Café Vivo in Mainz

All food is fried in the same fryer. This gives all the dishes a very strange aftertaste. That's certainly not hygienic! I politely addressed it, and the unfriendly supervisor became insulting in front of everyone present! And then you go one step further and lie in your response to my review. It's about how vegetarian fries shouldn't taste like bratwurst!

The outdoor seating is lovely, with plenty of greenery around. The food is good, and the service is extremely friendly.

Café Vivo is located in the heart of Volkspark. It offers a lovely beer garden outside and cozy booths inside, as well as tables for larger groups. The menu is limited, but at least among our friends and family, everything was delicious and the portions were really generous. The service is friendly, prompt, and unobtrusive. We love coming here!

Four of us ate outside here last Tuesday evening (salad, burger, pinsa). Everything was delicious! Our server, Sam, was very friendly and extremely attentive! We haven't experienced anything like this in a long time. Thank you so much!

Everyone in the restaurant is very nice, but the staff at the accompanying snack bar are unfortunately not particularly polite. They have blank expressions and no "please" or "thank you," not even when tipping. And €4.50 for a very small portion of fries isn't bad either.

The gyro wasn't cooked through. I got a new one. It still didn't taste good. The burger was okay.

Nice service and tasty ice cream

It doesn't get much better than this. Even as a much-vaunted unfriendly German, you can experience what true friendliness means: When asked if I could borrow a spoon to feed my baby, I was initially denied and then asked for a €5 deposit in a very friendly manner. Gentlemen, dear non-German owners: That's German! Thanks for the good integration 😀 But this was compensated for with expensive yet bad food 😉

We visited the snack bar and can only review that one. A snack bar is not a restaurant, and that's something to keep in mind. But it was okay. The fries were well seasoned, the sausage was good (the curry sauce was okay), and the nuggets were well-fried. The price wasn't exactly cheap, but overall, it was good for a snack bar near the water playground.

Today I went to Volkspark with my family (daughter and husband) for the first time. Because I have kidney disease, I unfortunately have to go to the bathroom quite often to flush my kidneys. The outdoor restroom was extremely crowded, and I had to wait about 10 minutes for the women's restroom, so I asked to use the restroom inside the restaurant. The employee of the café/restaurant allowed me to do so, but when the owner found out, I was verbally abused in a way that was unacceptable. I wasn't even allowed to say what my health condition was or explain myself, so I was practically kicked out of the café/restaurant just for wanting to use the restroom inside. Absolutely outrageous

Unfortunately, the beer was undrinkable. However, the waiter accommodated us and didn't charge for it.

An incredibly rude staff, no one wants to work once and never again. The boss should think about a personnel change!

Unfortunately, Café Vivo is the only gastronomic offering in the Volkspark. With super unfriendly staff who simply walk on and wave away when asked, raw meat and soggy tarte flambée follow. We definitely won't do that to ourselves again. Unfortunately, when I ask the boss, all I get is: “You can’t find any staff”… insight = none. Do yourself a favor and bring your own food and drink to the Volkspark.

The quality of the food was adequate for a snack. However, the service staff were a bit slow. But the portion sizes were a disgrace. If you order the bratwurst with the fries, you should have an advantage. Otherwise, half a portion of fries is far too little. A five-year-old child should be able to eat for €7. That wasn't the case for us.

Unfriendly staff – never again! Today I had a very disappointing experience. The staff was unfriendly and disrespectful, especially towards pregnant women. Instead of help or consideration, the door was even closed in my face - absolutely unacceptable! Such behavior is unacceptable and I will definitely not visit this place again. Humanity and politeness should be a given - unfortunately not available here.

Ice cream wasn't homemade and doesn't taste good

The atmosphere is nice, the waiter was very nice, but the food was very, very bad. I'm sorry.

Very unfriendly staff. They offered a currywurst and fries deal with a soft drink for €10, but they still charged us €12.50. When we asked why, we were very rudely told that we had to say we wanted the deal ourselves. They promised us a refund, but we didn't get any, so we left it at that, deciding that this would be our first and last purchase.

