Very unfriendly service. The atmosphere is nice, but if you're treated like that, it's simply not worth it. We wouldn't come back.

Instead of a positive impression, the overall experience was rather disappointing. The staff seemed incompetent, worked slowly, and were unfriendly. Furthermore, we had to wait an unusually long time for our drinks, even though they had been ready on the counter for quite some time.

Atmosphere Degusto is a combination of bar, restaurant, and delicatessen. At first glance, the ambiance is quite appealing, but on closer inspection, it lacks quality. The seating is very cramped, some of it on very low stools. It's meant to look casual and cool, like an Italian trattoria, but it doesn't. The noise level is very high. The restrooms are rather average; the high standards set there don't extend to the restrooms. Food Interesting menu, interesting prices, small portions. The quality is very good, but don't expect too much. For example, the (very small) chocolate soufflé for €12.90 didn't even come with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. All portions are quite small. However, everything that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. Service Excellent. Attentive, humorous, quick, pragmatic, and direct. Please keep it up! Value for Money The prices are simply unacceptable. My benchmark is always the price of an espresso: €2.60, a double espresso €4.10. Seriously? Everything else is ridiculously overpriced too. The quality is good, but not at these prices! The place is always packed, though, and people don't seem to mind. Well, I do.

The staff were extremely unfriendly, which significantly detracted from the entire experience. Comprehensive training in professional customer service seems urgently needed at this establishment.

Although we had a reservation, there was no table available for our group. We were then given a table for two, even though we had reserved for three. The staff (the slightly overweight woman and the bald man) were rude to us when we asked if we could have another table where we could order food. The waitress kept walking and ignoring us while we were still speaking to her, and it took 30 minutes!! to bring us the menu, even though she was standing at the counter doing nothing in the meantime. I have never experienced such rude behavior from a waitress before and will never visit this establishment again.

We had made a reservation for three people for a birthday celebration. Upon arrival, we had to wait. We were then informed that the system only recorded two people, even though I had shown the server written confirmation of our reservation for three. No apology was offered for this misunderstanding. We were subsequently seated at a table on the window seat, which was barely adequate even for two people. During our visit, we felt completely ignored, as if they wanted to get rid of us as quickly as possible. We were particularly displeased by a brown-haired, somewhat overweight server who was extremely unfriendly. When we politely asked if she was aware of the table situation, she responded with a curt reply. The gentleman at reception also seemed visibly annoyed. Overall, we felt unwelcome. These experiences made our visit extremely disappointing. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

We were at Degusto in Freiburg and had clearly made a reservation for three people. Their system suddenly only showed us as two, even though we had written confirmation for three. It seems to us that the mistake was clearly theirs, yet there was neither an apology nor any attempt to take the problem seriously. Instead, we were treated with utter disrespect. We were told, "What are we supposed to do?" and "Should we take tables away from other guests?" as if it were our fault that they couldn't manage their reservations. We were then sent to the bar, where we were completely in the way and felt like a nuisance. The service was incredibly unfriendly, at times almost shouting. We have never been treated so badly in any restaurant. It was an absolutely terrible experience. This is no way to treat guests. We are definitely done with this restaurant.

While strolling the streets of Freiburg one evening, we stopped in for dinner. The restaurant was packed, and we were lucky enough to find a table. The atmosphere was relaxed, the music was good, the people were young, the atmosphere was fun, and the food was delicious! We were delighted. Thank you! We'll recommend you to our friends.

I came here for dinner with my girlfriend, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Right from the start, we specifically requested that the starter and main course be served separately. Nevertheless, the main course arrived while we were still busy with the starter – without an apology or explanation. The waitress didn't seem to care. As the evening progressed, no one came back to ask if everything was okay, if we enjoyed our meal, or if we wanted something to drink. The food itself was fine, but the service unfortunately significantly spoiled the overall experience. It's a shame – we were looking forward to a lovely evening, but we were disappointed.

We bought something for dinner. It was on the higher end, but nothing special. You can buy equivalent items for less at the weekly market. However, only at certain times.

