China Restaurant CQ Flavour in Stuttgart

We were overcharged. We ordered one starter and three main dishes( two vegetarian one, and one meat dish) two drinks. And the bill was 87.5 euros. We paid 90. Then later we realized that the bill was incorrect. They have overcharged one dish equivalent to 16 euros. We also didn’t receive a breakdown of the dishes we ordered.

Two years ago, I visited this restaurant for a friend's birthday and was impressed by everything. So, when I passed by Stu this time, I decided to dine there without hesitation. However, the experience was a complete disappointment. I have to commend the service of a young Chinese man and the German bartender. They were incredibly attentive in every way, and I give them two out of three stars. The attitude of the two waitresses was indescribable. Since my parents don't drink and didn't want tea, they didn't order drinks, but the other four of us each ordered drinks. They then received perfunctory service and glances from the two waitresses. I tipped as usual, and didn't even get a goodbye when I left. Back to the food: We ordered six dishes and a dessert. Only the large boiled dried bean curd and the brown sugar rice cake were satisfactory. The salt and pepper spare ribs were fried to a crisp, the corn and shrimp had only a few small shrimp, the beef brisket in the vermicelli dish was dry and tough, the garlic water spinach portion was surprisingly small, and I had never tasted Maoxuewang without tripe. From beginning to end, no one asked how the dishes tasted. Sowieso probably won't come back next time.

It was average. The dishes were served slowly and tasted bland. The crispy pig intestines were not crispy at all, but were covered in paste. The same thing happened with the sweet and sour pork tenderloin. There was too much paste and it was a bit overcooked. It was really average. I ate outside at night and there was no light. I had to use my phone's flashlight to light the food. If I were to say a good place, Wanglaoji is pretty good.

The food tastes good and the service is also good

I ordered sweet and sour pork tenderloin, but it was fried and burnt, neither sour nor sweet. I ordered Zhuge grilled fish, but it wasn't salty enough. I asked the waiter to add salt myself. I ordered large intestine, but I tasted lard. The five of us only needed a small table. Why? Because the five dishes took an hour to be served, one at a time. As soon as we finished one dish, we had the next. 1 is the lowest I can give it.

An insider tip for lovers of authentic Szechuan cuisine! The first impression from the outside, directly from the parking lot, is deceptive. Understatement prevails here, and the decor and ambiance are comparable to many Chinese restaurants in the region. However, a quick glance at the menu reveals that this is the right place. The selection is surprisingly large, and the prices are more than reasonable for the service offered. The food arrives quickly and tastes excellent and fresh.

I’m giving this Chinese restaurant a full 5-star rating. The food is excellent across the board, with rich flavors, fresh ingredients, and a good variety of dishes that are well portioned. Everything I ordered was served warm and served with care. The atmosphere adds to the experience. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and gives off a calm and comfortable vibe. It’s a great place to sit down and enjoy a meal, whether you’re with your family or eating solo. On top of that, the service was fast, friendly, and professional from start to finish. There is really nothing major to complain about here. Strong quality, great staff, and a pleasant environment make this one of the best spots I’ve been to. Definitely worth a visit!

Authentic Chongqing food, very tasty. The chili fish, the sweet sticky rice with syrup, and, best of all, the chili chicken (lazi ji) are particularly good 😍 In my opinion, it's definitely the best restaurant in the Stuttgart area 🙋

Best (authentic) Chinese food in Stuttgart CQ flavor is the only restaurant I go, as they go 1000% authentic: the spices, the taste There are of course German menu, but especially like the spicy beef soup, crispy pork/chicken with sichuan pepper, and sour fish soup Can’t complain about the price vs quantity, just amazing. In the review people are complaining about service. I once witness a customer which was just pure demanding (die Grenze zwischen Förderung und Unverschämtheit kennen viele „Kunde“ halt nicht). The food was stir-fried, not hot pot. Yangzhou fried rice, tasteless, very bland. Carrot and meat dumplings, the menu said they would come with salad cucumber, but they didn't. I realized this the night after I left, so I had to give up. Stir-fried large intestine (or crispy large intestine or something), fried, tasteless. Saladed pig ears, this was not bad, very fragrant. Salt and pepper pork tenderloin, fried very dry, you can say it's fragrant, but the salt and pepper flavor is not enough, just a little taste. In summary of the food, the taste is not good. Service, the auntie's service is rather cold, no smile; the guy is okay. It's the type that I won't go again or recommend to others. It's not too bad, but there's no reason to go again.

We had dinner at CQ Flavour and it was absolutely unbelievable! At first glance, this spot looked like a place one would find in any German town. The restaurant's atmosphere was outdated. The staff were dressed very casually, not even in uniforms. Until we saw the menu, we didn't expect much from the food here. But we were wrong. Here you can eat authentic Chongqing cuisine. Sichuan food is renowned for its spicy dishes, particularly due to the use of chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns. It was still very spicy and also delicious. The portions are sizable and you’ll leave very full. Everything is so flavorful and balanced. Our servers were fantastic — attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They tried to fully meet our requests. Great restaurant for everyone wanting to eat authentic and high-quality Chinese food. Highly recommend! We’ll definitely come again.

