing... the bruschetta, well, nothing special. Very disappointing. My husband's pizza was good. But overall, I was very disappointed. Next time we come to Trier, we'll definitely choose a different restaurant.

Microwaved lasagne that was still cold in the middle. Inedible.

We walked in without a reservation to eat at the restaurant, and luckily a table just opened up! We were served very quickly, and the staff was incredibly friendly and handled everything quickly and efficiently. The food was also excellent, the best carbonara I've ever had, and I love carbonara. The portions were generous, but that wasn't a problem; we could take it home in a container. If we ever decide to visit Trier again, we'll definitely go back! Highly recommended (:

Situated in the beautiful center of Trier lies this hotel/restaurant. I cannot vouch for the hotel since we've only stayed for dinner, but the restaurant is amazing. Authentic Italian food in very generous portions. I have never struggled this much to eat half a delicous pizza in my life, it couldn't even fit on the plate. Luckily they quickly offered to put the remaining part in a to-go box. The service was very friendly and incredibly quick, even though the restaurant was at near full capacity. Pricing is also more than reasonable, especially considering portion sizes.

Amazing food! The pizzas were all at least twice the size of a normal pizza so I recommend sharing, the pasta Agnolotti Burro E Salvia was absolutely amazing! All reasonably priced as well!

The food was delicious, truly phenomenal. The service was excellent, everything arrived quickly, the flavors were perfect, and the location was perfect, just in the quiet.

The Italian restaurant is highly recommended. We had a main course and dessert in a variety of variations and it was very tasty. The service was very attentive and we got a table despite unexpected visitors.

August 10, 2025 We're on vacation in Trier, staying at a different restaurant, but we ate here twice. The service was incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. The first time I had a vegetable pizza and the second time a salmon salad. Both were perfectly prepared, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you, Ristorante Pizzeria Frankenturn!

The pizza, pasta, and appetizers are highly recommended. The 300g Gogonzola rump steak from the menu for €26.90 weighed about 180g. The salad consisted of a few leaves of green lettuce, an eighth of a tomato, and a little onion with vinaigrette... I wasn't full. Excellent pizza next time. Never again steak at Frankenturm.

A simple room in the old town. You'll have to find a parking space yourself in one of the parking garages.

Very tasty giant pizzas, served as a single dish

The first time we went to this restaurant, we weren't disappointed. The prices and service were very competitive. I had spaghetti alle vongole, and my wife had a simple pizza. Plus, an Italian waiter who gave us great satisfaction. We were also kindly accepted with our little pet in a stroller. The empty plate proves that they were good.

Superb food, very clean restrooms except for a few towels on the floor. Otherwise, a very nice restaurant with good value for money. I'd happily go back! 😊

Good food, central location below the market square.

Everything's just right here. Super good pizza, fast service. And you can still get something to eat here when the kitchens at other places have long since gone cold. A definite recommendation!

We stayed there for one night. When we arrived at the entrance, two women were standing outside, staring listlessly and condescendingly at us as we entered the hotel. There was no hello or anything else, so we assumed they weren't from the hotel. When we got inside, one of them came up to us and said we should talk to her and that they were probably there specifically for that. The staff seemed extremely unfriendly. When we got to the room, we discovered that the ceiling in the bathroom was completely covered in mold and the shower door was no longer functioning properly because it was completely broken. Luckily, we were only there for one night, so we could live with that. The only positive thing is the hotel's location. For €74 a night, I wouldn't stay there voluntarily and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially not for a longer stay.

It was a great place to eat, this one of the highlights of our vacation. The people are really nice and that Romanian girl was so sweet and one of the most beautiful girl I have ever seen 😋 If your in the neighborhood just go inside and it won't disappoint you. I didn't realize that the check-in time was 13:30, so I arrived around 10:30. Even when I tried to leave my suitcase or rang the doorbell, there was no sign of anyone coming out. After 11 o'clock, an employee from the restaurant on the first floor came and unlocked the door. he is friendly. The room was spacious, but it took a long time for the hot water to come out, and the water pressure was weak, so at first I thought it was broken.

For us the best pizzeria in Trier! Also in a completely different league compared to other pizzerias in big cities! Great food: both the absolutely outstanding pizzas and the pasta dishes, as well as everything else, is really delicious and great! What's particularly nice is that you can watch the pizza makers and the incredibly delicious dough impressively fly through the air!! In addition, the excellent service must be explicitly emphasized! I have never experienced such friendly, courteous service anywhere else for many, many years! You feel comfortable and welcome! We'd love to come back!!! 👍👍

We wanted to go to the Trier Christmas market and were looking for and found accommodation for two days. Rooms are a bit older but value for money is incredibly good! But I would be happy to replace the hairdryer ;) We had a room at the back, so it was very quiet and you are immediately at the main market. Class. But the food is a highlight. Anyone who likes Italian cuisine will get their money's worth here. The open pizza kitchen in the middle part is particularly great. And it tastes very good too! Clear recommendation.

