Delicious bites (“Hessian tapas”) and orchard cider, absolutely warm and prompt service, on a summer evening outside on the square in a beautiful atmosphere. We felt absolutely comfortable and will definitely come back.

We went there for dinner for the first time today. Although the restaurant was completely full, we were greeted very friendly and served by Mr. Minuth in a very attentive and courteous manner. We were given tasting glasses and personal advice to help us choose the “right” cider. If we are in Frankfurt again we will definitely come back, especially since the green sauce is the best we have ever tasted. Thank you very much for the lovely evening!

Wir sind seit Jahren Stammgäste und hatten bis jetzt immer gute Erfahrungen gemacht, bis wir gestern Essen bestellt haben. 2 super kleine Schnitzel mit gefühlt 3 Bratkartoffeln für 27€ ist einfach eine Frechheit. Vor einem Jahr waren die Schnitzel noch doppelt so groß. Jetzt bekommt man nur noch zwei Chicken Nuggets. Wenn das so bleibt, waren wir das letzte Mal bei der Affentor Schänke. Sehr schade.

Not a big fan of Germany cuisine, not a fan of pork knuckle, so I didn’t expect too much, turns out this restaurant is pretty good. The famous pork knuckle was delicious, the skin was extremely crispy like suckling pig, yet the meat was quite tender, which was impressive. The Frankfurt Green sauce is like cold soup, I think it taste pretty good as a sauce, a bit weird as a dish 😂 But I guess this is their traditional dish? I love their sour herring 👍 Potatoe soup 👍 The portion is very generous, so we couldn’t finish the pork knuckle 😅 All the staffs there are very friendly🫶👍 It was a Friday and lots tourist, so all the outdoor seats were taken, indoor seats were not bad either

We recently visited this charming restaurant and had a wonderful experience. Our waitress, Julius, was exceptionally polite and provided perfect suggestions for tasting different types of ciders. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and look forward to visiting again.

We were there with our seminar group. We were able to convert our indoor reservation to the patio, which was great on a warm, humid Thursday evening. Fast, friendly and attentive staff. Food and drinks came very quickly despite our large group. I had the veal schnitzel with potatoes and green sauce. Very very tasty and reasonably priced. The terrace/beer garden is used by all pubs and is therefore quite busy and restless.

We visited to experience Frankfurt's Apfelwein, and this place had a great vibe and fantastic ciders. Our server (Julius) was wonderful—nice, warm, and welcoming. We really enjoyed our time there.

We are a group of 12 people and have been waiting for our food for 1 1/2 hours. We were also asked to free a table for guests arriving later. They have already received their food too. Everyone around has had their food for a long time, although they ordered much later.

Eight people ate there at the weekend. Afternoon. It was pretty crowded. We also had to wait a bit for our food. But drinks (beer) and various different dishes tasted very, very tasty. Plus super friendly service. We can only recommend!!!

The food was nicely prepared but not really hot/warm. The fried potatoes were also a little too salty, but not too salty. The colleague from service wasn't really communicative either but he "delivered". The prices have become a disgrace. Everything has already become more expensive, but the European Championships will probably add a little more Coke 0.4 for €5.80 Green sauce and half eggs €19.90

Traditional German food in the most cozy hunter's den ambience. The staff is very helpful and take the time to explain the menu if needed.

Wonderful classic Frankfurter Apfelwein Kneipe. One of the best ‚ Grüne Soße‘ in Frankfurt. The Apfelwein was also excellent. There are many different ones to choose from. Ill definitely be back!

The food is really tasty and highly recommended. You can notice the quality of the regional ingredients. The portions are a bit too small for my taste. The price of the dessert for three fried apple rings at 9 euros is clearly too high for what you get. The service was friendly but unfortunately very uncoordinated. We sometimes had to wait a long time for the menu, ordering and paying. Despite clear orders, we were sometimes brought other drinks and food, which were then billed incorrectly. This urgently needs to be improved.

This was easily the worst and slowest experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I was there for a birthday dinner and was seated outside. It wasn't even a busy time for the restaurant. If you enjoy going inside to get your own menu, not having your order taken, checking with your server after 45 minutes to see if your order was put in, and then waiting close to 90 minutes for your food, this is the place for you. They couldn't be bothered to check on us or get the order right. The food did not come close to making up for the wait. I left feeling angry and disappointed. Just a shame, really. Ruined the mood of an otherwise nice night.

Certainly one of, if not the, best service in Frankfurt. Valentina, Diego and Awet are attentive, friendly and very well coordinated. (Probably everyone else too, but I don't know them) Good coordination with each other, professional handling and just a nice, friendly manner. The food is excellent. Schnitzels are fried and not fried, the green sauce is not cut by hand, but is still very good. The potatoes could be fried a little less, the rest is perfect. Service, food and drink generally at a very high level. PS: I'm not going to let my food get cold for a photo. PPS: yes, the plate was really empty according to the photo.

Always beautiful. We had the Hessian appetizers and the apple rings for dessert. Everything freshly prepared, high quality ingredients, simply perfect. And the house pint is simply “legger” ;-)

We were looking for a place to eat an saw this place terrace which was almost full. Anyway we were given a table. Everything that we ordered was delicious, both food and drinks. The waiter that was serving us was nice but he forgot about us a number of times which was frustrating.