We've been there several times, usually during the week for lunch. It's perfectly fine! The price is also reasonable. Now, my daughter and I spontaneously went to the restaurant on Sunday lunchtime. Since they don't serve lunch on Sundays, we ordered from the regular menu, and I have to say: What was served was outrageous! I had the prawns with sweetcorn – it turned out to be a can of cheap sweetcorn, emptied onto a plate, with 8! small! prawns inside, no sauce, nothing! My daughter ordered the daily special, vegetables with tofu strips. The vegetables turned out to be a pack of sprouts with two snow peas and a few thin strips of bad tofu – again, no sauce. I find 17 euros each for that more than cheeky! We certainly won't be going back anytime soon. This restaurant thrives on its Chinese guests, but not everyone likes pig ears, and the seniors from the neighboring nursing home… what a shame!

Favorite of family and friends, not the typical Asian flair, authentic spicy numbing (like the spicy deep fried chicken), lots of dishes served with hot chilly oil and non spicy stir fried dishes as well, delicious!

Absolute insider tip when it comes to Chinese, especially Sichuan, cuisine in Stuttgart. Large authentic selection of food in a "Sichuan menu" but also for those who are not so keen to experiment in a "Germanized menu". Generally very generous portions. ! Sichuan cuisine is mostly very spicy, but this is stated and the staff sometimes point this out again.

One of the few Chinese restaurants that mainly focuses on traditional cuisine. There are also a few Euro-Chinese dishes for “beginners”. The best thing to do - as is common in Asia - is to order a stack of dishes for the table.

It is an absolute humiliation to “Chinese food” and our culture. Any Chinese coming from CQ (Chongqing) area would definitely feel offended. The place is totally not up to the “fame” it has I am pretty sure if the cooks spend more real efforts in understanding Chinese food and how to cook it, the experience would be much better. Instead, the poor taste of so poorly handled materials mixed with packed ingredients from GoAsia supermarket. This is definitely not the right cooking and definitely only focusing on making quick money from customers who don’t know China but wanting to experience the food culture And please don’t argue with me that the “real CQ flavor” would not work for European taste. There is always a way to cook. I’m talking about the minimum level of willingness to put in some thought and effort to serve the customers with the right attitude as a restaurant focusing on “flavor” One positive: good decoration with rolling tables and Paifang in front of the restaurant To summarize, I could cook much better with the standard packed ingredients from GoAsia while my European friends would enjoy Please call the restaurant “China decoration” but certainly never “Flavor”

Great food. I can't say whether it's authentically Chinese. I can say that it was really tasty. The service is great and the advice and recommendations were helpful. Also noticeable: it was pleasantly quiet.

We have been to CQ Flavor off and on for many years. During my visit yesterday, however, I noticed that the prices had risen considerably, while the portions had become significantly smaller. The CQ Flavor is still good, but has become significantly more expensive overall

At CQ you can try authentic Chinese dishes or classic German dishes. The Chinese dishes are very well done and there is a lot to choose from. That's why you can go there again and again and try something new. We go there regularly and can only recommend it.

The restaurant impresses with its charming ambience made of wood, Chinese details and works of art - the entrance through a traditional gate is particularly eye-catching. The reservation went smoothly, and since it was our first visit, we decided to try dishes from the local Szechuan cuisine - after all, we already know the “Germanized” classics ;) From starters to dessert, the dishes were a pleasant surprise, full of new flavors and successful seasoning. The staff was attentive and friendly, which rounded off the evening perfectly. We'd love to come back to discover more dishes!

Zuletzt im Sommer waren wir sehr zufrieden. Das können wir heute im Dezember 2024 nicht bestätigen. Wir waren gemeinsam hier, meine Gattin und ich. Ihr Essen kam sehr viel früher. Es war schon deutlich kalt ehe wir gemeinsam essen konnten. Ihre Ente war gut wie immer, mein Schweinefleisch eher langweilig.

Mediocre food, poor service and way too expensive

Half an hour after ordering, drinks were served at our request, and nearly half an hour later, not a single dish was served. I called a tall, thin, black waitress/proprietress to order the food, and waved her hand to tell us not to talk. The table next to a purely Chinese table also didn’t serve food for an hour. The Germans at the back table came later than us, and the food was served very quickly, and they had already finished eating before we were served. There were a lot of people in the store at first, so it was understandable that the food was served slowly. We sat there until there was no one else in the store, but still no food was served. But after a group of us ran to the front desk to ask for the dishes, all the dishes were served within ten minutes. Unbelievable. The twice-cooked pork was not fried well. It was obvious that the oil in the meat was not stir-fried, making it greasy. There was very little water spinach, and it was all gone with only one chopstick for three people. The pickled fish is not delicious, it looks like frozen marinated fish, and it feels like too much water-retaining agent has been added. The stir-fried cabbage was a failure. It didn't taste good, the hot and sour flavor didn't come out, and it had a raw taste. Recommend the cold dishes of saliva chicken and beef. The red oil seasoning is okay and the stir-fry seasoning is average.

