Super nice and ultra-friendly service, cook and boss (I think) You can meet there for a beer. Or two. Or mulled wine. Mulled wine! You have to try it! I take off my top hat!

We got there as they were closing and the owner allowed us to get a beer and a shot each. Nice conversation with locals despite the language barriers

We have been enjoying being guests here for some time now. Susanne, who runs the restaurant, is very nice and the glasses are not empty. The food is always freshly prepared and tastes fantastic. You can sit comfortably inside and outside and come into contact with the people of Grainau. We can only recommend this great restaurant.

Discovered by chance on the way to the Eibsee bus. A very kind and warm hostess! I was alone in Grainau for a few days and felt very welcome ☀️ I wish you all the best and will definitely come back to Grainau and to your restaurant 🍀

I wanted to eat there. But what I wanted to eat wasn't there. The menu is already very small, so it shouldn't be a problem to serve a few fries with chicken nuggets. She offered me a currywurst with fries for 14 euros. I didn't want that because it was too much for a snack dish. She then took the drink that had already been served to me from the table and banned me from the restaurant. I have never experienced such an unfriendly landlady in my life. If I could give zero stars, I would. Unfortunately, that won't be of much use, because the tourist town of Grainau will attract enough guests there.

Sooo freshly prepared food with love...best quality!!! Rarely eaten so well, tasty and plentiful. (Goulash with home-made spaetzle, cream schnitzel with chanterelles and a dreamy side salad...) Thank you also, dear Susanne, for the heater and the delicious mulled wine in the September cold 😚

Homemade cuisine is available here at reasonable prices. Tastes like grandma's! If I had more stars, I would give them. Reservation recommended!

I sat outside, which was nice. The Kaiserschmarrn wasn't that great. Very greasy, black and unfortunately too much granulated sugar on it. I would order more savory next time

Inconspicuous restaurant in Grainau that offers culinary classics. The Chapeau Claque in the Baumgartner Passage impresses with dishes of incredibly good quality, and based on our own experience, the Tyrolean Cordon Bleu and the spinach dumplings are particularly recommended. Not a classic salad side dish, but a sweet version that is similar to a dessert: fresh leaf salad with strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberry sauce. The service was extremely nice, you could even hear the chef tapping the schnitzel. Fresh and good preparation of the food is therefore guaranteed. All in all, very good quality at a more than fair price.

We recommend!!! It's always true that it's better to have something small, cozy, honest/warm and tasty than a' la card and so on. Shortly after arriving we actually just came to wait for a drink and then spontaneously had lunch. The “Tyrolean” cordon bleu was really great! Went there several times during our vacation and were always warmly greeted/welcomed, whether in the morning or evening. We'll definitely be back!

Hello, unfortunately you can only give 5 stars, I would give 5 more. Very tasty food lovingly prepared. Service was very good and the boss was super nice. All dishes are under 20 euros and are fresh and damn tasty. We always enjoy coming back. Kind regards, Ramona.

Unfortunately very unfriendly landlady. The two of us were there in February. There was a carnival parade in town. We were there from morning to evening, unfortunately when we asked we didn't receive any food in the evening, the landlady said the kitchen would be closed today and that we should go eat somewhere else (and that after drinking and partying there all day, so to speak she practically said from 9 p.m. that we should leave now and literally kicked the guests out.

I would prefer not to give any stars at all. We spent the whole day there drinking and watching the carnival parade. When we were hungry in the evening we were told to go eat somewhere else. We did that and got two pizzas from the pizzeria nearby. Apparently the landlady was also hungry and went to another restaurant and asked us if she could have a piece of the pizza. She then gave our pizza to other people… She then became cheeky and insulting! We've really never experienced anything like this before. You can't beat it for audacity.