This place is fantastic! Classic German food done exactly the way you want it. We got the crispy pork knuckle that was out of this world, the classic schnitzel that was cooked to perfection paired with a summer salad that was so fresh and flavorful with amazing white asparagus that made the perfect dinner. The space is chill and super Vibey without being too loud. Service was amazing, caring and attentive by Diego and the owner. A must go when in Frankfurt!

Das Essen schmeckt jedes mal hervorragend, der Service ist äußerst nett und die Auswahl ist super. Jeder wird hier bestimmt fündig werden und satt und zufrieden nach Hause gehen. Drinnen fühlt es sich wie im Wohnzimmer an. Sobald das Wetter es zulässt kann man sehr schön draußen sitzen.

Was recommended to visit this restaurant by your guide for traditional Frankfurt meal. Was really tasty and enjoyed it. It gets really busy and even for me being solo and only 6pm-ish they were a bit unsure if they could seat me, but they could in the end. Didn't give 5 stars as I think they were a bit short staffed and had to wait a while to pay the bill. Lovely food though.

Good, solid and traditional apple wine bar in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen. Very large and diverse selection of ciders. Food is delicious, portions are very generous and the price is reasonable, so overall recommended!

I really like that they rely on regional products here. The food looked correspondingly good and tasted very tasty. There is also a great selection of ciders. I also liked the furnishings and the ambience. Definitely worth a visit.

We really liked the restaurant itself; we immediately felt at home. The waitresses are also incredibly friendly and very accommodating; they immediately respond to the guests' wishes. The food was sufficient in quantity and good in taste. There is enough choice and what you get tastes exactly as it should. If something is missing or something has been mixed up, it will be corrected immediately without hesitation. I particularly liked the apple cider, this year it's probably a little milder, for me personally it's almost perfect, I could drink it neat. The ambience corresponds exactly to a typical cider bar and is therefore exactly how I like it. It's quaint, it's cozy, the guests are also very friendly, just normal people that you see in apple wineries, I like that very much. So I can only report good experiences, I can advise everyone to stop by there, you feel comfortable, the prices are normal, you are served quickly and it tastes good, so a well-rounded thing...

Ate here as part of a business event, and was very impressed with the ambience - there appear to be real paintings on the wall, and there is a real traditional feel to the whole place. The staff are well-dressed, friendly, prompt and helpful, and though they get confused sometimes (understandable with the noise level - the restaurant isn't very large and fully enclosed) they always straighten it out before any actual mistakes can happen. I was looking forward to eating here as the restaurant prides itself on directly listing the local suppliers of its ingredients and on making everything from scratch as far as possible, and the food was indeed good - my biggest complaint is that I wish there'd been more! The Apfelwein was also delicious. I would not eat there again at the prices charged, but I did enjoy my time there and would gladly accept an invitation to go there again.

Very rustic, cozy restaurant with good, down-to-earth Hessian cuisine. Classics like Frankfurter Schnitzel with fried potatoes, knuckle with sauerkraut & mashed potatoes etc. were very tasty. Service was very attentive. There were 13 of us in total and everyone enjoyed it. Clear recommendation!

It wasn't the last time I was there! For us it was a great evening with good food and drink and a very nice atmosphere. Particularly worthy of mention is the friendly waitress, who had to serve alone on Saturday evening, and despite all the hectic and stressful times, she had a kind word and a smile for every guest. Really not many people can do that.

One of the local places where you not only get delicious regional food, but also enjoy it in a good ambience and design. I visit the restaurant regularly and service is always great, the food is delicious and you always want to come back, especially when it comes to green sauce. Recommended for Frankfurt residents and visitors to the city.

Very courteous and friendly staff. Oleg and Valentina in particular were very pleasant hosts. The food is excellent and the location leaves nothing to be desired. A restaurant I can highly recommend for any occasion. As far as I could tell, all the waiters were very concerned about the common good. Diego, who was not responsible for our table, was also extremely friendly to our group. Again any time!!

The food wasn't bad, although we immediately suspected that the schnitzel wasn't freshly fried (very greasy). Service was nice, but not courteous. You had to wait forever until you could order more drinks or until the empty plates were cleared from the table.

Nice atmosphere, service tried hard but sometimes snippy when stressed. Food not good. Unseasoned and bland, a steak was brought to the table 3 times and every time we asked if it was furch, they weren't sure again. Even though we informed us in advance when ordering.

What you would expect from a classic German casual restaurant. The food is alright but it took two hours to get the food. We were a big group ~40 and it seems that the crew couldn't handle a full venue. They are friendly. Impressive, though that the food came out all at once and at a good temperature. The mash potatoes and sasuge appetizer is fine and so is the schnitzel. What's delicious is the chocolate mousse!

Wonderful venue, great selection of specialty Apfelweine, good service, all my guests were happy with their meals except me and the only other guest who ordered Handkäs mit Musik.... What was wrong with the Handkäs mit Musik? Well, starting with the positives: the bread was sensational; and the marinade was quite good. However, the heart of the meal - the Handkäs - was terrible! Not because of the quality of the product itself, but because it was not prepared properly. It was like cutting and eating a block of soap. It was hard, cold and tasteless. Why? Because it had not been allowed to acclimate properly. If a restaurant professes to be famous for Frankfurter cuisine, then at least they need to be able to get Handkäs right!!!! The Handkäs needs to be at room temperature for some hours before serving! It needs to be served soft and with a pleasantly strong aroma and taste. Most Frankfurter restaurants in old Sachsenhausen manage to get it somewhere between good and excellent, but our Handkäs was very poor, and unenjoyable. Otherwisethe atmosphere, service, and everything else was excellent.