Nice cafe in the Volkspark. Especially in summer when you can sit outside.

Basically the food was ok but rather expensive. Unfortunately there was no menu outside, otherwise we would have looked for something else. The staff was friendly. There are wheelchair accessible spaces on the lower floor with a good view. But I didn't see any toilets for wheelchair users; the others can only be reached via the stairs on the first floor.

Mir gefällt das Restaurant, mir gefällt die Lage und mir gefällt das Essen dort. Das Problem ist der Service. Die Kellner gehen so schnell, dass sie einem nicht zuhören, wenn man ihnen etwas sagen möchte. Ich brauchte Servietten, weil sie mir nur eine gegeben hatten und diese fleckig wurde. Ich bat den Kellner um Servietten, er sah mich an und ging weiter. Ich dachte, er hätte mich gehört, aber er hat mir keine Servietten gebracht. Es war jedoch ein Hund da und sie hatten Zeit, ihm Wasser zu bringen. Natürlich halte ich es für eine gute Sache, Tiere zu respektieren. Aber ich fühlte mich vernachlässigt und ignoriert.

We celebrated our Christmas party there with 35 people and were very satisfied! The staff is very quick and attentive, the back room that was reserved for us is very nice and spacious and we were also very happy with the food! Many thanks to the Vivo team for the wonderful Christmas party!

Better than expected. Burger was tasty and good. Prices okay. It's just closed too early, at 10 p.m. Can you go...

Bistro in Mainz Volkspark. The beer garden is nice, especially in summer. The service is also nice and friendly. The food could be better, it seems like a simple, quick snack kitchen, so there is room for improvement. More could also be done for the ambience and the feel-good factor. If you like going to the park, like me, this is still a place where you can stop for a quick break after a walk or other activity.

Bad food and unfriendly service. Rolls can be used as roof tiles and the waitress always tried to answer messages on the cell phone. According to him, October 4th also counts as summer time. Therefore the heating is not switched on. It was dirty too. Spider webs are part of the inventory. 0/5

I can recommend the place (Volkspark), but not Café Vivo. The food is bad, it's dirty, the price/performance isn't right and the male service is rude and very ignorant. It's ok to have a drink there in summer and enjoy the view but nothing more.

Boss just sits around. Not enough staff

We were in this restaurant today and are super happy with the food and the excellent staff/service especially from Sarah and Dominik. It couldn't be better or faster, despite the good workload there's still a bit of time for a sensible speech! So, all is well and keep it up!! ,

Service could be improved, Pinsa are great, price performance too expensive, salad with chicken not enough, could have been a side salad for 16 EUR extortionate. You can do it, you can also leave it be.

Vino snack bar; Currywurst/French fries €7.50. Taste ok. But why each sausage is "grilled" individually in the deep fryer when there is a lot of crowds is incomprehensible and a no-go!

Unfortunately, the service is overwhelmed with a half-full terrace. At the next table they say that orders have to be made quickly otherwise they won't be able to take any more orders. We had the pinsa and the bruschetta with Parma ham\country ham. On the note that it is not Parma ham. I was told in an un/professional manner if I had something to complain about, I should write an email. Unfortunately, smoked ham was used instead of Parma ham. We were skillfully ignored for a second round of drinks. If you want to look at how service doesn't work then you've come to the right place

If you could award negative points, they would really be appropriate here. The service is underground. I can't say anything about the food because it's impossible to place an order. They have to learn how to work again here.

A very nice restaurant with an attached beer garden. Ideal for children.

Today I ordered a children's plate from the waiter and a shandy. He looked at me and wrote both down. There was hardly any activity in the restaurant, I suspect because the prices were way too high. After over 35 minutes I asked where the food was. The waiter told me the food was out and he told me that. A blatant lie to cover up your own incompetence. The waiter also knows me. I always order the same thing several times a week. This restaurant will not see me again until there is a change of operator and waiter. The waiter's reaction was also the worst thing. UPDATE The restaurant's response once again spreads lies. The waiter hadn't forgotten, but he was blatantly lying. The guests at the neighboring table could confirm this. You can see the lack of insight in the restaurant's response. The restaurant won't see me again. You only treat me like that once.

