The spinach dumplings were very tasty and the small salad had a raspberry dressing, which was also really great.

The woman is a real character. Home-style cooking and power! The schnitzel is whipped by hand. Fantastic. Super tasty.

Excellent pizza! We sat outside on the terrace; the chairs are designed for comfortable seating, but that's the case throughout Germany. Friendly owner, great staff. Food arrived very quickly. 33 euros for 2 pizzas and 2 colas. Great price. Cash only, no debit or credit cards.

I usually don't write rewiev, especially if it has to be a bad one, im working in the gastronomy corner since 15years already and run a restaurant aswell, so im aware that every worker or owner can have a bad day and this is fully ok as we are not machine, and even machine makes errors...but to everythings there is a limit, expecially if we are speaking about discrimination, at that point there are no excuse anymore. i arrived at the restaurant alone, and after getting inside to say hello and for asking if it would be possible to take a sit to eat and drink something, the guy at the bar, answred with a really unfriendly tone, that this was not his task and that i have to wait, altought his aggreasive behavior i told him that al was cool, to not stress himself as i got plenty of time and tryed to react as soft as possible so to not make any kind of pressure to him, after some minuts a lady was coming to me to let me take a sit to a table, i orderd a "curry wurst" with some fries and one 0,5ml helles beer, once the beer arrived to the table it was missing at least 0,2 ml as it was fully of foam, after that, i kindly asked the lady if it would be possible to properly fill up the glass to 0,5ml (as this i actually what i was about to pay for) and if they do everytimes like this ( the other beers that i was seeing on the other table, they where delivered exactely with that so much foam, the people didn't noticed it, but as im running a restaurant aswell, those are things that i personally give importance too, as like that, serving less then what u usually have to pay for it's clearly called scam. The answer from the lady was🤡: i should wait that the foam will go away and that then it would be a fully 0,5 beer 😂 i sayed ok thank you, i waited for the foam to fill up my beer finally properly but this never happened, as from my glass 0,2 was clearly missing and i was feeling much more scammed after her answer, i got actually back to my table super shocken and with literally no words left. After few minuts the lady was coming to my table and ask me if everythings was fine, and i could feel how unsure she was feeling on about asking me this question🆘️, i kindly answered that it was not my intention to complain but in my beer still the 0,2 was missing, i speak german with an italian accent, and there started the discrimination after the scam, she took the beer from my hands in a really aggressive way and told me to go somewhere else to eat and drink 😬😵‍💫🤯 i was literally shocked after this behavior and was about to start to cry for how discriminated i was feeling and had to control my self to not take apart the place to be real, as strange it can sounds, everyone can do errors and have bad days, but if there is something that let me freak out its RACISMS AND DISCRIMINATION, at that point i can't guarante that i can manage to stay calm and keep my behavior professional as this stuffs it's not acceptable and out of this world, i altought somehow managed to stay calm and to not lose my nervs and just leaved the place as i was asked for, but this was CLEARLY DISCRIMINATIONS, THAT NO ONE CAN OR SHOULD TOLLERATE. i personally feel ashamed to be in holiday in this place and that i have been tryng to support this shady business that you can cleary call a NAZIPLACE, well, fortunately those times are over and there as still people out there that left no breath to discrimination in every kind of his form. Even if they would say sorry i would never accept it, and you all should boicott this place thats making business up on the beautiful nature grainau has got, but no worry, karma don't makes fails, and the nature will let you pay everythings, it's just a question of time. The dishes are prepared with love, the portions are generous, and the taste is simply delicious – just like at home! A cozy atmosphere and friendly service perfectly round off the experience. Delicious food. Unfortunately, by 8 p.m., there's hardly any choice. The service is a bit blunt and rather dismissive. The owner still cooks herself. Very authentic. Prices are okay. The courtyard is a bit drab, but okay.

The cordon bleu was delicious: crispy breaded, juicy filling, and perfectly balanced in flavor. The fried potatoes were beautifully golden brown, and the fresh berry salad was a pleasant side dish. It was accompanied by a good beer in a cozy atmosphere. Friendly service – I'd be happy to come back.

