The food served was really good: a huge hamburger and a turkey salad. What was really annoying was that we were seated at a table where other people were sitting without asking, without clarifying this beforehand. Furthermore, the service was not really up to scratch; plates were not cleared. The bill didn't arrive until about 20 minutes later, after repeated requests.

Take the low reviews to heart. We went there ourselves because the brewery was at capacity. As a last resort. The waiters weren't particularly concerned with generating revenue. They were neutral. The drinks came fairly quickly. The food didn't arrive at our table for 35-40 minutes! Until then, the waitress didn't even look at us. There were 13 people there in total. My meal was "solid" but not amazing. I wouldn't have to have it again, and that's saying something. My fries were unevenly cooked (how do you manage that in a "restaurant kitchen"?!) My friend's food was burnt/scorched. The plates weren't cleared for about 10 minutes. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Great food at a great price! At first glance, it looks empty, but that's because everyone is sitting at the back of the restaurant. There's a small outdoor beer garden, and you can also sit inside, of course. It's also very dog-friendly, friendly, and has a wide selection at reasonable prices. The best food in Friedrichroda is here!

The food was delicious; it was hard to decide. The friendly service was also great; you immediately felt welcome. The restaurant is "old-fashioned" but still has a modern feel. The combination of the ambiance and the selection of dishes works perfectly. It's definitely worth a visit. Good value for money 👍🏻 We each had a drink, main course, and dessert and paid €60. Definitely worth it for the delicious food.

We were here two years ago, and I can only say the quality is still the same. The food is simply delicious! All I can say is, it's like eating at mom's, excellent home cooking!

My friend ordered mashed potatoes with a mushroom cream sauce. It had an extremely sour smell and tasted very bland and sour. When I mentioned it to the staff, she simply replied, "There's too much nutmeg in it, which is why it smells and tastes so sour." The mashed potatoes, however, didn't even come close to tasting like that. Our server was unsympathetic and, while we were eating, placed a sign on our table without comment. The table itself was smeared with sauce around the edges (see picture). I ordered a schnitzel with fries and a mushroom cream sauce, which was very tasty. All in all, I wouldn't recommend it.

Absolutely not. A modern name for the still-unusual staff. The plate is placed on your table with the comment "Enjoy your meal." It really couldn't be better. Afterward, by the way, we two had a terrible case of diarrhea. Thank you very much. The ambiance seems patched together. And just because there's a bowl of salt and pepper sachets on each table doesn't make it any more original. The East German touch is quickly worn out. School meals tasted better.

We stopped here spontaneously because we had some errands to do in town. The service was friendly and helpful. The wait for the food was perfectly acceptable. The portion size and taste were very good. I highly recommend it.

A great beer garden in the back building, hidden from view from the street. This was the best roulade I've had in a long time. Friendly service and draft beer. It's nice to see things are still back to normal. Please keep it up! Next time we're in Friedrichroda, we'll be back!☺️

We're on vacation here over Pentecost and had dinner. The service was very friendly. We didn't wait long, and the food was delicious.

Today was our first visit to Salt & Pepper on Hauptstraße in Friedrichroda. We had made a reservation in advance for 12:30 p.m. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. If you want to experience and enjoy authentic Thuringian cuisine, this is the place to go. We'll be coming here more often during our vacation.

We stopped here today for dinner while passing through. The food was delicious, and overall, we didn't have to wait long (though we were there at 4 p.m.). The waitress was okay. One negative thing we noticed was that they charge €2.50 for any changes! We consider a menu a recommendation. We don't understand this, and therefore deduct one star.

Food good, staff friendly and attentive

Good German food was very crowded because of the coach which meant a long wait but was told upon entry.

Price/performance ok but the ambience leaves a lot to be desired. You really can't complain about the food and the prices, it was good and sufficient. But a Chinese, a German and a Czech had a hand in furnishing the guest room. Everyone then met at the flea market and bought everything from the Ming vase to clay jugs to the 90s Techno Box and stuffed them into one room. Sitting at the cable drum As a guest it was somehow strange and uncomfortable; it doesn't belong in a restaurant but in a beach bar or something similar. So we didn't feel very comfortable, but we were happy to have enjoyed a decent meal at a fair price.

If the gastronomy presents itself like it does at the Easter market, thank you The bratwurst was neither appetizing nor tasty. An employee stands at the grill looking down with a stone-faced expression. The second employee puts charcoal on the grill. Using the same gloves, he then puts the thawed sausages on the grill. The building water was already dripping out of the sausages. The whole thing tasted bad... .... I highly doubt whether this met the hygiene requirements. The handwritten sign on the restaurant door unfortunately reinforced the negative impression.

Very good food. Requests for changes were addressed and implemented as requested. Perfect! We had the dog with us and called ahead. Wasn't a problem.

We visited last week. The food was okay, which annoyed us that at 8:30 p.m. we were always looking at the clock to see if and when we would leave. At 9:00 p.m. we were brought the bill without being informed in advance and we specifically asked how long it would be open (until 10:00 p.m.). Shortly after 9 p.m. we were shown the door. Very, very unfortunate.