Very nice place to have a drink and a meal. Prices are fair. Quality is spot on. Service is friendly. The seats could be more comfortable outside, but aren't bad at all. Toilet is very clean which is always a good indicator for a healthy clean kitchen. The place is located in the folks park right in the city of Mainz.

At the snack bar you will find a small selection of food and drink, which is completely sufficient. 2 points deducted because of the older saleswoman who answered my question about the combos on offer with "Look carefully!"

I ordered breakfast and since I don't like eggs, asked for an alternative. E.g. a slice of sausage, a piece of cheese or a piece of fruit. After about 30 minutes, breakfast arrived and, as requested, it was without eggs, but without an alternative. When the bill came and I was supposed to pay the full price, I referred to the situation again. They replied: “We don’t have any fruit”. I insisted on reducing the price by the egg. The breakfast itself was okay, but nothing special.

The service is a bit simple or takes some getting used to.

We sat on the terrace during the week (Tuesday) and ate pinsa, which was also good and good value for money. Unfortunately, the “leftovers” of the weekend visitors (overflowing garbage cans and garbage bags) had not yet been cleared away and rats kept scurrying across the space between the restaurant and the water playground. This made our good mood “disappear” a bit :-( and we quickly proceeded to the payment process...

The associated snack bar is terrible... please don't waste your money on food there. I paid €16.50 for fries with nuggets and beef curry with fries + drink. We've never eaten anything so disgusting. We had to throw away all of the food in front of the lady. I told her it was absolutely inedible and she didn't even apologize for it. Really only recommended for drinks.

It's not a luxury cafe, but the atmosphere is unique. I imagine in my mind how on a hot summer day the café would be filled to the last chairs, we could drink a cappuccino in comfort and exhaustion, while the children could play in the water playground right next door. The staff are in line with what is now usual, and those who choose from the lunch menu can get away cheaper. All I can say is that it won't be the last time I've been here.

Bad food, long wait, and kaka decoration

Very nicely located, delicious food and friendly service.

I’m sorry to say that this place is awful. They misrecorded our order (which was clearly made) and brought the wrong food. They then argued aggressively with us saying that they would not replace the order. Eventually after much argument they very reluctantly agreed to bring our children(!) what they had actually ordered. Never coming back here.

If you want to go to the toilet with a small child, it's bittersweet to be turned away...

I hope that something fresh will come in there soon, because I don't think it's nice at the moment. The food doesn't taste particularly good, the service is very unfriendly. Volkspark is something very special for many people in the area. But the dry atmosphere in the bistro doesn't deserve it.

There will be scents of guests at a wedding this weekend, which was celebrated lavishly in Café Vivo. The staff was friendly and the food was good. It was particularly nice to have the opportunity to spend time inside and outside. We will definitely come back, even without a wedding.

We were guests at a wedding at Café Vivo and it was a dream. The location of the restaurant is perfect in spring. The trees are blooming and the sun is shining brightly. Very nice atmosphere. Despite the many people, the staff was very attentive and friendly. The selection of food was balanced and delicious! An unforgettable day.

Good opportunity to have breakfast or have a coffee. The café is well maintained and clean. The ambience is reminiscent of a cozy winter garden. The many windows make the café seem bright and you can watch what's going on in the park. There are also options to sit outside. The breakfast is okay in terms of price-performance. The muesli was fresh with grapes, fruit and nuts and the roll was slightly warm. The coffee had a pleasant acidity.

Price performance is not justified, far too expensive for 0815 food

Ambience is nice, unfortunately a bit lukewarm inside. The conditions were very attentive. We all had burgers, it was ok but nothing more. The fries tasted like stale fat. What I didn't like at all was that kids ordered ketchup and mayo several times, and for a small portion in a separate bowl there was an additional charge of 50 cents per bowl, without anyone informing us about it. That doesn't work at all. We definitely won't be back for dinner, but the beer garden is a nice place to sit.

