Café Romeo Romeo in Köln

I recently went there for breakfast with my girlfriend. Our table wasn't bad in principle, but it was very, very narrow in order to fit as many people in as possible. You had to turn to the side the whole time to make room for the waiters. I could imagine that it could get tiringly loud in the evening. The waitress was nice, but the service was average. Of course I can ignore that if the food tastes as good as our breakfast did. Purely from a technical point of view, a clear recommendation. However, one thing struck me as very negative. There was exactly one male service employee, I assume the management, who was underground. He started complaining loudly (we had to pause our conversation) about his other employees, I assume runners. That they don't have to record anything and how much their incompetence upsets him. He also maintained a rude tone towards the guests. He called out to a couple on the first floor what was going on, as they didn't seem very happy, they said they wanted to pay and he just replied "come down then". Completely wrong career choice this young gentleman made. I can only recommend that the owner reconsider his choice, as such employees are damaging to his reputation. If we are in the area again we might stop by again for the food, maybe something will have changed in the service by then.

I was at your place yesterday with my girlfriend and I have to say, me and my girlfriend were served so well by the waiter. They responded to all of our wishes. The atmosphere was very nice and the food was good too. The water was poured for us and our order was ready within 15 minutes. We told the waiter that we still had to go to the cinema and therefore didn't have much time. He did everything so great!!!!!. We'll be coming more often from now on. Thank you for everything, my wife is also very happy.

Unfortunately very disappointed, we were there today with a friend, we wanted to try a delicious tart. When I asked if there was a ticket they said no, which I found a shame. I then wanted to know what kind of tarts they were and what was in them. Oh and they're dry too, there's no filling in them etc. After we canceled the drinks, which weren't even ready, just bonked according to our own statement, we were expelled from the house with the statement: We are now both banned from the house, which the employee shouted after us. I thought I was in a great professional cafe with professional staff. Very disappointing. We wouldn't have decided to visit again given such an experience. Absolutely unqualified. The other employee who actually had nothing to do with it then shouted after us. What is that please? Who is responsible if someone gets a shock? Not only that, if you can't have what you would like in a restaurant and either way you talk people out of it because you'd rather sell your waffles, then you don't have to be surprised when customers leave. Ban on a street where there is a restaurant every 10 meters is very ridiculous. Unfortunately you have to give one star. PS: We were very happy and had reserved a table in advance because we were there 14 days ago, the tarts looked exactly the same and were described as homemade, so we had planned to eat tarts today. There are very appetizing tartlets of various kinds in a display case in the shop window. When I asked the waiter what was what, the answer was "we don't know either." When asked again whether any of his colleagues knew that, he replied with "that knows "The boss, she's off work." Without being asked, he explained that the tarts weren't filled and were very small for the price. When I wanted to know, slightly irritated, whether he didn't want to sell it to us, he said, "Yes, should I lie?" In addition, the young man was wearing a very grubby, formerly white T-shirt, which in my opinion was a no-go in service. We then decided to leave the restaurant and canceled the drinks about 30 seconds after ordering, when I was told that this was no longer possible because the receipt had already been printed. When I said that it wasn't my problem, they told me in a very rude tone that I was now banned from the house. He followed us outside and repeated it, quite loudly. Thank you very much, we didn't need that, there are so many restaurants in the area, we won't bother the staff with our presence and our money anymore 🤣

Nice café but the service seemed a bit overwhelmed and unmotivated even though there wasn't much going on. Truffle pasta was delicious, but unfortunately the portion was very small. The pizza had no special taste and was very dry. The matcha was not of good quality, unfortunately bitter. Unfortunately everything is very expensive. The only tasty thing were the homemade lemonades 🙂

First of all: we only ordered coffee and cake. Both were good, but not worth the price. When you were serving, you could tell that they really didn't like their job. Today was our first time at Romeo Romeo & it was super delicious 🤤 The waitress Jasmin also rounded off our visit with her positive manner and her cool sayings.

Unfortunately very disappointed with this café, everything looks nice from the outside, but you are served in such a way by a certain employee named Jenny that you never want to come back. Firstly, we (3 people) were seated at a good table suggested by the staff member Jenny. According to the same employee, we had to leave the table after 3 minutes because a “large group” of people was supposed to arrive immediately and they didn’t show up until the end of our visit. Shortly after we left the table she seated a family of 3 people on the same table. We waited a very long time for 3 coffees and 3 cakes. But the most unpleasant thing came at the end when we wanted to pay. A very nice employee forwarded our question about paying to his colleague Jenny, who didn't make it to us for 15 minutes. Jenny then came to another table with the guests who came after us and had a very nice chat with them for at least another 10 minutes and let them pay. After a reminder from her colleague that we had to pay at the next table, she came to us and was told that the battery on the payment tablet was empty and we had to go to the checkout. We immediately expressed our dissatisfaction with the service to Jenny, for which she never apologized but reacted unfriendly, impatient and then cheekily. Never again.

