Had a few lovely drinks here. Staff very friendly and helpful. Poured the best-value rum and ginger in town.

Great pub with a good vibe, mainly due to the friendly, helpful staff. But the drinks were also good.

The Rösti BBQ Burger was absolutely incredible. 11/10. Honestly, one of the best burgers I've ever had, if not the best. I highly recommend it!

The first thing that catches your eye are the A5-sized, laminated cards, with a simple design in keeping with the overall style of the store. The prices you see there are questionable. Not too expensive, but also a bit arbitrary, you can, for example, buy a so-called "Joster" for two euros, while other comparable shots can be purchased for a much lower price than in other locations. I strongly advise against ordering the so-called "Pink P***," as it will only lead to bitter disappointment. Much to my chagrin, the so-called "Pink P***" has only outdone itself in its poor taste with its even more artificial coloring. In summary, this is a location that clearly ranks mid-range among comparable establishments.

The waiter was extremely unfriendly and gave us a hard time for 5 minutes for no reason because we had a voucher and only showed it when we paid...never again!

Tucked away in the heart of Freiburg, this bar is a real gem. It has a cosy, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, with friendly staff who go out of their way to make the experience enjoyable. The food and drinks are excellent, and the prices are very reasonable for the city centre. You have to like the atmosphere, a pub atmosphere with a student clientele. Fair prices for food and drinks, large portions, and a wide selection.

The food: vegan burger and fries were incredibly delicious 😋 The service was very friendly and attentive. 👍 It took almost 45 minutes for the food to arrive (okay, there was a large group ahead of us), but it would have been good to know this before ordering, as we were very hungry 🙄 Still, I'm giving it 4 stars because it was so delicious and friendly 🙂

My local bar for many years. Good drinks, good food at fair prices, and always very friendly service. The ambiance is also nice, with a pub feel, complete with squirrel wallpaper and Blues Brothers on the wall :) Especially in the evenings (especially on weekends), it might be worth making a reservation in advance.

This is our first time in Freiburg and we were looking for something out of the ordinary, and we found it. If you're looking for something fancy, you've definitely come to the wrong place. I was in the Cheers ambience for the first time today and I really liked it. Great value for money. Large portions. I ordered cordon bleu with cream sauce, croquettes and salad today. The food tasted great and everything was made fresh. I would love to come back

Pub atmosphere, nice service. Prices would be ok but I can't understand the many good reviews. The salad was ok, the yogurt dressing was finished and bland. Schnitzel ok, but I've had better. Fries very salty. The burgers are small and apparently made from meatballs mixed with flour or something, very floury taste and like they are boiled instead of fried. We tried it but we won't be back.

We made a reservation for the evening of December 31st by telephone. Arriving there, the reservation had been noted for the evening of January 1st (very practical for a group of 11 people on New Year's Eve). We kept our reservation from January 1 and called that same afternoon to confirm our reservation. No response, so we left a Combox, knowing we hadn't canceled our reservation. On the evening of January 1st, we arrived there and the restaurant was closed. So no, to be avoided due to very poor organization. Luckily we were able to find a place elsewhere for both evenings. If it were up to me, I wouldn't give any stars since we weren't able to set foot there once.

Terrible organization, I would never reserve a table there in advance: we have 11 people for New Year's Eve on December 31st. reserved and they have our reservation for January 1st. recorded; we saw it in their agenda. We still kept the reservation and confirmed it the next day by phone (combox because no one was there). Result: The restaurant was closed and no one had informed us. Disappointing and disrespectful.

Somewhat hidden bar next to the big shopping street (KaJo) in Freiburg. It’s your average bar with a really nice atmosphere. The food is okay, prices for food and drinks are good.

Nice student bar in a nice atmosphere. The kitchen is OK, but lags behind that of many old inns. The portions are really big and you'll feel full when you eat. There are 2 types of beer on tap as well as some bottled beers. If you're not looking for anything fancy, you're in good hands here for a reasonable meal and delicious beer in a nice atmosphere.

