Food and service were very good. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, with noisy guests, hard chairs, and a rather cold decor.

Absolutely delicious homemade food. The owner radiates such fantastic good humor that no one can resist it. Simply a perfect place to feel at home.

A small, hidden spot with a truly feel-good atmosphere! The ambiance is cozy, the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. A special mention goes to the very humorous Italian waiter, who makes the evening even more special with his charm and wit. The service is attentive and incredibly friendly throughout. The food is outstanding – creative, surprisingly different, and simply delicious. Whether as a couple or with friends, you can spend a wonderful evening here. I've been here twice and will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

The Bruschetta Pomodoro and the Neapolitan Pizza Margherita were absolute highlights – fresh, authentic, and full of flavor. The wine list is excellent and offers a fine selection for true wine connoisseurs. Anyone looking for a relaxed evening with great food and first-class wine should definitely visit this restaurant. Unterirdisch schlechter Service - überheblich und arrogant ! Teilweise schon frech! Alles was wir bestellen wollten war nicht da, und es gab kaum Auswahl ! Essen ok !

Die Kellnerin war sehr, sehr nett. Leider stimmte die Qualität des Essens nicht. Das „Risotto“-Gericht war extrem trocken, der Spinat dazu war nicht auffindbar. Die „große“ Fischsuppe war sehr lecker, allerdings außer vielen Muschelschalen und einer Garnele war nicht viel drin. Der Umgang mit unserer Beschwerde war aber sehr gut. Wir bekamen eine Lasagne (allerdings auch nur so la-la) aufs Haus ebenso wie zwei Karaffen Wasser. Insgesamt schade. Es schien so, als ob nur ein Ersatz-Koch sich bemüht hat.

The ambience and also the hard work of the very friendly winemaker are positive. However, the food was catastrophically bad. The fish soup was a broth with some mussels added. 19 euros is really too expensive for that. My risotto reminded me more of a dry falafel. Neither the announced spinach nor ricotta could be found in it. I returned the food. In return I was offered a lasagna. However, it had probably been under the heat lamp for an hour, the top layer was so dry. Too bad!

De website geeft een totaal andere indruk van dit restaurant. Het is geen wijnbar maar een beperkte (dure) keuze aan wijn. Het eten is veel te duur voor wat je krijgt. En het eten is zeer matig bereid. Met een kale boullabaisse en pasta met alleen wat saus. Een veel te beperkte kaart met te hoge prijzen voor wat je krijgt.

The photos and previous reviews do not match our experience this week at all. The meals are small and mediocre. Pasta with some sauce on top. The bouallabaisse is a broth. The wine choice is mediocre and expensive. Not recommended at all. And only pay in cash.

Good atmosphere, food was not good. We got bruschetta gambas, which unfortunately lacked garlic. As a main course we had homemade ravioli which was not cooked enough and tasted very mediocre. The tomato sauce was bitter, which was also not delicious. Sorry Café Gitane, it's too expensive and too bad.

June 2024: The quality is consistently at a very high level, you always have a wonderful evening here! The service was always present and extremely charming! June 2023: It was a pleasure - I have rarely eaten better than here! The bruscetta was absolutely amazing, so delicious. The other warm starters were also absolutely delicious. The main courses were surprisingly a further improvement, whether entrecote, cutlet, redfish or spaghetti vongole - a delight!!! The boss cooks herself, and does so with skill and passion. The service was discreet but always ready and incredibly friendly! If you want to spend a delicious and enjoyable evening, this is the right place for you. All dishes are freshly prepared - yes, that takes time. And you should take it. This is the wrong place for a quick Eat&Go - the enjoyment should be worth the time, even if you wait a few minutes longer. It's worth it!!!! Such fresh and absolutely brilliant food is worth enjoying the evening in a relaxed manner! The wine selection is also very exquisite… If it's still warm enough in the evening, you can enjoy the atmosphere of the district outside. All in all one of the best restaurants I've ever been to in Hamburg!!!!! 5*!!!!

I've been here a few times because I find the concept with the beautiful ambience and the small but fine menu really appealing. I can also easily ignore things like sold-out meals (which happens quite often). Unfortunately, on our last two visits we had to wait over 1.5 hours for the main courses on both occasions. The service was nice but it's not possible to wait that long, we were there at 7:30 p.m. and the main course came around 9:15 p.m. I find it really very unfortunate. Still recommended for a glass of wine, but only with lots and lots of patience for eating.