The unfriendly employee doesn't even know the difference between pizza and pinsa... that would be the same... Please train before you go to the restaurant.

I had a chicken schnitzel with a side salad. The food seemed fresh and was OK. Unfortunately, the other alternative side dishes were “only” fries or potato salad. I would have liked normal potatoes or fried potatoes with it. The service was good (nice and timely) and the location on the Volkspark made a pleasant impression. Located in the middle of the beautiful Volkspark, it offers a great ambience and is an ideal place for young and old to linger.

The service was very good. The café is nice and offers everything you need for a family trip near the Volkspark. This is not an exquisite café, it offers more of a relaxed atmosphere. The cake counter looks good, if you don't expect confectionery quality you won't be disappointed.

A nice location in itself, but if you look closely, it definitely needs improvement. The service was super nice! We had breakfast there, relatively little choice. Some of the rolls were very hard. I ordered 2 fried eggs there for around 8 euros. It was nicely prepared, but far too expensive for two eggs and half a tomato and a slice of cucumber.

Was very satisfied, good service, friendly staff - the waiter even took the time to photograph our group (class reunion) several times. The prices were okay too.

I would leave 0 stars here if I could, I wanted to have a nice meal there TOGETHER with my family but unfortunately it wasn't possible because my food had been forgotten and when I asked they said it would come soon. It was half an hour later when my family had already finished eating and the children were getting restless after my meal When the food came, I said that I didn't think it was nice to wait over half an hour for bruschetta and my family was already ready, then it only came briefly and Knapp was simply forgotten! The big deal was my children, both of their dishes were cold. After I brought them back, both portions were warmed up again in the deep fryer. Never again !

Zuerst zum Verkaufsstand von Essen und Trinken neben der Skate-Inlinerbahn kann ich schreiben, dass die Preise für Essen z.B. für Currywurst (5 €) und Pommes Frites (4 €) schon zu hoch sind, was ich von der Preistafel letztens auch gelesen und gemerkt habe. Für normalen Preis sollten solche Sachen besser für Currywurst (2 - 3 €) kosten und die Pommes Frites besser (1 - 2 €), damit man nicht so viel Geld ausgeben muss. Das Personal ist aber ganz normal freundlich zu Kunden, es gab bei mir auch noch keine Beschwerden wegen Essen oder Trinken dazu. Zum Anderen sind am Wochenende, wo ich schon öfters war, oft große anstehende Schlangenreihen, aber zum Glück 2 geöffnete Kassen als nur eine Kasse. Was mir nicht gefallen hat, dass dort keine Kartenzahlung möglich war und man das Geld nur in Bar bringen sollte. Das hatte mir so eine junge Verkäuferin an der Kasse mal mitgeteilt. Zum Zweiten kann ich dem Restaurant für drinnen essen auch die ähnliche Bewertung wegen den Preisen geben. Das ist auch zu teuer. Meiner Meinung nach sind für mich die Preise dort nicht in Ordnung gewesen.

Personal und Location waren nett. Portionen leider ein Witz. Preis Leistungs Verhältnis passt leider nicht.

Ich war zur Sommerzeit dort. Draussen Biergartenatmosphaere. Es gibt eine zusätzliche Mittagskarte. Der Service war freundlich und recht schnell. Ein + dafür, daß er ungefragt eine Schüssel Wasser für den Hund meiner Freundin gebracht hat!! Blick ins Grüne auf den Volkspark, gegenüber Wasserspiele für die Kinder. Sehr lebhaftes Umfeld. Für Familien super geeignet. Daher... wer es lieber ruhig und gemütlich mag... andere Lokalität auswählen. Zumindest im Sommer!

Keine Spielecke, Kein Kinderhochstuhl, keine Waffeln (wie in der Karte angegeben), Kellner (ein älterer sehr schlanker Herr, der Besitzer?) war leider unfreundlich, Kuchen für 4 Euro (Preis musste erfragt werden) war nicht gut, Schokosoufle wie aus dem Supermarkt und aufgewärmt, dazu Erdbeersauce nicht aus Erdbeeren sondern diese Fertigsauce fürs Eis und die dann warm gemacht...war wirklich gar nicht lecker, auch nicht schön angerichtet und mit 6,5 Euro völlig überteuert, Pommes für 4 Euro Mini (eine kleine Hand voll). Ich denke die Antwort des Restaurants zeigt wie wenig Wert hier auf Kund*innen und Service gelegt wird. Schade.