Went here for dinner today and had two wonderful burgers - finally burgers that aren't swimming with sauce and fries that are crispy but not too greasy! The vegan patty was also great :-) 5/5 stars for food + great service. Price/performance appropriate in my opinion. We will come back.

Super nice service, who even asked if the fries for our child should be without salt. This isn't exactly a children's restaurant, which makes it all the nicer to meet such nice people. The burgers with fries weren't enough to overeat, but we were full and it tasted delicious. You sit outside okay - somewhat wobbly chairs and in a side alley. But not so crowded and much more relaxed than in the more crowded places.

One of my favorites in Freiburg! Heartfelt as well as unique atmosphere and character. Suitable for all occasions, be it just a beer with friends, lunch or dinner. The menu and drinks offer countless options and regularly include good vegan food.

Small, casual student bar with a cheap menu. The dishes are large and filling. Of course, the ambience is debatable. The toilets definitely don't get a star, they should have one. My burger tasted very tasty but could have been a little bigger. All in all it was ok for me, but since the bar has been around in this form for many years, everything has its place.

We discovered Cheers as part of a walking food tour (Hungry Birds- highly recommend it). Tom, the proprietor, was a wonderful host. We had beer and a local dish with wurst salad, potatoes and sour cream (Badischen something. Sorry - forgot the name). Food was delicious. We had so much fun we went back the next night to enjoy the atmosphere and watch Germany play in the Euros. Tom squeezed us in and was a gracious host. Seems to be a fun bar for students with good food and beer. Would go back.

I've been going to Cheers for many years and always feel really comfortable there. I probably never thought of writing a nice review for this great store before. The people, the ambience, the location, the reasonable prices, the good food and of course the drinks, everything was great! In addition, a changing weekly menu with interesting new dishes, pasta all-you-can-eat every Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the well-known student schnitzel and also several special (themed) evenings or simply sports or football broadcasts. I will definitely be a regular customer for many more years 😁

Ordered a Schnitzel, and a beer. The salad that came with it was huge, and the schnitzel came with a huge mound of fries and gravy. Very value for money. Schnitzel was tender, juicy and crispy. Waitress took the time to explain the different beers they offered, and was very helpful. Would come back again!

It's an incredibly cozy little bar where you can find great food for very, very reasonable prices. The menu is very extensive and the portions are very large. So there's definitely something for every taste here, whether it's salads, schnitzels, burgers, pommers or pasta, there's a bit of everything. The service came frequently and was very attentive, and the drinks were also very reasonably priced. All in all, a top insider tip for Freiburg! Treat yourself!

Maybe OK as a “restaurant”, but as a bar we won’t be coming here as a group anymore. The waitress, apart from the young blonde gentleman, was unfriendly from the start and avoided us as much as possible with disparaging looks. A pity.

Delicious food, top staff and beautiful location

My partner and I took a day trip to Freiburg between our stays in Munich and Strasbourg and we found this hidden gem as we were walking around after lunch. We popped in being originally from Boston and had a couple of beers and chatted with the bartender, who we found out eventually was the owner. He was a great person to chat with about Freiburg and the culture there and was extremely patient with us as we didn’t speak any German. It was really kind of him to take the time to chat with us. Bester Laden! Wir kommen seit unseren Studi-Zeiten regelmäßig - und vor allem immer wieder gerne! Ein Highlight sind die Mediterranen Pommes - und natürlich das Riegeler Landbier in den legendären Tonkrügen (auch wenn es leider ja nur einen einzigen kleinen davon gibt). Das Essen hat bisher generell immer fantastisch geschmeckt und uns auch gut satt gemacht :). Und nett sind hier alle sowieso! Auf viele weitere Jahre 🍻!

A hidden gem in Freiburg. It has delicious schnitzels, flavourful pasta's and the best tasting freshly made Knöpfle. The chocolate cake as a dessert is also perfect. The service is quick, correct and friendly. The location is a quiet side street of the main street, ideal to have a relaxed meal outside.