€15.90 for the dish of the day, an orecchiette that won't fill you up. Perhaps I was just 15 minutes late and only got leftovers. However, I found the service unbearable: "Do you know?" you might be able to ask in a village pub, but given the prices and the ambiance of Degusto, I'd prefer not only to be addressed formally, but also in a somewhat civilized manner. A menu would have been fine, too. But well, I simply won't be coming back.

A smart, convivial restaurant with a broad menu and good service.

While atmosphere and location was nice, the food and service disappointed. Food: The focaccia we ordered was more like an unexpected mini pizza/pinsa, with lots of cheese and tomato sauce and not much focaccia “base” to speak of. The panini was clearly toasted but arrived cold on the table, not crispy at all to the point of almost being soggy due to the ingredients. Service: Towards the end, the waitress was very quick to hand us the bill which made us feel like we were rushed out.

Great all-day bar. The lunch menu was delicious, and the evenings were lively and sociable. Super friendly restaurant team, even on busy weekends.

Attended with a dirty table (the waitress only removed the glasses from the previous guests but didn’t clean the surface). We were only given one drink menu, although we were two—and we might have wanted to order food as well. We waited 10 minutes for nothing. The waitress came to the next table several times but ignored us, even though we were clearly trying to get her attention with a smile (without mentioning the time I even tried to call her verbally, but she didn’t respond). Rude service. In the end, we left. PD: we went there on the evening of Friday 19th of September.

Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive. Thank you for that. The food was good, but actually quite expensive. The ambiance is pleasant, but it was very loud, and we had to raise our voices (it was a Saturday evening). They cater to a more upscale clientele.

We stopped by during a short city tour. I really liked the chic bistro atmosphere with the opportunity to buy cheese, charcuterie, and Italian wine. The dishes are very good and visually very beautiful. I recommend it.

For a small, casual meal before the cinema. Perfect and veeery tasty.

There were 3 of us French people 🇨🇵, passing through Fribourg, a very beautiful city and at Dégusto they were very welcoming, perfect service.

The tapas platter was carelessly presented. Everything was simply thrown onto the plate. The service was a disaster. The waitress didn't know the dishes at all and couldn't recommend anything. We waited half an hour for the bill. Truly disappointing. :(

A super-chic restaurant in the heart of Freiburg. Lovely ambiance, good food, and fine drinks. The owner and his staff are very friendly and competent. And on Saturdays, they host fantastic DJ nights amidst the wine racks and cheese counters. You can also enjoy watching the hustle and bustle of the city through the large windows and in the garden. We were having breakfast at Degusto with Friends of us. Lovely atmosphere. The service was n bit slow in the beginning. But after that everything was great. The breakfast was very good and tasty. When in Freiburg again a must stop. .

Unfortunately disappointing – lack of concern for allergies & inappropriate handling of the situation My friend and I visited the wine shop to enjoy a cheese platter with two glasses of wine. Since my friend has a nut allergy, she specifically asked when ordering whether the platter or the accompanying food contained nuts. The server clearly denied this and assured us that there were no nuts. The cheese platter itself was indeed nut-free – however, there were nuts in the bread that was served with it. This was only noticed after my friend had already eaten it. I went straight to the counter, explained the situation, and emphasized that we had explicitly asked about it. The response: They "didn't even pay attention" to whether the bread contained nuts. In a delicatessen, this is not only negligent, but simply unacceptable – especially with known food allergies. Things got even more inappropriate when paying: We were informed that a glass of wine had been removed from the bill – as if they had done us a special favor. In a somewhat upscale restaurant with a high standard of quality and hospitality, it should be a given to respond accommodatingly and discreetly in such a situation – not as if this were a generous gesture. The ambiance and selection may be good, but the way they handled responsibility and etiquette was very disappointing.

A small place, perfect for a quick bite. Very good Italian cuisine.

After waiting 15 minutes, I politely asked for two drinks at the bar. I was told, somewhat snippily, that the waitress would be there immediately. Unfortunately, she didn't come for another 15 minutes, so no star for the service.