Meine Frau und ich waren im heutigen Regen spontan ein paar Kilometer spazieren. Wir gingen spontan ins Restaurant und bereuten keine Sekunde. Wir wurden äußerst gastfreundlich zum Tresen gebracht, da wir nur etwas trinken wollten. Wir haben dort sehr bequem gesessen und konnten sogar beobachten wie recht unhöflich Gäste konstruktiv und besonnen behandelt wurden, obwohl diese sich nicht an die Hausregeln hielten und ewig diskutierten. Abgesehen davon, fühlten wir uns so wohl, dass wir sogar viel später als geplant das Restaurant verließen (spontan incl. 3 hausgemachten Abendessen to go) Beide Personen vor Ort (inclusive einem perfektem Abendessen, waren den Schlechwetterspaziergang wert) Danke

My wife and I spontaneously went for a few kilometers for a walk in today's rain. We spontaneously went to the restaurant and didn't regret a second. We were very hospitably shown to the counter as we just wanted a drink. We sat there very comfortably and were even able to observe how rude guests were treated constructively and prudently, even though they didn't follow the house rules and argued for ages. Apart from that, we felt so comfortable that we even left the restaurant much later than planned (spontaneously including 3 homemade dinners to go) Both people on site (including a perfect dinner, were worth the bad weather walk) Thanks

Unfortunately, the sign outside that says hot food is available from 11:30 is not true. But you are only told when you want to order. Service is terrible, never experienced anything like it: Rude, insulting, never again!

Wir sind während eines Urlaubs in Grainau mehrfach hier gewesen und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir haben dort nur ein paar Getränke zu uns genommen und wurden sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend behandelt. Auch zu unserem Hund war die Besitzerin ausgesprochen freundlich. Die Speisen, die wir an den anderen Tischen sahen, machten optisch einen guten Eindruck und die Gäste machten einen sehr zufriedenen Eindruck. Wir werden sicher wieder dorthin gehen.

It's something of an insider tip. The food surprised us so positively. It's super tasty and beautifully prepared. If you are in Grainau, you should stop by here and let yourself be convinced. We'll definitely be back.

The early closing of the kitchen is not guest-friendly for those arriving.

Wonderful cosy place, very good food and splendid service.

There were five of us there, the food was excellent! We really enjoyed the schnitzel with champion cream sauce, the beef goulash, the cheese spaetzle, the Tyrolean cordonbleau and the currywurst with fries. Apart from the food, we were entertained excellently and served quickly by the landlady 'Susa'. Very good! Any time!

We love this “bar”. The food is fresh and tasty, the team is very nice and friendly. We feel very comfortable there and always enjoy coming here.*update January 30th, 2024* and we ended up at Chapeau Claque again, very tasty food, friendly and very attentive team. The garlic soup and beef goulash are highly recommended. The Augustier beer is freshly tapped and wonderfully cool, see you soon!!

I had the pleasure of spending a few evenings in this bistro with my girlfriend and it was just unbelievably good! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the landlady, Susa, contributed significantly to this. Her warm nature and attentive nature made us feel comfortable from the first moment. The food was delicious and prepared with love. The choice of food was varied and every bite was a delight. What really makes this place special is the personal touch. Susa took the time to chat with the guests and create a family atmosphere. It felt like you were visiting friends. If you are looking for a place that not only offers excellent food and drinks, but also warm hospitality, then you have come to the right place. I can't wait to come back!

We love dining here with friends or just our family together. It is truly local food and always great ! We have been coming here for years when we vacation in the Garmisch area.

Che lo Chapeau Claque sia un luogo in voga lo si nota dai numerosi "prenotato" appoggiati sui tavoli per la cena imminente... Resta un locale con aria vagamente Francese, ma con solide radici Tedesche vista anche la frequentazione indigena, molto corposa, e le birre proposte nella scia della tradizione. Non possiamo giudicarlo da una bevuta, ma ci si ripropone la visita considerando infine tutte le proposte della proprietà. Gestione professionale forse un poco distaccata...sarà la lingua, forse il continuo ricambio di avventori che si propongono a tutti i livelli sociali, non so. Beneficio del dubbio e nuova probabile avventura tra i traballanti tavoli e l'indubbia qualità del sito.

Lustig offene Atmosphäre. Das Tiroler Cordon Bleu war der Hammer. Schock-verliebt.... Wir mussten direkt nochmal hin obwohl wir nur ein paar Tage in der Gegend waren.

Lecker, freundlich, sehr Familiär. Sehr zu empfehlen. Hatten dort eine super Zeit.