Ich war schon des Öfteren im Gitane zum Abendessen mit Freunden sowie mit der Familie zu Besuch. Das Essen war jedes Mal super lecker. Am besten hat mir die Trüffel-Pasta geschmeckt. Besonders lecker fand ich auch den Wein Leonie. Die Location ist sehr einladend und das Personal sehr freundlich. Ich komme immer wieder gerne hier her und kann das Gitane von Herzen weiterempfehlen. You’ve got to love the character of this place, the food and the guy who manages it! Whilst exploring this part of Hamburg we came across Gitane (mid day) so booked for dinner (8pm). Quiet place soon became very busy. Whilst the menu is brief...

An absolutely perfect place for a glass or two of delicious wine or aperitif! The idea with the small Italian-style menu is also really great, but unfortunately the implementation is not. Price performance is not optimal in this case, but that should detract from the great ambience, the great service and the delicious drinks! The motto is to get food somewhere else and enjoy the evening there afterwards.

I was there on a Saturday night at 21:30 and they said I can only have one round of drinks because they were closing, while on Google they say they are open until midnight. And when we asked for a second round at 22:20 they said no and basically kicked us out. Really horrible. They probably need to change their Google opening times because it’s deceiving.

Das Restaurant ist wirklich nett gelegen. Der Service war nett und aufmerksam. Allerdings kam das Essen kalt auf dem Tisch an. Portionen waren viel zu klein und es ist wahnsinnig überteuert. Sorry, so ein schlechtes Schnitzel gab es noch nie. Die Ravioli waren auch halb gar und kalt. Lieber in Speisen anstatt die Preise salzen. Leider nicht empfehlenswert.

Leider waren wir etwas enttäuscht. Das Essen war wie immer sehr sehr gut, aber der Service war wirklich nicht gut. Wir warteten 45 min auf Getränke und auf das Essen nochmal weitere 60 min. Leider wurde mit uns nicht kommuniziert und auf Nachfrage wann denn das Essen kommt wurde uns erst mitgeteilt dass ein Gericht nicht verfügbar ist sodass es gefühlt noch länger gedauert hat. Es wurde dann nicht alles gleichzeitig gebracht und auch teilweise falsch. Als wir sagten dass es nicht gut gelaufen ist kam nur ein „jaaaa“. Ich mag den Laden und das Essen sehr gerne, aber das war kein schöner Abend.

Das kleine aber feine Restaurant war eine schöne Überraschung. Sehr leckere Speisen und ein angenehm überschaubares Menü. Kräftig gewürzt und sehr aufmerksam serviert. Die räumlichen Gegebenheiten sind etwas ungünstig, weil die Küchenluft nach oben steigt und kein Fenster geöffnet werden kann. Auch das WC könnte etwas besser vom Rest getrennt sein. Ansonsten aber wirklich ein Besuch wert. Sehr schön ruhig obwohl es direkt um die Ecke der Langen Reihe liegt. Danke!

Wir waren zum Abendessen da. Der Empfang war sehr herzlich. Für mich zeichnet sich dadurch eine gute Bar/Restaurant aus. Wir haben uns sofort willkommen gefühlt. Es gibt hier gute Weine und leckere Aperitifs. Auch ein schönes Bier ist möglich. Das Essen ist richtig lecker. Handgemacht in der offenen Küche. Die Portionen könnten allerdings etwas größer sein für den Preis. Wir kommen gern wieder. // Die beiden Damen vom Service verdienen eine 1+ bzw 6 Sterne!!!

Rigtig god oplevelse. Desværre var nogle retter udsolgt og indholdet af andre retter var ændret lidt, da vi fik dem serveret. Det opvejes dog af den gode stemning og service. Vi kommer gerne igen.

Das Cafe Gitane in Hamburg St. Georg ist immer wieder einen Besuch wert. Schon seit vielen Jahren bin ich hier gerne Gast und lasse mich kulinarisch verwöhnen.

Schade, schade…. Das war definitiv mein letzter Besuch hier, leider! Denn in den vergangenen Jahren war alles super und ich war gern hier! Es gibt drei Hauptgerichte, alles sehr übersichtlich! Fischfilet war voller Gräten! Die vier Blätter Gemüse verbrannt! Ein NoGo! Hauswein: 1,5 dl € 8,- , heftig für einen offenen Wein! Tschüss, ciao….

Das Gitane bietet eine gemütliche Atmosphäre. Die hausgemachten Ravioli, die ich bestellt hatte, waren außergewöhnlich lecker. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam, und der empfohlene Wein hat perfekt zu meinem Essen gepasst. Insgesamt ein schöner Abend im Gitane.

Das sehr kleine Lokal hat uns einen Tisch im Eingangsbereich reserviert, direkt an der Tür wo jeder ständig vorbei läuft....