Racist and Disgraceful Service – Never Again! I visited this place alone on 24 May 2025 around 18:10. When I asked for a table for one, a female server pointed me to a section near the photo wall. Fine, no issue. But I sat there for 15 minutes, completely ignored. She passed me multiple times, never once acknowledging me. Then, a group sat down directly behind me—they didn’t look like me, and she served them immediately, drinks and all. I eventually waved to get her attention. She looked at me and just walked off. No excuse. No apology. Nothing. A male server finally approached me later, pretending not to notice I had been sitting there the whole time. Let me be clear: I am not German or European—I’m American. I own multiple businesses in Europe, including one in Germany, and I easily spend €1,500–2,000 a month dining out here. I know bad service when I see it. This wasn’t just bad service—it was blatant racism, full stop. I’m not one to throw around the race card lightly. But this? This was undeniable. I will never return to this place. And to be honest, it’s exactly this type of behavior that explains why Germany is slipping. Degusot, wake up—you don’t exist without customers. Shameful.

DEGUSTO used to be good, but has declined considerably. The service is attentive, but poorly trained. You wait in vain for a question about whether everything is okay. It's more important to have a good chat with the buddies who are always there. Today we were there for a late breakfast. While we were eating, an employee next to us started cleaning the wine rack. She was sitting right next to us, rattling the bottles. Another employee stood on a table in her street shoes to get something from a shelf. When she noticed me looking at her, she took out a yellow sponge and wiped the table with it. About 400,000 bacteria cling to the sole of a shoe, mostly fecal and intestinal bacteria. These were thoroughly spread across the table and the neighboring table and are now stuck to this yellow rag that was placed on the counter. It must have been a while since I had my hygiene and occupational safety training. That was my last visit.

Degusto in Freiburg is always worth a visit! The inviting atmosphere and friendly staff are unique! Eva and Mariuz helped us with their knowledge of the city of Freiburg, even beyond the pleasant service. (Be sure to try the appetizer plate a la casa)

We've been going to Degusto at least once a week since it opened. It used to be really nice! But unfortunately, service and quality have been declining significantly lately... And now, after only 55 minutes (!), you're asked to vacate your table for new guests. And that's even though you're only booking a table for two and have ordered both drinks and food. Of course, a business has to keep an eye on its sales and increase them wherever possible! But it's a shame when success goes to your head and your only focus is on maximizing sales...

The gentleman in service (Marius) was super nice and accommodating! Overall, it was very tasty and inviting; we'll be back!

Too bad. It was actually an enrichment for Freiburg. Unfortunately, after about 50 minutes you are asked to make room for new guests. And that’s after you’ve ordered both drinks and food. When success goes to your head (... or the owners can't get enough of it... dear Christian... ;-) ?)... As I said, it's a shame. After almost three years of weekly visits, that was it for us...

The location is just great, the pannini too. What we like less, however, is the service. The staff are friendly and of course there are a lot of tables inside and outside to be served, but the fact that you are completely ignored and no one comes to the table for 15 minutes (or enjoys a private conversation at the neighboring table without even looking over) and after you have your drinks/food you are not asked once if everything was ok and if you would like anything else is not acceptable to me. This has happened to us every time so far and I don't know if it's always like this or if we were just unlucky. Otherwise everything is good, as I said.

A brilliant place for wine and nibbles. Seidi (forgive me if the name is inaccurate) and Effa or Eva were fantastic very helpful and kind. And generally speaking was a great place to visit as my first night in Freiburg.

Basic hygiene standards are missing. While we were enjoying our spritz and about to order antipasti such as mortadella and olives, we were able to watch - luckily we were sitting right at the counter - how the antipasti plates were being prepared. We were shocked: the staff, wearing the same gloves, touched the work surfaces, the cash register terminal and the card reader several times while cutting the ham and taking out the olives. Handling food in this way does not correspond to basic hygiene standards.