My wife and I visited Grainau for the first time. While looking for a restaurant to quench our hunger and thirst, we came across the Chapeau Claque. At first we walked past it because it looked like a "village pub" and a few neighbors were sitting outside. But then we finally went in. Good thing!!! It was fantastic. The landlady's immediate greeting, using the informal "du" (you), was brilliant. Very warm and homely. The food was like mom's at home. Maybe even better. My wife needs a salt shaker in every restaurant, but not here. Everything was delicious!!! The prices and service here are absolutely fair and deserve more than 5 stars. It's nice that there are still such wonderful people who make an effort and make you feel welcome.

I like it so much very chill place to rest and savour a good beer and a traditional breakfast with Weißwürste like a Bavarian Folk. I love it because after my hike to the top of Germany on zugspitze the beer here tasted so good. I hope to come here again in my futures hiking moments.

Great little local place, but also very welcoming to newcomers. The first day we went for drinks and became fast friends with all the regulars at the bar. Sadly we were too late to eat that day, but decided to book the next day. I was expecting something causal but the food was really delicious and quality. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Grainau. The rating is not exaggerated but honestly created by us from the bottom of our hearts. Susanne is an attentive and courteous host and pampers her guests. We all became very fond of each other. The food is super tasty and freshly prepared. We always felt very comfortable and will definitely come back on our next vacation.

We love this “bar”. The food is fresh and tasty, the team is very nice and friendly. We feel very comfortable there and always enjoy coming here.*update January 30th, 2024* and we ended up at Chapeau Claque again, very tasty food, friendly and very attentive team. The garlic soup and beef goulash are highly recommended. The Augustier beer is freshly tapped and wonderfully cool, see you soon!!

A small, fine bistro - we discovered it by chance in September 2024 and were glad that our vacation was only half over. We (4 adults and a small dog) ate with Susanne every day. Susanne (owner, cook, waitress) took the time to ask us about any intolerances and allergies. The dishes were also beautifully presented, which was not only good for the stomach, but also for the eyes. Kathy (dog) also got a treat every time. We are already looking forward to the next time.

We were in Grainau over the weekend and discovered this friendly little bistro. The boss welcomed us warmly, so that we immediately felt at home. They quickly start talking to each other and enjoy this hospitality for a longer period of time. Suzsa then invited us over the next evening to try out her schnitzel specialties. It was a poem. Schnitzel and Cordon Bleu with fried potatoes and a very tasty salad. Everything is freshly prepared and you and your wife taste it the same. Afterwards my wife was able to enjoy what she says was the best and biggest Aperol. It was another fun and very pleasant evening. Many greetings to the boss and we will definitely come back!!!

We have been enjoying being guests here for some time now. Susanne, who runs the restaurant, is very nice and the glasses are not empty. The food is always freshly prepared and tastes fantastic. You can sit comfortably inside and outside and come into contact with the people of Grainau. We can only recommend this great restaurant.

I wanted to eat there. But what I wanted to eat wasn't there. The menu is already very small, so it shouldn't be a problem to serve a few fries with chicken nuggets. She offered me a currywurst with fries for 14 euros. I didn't want that because it was too much for a snack dish. She then took the drink that had already been served to me from the table and banned me from the restaurant. I have never experienced such an unfriendly landlady in my life. If I could give zero stars, I would. Unfortunately, that won't be of much use, because the tourist town of Grainau will attract enough guests there.

Sooo freshly prepared food with love...best quality!!! Rarely eaten so well, tasty and plentiful. (Goulash with home-made spaetzle, cream schnitzel with chanterelles and a dreamy side salad...) Thank you also, dear Susanne, for the heater and the delicious mulled wine in the September cold 😚

Inconspicuous restaurant in Grainau that offers culinary classics. The Chapeau Claque in the Baumgartner Passage impresses with dishes of incredibly good quality, and based on our own experience, the Tyrolean Cordon Bleu and the spinach dumplings are particularly recommended. Not a classic salad side dish, but a sweet version that is similar to a dessert: fresh leaf salad with strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberry sauce. The service was extremely nice, you could even hear the chef tapping the schnitzel. Fresh and good preparation of the food is therefore guaranteed. All in all, very good quality at a more than fair price.