The pizzeria is really amazing! The best in Trier. And the staff has been the same for years and is always very friendly. I would recommend anyone to stop here for lunch or dinner.

The Ristorante Pizzeria am Frankenturm is a story in itself. For many Trier residents, it's the best Italian restaurant in the city; for us, it was always a place for a cozy get-together with the family, especially on holidays and birthdays. Since I've become more culinary-savvy, I've also sampled the menu here. My interim conclusion: Everything is delicious, but ultimately, the presentation contributes more to the overall impression of the dish than its actual taste. My last visit increasingly confirmed everything I've been trying to forgive for years. This time, it was Taglioloni al Tartufo. The mere mention of the name "truffle" conjures up that iconic aroma. For a modest price of €29, this delicacy was served to me, with a moderate amount of time between the other dishes. The additionally ordered Insalata Siciliana, half leaf lettuce/vegetables, half grated cheese (specifically grated mozzarella), initially came without dressing, which was quickly added later in the form of a thick sauce. The taste was fine, fresh, but also rather unspectacular. When the pasta arrived, this plate shone with a very delicate presentation worthy of fine dining – individual elements were visually appropriate, but less so in terms of taste, but that was only a peripheral distraction. What was sorely missing, however, was the delicate, earthy-salty aroma created by the fusion of truffle and Parmesan, but hope remained until the first fork sank into the mouth – nothing. Given the amount of grated truffles, one would have expected a lot, but this impression was confirmed when it was passed around the table. Ultimately, for me, this only meant that the truffles used couldn't have been fresh. What remained was the appropriate taste of an "Alfredo," the consistency also being fine, but the last few bites could only be savored from an oily soup. The tarnished impression of a few mistakes summed up in disappointment. The remaining dishes didn't seem to impress anyone too much either. In follow-up discussions, it was noted that this had happened several times. The subsequent three-times-presentation of the dessert menu by the staff has already become a habit. I will give the Ristorante Pizzeria am Frankenturm one last chance to see what a pizza is supposed to be and will adjust or add to this review accordingly. My conclusion: Yes, it may be the best Italian restaurant in Trier, but the reasons are sadly shocking: Unfortunately, there are no good Italian restaurants in Trier.

We were very satisfied with the food and service. Very child friendly. A dark-skinned couple sat next to us. They were treated just as kindly and courteously as we and everyone else.

Simply fantastic! Yesterday we had a wonderful evening at the Pizzeria Frankenturm. The food was incredibly delicious. I've been here several times and will definitely come back often. The atmosphere was again very pleasant, cozy and inviting. As always, the service was friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back! Absolutely recommended!

Bad experience Were treated very badly by the service. I don't know where the problem was. We always had to ask for everything and the neighboring tables were served all the time. The pizza was delicious. The carbonara was super bad. Small portion, little bacon and more cream noodles. I don't think there was even parmesan in it. It's a shame given the good rating, we expected more

First of all, we got the worst seat. Then me and my partner were ignored for the entire time except when serving drinks and eating. The waiters were very passive aggressive, I think because of my skin color. The food was also very bad. Every table next to us was served and repeatedly asked if everything was OK. Because of my black skin color, I was ignored. We were looked at aggressively and in a derogatory way. I think it's a shame that in 2025 there will still be racism, especially among people who don't speak German themselves. I will never come there again and everyone advise against.

Very decent pizza at this place, and the price is just right. We arrived for lunch on a busy Saturday in Trier, and we stumbled upon this place. Servers are friendly and the kitchen in fast. I'd be glad to dine here again!

Arrived in Trier...and now enjoy... Among other things, in the ristorante Frankenturm. Rather inconspicuous from the outside, the kitchen is first class. This time I had penne alla panna...and it was perfect. Noodle slightly salty, firm to the bite, hot... the sauce was creamy, spicy, tasted of ingredients and seemed fresh. ..the herbs definitely. Otherwise...Italian...and despite the hotel...a real restaurant. Update 12/24: Pizza Caprese. Wow. The mozzarella was cold. That was exciting and another good pizza. The primitivo nothing special. The Ramazzotti isn't sour enough for me. Still...good location and a lot going on.

