Tolles Café mit besonderem Ambiente. 1a Kuchen. Fixes und freundliches Personal. Sind extra 100 km mehr gefahren, um her zu kommen. Hat sich sehr gelohnt. Auch wenn man etwas weiter wohnt, der Weg hierhin sich immer lohnt!

Schon beim Betreten wurden wir sehr herzlich und freundlich empfangen, sodass wir uns sofort willkommen gefühlt haben. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns die außergewöhnliche Auswahl an Torten. Neben traditionellen Thüringer Kuchen- und Tortenspezialitäten gibt es viele kreative Eigenkreationen, die man so nicht überall findet. Auch die große Auswahl an Tees sowie die hausgemachten Eistees ist hervorzuheben – eine tolle Ergänzung zum vielfältigen Angebot. Wer authentische Thüringer Tradition mit viel Liebe zum Detail erleben möchte, ist hier genau richtig. Das Waldschlösschen verbindet Gastfreundschaft, Qualität und regionale Backkunst auf besondere Weise. Eine absolute Empfehlung für Einheimische und Besucher gleichermaßen – wir kommen sehr gerne wieder! 😊

Wer ein gutes Café und eine entspannte Atmosphäre sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Das Eis war wirklich hervorragend und geschmacklich eine glatte Eins. Dazu kommt ein extrem nettes und zuvorkommendes Personal, das trotz vollem Laden super freundlich geblieben ist. Vielen Dank für den schönen Aufenthalt, wir kommen wieder!

Viele Jahre bin ich wöchentlich dort vorbei gefahren, ohne zu wissen, welches Idyll sich dahinter verbirgt. Die Torten und das Eis sind der Hammer und oberlecker. Das junge Team super freundlich und trotz größtem Stress immer ein Lächeln auf den Lippen. Und obwohl das Café voll war und die Leute noch an standen, um Kuchen mitzunehmen, strahlten sie eine besondere Ruhe aus. Vielen Dank liebes Team für diese Köstlichkeiten und die schöne Zeit in eurem Haus. Macht bitte weiter so. Ihr habt in uns neue Stammgäste gefunden. Danke, Danke, Danke.

Schöne Terasse, nach einer langen Wanderung der ideale Ort zur Einkehr. Nette Bedienung, leckerer Kuchen. Einzige Manko, leider etwas laut, da an Hauptstraße gelegen.

Ich war dort Kaffee trinken. Es gibt eine riesige Auswahl an leckeren Kuchen und Torten zu fairen Preisen. Das Personal ist flink und sehr freundlich.

Feines kleines familiengeführtes Hotel in kleinem romantischen Dorf. Rundum Wanderwege ideal auch mit Hund. Unbeschreiblich gut auch Frühstück und Essen mit Sternekochqualität vom Sohn der Familie und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist prima.

Wir sind am Ende unserer Wanderung im Waldschlösschen gelandet. Selbstgemachtes Eis und auch der Kuchen und die Torten von handgemacht.Sehr lecker 😋 Sehr empfehlenswert. Eingerichtet wie bei Oma und das sehr liebevoll.Das ist unser Eindruck vom Cafe. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Ein sehr schönes Café gemütlich rustikal eingerichtet.In jeder Ecke gabs was zu entdecken. Die vielen, vielen Torten und Kuchen sind selbst gebacken und einfach nur lecker.Ich Empfehle eine Reservierung. Das Personal ist sehr flott,nett und freundlich und sie haben noch Zeit für ein kleinen Plausch. Wenn wir wieder in der nähe sind ,werden wir auf jedenfall wieder die leckeren Torten probieren.

Während unseres 6 Tage Urlaubs in Finsterbergen sind wir 3 Mal Gast bei euch gewesen und waren mehr als begeistert. Gleich am Anreisetag sind wir zum Mittagessen im Restaurant gewesen und fanden es sau lecker. Der Küche haben wir ausrichten lassen, dass wir selten so lecker in einer Gaststätte gegessen haben und das der Koch sich einen Stern bei uns verdient hat. Ein paar Tage später hat es uns dann noch zu Kaffee und Kuchen zu euch verschlagen. Das Kuchen- und Tortenangebot ist der Wahnsinn und lecker war es natürlich auch wieder. Auch zum Mittagessen an unserem Abreisetag waren wir wieder sehr glücklich. An die Adresse stimmt einfach alles von der Umgebung über den Service bis hin zum Essen und den fairen Preisen. Wir sehen uns spätestens 2027 wieder.

Wir waren heute hier und haben Eisbecher gegessen. Es war wunderbar. Das Ambiente, die freundlichen Mitarbeiter und natürlich das leckere Eis. Wir bedanken uns und kommen mit Sicherheit wieder.

So eine Nachfrage ist man im Thüringer Wald so nicht gewohnt. Grandiose selbst gemachte Kuchen und motiviertes Personal locken (zurecht) viele Besucher an. Absolut zu empfehlen. Auch (oder gerade) nach einer ausgiebigen Wanderung. Vorab reservieren macht Sinn.

