Stopped here at the end of a hike. Although we arrived just before closing time (6:00 PM), we received a very friendly and welcoming welcome. The cake was delicious, as always, and the service staff is second to none. Top address, top recommendation

Mega delicious food! We particularly recommend the beef cheeks, which are so tender that they melt in your mouth. And the service was super friendly and accommodating. “Extra sausages” are “fried” without batting an eyelid. It's not your typical "stinginess is awesome" location, but it's worth every penny. We'd love to come back!

Point 1, my parents got married here in the 70s and it still exists! Point 2, very courteous employees who radiate friendliness and warmth. Point 3 family-run company with several traditions. That alone deserves great respect. You can enjoy service at a high level over several floors. You can also sit outside, with heaters of course, so you can feel really comfortable. We went for a café drink with the family on a Saturday (approx. 20 people). Of course we had reservations. It feels like there are endless varieties of café & cakes. (with flavor, with liqueur, with cream, with ice cream, everything and more. The selection of cakes is great, really great. In my opinion the decor is cozy & nostalgic. We were all very enthusiastic and satisfied. Highly recommended!

A little insider tip for anyone who loves lovingly homemade cakes and appreciates excellent service. The cake and the food there are great. The selection of cakes is very large and there is also something for vegans. Everything is delivered very quickly and the service ladies are more than friendly. You could actually give this more than 5 stars. We'll definitely be back. 😊

We were spontaneously there and immediately got a place for lunch. Hot asparagus soup, beef cheeks and beef rump, all very tasty and plentiful. I found the service to be a bit overly friendly, an octave lower seems more honest. For dessert we went to the café and we actually had cake and coffee. Cozy interior and definitely worth another visit.

An ideal place to stop off on a hike and taste the wonderful cake. But you also feel extremely comfortable here in the evening.

Food, ice cream, cake, service, everything was top notch. Upon request, there was coffee with oat milk, and the menu includes two vegan dishes and also vegan cake. You should make a reservation on the weekend, luckily we still had space for the two of us.

The service is always friendly, attentive and ensures that you as a guest feel completely at home. The cozy ambience rounds off the experience and invites you to linger longer. A place you'll always love to return to!

You just have to stop here. We were able to reserve a table for Christmas at short notice. Very polite, friendly and attentive staff. A disabled family member was immediately offered help. You rarely experience that. The cake was great and so was the homemade ice cream. The interior is great very comfortable. Thank you very much and good luck to all the staff.

The Waldschlösschen is a place that one wishes would still exist in a hundred years. We have rarely encountered such genuine warmth. Cakes, tarts, ice cream and food in the restaurant are excellent and recommended. I still knew the forest castle as a child. We vacationing children always played with Matthias on the slope behind the house. Today his daughters run the house. The hiking trails start directly behind the house. There are enough parking spaces available. An absolute must in Friedrichroda.

You can easily get here by car or bus. Service was great, very nice employees and accommodating, if you wanted something different you got it. I didn't use the room but I would say that it was very tidy and nice. You don't even have to start with the food, it was very tasty.

We spontaneously walked into the forest castle on Sunday and were immediately enchanted by this gem in the Thuringian Forest. Although the inn certainly has no shortage of guests, a table was immediately set up for us on the terrace. Service great, food great. We felt very welcome and would like to thank the entire team for their very warm hospitality.

Many thanks to the Waldschlösschen team. The coffee table on the occasion of my birthday was a dream. All of my numerous guests felt very comfortable. There were even non-alcoholic cocktails for the children. The particular hit was the poppy seed cake. We would like to have more of that next time 😀

I had two potato pancakes with vanilla ice cream, fresh fruit and applesauce with sugar and cinnamon. My wife had chicken breast with potatoes, peas and carrots. There was also some meat Highly recommended. Also suitable for children. The toilets are also very clean. The frame from Singermaschine is unique and has a sink on it with a copper tap. The café & restaurant is located on a small hill on the edge of a forest. So perfect for a walk before or after dinner. If you like home cooking and homemade cakes and tarts with the best ingredients, you will most likely get your money's worth here! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. A loving and detailed ambience completes the whole thing. All in all, highly recommended!

Today we were, not for the first time, in the forest castle. The beef cheeks were with red cabbage, which is happily exchanged for a small surcharge, whatever!! Instead of red cabbage, we got a small bowl of mushrooms. Now you think, a 2 or 4 euro surcharge might still be possible But to charge 8.60 euros for the exchange is outrageous, simply outrageous!! That says again, you should ask about everything beforehand, or perhaps the waitress should explain it to the guest straight away, but it costs... outrageous!!

In the best summer weather, the visit to the café was a highlight on our bike tour. The selection of cakes is a dream, the ice cream sundaes are very large and lovingly prepared. Everything was very tasty, including the coffee. The service was very friendly and accommodating.

We were here for the first time today. Completely exhausted after an 8km hike, we were kindly let in and said, "You can sit at the counter", even though it was packed. All the ladies were super friendly, we were served quickly, and the food was top class, grade 1 from us. Despite the crowds, the waitress always had a smile on her face. Stay as you are. Romantically located in the Thuringian Forest. We were there for coffee. The cakes and tarts are all freshly prepared daily and are very tasty. Inside you feel like you've been transported back in time. Everything is still furnished like it was almost 100 years ago, very nostalgic and loving. The house is family run, everyone is very nice. Everything is done to make you feel comfortable there. We went there to have coffee on a festive occasion. The table was festively set and there were lots of delicious cakes to choose from.

We were there after a hike Cafe & Restaurant Waldschlöschen Stopped in and had a delicious wild garlic soup. Then a piece of cake from the fantastic cake buffet, all homemade Made by the dad of the 3 lovely sisters who took over the forest chowing from their dad. The whole ambience and the dining rooms, They are in the style of the 60s, just to feel good. There are enough photos floating around, just go there and feel good.

I returned to this time-honored house with my husband to have coffee. We chose a nice table for two in the dining room and didn't have to wait long for the waitress, who very kindly invited us to choose our cake at the counter. Man oh man, what a huge offer!!! A paradise for those with a sweet tooth like us. With very good coffee, we enjoyed these works of art baked and created by the chefs themselves and thought it was a shame that our stomachs weren't bigger. In any case, we will come back again and again and again because there are still so many varieties. We wish all the good brownies and ladies from the Waldschlösschen lots of strength and energy and all the best!

Service was simply top class, something I've never experienced before. Cakes and tarts were great, just like grandma's. I can only recommend it if you are nearby.