We recommend!!! It's always true that it's better to have something small, cozy, honest/warm and tasty than a' la card and so on. Shortly after arriving we actually just came to wait for a drink and then spontaneously had lunch. The “Tyrolean” cordon bleu was really great! Went there several times during our vacation and were always warmly greeted/welcomed, whether in the morning or evening. We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately very unfriendly landlady. The two of us were there in February. There was a carnival parade in town. We were there from morning to evening, unfortunately when we asked we didn't receive any food in the evening, the landlady said the kitchen would be closed today and that we should go eat somewhere else (and that after drinking and partying there all day, so to speak she practically said from 9 p.m. that we should leave now and literally kicked the guests out.

I would prefer not to give any stars at all. We spent the whole day there drinking and watching the carnival parade. When we were hungry in the evening we were told to go eat somewhere else. We did that and got two pizzas from the pizzeria nearby. Apparently the landlady was also hungry and went to another restaurant and asked us if she could have a piece of the pizza. She then gave our pizza to other people… She then became cheeky and insulting! We've really never experienced anything like this before. You can't beat it for audacity.

Meine Frau und ich waren im heutigen Regen spontan ein paar Kilometer spazieren. Wir gingen spontan ins Restaurant und bereuten keine Sekunde. Wir wurden äußerst gastfreundlich zum Tresen gebracht, da wir nur etwas trinken wollten. Wir haben dort sehr bequem gesessen und konnten sogar beobachten wie recht unhöflich Gäste konstruktiv und besonnen behandelt wurden, obwohl diese sich nicht an die Hausregeln hielten und ewig diskutierten. Abgesehen davon, fühlten wir uns so wohl, dass wir sogar viel später als geplant das Restaurant verließen (spontan incl. 3 hausgemachten Abendessen to go) Beide Personen vor Ort (inclusive einem perfektem Abendessen, waren den Schlechwetterspaziergang wert) Danke

My wife and I spontaneously went for a few kilometers for a walk in today's rain. We spontaneously went to the restaurant and didn't regret a second. We were very hospitably shown to the counter as we just wanted a drink. We sat there very comfortably and were even able to observe how rude guests were treated constructively and prudently, even though they didn't follow the house rules and argued for ages. Apart from that, we felt so comfortable that we even left the restaurant much later than planned (spontaneously including 3 homemade dinners to go) Both people on site (including a perfect dinner, were worth the bad weather walk) Thanks

Wir sind während eines Urlaubs in Grainau mehrfach hier gewesen und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir haben dort nur ein paar Getränke zu uns genommen und wurden sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend behandelt. Auch zu unserem Hund war die Besitzerin ausgesprochen freundlich. Die Speisen, die wir an den anderen Tischen sahen, machten optisch einen guten Eindruck und die Gäste machten einen sehr zufriedenen Eindruck. Wir werden sicher wieder dorthin gehen.

Wonderful cosy place, very good food and splendid service.

There were five of us there, the food was excellent! We really enjoyed the schnitzel with champion cream sauce, the beef goulash, the cheese spaetzle, the Tyrolean cordonbleau and the currywurst with fries. Apart from the food, we were entertained excellently and served quickly by the landlady 'Susa'. Very good! Any time!

Simply great, I come here every year

I had the pleasure of spending a few evenings in this bistro with my girlfriend and it was just unbelievably good! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the landlady, Susa, contributed significantly to this. Her warm nature and attentive nature made us feel comfortable from the first moment. The food was delicious and prepared with love. The choice of food was varied and every bite was a delight. What really makes this place special is the personal touch. Susa took the time to chat with the guests and create a family atmosphere. It felt like you were visiting friends. If you are looking for a place that not only offers excellent food and drinks, but also warm hospitality, then you have come to the right place. I can't wait to come back!