Honestly the best Chinese restaurant in town!

It tastes pretty good, but there is a tall guy with glasses and short hair who is really annoying. He walked in and said he had to wait for a table. I said OK, I can wait, but he said he didn’t know how long the wait would be, and the food would be served very slowly. We’ve been going here since 2017 and it never disappoints. Menu highlights: C51 (sichuan mala chicken), C204 (chicken thighs in chili oil sauce), C308 (double-fried pork belly). After trying similar dishes at other sichuan restaurants in other big cities in Germany, CQ is by far still the best one. Taste: 10/10 Authenticity: 9.5/10 Service: 9.5/10 Consistency: 9/10

For my personal taste, by far the best Chinese restaurant or Chinese cuisine outside of CN that I know of. Not a “classic” “AsiaStar sweet and sour”, but extremely delicious dishes and dishes with great originality and authenticity.

We went again today to celebrate my Chinese wife's birthday and the new Lunar year. The food was as always, amazing! Great efficient and friendly service! We had the Mutton, Tofu, sweat and sour pork and the spicy beef.

Generous portions, with familiar and unfamiliar food. There were three of us. I drank the Chinese beer and had to swap meals with a friend because a dish for 2 contained ex-sea creatures. That wasn't quite so clear before. Stupid if you have a fish allergy. Nevertheless, it was very tasty. If you come by car, you should not park at the front of the pharmacy; there are parking spaces in the courtyard in the direction of long-term parking. Together we paid 105 euros, which is completely okay. We were even asked if we would like to have a catering mountain. This also happens rather rarely. The service is very friendly, but communication in English isn't always easy. But you can talk to some of them in German. Everything was great.

Had beef with radish (beef was tough), veg with mushroom (good) n steamed fish (texture of meat was weird). Kids bowl and cutlery were brought out without my asking. 50 cents is charged for a takeaway container which they mentioned upfront.

Ordered food to pick up here for the first time today. At first I was a bit shocked by the prices (red curry with chicken €16.90), but on the one hand, gastronomy has become expensive everywhere, and on the other hand, it was a really huge and very, very tasty portion! Good ratio of vegetables, meat and sauce. I can only recommend it and would be happy to come back to eat there, as the restaurant is very nicely decorated and seems to be very popular.

Very nice place with pretty authentic cuisines from Sichuan/Chongqing area. Do make a call in advance during busy hours to reserve a spot though since it can be quite packed.

It's always full during the meal time and Exhibition period. Be prepare to queue. Food are authentic Chinese, so does the atmosphere feel like.

I really liked all the dishes and cannot decided my favorite, but I especially liked: - Glass noodles in chili oil - Pak Choi with Shiitake mushrooms - Crunchy chicken in sweet chili sauce - Nuts and meat - Sour fish soup - Sichuan chili soup with lamm - Fish with tofu with oil - Sichuan chili taste frogs

Typisch chinesisches Ambiente, original Sichuan Küche, leckeres Essen, große Portionen. Sonntags im 13 Uhr waren fast alle Plätze belegt, mindestens 75 % bevor waren Asiaten.

Brillant and very authentic chinese cuisine.

The food was incredibly delicious, probably the best chili oil dish I had in Germany. The service on the other hand was incredibly slow, inconsiderate and the air was so bad in the restaurant we were busy trying to eat and get out.

Authentisches Szechuan Menü inklusive eingedeutschtes Essen, also für alle was dabei. Das Essen schmeckt sehr gut. Das Essen kam schnell. Absolut empfehlenswert. Unser Favorit wenn wir wieder in Stuttgart sind.

A family group of 4 of us went here Sunday lunchtime and we're very impressed with the food flavours and portions. I particularly liked an aubergine dish that had a small amount of minced meat in too in a delicious sauce- the aubergine was cooked so well- silky smooth - I would love to know how they cooked it. Hubby had Kong Po chicken and thought it was very good. Thoroughly recommend.

Ein sehr sehr traditionelles chinesisches Restaurant. Viele der Gewürze haben mir als Europäer leider nicht so geschmeckt. Man muss vorher wissen auf was man sich einlässt. Es gibt aber auch viele Speisen, die wir Europäer gewohnt sind. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich.

Wirklich original chinesisches Essen. Ein Kapitel der Karte: eingedeutschtes Essen, hier gibt es die knusprige Ente. Der Rest der Karte spricht von Schweinebauch, geschmortem Rindfleisch mit Spitzkohl, usw.... Sehr lecker, überwiegend chinesische Gäste, spricht für sich. Wenn auf der Karte 'scharf' steht, ist dies wörtlich zu nehmen. Trotzdem sehr lecker, und bestimmt kein Glutamat im Spiel. Sehr gerne wieder!