I've actually felt comfortable in this restaurant so far. The service was always friendly. The kitchen now only gets 2 stars. The granola bowl has 5 almonds and 5 berries each. Today the scrambled eggs on the avocado bread were too salty, which unfortunately I only noticed when I ate 2/3 of them. I described this to the waitress and received feedback that he didn't know what to do next. Well, then I won't be coming anymore was my answer. He noted this happily. Interesting how you treat customers. It's a shame... but there are other places with good food. 🤷‍♀️

Came by spontaneously on Saturday evening and were advised by il capo at the counter and then shown to a table. Food and house wine highly recommended, but too loud to have a conversation. We'd love to come back during the day. Priced upscale.

The drinks offered in the evening when the place becomes a bar are nothing very original, they are classics that are well made. I tasted a delicious espresso martini. The atmosphere is very festive and the music is loud, if that's not your style then I don't recommend it otherwise it's pretty cool!

Chic restobar with delicious antipasti and drinks. Ambience was great, music outside was really fun. The outdoor area is beautifully sunny and centrally located in Freiburg. It was extremely busy, but the service was quick and very friendly! We'd love to come back!

Auswahl an Getränken (Apero, Bier und Wein) hervorragend. Die frisch zubereiteten Aufschnitt-Käse-Teller lecker und reichhaltig. Kleine Auswahl an warmen Speisen. Dafür qualitativ hochwertig und geschmacklich lecker. Die Produkte allgemein eher teuer dafür hochwertig/Feinkost. Serviceschichtleiterin top, der Rest des Servicepersonal angelernt nach dem Motto „gibt sich Mühe und hat manchmal Mühe“.

Ich hatte extra einen Tisch reserviert und als ich kam musste ich 10 Minuten warten, bis ich einen Tisch bekomme, da man mich vergessen hatte ! Also ein Witz, dass wir dauernd gebeten werden, die Reservierung zu bestätigen und dann ist doch kein Tisch für uns parat !

We ate the house platter - for a whopping €45. Since the few slices of baguette were far too few for two people, we ordered more - paid another €3.50. Absurdly overpriced. No dip on the plate, no salami on it. Only 2 small pieces of cheese, 3 shrimps (for 2 people...) sausage, ham + olives etc. were there. For the flagship plate of the house and what was on it - ridiculous for the price.

It opened with incredibly friendly and competent staff, but unfortunately no one is left. About my last three visits: - I wasn't served once because the four of us had to talk - Once I had to wait a very long time because the employees were busy again and then I only got a small part of what I wanted - Today the lady worked at the counter (compliment) but didn't know her goods and had even less idea of ​​hygiene rules. Wir haben die Platte des Hauses - für satte 45 € - gegessen. Da die wenigen Scheiben Baguette für 2 Personen viel zu wenig waren haben wir noch nachbestellt - nochmal 3,50 € bezahlt. Absurd überteuert. Kein Dipp auf der Platte, keine Salami drauf. Nur 2 kleine Stücke Käse, 3 Garnelen (für 2 Personen...) Wurst, Schinken + Oliven usw. waren da. Für das Aushängeschild - Platte des Hauses und dem was da drauf war - lächerlich für den Preis.

Previously I only knew Degusto as a delicatessen in Freiburg main station where you could also eat delicious snacks. During my visit to Freiburg this year, I discovered that Degusto had moved to Martinstor and now operates a so-called restobar there. The ambience is more than dignified and invites you to linger. The menu offers various small dishes and there is also a lunch menu and an evening menu. As usual, the food itself is of top quality and taste. Friendly and attentive staff round off my more than positive overall impression, so it's definitely not the last time I'll be here.

Die durchgehend hohe Lautstärke hat eine normale Unterhaltung nicht erlaubt und den hervorragenden Gesamteindruck getrübt.

Ausgesuchte Speisen, interessante Weinkarte, erfrischende Getränke und ansprechende Location in der Freiburger City. Für Stadtbesucher und Einheimische eine gute Wahl, wenn auch nicht ganz billig. Dafür stimmen jedoch Leistungen und Portionen, was gerne weiterhin so bleiben darf. Wir kommen wieder.