Wir waren mit unserem Hund im Waldschlößchen und es war einfach nur schön zu erleben wie freundlich und zuvorkommend das gesamte Personal uns empfangen hat! Das Angebot an Speisen, Torten und Eis lies keine Wünsche offen! Wir werden immer wieder kommen !

Meine Bewertung bezieht sich ausschließlich auf das Café oben im ersten OG, denn nur dort waren wir zu Gast. Hatten das Wochenende im H+ Friedrichroda verbracht und sind hier zum Abschluss einer Wanderung eingekehrt. Wir hatten im Vorfeld reserviert, was die richtige Entscheidung war, denn es waren so gut wie alle Plätze belegt (okay, wir waren auch zu 11 😉) Das Café ist gemütlich eingerichtet und uns empfing eine Frau, der man es anmerkte, dass ihr die Arbeit Spaß macht. Auch die anderen Damen, ob in der Bedienung oder hinterm Tresen waren durch die Bank sehr nett, ein eingespieltes Team. Es gab eine riesige Auswahl an verschiedenen Torten und eine große Auswahl an Kaffeesorten und Tee. Ich habe mich für einen klassischen“DDR-Mokka“ entschieden. Den hatte ich schon ewig nicht mehr. Wir können dieses Café uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Das Gesamtpaket passt.

Die Betreiber geben sich wirklich sehr viel Mühe. Es gibt aber nicht wirklich das gemütliche Kaffee Feeling, das man erwarten würde. Es ist sehr hektisch, Gedränge und ein Gefühl von schnellem Abfertigungsmodus, sicherlich je nach Auslastung. Aber weniger Sitzplätze würden dem Haus besser tun.

Wir haben 3 Nächte im „Waldschlösschen“ verbracht und fühlten uns sehr willkommen. Das Zimmer ist schön ruhig und gemütlich, viele kleine Dinge erinnern an vergangene Zeiten. Top Empfehlung! Kuchen und Kaffee ist sehr zu empfehlen. AM Wochenende war es sehr voll. Wir mussten ein bisschen auf einen Tisch warten. Die Auswahl an Kuchen und Torten ist sehr gut und überragend lecker. Die Deko ist für meinen Geschmack nichts - viel zu viel, Schreibmaschinen und Zeugs was in den Fenstern rumsteht. Das gefällt mir persönlich gar nicht. Auch bei der Tischdeko ist weniger definitiv mehr. Aber dafür ist der Service top. Der Kuchen/Torte schmeckt fantastisch, es gibt viel Auswahl , verschiedene Punschsorten, Eis, verschiedene heiße Schokolade, alkoholfreie Cocktails...

Wir waren am 1. Weihnachtsfeiertag im Restaurant zum Mittagessen. Um 13.15 Uhr haben wir angerufen, ob wir noch zum Mittagessen kommen können! Obwohl es sehr voll war, hat man es ermöglicht! Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, die Salate waren frisch mit einem exzellent Geschmack! Ich hatte eine Lachsforelle, besser geht nicht!!!!

Wir haben im Restaurant reserviert, wurden von zwei strahlenden Abgestellten begrüßt sehr freundlich durch den Abend begleitet. Köstliches Würzfleisch, leckere warme Steinpilze, Wildragout mit Klössen und Rotkohl und zum Nachtisch sehr gutes hausgemachtes Eis. Wir kommen jederzeit gern wieder, es war ein Genuss

Wir waren zum Kaffee trinken dort, das reichhaltige Kuchenangebot ist auch für geübte Kuchenliebhaber überwältigend. Das Ambiente ist toll, auch die überdachte Terrasse ist dank Heizstrahlern in der kalten Jahreszeit zu empfehlen. Man sollte unbedingt, auch unter der Woche einen Tisch reservieren! Parkmöglichkeiten sind im Umfeld reichlich gegeben. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder, dann wollen wir die gute Küche probieren. Für Wanderungen gibt's einige Möglichkeiten, welche gut ausgeschildert sind.

We were on a hike and passed by this charming café. We were actually a bit surprised that such a lovely and busy place could be in such a quiet area. The service was very friendly and even took time for a quick chat. The prices were very reasonable, and the selection was extensive. If we're in the area again, we'd be happy to stop by again.

We were there for coffee with a larger group following an invitation. Despite the packed place, all the staff were super friendly, with genuine smiles. What a treat! The homemade cakes and tarts need not be mentioned – a delight!

Very tasty food and very friendly staff. We were just there for dinner. We ate on the terrace. The food and drinks were delicious, especially the lemonade. There was hardly any waiting time, and the conversations were very pleasant. You can sit at various spots, like the garden, the terrace, or inside. Everything was very nice. The food selection depends on the time of day. Real food isn't available until 6 p.m., so there's cake, ice cream, fries, and spicy meat. The latter is recommended. Parking is right in front of the door or a few meters away. Payment is usually only in cash, but card is also accepted. Just ask nicely.