Mega süße Bedienung, Getränke sind super vor allem Lillet kommt in einem sehr großen Glas und schmeckt seeehr lecker. Zum Essen hatten wir Spinatknödel (unfassbar gut) und Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln. Waren auch schon zwei mal da und kommen gerne wieder:))

In kleines Restaurant mit gemütlichen Biergarten im Ortskern von Grainau. Das Essen wurde frisch zubereitet und war super lecker. Ein dickes Lob an die Küche haben weiter gegeben. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder, wenn es uns Brandenburger mal wieder in diese Ecke von Deutschland verschlägt 👍

Das Essen war gut und frisch, aber die Bedienung leider ein Fall für sich… Wir bekamen eine ziemlich unfreundlich Antwort nachdem ich einen Extrawunsch äußerte.

Nettes kleines Restaurant mit sehr gemütlichem Ambiente. Die Chefin kümmert sich persönlich um die Gäste und nimmt sich auch die Zeit für ein kurzes Gespräch.

Leckeres hausgemachtes Essen, Getränke 1a, Inhaberin führt den Laden mit Herz und Direktheit. Wir waren in einer Woche dreimal da, weil wir uns so wohlgefühlt haben. Danke für die wunderbaren Stunden, Susanne! Wir kommen wieder! Das macht Wohlfühlen aus!

Essen war gut, allerdings muss man mit der Art der Chefin, die auch bedient, klar kommen. Für uns war ihr Verhalten einfach nur frech! Nur Bargeld!

Wir waren im Urlaub in Grainau. Die Gastgeberin ist einfach wundervoll! Bester Lillet den ich getrunken habe und endlich ein Schnitzel mit Preiselbeere, mit super viel liebe. Man fühlt sich dort einfach wohl! Leider reisten wir schon ab, als die apres Ski Party war, wären gern bei gewesen. Bei der Frau kann es nur Hammer gewesen sein! Liebe Grüße und weiter so!

Weil es uns beim ersten mal so gut gefallen hat, sind wir wieder gekommen, leider war an dem Tag dann um 19 Uhr die Küche schon geschlossen. Wenn man aber was zu essen bekommt ist es sehr lecker. Kleine Auswahl aber mit Liebe selbst gekocht. Die Besitzer sind sehr freundlich und man sitzt draußen gemütlich. Die Damentoilette ist nur für schlanke Menschen 😁

This small, quiet, tucked-away cafe doesn’t have a big menu, but the food we had was very good. The “Tirol cordon bleu” was as nice twist on a well known standard, and the reasonably priced gulasch soup came in a really big bowl that was enough for a meal. Decent service, too.

Ein wunderbares kleines Bistro, der Gastgarten hat Atmosphäre, hier lässt man sich gern bewirten.

Essen wie bei Mutti das sehr liebevoll zubereitet, angerichtet und serviert wurde. Von der Inhaberin/Köchin bis zur Bedienung waren alle super nett und auf Zack. Haben nicht lange warten müssen auf Getränke und Essen. Falls man noch Platz im Bauch hat sollte man unbedingt den Mohnkuchen probieren. Von uns eine klare Weiterempfehlung. Wir kommen wieder.

Loved this place! Accidentally found it when other places were closed. Chose garlic bread and smoked salmon for two people. The portions are really big so being two women we even had to ask wrap up half of the bread because we couldn’t eat more. The food was really delicious! And the sauce they offer for salad.... yummie! Only down place is that kitchen can be closed anytime. We went there at around 15:00 but after about half an hour a family came in but the hostess said kitchen is closed and only drinks and some desserts are available. We kind of were lucky to come inside on time but felt bad for the family. Overall we had a really good time and the atmosphere is soooo warm and you feel so welcome!

So Yes, the lady in charge is friendly. Cozy atmosphere, check. Food? Nicht so gut, I’m afraid. It’s basic pub food at best, with unfortunately very slow service, at least in our case. Pasta dishes for our 3 children took 1hr 30 to arrive, and came 30 minutes after our dishes. All dishes were waaay to salty. Cash only. Nice place for a beer. 3* is for the food.

We discovered this bistro while walking around Grainau where we were staying a fews days. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, feeling very much a local place. The woman who we dealt with on our three visits was very helpful and friendly. She recognised us after the first visit and made us feel very welcome. The food menu is realistically short, but very good, very German. Fantastic salads too. Proportions are large. Food is freshly prepared and looks/tastes it. While we didn't have drinks there, it looks like a comfortable place to imbibe. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. You might want to make reservations for dinner. We were regretfully but understandably, turned away one night. It is a small place, with a limited number of tables. Prices are very reasonable. Ask for English language menu if needed. It helped us out the second time around.