Unfortunately we haven't had a chance to try the food yet. We were turned away a few weeks ago when we wanted to eat around 6 p.m. There were 2 tables occupied, the rest were free. Apparently there is too much to do because of a celebration... The next failure was last night around 7:30 p.m. We saw the flashing “Open” advertisement from afar and were looking forward to dinner again. But when we were at the entrance, the "friendly" service person pulled the plug on the advertising and informed us that it was now closed... Actually, according to the opening times, it is open until 11 p.m.!! There were only two people in the dining room and I think they just wanted to call it a day. It's a shame because we were hungry. The catering industry complains, but with service like this no one should be surprised if certain places are no longer visited. I cannot recommend this restaurant or this service!!!

I have visited this restaurant several times and can only confirm that the quality is always consistently high. Particularly worth mentioning is the cabbage roll, which is served in a generous portion and is really filling. The staff is very friendly and the prices are reasonable and fair.

Had reserved a table shortly beforehand. Very nice staff, very careful and friendly. Food requests were taken into account and so Sohnemann got exactly what he wanted and it tasted excellent. Thanks to the chef! Not only the children, but also us adults enjoyed it very much. The portions were pretty big. Keep it up.

Good and tasty food. Something for everyone. steaks; Burgers but also liver or unusual dishes such as Dead Grandma. The staff are friendly and always try to make you feel comfortable. Not our last visit. Tip: Better pre-order!

Six of us ate there today. Because we had read consistently good reviews, we made reservations in advance, which was certainly a good thing. The service was super friendly and we were able to order quickly. We all enjoyed the food. The burgers are amazing. We had to have the leftovers packed up because they were huge pieces. Other burger restaurants can take an example. The price-performance ratio is also very good. You can also go out to eat there with a large family. All I can say is we will definitely be back.

It was just super delicious 😋. My wife and I are on Husky Musher training in the neighboring town. After a long, tiring day, Salt & Pepper approached us from outside. That we were there twice during our short vacation. The food, a simple bomb. Very tasty, portions huge. In any case, everyone is fed up. Highly recommended is the DDR burger but also the spare ribs, really tasty. My wife also raved about the steak plates, and the turkey strip salad on the second day was also delicious 😋. (She just thought, with so much meat, I'll eat some vitamins today) 😆😆😆😆 Big compliments to the kitchen, BUT also the ladies in the tip top service. Thank you for food and drink. Unfortunately I can't agree with the others. We ate there on January 1st, 2025. The menu was so small that I overlooked it and asked the waitress for one, which was embarrassing at first. Was probably heavily discounted because of the holidays. I had steak with seasoned meat. The steak definitely didn't see a pan and was also tough. Was probably Just cooked the cutlet strip and then cut thin slices out of it. The spiced meat was just a flour mush. The piece of paper that was supposed to be a menu was already filled with sauce. That's why there is only one star for the friendly service.

Were there because we were traveling around town. We didn't know that you had to make a reservation. We asked for a table and were immediately told “no”. No information that you have to reserve. No attempt to encourage us to wait in case something becomes available or to sell something to take away. I imagine something different when it comes to service. But the store has enough sales and doesn't need every customer. Our view; never again.

We ate here twice within 4 days because it was so beautiful. We can only recommend it. Super comfortable and cozy. Nice ambience. The menu is varied and has something of everything. Price-performance ratio completely ok. Free parking is just 200m next door. The service was very friendly. We felt comfortable and welcome here.

We had lunch today in the beautiful courtyard. The courtyard is surrounded by a wall. This means it is protected from the wind and quiet. The service was quick and competent. We chose veal liver and steak au four. Both met our expectations. The prices are reasonable, the beer and wine were at the perfect temperature. All in all, we felt very comfortable and would love to come back.

Went there with a large group for the first time for our birthday. It tasted great. All the food came at the same time and quite quickly.

Good food quality, excellent taste and sufficient quantity. After visiting it once and looking at the menu, the restaurant became my new regular restaurant. Anyone who doesn't find what they're looking for here can rightly be described as picky. The waitresses were all nice and dogs are also welcome here. However, it is advisable to pre-order during peak times. I would have liked to give more stars!

Wir sind 3-4 mal im Jahr in Friedrichroda für ein Wellness Wochenende und jedes mal gehen wir in der tollen Gaststätte essen. Das Ambiente, der Gastraum, das Personal und natürlich die gute Küche sind der absolute Hammer. Große Speisekarte, sehr sehr lecker. Der tolle Biergarten ist sehr zu empfehlen. Gemütlich und alles sehr sauber. Wir kommen 100%ig wieder.

Wir haben dort zwei sehr nette Abende verlebt. Die Speisekarte ist sehr umfangreich und die Speisen sind sehr lecker. Das Personal ist sehr nett und kompetent.

Wir haben mit 6 Personen nicht vorbestellt und haben trotz vollem Haus noch nach kurzer Wartezeit Platz bekommen. Obwohl der Name des Hauses andere Speisen vermuten lässt, haben wir hier eine regionale Küche vorgefunden, die qualitativ hochwertig und bodenständig und reichlich von freundlichem Personal serviert wurde. Wir waren rundherum zufrieden und gesättigt.

We were "received" at the entrance by guests who told us where to go to the guest rooms because we didn't know our way around and didn't know where to go. We were served after about 20 minutes. My husband enjoyed the goulash. I decided on Königsberger Klobse, which unfortunately wasn't cooked and had a strange taste. The caper sauce didn't have that slightly sweet taste as usual. Unfortunately I could only eat 2 potatoes. We then had to wait another 25 minutes after eating until we could pay. We wouldn't eat there again. The waiting time is too long and the price is simply not right, but that may also depend on the court.