Es könnte sooooo schön sein, die lokation verspricht schon etwas anständiges . Also der Service war bemüht aber konnte mir leider keine Auskunft darüber geben welchen Fisch sie bei ihrem Tagesangebot anbieten . Nicht wirklich der Fehler von Service sondern vom Koch der seine Leute nicht informiert. Als der Backfisch mit Kartoffelsalat und remoulade kam wurde mir klar , mehr Schein als sein . Ein Teller voller convenience , Kartoffelsalat aus dem Eimer und davon der schlechteste . Fisch vor paniert und leider auch den schlechtesten den man in der tk Abteilung finden kann . Um es nicht auf die Spitze zu treiben kürze ich an dieser Stelle ab . Hier sind mit Sicherheit keine Profis am Werk , leider wird hier versucht gastronomie zu betreiben ohne jegliche Leidenschaft und liebe zu dem was man da eigentlich tut .

Nettes Restaurant, nicht spektakulär. Die Pommes und die Limonade sind zu empfehlen.

Das Essen ist in Ordnung, nicht spektakulär gut aber auch nicht schlecht. Der Service ist sehr unterschiedlich, je nachdem wer gerade arbeitet. Im Regelfall allerdings aufmerksam und schnell. Obwohl das Café an sich sehr schön gestaltet ist, ist der Zustand allerdings eine absolute Katastrophe. Im Erdgeschoss ist soweit alles einigermaßen in Ordnung. Das erste Stockwerk ist allerdings schon seit Jahren vermutlich nicht mehr geputzt worden, und die Toiletten sind eine absolute Zumutung. Hier mangelt es wohl tatsächlich einfach an der Pflege.

Nette Bedienung und gutes Essen. Ich habe den Besuch genossen.

Schnelle und freundliche Bedienung, zügiges Servieren der Bestellung, alle bestellten Gerichte (Hähnchenschnitzel, Pizza, Burger und Braten) haben geschmeckt. Preise für Gerichte normal (10-15€), Getränke (insb. Saftschorlen für 0,4l um die 5€) vergleichsweise sehr teuer. Ein Stern Abzug weil auch auf Nachfrage kein Bon/Kostenaufstellung verfügbar war und ausgehändigt werden konnte.

Preis-Leistung angemessen. Der Service war schnell und nett! Wir waren mit vier Kleinkindern dort, die den Laden unsicher gemacht haben und alle waren sehr kinderfreundlich.

Super schneller und das Essen ist schmackhaft

WCs unmittelbar/außerhalb des Gebäudes geschlossen. Daher haben wir höflich für unseren kleinen Sohn gefragt, ob er kurz das WC dringend nutzen könnte, auch gegen eine Bezahlung. Dazu einen Hinweis gegeben, dass wir, nach einem kurzen Spaziergang, sowieso Gäste sein wollten. Antwort, geht nicht. Gehen Sie auf die andere Seite des Parks (ca. 300 m) zu den öffentlichen WCs. Sehr schade. Wir lassen den geplanten Besuch aus.

Artnight in Vivo, sehr schöne Location mit nettem Service

Essen war nicht gut, aber auch nicht schlecht. Wenn man hungrig war war es ok. Ein Buffet planen können die Mitarbeiter bzw. die Leitung des Lokals jedenfalls nicht. Für ein Buffet für 100 Personen, wobei lediglich ca. 80 erschienen, reichte das Essen kaum für eine Person aus. Fand am 15.09.2022 statt. Das Lokal ist meiner Meinung nach nicht zu empfehlen.

Ein netter Platz für Schnellimbiss! Besser kann ich es nicht bewerten. Das Personal war freundlich und sehr bemüht. In Zukunft verzichte ich aber auf diese lokation.