The staff is very friendly. The location is perfect. 👍 When it's really busy, parking is scarce. The atmosphere is fantastic. The cake buffet is amazing. The price/performance ratio is also excellent. We would definitely come back. One star deducted for the parking, but that's not a big deal. 👍👍👍👍

The Waldschlösschen is one of those places that's always worth a visit, and one can only hope that it survives the general decline of original dining establishments. The wonderful interior, the beer garden, the friendly staff, and, above all, the sensational cake are always worth a visit.

Everything from traditional dishes to original vegan dishes is available. Veal schnitzel is also quite rare in Thuringia. The restaurant/café is designed with great attention to detail. And then there's the huge selection of cakes from their own pastry shop. A truly wonderful end to our hike for us today. We'll be back.

Yes, absolutely! This café is such a wonderful, cozy, and heartily run restaurant that we can truly recommend it! We had cake and cappuccino in the afternoon, and sweet potato gnocchi with salad in the evening. The cake is a masterpiece from the in-house pastry shop...the only downside is the selection, as there are so many different cakes and tarts, all of which look very appealing. The cake was truly a feast, and dinner was equally delicious. Everything is highly recommended and, in our opinion (as foodies), a MUST! The service (everyone) was exceptionally friendly and accommodating!

In short, a fantastic cake buffet. The trip was worth it. The most vulnerable body part: the hip. The staff was top-notch!!!

The Waldschlösschen is a place you'll love to linger at. We stayed there for 14 days and enjoyed every single day. A full 5 stars for you. We stayed with you three Sundays in a row. Your location, the staff, the food—everything was just perfect. We had ice cream, drinks, lunch, cake… perfect. We'll be back when we hike the Rennsteig and will be happy to recommend you to others.

They still serve real, delicious whipped cream here! And not only was the service quick and friendly, we were also warmly greeted by the resident cat.

At coffee time, there was no chance of getting in without a reservation; there were endless lines. Shortly before closing time, we snagged a table on the terrace. The ice cream sundaes and homemade cake were delicious. Kudos to the service team, too.

I was privileged to stay in this wonderful location for a week. I arrived at the Waldschlösschen and received a warm welcome. The room was lovingly, quaintly, and comfortably furnished. Nothing was missing. The owner, Nancy Kühmel, was always in a good mood, had a listening ear, always a smile, and, despite her busy schedule, always took the time for a chat. The breakfast gets 10* out of 10*!!!! The cakes, tarts, and ice cream – all homemade with a great deal of love. And a huge compliment goes to ALL the staff. I've rarely experienced such friendliness and thoughtfulness towards guests. THANK YOU!!!! The food was amazing and exceptionally good – a special thank you to the two chefs. I will definitely be back, because the complete package was fantastic. ♥️

We can't rate the rooms, but we can rate the café. They serve fantastic pastries and ice cream at reasonable prices. The ambiance is very nice, and the service is friendly and good.

A truly lucky find. We were traveling in the area and stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. For me, the three dumplings with red cabbage and sauce were a dream. The food was very good for everyone, and every request was catered to. The service (young people only) was incredibly friendly. We felt very appreciated. Our tip: reserve a table; we were lucky, but it gets very busy. The building consists of several floors. The restaurant is on the ground floor, and the café is on the first floor. Everything has been restored to its historical appearance. You feel like you've been transported to the beginning of the 20th century. There's a small beer garden and a small winter garden (not everything is always accessible, but visible). The restaurant knows how to combine fine, old-fashioned dishes with a fresh, new twist. They serve local beer and gin (which you can also purchase), as well as homemade lemonade and cider. We were absolutely thrilled. Thanks also to the highly motivated team. You're doing a great job.

Mega delicious food! We particularly recommend the beef cheeks, which are so tender that they melt in your mouth. And the service was super friendly and accommodating. “Extra sausages” are “fried” without batting an eyelid. It's not your typical "stinginess is awesome" location, but it's worth every penny. We'd love to come back!

Point 1, my parents got married here in the 70s and it still exists! Point 2, very courteous employees who radiate friendliness and warmth. Point 3 family-run company with several traditions. That alone deserves great respect. You can enjoy service at a high level over several floors. You can also sit outside, with heaters of course, so you can feel really comfortable. We went for a café drink with the family on a Saturday (approx. 20 people). Of course we had reservations. It feels like there are endless varieties of café & cakes. (with flavor, with liqueur, with cream, with ice cream, everything and more. The selection of cakes is great, really great. In my opinion the decor is cozy & nostalgic. We were all very enthusiastic and satisfied. Highly recommended!

We spontaneously drove to the restaurant. We just got a table like this. We were thrilled with the service and the staff. The food was great, the prices are reasonable.

We were spontaneously there and immediately got a place for lunch. Hot asparagus soup, beef cheeks and beef rump, all very tasty and plentiful. I found the service to be a bit overly friendly, an octave lower seems more honest. For dessert we went to the café and we actually had cake and coffee. Cozy interior and definitely worth another visit.

A cafe that has many surprises in store. But best of all the very nice employees, thank you again. They immediately turned on the heater on the terrace and took great care to bring all the drinks and food. There is no need to talk about the delicious cakes/tarts, just try them.