Terrible experience. No interest in giving patrons a good experience. It's a dark, dingy place, smells horrible. Owners motivated only by greed. For example, I ordered a glass of wine and got approximately 2 Oz. When I questioned it, I was greeted with shrugged shoulders. That's just one example of several. Staff seems miserable as well.

Starting from the ambience, the staff and the food, everything was a 10/10. The staff was very accommodating and completely professional. There were no problems with any process. We had 1.5 hours because the table was reserved. Not long after ordering, the pizza arrived. You would think that quick preparation would diminish the quality, but the pizza was perfect throughout. Fresh ingredients and a crispy dough, which were perfect together. The price-performance ratio was also absolutely appropriate. Highly recommended!

Due to the many positive reviews, we came here with quite high expectations. The decor is well done, the service is quick and attentive. So the first impression was very positive. The map is manageable, which is a good sign. My barometer in Italian restaurants is the spagetti carbonara. And what can I say, they are served here with cream and smoked meat. Ragazzzi whoever makes pasta with cream will go to Italian hell. Cream belongs in dessert and nowhere else. Apparently the chef is not Italian. The second negative point was the Primitivo, which was served too warm. Unfortunately, this is more the rule than the exception. We've been to Tuscany several times and they can't read the label either. Our noodles were okay but not anymore. The empty dishes were quickly cleared away, but the empty wine glasses were no reason for the service to ask if we wanted to drink something else. Overall, we had the impression of mass processing; we didn't feel like guests.

I had a Sofia Loren pizza, which is famously made with eggs. However, not only was the egg on it, but also a lot of leftover shells. I put it aside on the plate and pointed it out to the waiter when I was paying. I got no reaction other than a shrug of the shoulders - not even an apology or a discount. I found it pretty bold and disappointing. By the way, the egg was more raw than a fried egg.

Great Italian restaurant with mega large pizzas. It was very good. The ambience is great and the open fire oven is impressive. The service guys were quick and very nice. My wife's lamb was also roasted beautifully pink. Gladly again. The store is always busy, so call or come early around 6 p.m.

An absolute hit! 🎯 The Ristorante Pizzeria Frankenturm impresses across the board. 👌 The concept is consistent, the service is top notch and the selection of drinks and food leaves nothing to be desired. 🍽️🍷 I was particularly impressed by the aperitif Ramazzotti Rosato Via - simply heavenly! 🍹 The pizza? Craziness! 🍕 One of the best I've ever eaten in Germany - perfectly baked and full of flavor. The cozy ambience rounds off the evening. 🕯️ We had an incredibly pleasant and relaxing evening. We arrived to spend the night last night and the experience was disappointing. The bathroom was dirty with hair in the drain, no toilet paper (one being just the roll without any paper), the floor had drops of pee. The TV did not pick up any channels as you can see in the photos. We complained through booking where they informed us that they would resolve our problem but they did nothing. The only good things about this stay were the location and the bed, which is wonderful.

Positive: central, quiet, cheap What was very negative for me was that the hotel is not handicapped accessible and that there was no prior information about it. You have to climb 3 steps to the front door and there is no elevator! For me as a disabled person, this was a catastrophe! I had to leave my walker at the front door and carry my luggage upstairs alone. There is also no reception. You get the room key from an electronic compartment that can be opened using a code that you receive by email. No problem for younger people, but for older and disabled people I would advise against the Hotel Frankenturm.

There were four of us. Came by on a recommendation. The restaurant was very busy. The service was super fast, we had vitello tonato and bruscetta as a starter and various pasta dishes (e.g. a la Chef, with salmon, etc.). Unfortunately the pasta wasn't quite done yet. Still highly recommended.

Food deserves 5 star Hotel is 3 star per se. there is a towel that is randomly placed in the toilet when I stepped in the room. The voice insulation is also subpar - I was awaken by my neighbor’s alarm. There’s no AC but a fan. In sum, you get what you pay for

The Frankenturm in Trier offers the best pizza I have ever eaten. The drinks arrived within a minute, and the food was on the table in less than 10 minutes. The service was extremely friendly and the ambience was very pleasant and calm. The open kitchen, where you could watch the chefs working their magic, was particularly impressive. We would like to come again!

Review refers to the restaurant. Every time we are in Trier we go to the Frankenturm, to the pizzeria. From steak to pasta to pizza, everything is great at a fair price. Staff amazing, very attentive, friendly and yet they have everything in view. Respect for that. Clear recommendation.

Not bad, but our room did need an upgrade, some necessary repairs. The bed seemed clean as did the bathroom fixtures. I won't go here again and I won't recommend it. The restaurant, on the other hand, is fine, we had a nice meal there It is directly in the center, you can park your car further away in a parking garage for €18 per night