There was more cheese on the pizza than dough and far too little sauce. The starter came with the main course even though it was specifically said it was supposed to be the starter. There were only mussels on the “Frutti di Mare” pizza and they weren’t even tasty! The ambience is very nice, but the service is really not good, and the fact that you can't pay by card wasn't mentioned before.

Today I was in this cafe for the first and last time. I ordered two brioches, including one without eggs, which I specifically told the waitress about. The food is average. My bruschetta wasn't tasty at all. The tomatoes were tasteless and unseasoned with green stalks. The service was also more or less ok. Not exactly polite or friendly, but not unfriendly either. For a city like Cologne that is simply not enough.

We went to this restaurant with a group of friends and ordered various types of salad and bruschetta. Everything was perfect: the salads were plentiful and made with really fresh ingredients. This place has been around for 40 years now. I prefer to sit outside (as weather permits); I think it's been 40 years (yes!) since the last time I took a seat inside. The place is very popular, so at some times, you might not be able to find a free table right away. Food (breakfast and bistro style) is pretty good and definitely not the usual bistro/cafe food you'll find elsewhere. It's at one of the prime hotspots of Cologne, but prices are still reasonable. Not extremely cheap, but affordable. Well worth the money, if you ask me. Service is excellent; so I give a generous tip every time. Ebenezer Scrooge disapproves. I don't care what he thinks, I like this place.

I’ve been there 3 times already for breakfast in 3-4 months intervals. The food is good, the location is really nice, so as the atmosphere. The staff depends 😅 some of the girls are really nice and friendly, others could be more welcoming. But what bugs me the most if the excuse they ALWAYS give that “the cards machine are defective so TODAY they would no be accepting cards” but it is always the same excuse, not even EC card. What kind of problem is this that lasts over a year? 😅 One time they made us walk to an ATM to withdraw money. The last time I was so pissed at this that they “decided to try” and magically the card payment went through, I mean, seriously? Also, they could simply offer PayPal payment instead of making us walk to the next ATM. Or simply say they don’t take cards and only money

With this rating, anyone might think this is the best place to be. Beware. This is not what you think, bad food, moldy fruit and so much fat in the food. If you are into that, go for it.

Were there for breakfast or brunch and ordered the brunch plate. Everything was delicious so far, but the sausage didn't go well with the whole thing, it wasn't nicely presented, cheese was slathered on and the combination just didn't really fit. We didn't want a sucuk as described on the menu but got something similar, not OK, so we left it behind. The bread was very tasty. You might have to rethink the combination and the preparation. We were ignored and a group that came after us got a table outside in the shade before us, even though we were first in line (we came from FFM) and wanted to reserve by phone in advance, but that wasn't possible. After we pointed this out to a waitress (very blonde hair and extreme eyelash extensions), she reacted very rudely and moodily. We won't be coming back.

We came from Dusseldorf, Yesterday we was there. Simply great! Very fresh and delicious noodles! I can only recommend it to everyone. For me the best noodles in the Cologne area!!

Everything was very lovingly prepared. Extremely tasty and there's nothing to complain about here. A very clear recommendation for food. The only drawback was that it took 1 hour from ordering to serving breakfast! Not just with us, but also at all the neighboring tables. The staff tried very hard, but seemed very overwhelmed and stressed at times. We asked for the bill three times before we paid at the cash register in the restaurant ourselves after 30 minutes. There is certainly still room for improvement here.

RR is one of the constants in this area of town where restaurants and shops change a lot. It stays true to the stylish but down-to-earth character. The menu is pragmatic, something for everyone, but the quality is always really very good. For us it is often the go-to place, be it for ice-cream, a coffee or dinner or lunch when we don't feel like cooking. Recommended.

I was very disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. The waitress was consistently unfriendly and impolite. I was particularly struck negatively by a blonde, thin waitress. We politely asked for the menu, but she refused to give it to me and said "Yes, I'll give it to you straight away, but you can see that I have something to do". She had cashed in from customers before, I saw that too, but she was finished cashing in and had nothing to do at that moment. As she was leaving the store, she also deliberately bumped into me without apologizing. It was characterized by incompetence and a lack of interest in the guest. The waitress was not only inattentive but also extremely rude which made the entire experience very unpleasant. Due to these negative experiences, I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant.

If you're ONLY interested in the food and not the service, this is the place for you. The food is so delicious and the service is extremely miserable and bad. Only the bare essentials are spoken to each other here. I'm thinking about not coming back because of that, I just don't feel well. What a shame given the good food! And I've probably eaten at Romeo's 4-5 times.

Very, very long wait for brunch. Service was overwhelmed with 2 people for 2 floors and outside terrace. I had to get the plates myself because they were simply forgotten. The record I ordered was ok but not breathtaking. Very normal selection of cheese and sausage. The big thing was that you could only pay with cash and this was not announced beforehand.

The owner of this restaurant is apparently running bare minimum staffing. The poor waitress is totally over worked. I understand I don't speak German but when you say lasagna doesn't that mean lasagna? In both German and Italian and English? And apparently they don't take card payments either. The table next to me refused / returned their pizza / and didn't order anything to replace it.
